PostSubject: Shooting Stars Wrestling #96 - 'Setting the Stage'   Shooting Stars Wrestling #96 - 'Setting the Stage' EmptyThu Jun 25, 2020 1:48 pm

Live from the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania . . . this is . . .

Shooting Stars Wrestling #96 - 'Setting the Stage' SSWlogo

SHOOTING . . . STARS . . . WRESTLING !!!!

The screen goes black and we hear the fans chanting ‘S-S-W!  S-S-W!’  ‘TILL I COLLAPSE’ by Eminem plays and the opening montage airs.  The camera comes up on the crowd pumping their fists and chanting, and the strobe lights go off on the ramp.  The camera scans the crowd, focusing in on several signs in the audience.  Surprisingly, there are several pro-Jericho signs, one saying ‘Best in the World at what I do’ and ‘Psichophant’.

Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan start to put over tonight’s show, which will feature 2 more first round matches in the TV title tournament.  However, they are quickly interrupted as the SSW Genesis champion, Chris Jericho, makes his way to the ring.

Shooting Stars Wrestling #96 - 'Setting the Stage' Untitled1

Jericho – ‘I told you so!  I told you so!  I told all of you!  When are you phichophantic hypocrites going to learn that when Chris Jericho tells you something is going to happen . . . it is going to happen!  Last week I beat your hero, Rob Van Dam, right in the middle of the ring in his own home town.  Made him tap out no less.  No one believed that I would do it, but I did.  Because I am the best in the world at what I do.  And now I guess that makes me not only your SSW Heavyweight champion, not only the true No. 1 contender to the UWF world title, but also the ‘Whole F’N Show’!  And speaking of the show . . . Chris Jericho deserves to be AT the show!  Chris Jericho deserves to be on the grandest stage of them all at Wrestlemania . . . and I deserve to be in the main event!  No one thought I should even be in the same ring as Maxx Payne, but what happened? I beat him!  No one gave me a chance against Ripper Collins, but I beat him to.  And when it came down to me and Brody, I beat him.  I don’t care what Paul Boesch or anyone else says.  I am the greatest star in the UWF  today, and I deserve my rightful place in the main event of Wrestlemania!!!!’  Do you understand . . . what I am saying to you . . . right now????  But I’m not.  And do you know why?  Because no one in the UWF hierarchy wants to see me there!  Instead, the gelatinous tape worms in the UWF Board of Governors want to spread their legs like some cheap whore for Bruiser Brody . . . and for Rick Rude . . . and!!!!

‘A NEW DAY’ by Adelitas Way hits and this brings out Ted Dibiase Jr. along with Lacey Von Erich.

Shooting Stars Wrestling #96 - 'Setting the Stage' TedDibiase

Dibiase – You know Chris, since we are out here talking about the things that we are entitled to, let’s talk about what I am entitled to.  Let’s talk about my title shot that I am entitled to.  Why am I entitled?  Because I was just born that way!  And after putting you on ‘Dream Street’ the last 2 weeks, I just have one question . . . Do I have your attention yet Chris?’

Jericho (smirking) - You can stop trying to get my attention . . . Junior . . . because you already have it.  But there is just one problem with that.  You are not, nor will you ever be, in my league!  Chris Jericho is in a league by himself, a league that you can only hope to aspire to.  If you ever plan on beating me for this title you need to lower your expectations.’

'JESUS WALKS' by Kanye West hits and this brings out ‘The Black Pope’ Elijah Burke to a big pop.

Shooting Stars Wrestling #96 - 'Setting the Stage' 6769_120227756025_31695961025_24249

Burke says that Jericho is right, he wil not be defending the title against Dibiase tonight.  Instead, the next time that the SSW title will be defended will be at SSW’s 100th show, which is entitled ‘REDEFINED AGAIN’.  But as far as the title match goes, he has a little video he wants to show.

A video package airs showing welders and construction workers building the Elimination Chamber!!!!

Pope says that the title will be on the line in an Elimination Chamber coming up at the 100th show, and tonight they are going to start finding out the competitors.  Dibiase thinks that he deserves a shot?  Well, tonight he is going to face a man that deserves his rematch for the title as well.  Tonight it will be Dibiase vs. CM Punk and the winner gets the first slot in the Elimination Chamber!

Commercial Break

IN THE BACK: Kelly Kelly is with CM Punk to get his thoughts on the announcement we just heard.  Punk says that he has allowed himself to be distracted for too long by AJ Styles.  And that is all AJ is . . . a distraction.  He is not going to go in to how much of a coward AJ is for not fighting him, because he is moving on to bigger things.  He never got his rematch for the SSW title, but tonight he is going to go out and earn his spot in the Elimination chamber by beating Ted Dibiase.

Match 1: Singles Match

Joe Hennig
Vs.
Zach Ryder

Hennig looks good in his debut as Rogan and Goldberg hype him up as a 3rd Generation star that was tutored by Bob Backlund while in Mid Atlantic.  Ryder gets a little offense, but Hennig hits a few of his smooth signature moves (missile dropkick, rolling neck snap) to maintain the advantage.  After hitting a fisherman buster onto his own knee earlier in the match, Hennig is able to finish Ryder off by hitting the Perfect Plex for the win.

Commercial Break

Match 2: Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match

CM Punk
vs.
Ted Dibiase Jr.

Punk dominates the early goings of the match, sending Dibiase bailing out to the floor.  Punk follows him, but Dibiase gets a thumb to the eye to regain the advantage.  Punk comes back, hitting the running knee in the corner and then the bulldog.  Punk goes for the springboard clothesline, but Dibiase catches him in a power slam and then grounds him with a chin lock.  Punk fights back again, this time catching Dibiase with the Pepsi Twist and both men are down.  Punk goes on the offensive, hitting a flying bodypress for a 2.  He goes for the GTS, but Dibiase rakes the eyes and slips out, then goes for the Dream Street.  Punk rolls through and then hits a Urinage . . . ANACONDA VICE!!!!  Out of the back comes AJ Styles, and his distraction causes Punk to let go of the hold.  Punk allows himself to be distracted by AJ long enough for Dibiase to hit the Dream Street from behind!  Dibiase hooks the leg for the 1 . . . 2 . . . NOOOOO!  Punk kicks out!  Dibiase locks on the Cobra Stretch, but Punk refuses to tap.  He reaches the ropes and gets the break, and as Dibiase moves in Punk hits a roundhouse kick out of nowhere.  Both men are down, but Punk pulls himself up and goes to the top rope.  However, AJ is on the apron and trips him, causing him to straddle the top turnbuckle!  The ref doesn’t see this, and this allows Dibiase to pull Punk off and hit the elevated DDT!  Dibiase makes the cover, and gets the 3 count to earn a spot in the Elimination Chamber!!!!

After the match, AJ comes into the ring and attacks Punk.  AJ keeps screaming at him, saying ‘I’M A DISTRACTION????  I’M A DISTRACTION????’  Punk tries to fight back, but he gets hit with the Pele from AJ.  AJ gives Punk the Styles Clash, then does a straight edge pose over the laid out Punk.

Commercial Break

IN THE BACK: Bryan Danielson confronts Austin Aries and Roderick Strong in the locker room.  He says that he did the right thing and gave them another match.  Now he expects them to do the right thing in return.  Danielson says that right now it is tied 1-1, and they need to break the tie to find out who is really worthy of challenging the Wolves.  He suggests a 2 out of 3 falls match with the winner getting the match for the titles and the loser admitting that the other team is better and walking away.

Former UWF Women’s World Champion Trish Stratus comes out and cuts a promo about her match this weekend at Wrestlemania.  She says that her and Cindy have met 1 time when both were at 100%.  Everyone knows the result, Trish pinned her.  Cindy won the title from her, but everyone knows that she was not 100% and that has eaten her alive ever since.  This Sunday, she is going to prove to the whole world that her loss was a fluke and she is ‘more woman than anyone else on the planet!’

Trish leaves as the next match is about to start, and Beth Phoenix makes her way out.  Trish and Beth slowly pass one another, never taking their eyes off each other as they cautiously pass.

Match 3: Women’s 4 corners match

Gail Kim
Vs.
Katie Lea
Vs.
Jetta
Vs.
Christy Hemme

Action is back and forth in this one, with all four ladies going all out to try to get the win.  Katie Lea and Jetta show some teamwork, but Hemme is probably the most impressive of the group.  She nearly has the pin on Jetta after the FFG, but it is Katie Lea that breaks it up.  Katie with the Cat Nip on Christy, but Gail nails her with a missile dropkick.  Gail locks Katie in the Christo, but Jetta breaks it up and tosses Gail to the floor.  Jetta hits the necktie backstabber on Hemme, then transitions into the necktie clutch to get the submission victory.

Commercial Break

Mike and Joe announce that the 2 out of 3 falls match between Austin Aries & Roderick Strong vs. Nigel McGuiness & Bryan Danielson will take place in 2 weeks, with the winner getting the tag title shot at the 100th show.

Match 4: Television Title Tournament First Round

Tyler Black
Vs.
‘The Ripper’ Paul Burchill

Great match and Tyler really looks good.  Burchill is brutal in his tactics, just punishing Tyler for most of the match but Tyler makes a late comeback.  Tyler hits the springboard clothesline, but misses the Phoenix Splash.  Burchill sets for the Twisted Sister (jumping hangman neckbreaker), but Tyler grabs the ropes and blocks it.  Burchill hits the back of his head hard on the mat, and Tyler sets and delivers a stiff superkick to Burchill as he is on his knees.  That only gets a 2, but Tyler manages to duck a lariat attempt by Burchill and hit God’s Last Gift out of nowhere to get the pin to advance.

We get a promo for the epic Trish Stratus vs. Cindy Rogers match for the Women’s World title coming up at Wrestlemania to ‘WALK AWAY’ by Five Finger Death Punch.

Commercial Break

AJ comes out and says that he does not care about the TV title . . . he doesn’t need it.  There is only one title that he wants . . . one title he deserves . . . and that is the SSW title.  He wants to qualify for the Elimination Chamber.  He walks out of the ring, and the ref starts counting.  Morrison stops the ref and grabs the mic.  He says that he guesses Punk was right . . . Styles IS a coward.  The crowd starts chanting ‘Coward!’ at AJ, and he rushes back to the ring and goes after Morrison.  They start fighting and the ref rings the bell.

Main Event: Television title tournament first round

John Morrison
vs.
AJ Styles

The opening moments are a total blur as both men are flying around the ring.  Morrison nails Styles with a back heel kickthat sends him outside, but a baseball slide misses and AJ rams Morrison shoulder-first into the ring post.  With Morrison stunned, AJ hits a springboard shooting star press.  Back in the ring AJ hits the high arcing knee drop, then locks in a chin lock and yells at the crowd while wearing down Morrison at the same time.  Morrison fights back with elbows to break the hold, then catches AJ coming in with an STO backbreaker out of nowhere.  Morrison holds on, then hits a hangman neckbreaker.  Both men are down for a minute, but Morrison is up and hits a Russian Leg Sweep.  He goes for a lionsault, but AJ rolls out of the way and Morrison lands on his feet.  Criss cross and AJ drops down, then nails Morrison right in the mouth with the picture perfect dropkick.  AJ goes for the ‘Phenomenon’, but Morrison blocks it and snap mares AJ forward, then springs off the ropes and nails him with the Flying Chuck!!!!  1 . . . 2 . . . NO!  AJ kicks out!  Morrison sets for the Morrison Starship, but AJ hops up and crotches Morrison on the top rope.  AJ goes for the Styles Clash, but Morrison backdrops out of it.  Morrison goes for the moonlight drive, but AJ takes both his legs out from under him and rolls him up.  AJ puts his feet on the ropes for extra leverage, but as the ref counts someone pushes his feet off the ropes and breaks up the pin!!!!  IT IS CM PUNK!!!!  AJ is distracted by Punk, allowing Morrison to roll him up from behind!!!!  1 . . . 2 . . . 3!!!!  MORRISON ADVANCES!!!!

Shooting Stars Wrestling #96 - 'Setting the Stage' 07_Morrison

Morrison bails out and celebrates, while AJ throws a fit in the ring!  Punk taunts him, but AJ gets on the mic and calls him back to the ring.  Punk is happy to oblige and he hits the ring and both men start brawling all over the place.  Referees and security come out to try to break both men up, and the show ends with the wild pull-apart situation between the 2.

Cindy struggles to get to the ropes, but Trish pulls her back to the center of the ring. It looks like Cindy might tap, but at the last second she manages to roll herself over, pinning Trish’s shoulders to the mat and forcing her to release the move before she is pinned! Trish signals for the end and goes for the Stratus-faction, but Cindy pushes her chest-first into the turnbuckle . . . CHICK KICK OUT OF NOWHERE BY CINDY!!!!
