Live from the Breslin Student Events Center in East Lansing, Michigan, on the campus of Michigan State University . . . this is . . .
SHOOTING . . .STARS . . . WRESTLING!!!! The opening SSW promo airs to ‘MILLIONAIRE’ by Queens of the Stone AgeThe screen is blank for a moment as we can here the fans chanting ‘S . . . S . . . W!!!! . . . S . . . S . . . W!!!!’ The screen comes up on a rowdy arena full of fans pumping their fists as strobe lights go off through the venue and the camera zooms in and out. We go to ringside with Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan.
Mike – ‘Hello fans and welcome to another addition of Shooting . . . Stars . . . Wrestling!!!! I am Mike Goldberg alongside my broadcast partner Joe Rogan and we are coming to you live from inside the Breslin Student events Center on the campus of Michigan State University!!!!’Joe – ‘Mike, they love their college football here in East Lansing, but tonight this is an SSW-only crowd!!!! And what a show we have in store for them. Tonight, we are finally going to see Owen Hart have to defend the SSW Genesis title against Taz! That will be our main event, but we are also going to see the team of Kid Kash and Jamie Noble in action . . .’Mike – ‘Well Joe, you know they don’t like to be called Trailer Park Trash. In addition fans, we are going to hear an important announcement regarding SSW’s participation in the new NWA ladies division, which is getting started now that the Great American Bash is over. You know that SSW has some of the best women in the business, so we figure to factor heavily in this new division.’Joe – ‘You know that’s right! Plus tonight we are going to see Shelton Benjamin in singles action, and you know that Team Domination cannot be happy about what happened last week.’Mike – ‘Well Joe, this new group has been turning some heads since Ted Dibiase JR showed up on TV a few weeks back. Now apparently Brent Albright is a part of it. Hopefully we will be able to get a word with Brent on tonight’s show. Plus we are going to see The Gods of Gravity in action and much more, so let’s go straight up to the ring!’Match 1: Tag Team Match
The Gods of Gravity (Paul London & Brian Kendrick) w/ Mickie James
vs.
The Thrillseekers (Johnny Jeter & Matt Capatelli)London and Kendrick act respectful to start the match, offering a handshake to Jeter and Capatelli but then jumping them when the bell rings. GOG hits several double team moves on Capatelli, but he manages to tag in Jeter who comes in a house of fire. Jeter hits the 630 kick on Kendrick, but Mickie gets on the apron and distracts the ref. The distraction is enough for the GOG to take back over, sending Capatelli outside and then hitting a ‘Doomsday Sliced Bread’ on Jeter to get the pin.
‘Here are your winners . . . Paul London & Brian Kendrick . . . the Gods of Gravity!’
We see clips of Joel Gertner interviewing fans as they are lined up waiting to get in to the show tonight. He is asking them who is going to win between Taz and Owen in the main event for the title tonight. Most people pick Taz, but there are a few out there that pick Owen, calling it an upset.Commercial BreakMatch 2: Singles Match
‘Sugar’ Shane Helms
vs.
Shelton Benjamin w/ Charlie HaasThis match is technical and fast-paced throughout, with both men giving their all. Helms pulls out a ton of big moves to try to put Benjamin away, but he just can’t do it. Likewise, Shelton is unable to get the win by hitting his signature moves. Helms hits the ‘sugar smack’ for a nearfall, but then goes up top for the big high cross body. He hits it, but Benjamin rolls through into a pin on Helms and manages to get the surprise 3 count!
‘Here is your winner . . . Shelton Benjamin!’
After the match, Helms is visibly frustrated. Shelton offers him a handshake, but Helms slaps it away and walks out.
Mike – ‘Man, tough break for Helms. He put on quite a show in that match but Hart walks away with the win.’Joe – ‘Yeah, Shane needs to get back to his winning ways. He has been on a losing streak as of late.’IN THE BACK: We see Taz in a dark room with his trademark ripped up towel hung low over his face. Tonight the talking is all done and Owen is going to have to step in the ring and go face to face with the ‘one man crime spree’. Owen doesn’t have what it takes to stand up to him, and all his little goons are not going to be able to help him. Tonight, the belt is coming home with Taz. BEAT ME IF YOU CAN . . . SURVIVE IF I LET YOU!’Commercial BreakJoel Gertner catches up with John Cena in the back. Gertner asks Cena who his money is on in the main event tonight, but Cena doesn’t care who wins. If he had to bet, he would pick Taz, because the Hart Foundation is not going to be anywhere near ringside. And that is because he is going to make sure of that. Him . . . and his little friend here. Cena holds up a steel chair. He looks into the camera and tells Taz that he wants to get the first title shot when he beats Owen to become the champ tonight.
As we come back to live action, Joe Rogan is in the ring. He puts over the NWA’s new ‘Women’s Division’, and says that SSW is going to be a huge part of it. He introduces the ‘Ladies of SSW’ and out comes Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, Nattie Neidhart, and Victoria. He says SSW has proven time and again that it is truly the ‘Next Chapter’ in the NWA, and they are going to do it again by bringing the fans the best women athletes in the NWA. We could be looking at the next NWA Women’s champion in the ring right now. Victoria snatches the mic out of Rogan’s hand and goes off on a tirade, saying that she is the only recognized women’s champion and the NWA Board should recognize her as the rightful women’s champion. The other ladies start to argue with her, and there is some shoving when out of the back comes Ted Dibiase JR, Brent Albright, and Robert Roode!!!!
Ted JR has a mic.
Ted JR – ‘You know, there is a lot of buzz in the locker room these days. A lot of people are pissed off. Why, because we swerved Charlie Haas last week? Because we made him look like a fool? Who cares? You see, the 3 of us know this business. I grew up in it. All my life people have wanted me to live in my father’s shadow. But I am not my father . . . I’m better! Now these two men here have wrestled all over the NWA. And what do they have to show for it? Nothing! This man Brent Albright is a shooter in the true sense of the word. He is a former 7 time amateur free style wrestling champion. Not everyone has those credentials. And how have the promoters in the NWA used someone this talented? They have used him to put other people over. He has been in SSW since the start, and how many title shots has he gotten?
You see, Brent Albright stepped across that line because he can see the writing on the wall. And how could I not mention the man that made all of this possible. This man, Robert Roode, and his business sense is why we are standing here right now. Here is a man that has all the tools to be someone in this business. And yet he has been bounced around his entire career, never given a chance to run with the ball. But here in SSW, together, we are going to make our own rules. We are going to make our own breaks.’He hands the mic to Robert Roode, who is met with a chorus of boos.
Roode – ‘I couldn’t have said it better myself. Let’s be real here. No one cares about women who think they can wrestle. This group right here is about to be the hot topic in SSW. All our careers, people have said that we need to pay our dues. But when you’re this good . . . YOU DON’T PAY DUES!’Albright – ‘All of the boys in the back and all of you fans are going to have to start thinking about the FUTURE, because it is standing right in front of you. You are looking at the Future . . . and the Future starts right now!!!!The three men raise each others hands, but suddenly Team Domination’s music hits! Out come Angle, Haas, and Benjamin! They say that the so-called ‘Future’ is not going to make a name for themselves at the expense of Team Domination, and they challenge them to step in the ring and ‘see what the future really looks like’. They head to the ring, but as they climb inside Ted JR, Albright, and Roode all bail out and leave the ringside area.
A promo airs with Carlito sitting on the beach. A hot chick in a bikini comes up and asks him to rub lotion on her back. Carlito does it, until she calls him Kofi Kingston by mistake. Carlito stops and takes a big bite of his apple, spitting it in her face. Carlito is coming to SSW, and he spits in the face of people that don’t want to be cool. Commercial BreakJoel Gertner catches up with Shane McMahon in the back. He asks Shane who he thinks is going to win tonight, but Shane doesn’t care. Shane addresses the so-called ‘Future’, saying that they are under contract to wrestle but he has yet to see them in the ring. Well, next week that is going to change. Now, on to other matters, he puts over how SSW is the Next Chapter in the NWA, and he is proud that they are going to be such a vital part of the success of the new women’s division. So to kick it all off tonight, the fans are going to see what the women’s division is all about in an SSW cult-favorite match . . . the 3 way dance!!!! Match 3: Tag Team Match
Trailer Park Trash (Jamie Noble & Kid Kash)
vs.
‘Campus Legend’ Brad Allen & ‘The Natural’ Nick NemethThis is a competitive match throughout, with Allen and Nemeth having a good accounting of themselves. TPT is just too much though, and their underhanded tactics allow them to score the victory after hitting a springboard spike ‘Money Maker’ on Allen. Kash gets the pin for his team.
‘Here are your winners . . . Jamie Noble and Kid Kash . . . Trailer Park Trash!’
Kash and Noble go over to argue with the ring announcer for calling them that. Kash grabs a mic and tells the Hart Foundation that they are coming for the tag titles, but this brings out the Gods of Gravity. Kendrick and London say that just winning a match does not put them in line for a tag title shot. Trailer Park Trash is not even in their league. They are simply the best tag team in SSW. They are the ones that took out the Motor City Machine Guns in their own hometown and sent them packing. Sooner or later, the Hart Foundation is going to have to put the titles on the line against them and Trailer Park Trash need to be smart and stay out of their way before they end up just like the Guns . . . GONE!.
Mike – ‘Wow. Strong words from the Gods of Gravity.’Joe – ‘I can’t say that I don’t agree though. They have been impressive and still not gotten a tag title shot. I don’t know if picking a fight with Kash and Noble is a wise move though. Those guys might be from the trailer park, but they can fight.’Mike – ‘You know, not a lot of people give any of these guys credit due to their size, but the GOG do things in the ring that I have never seen, and Kash and Noble wrestle like a couple of pit bulls.’Joe – ‘And don’t forget about Haas & Benjamin. The tag team division is wide open right now.’IN THE BACK: The Hart Foundation are watching the action on the monitor. Teddy and Harry comment on how they would beat either GOG or TPT in a match. Joel Gertner comes in to get comments from Owen, and he says he is not afraid of Taz anymore. Last week he showed that he can beat him right in the middle of the ring. Now Taz has nothing to threaten him with, nothing to do with all that strength and rage. There is a reason why he is the longest reigning singles champion in the NWA. Tonight, the world will see whyCommercial BreakMike and Joe announce that next week on the show we are going to see Bryan Danielson defending the Pure title against none other than CM Punk!!!! We get a promo from both men putting over the match. Danielson says that he is the Best in the World and will prove it when he beats Punk, but Punk says that he is as disciplined as anyone in the world and his addiction is wrestling. Next week, we will see whose desire is greater!
Match 4: Ladies 3 way dance!
Beth Phoenix
vs.
Mickie James
vs.
Nattie NeidhartPrior to the match, Victoria comes out and does guest commentary with Mike and Joe. She keeps putting herself over as being the ‘real’ women’s champion during the match. Mickie tries to get Beth to team up against Nattie to startthe match, but Beth is having none of it and she attacks both ladies. Beth takes them both out and presses Mickie over her head and tosses her to the floor. Mickie and Nattie team up against Beth, sending her to the outside and then they turn on each other. Mickie goes for the ‘Mick-Kick’, but Nattie catches her leg and locks her in the Sharpshooter. Beth is back in and nails Nattie from behind, then hits the ‘Beth Valley Driver’ (Samoan Driver) for the pin. Nattie is eliminated! It is down to Mickie and Beth, and the action goes back and forth the rest of the way. Mickie resorts to raking Beth’s eyes to break another ‘Beth Valley Driver’, then hits the springboard DDT on Beth and scores the pinfall!!!!
Here is your winner . . . Mickie James!!!!’
After the match, Mickie celebrates but Victoria climbs in the ring and KO’s her with her women’s title! Beth is back up, and Victoria lays her out as well.
The Genesis title match is coming up next!!!!
Commercial BreakMatch 5: For the SSW Genesis title
(champion) Owen Hart
vs.
‘The Human Suplex Machine’ TazThe early parts of this match are owned by Taz, and he dominates Owen with his brawling style. Owen keeps trying to bail out to break the momentum, but Taz follows him out and hammers him with hard shots. He tosses him back in, then hits a belly to belly off the top rope! Taz decides to stop toying with Owen and signals for the Taz-mission, but Owen hits him with the ol’ trick knee low blow. Owen takes over, hitting a gutwrench suplex and then a knee drop to the face. Taz fights back, but Owen breaks the momentum with a drop kick to the knee. Owen works on the knee of Taz, tying him up in the ropes and refusing to break at the 5 count. He keeps daring the ref to disqualify him. He ties Taz’s legs around the ring post, then takes a chair and smashes the knee that he has been working on. He grabs Taz’s legs to lock a figure four around the ring post, but Taz pulls him forward face-first into the post! Both men are down, but Taz rolls outside before Owen can be counted out. Taz hammers Owen, whipping him into the rail and then hitting a T-Bone suplex on the concrete. Taz brings a table into the ring, but Owen reverses the whip and sends Taz crashing through the table. Owen goes for the package piledriver, but Taz reverses it and hits the ‘concrete crash’ (double leg spinebuster). Taz signals for the Taz-mission once again, but out of the back come the Hart Foundation to try to interfere. From the other side of the ring, John Cena comes out with a chair and lays them all out, keeping the odds one on one. Taz measures Owen and locks on the Taz-mission!!!! Owen is getting choked out, and he reaches out to try to grab the top rope. He can’t reach it, but at the last second he uses both feet to push off the top rope. He pushes back on Taz, rolling through and putting Taz in a pinning position! Taz does not release the choke in time, and his shoulders are counted to the mat for the 3 count!!!!
‘Here is your winner . . . and STILL the SSW Genesis champion . . . Owen Hart!!!!’
Taz refuses to let go of the choke, even after the pin has already happened. He continues to choke the life out of Owen, but Lance Storm comes in to break it up. Storm gets the Taz-mission this time!!!! Owen bails out, but Cena slides in the ring and helps fight off the rest of the Hart Foundation. However, Taz is in a rage and he turns on Cena as well and lays him out with a T-Bone!!!! Taz locks on the Taz-mission on Cena and chokes him out as well!!!! He finally releases the hold and tosses Cena to the mat, staring down Owen as he escapes with the title in tow.
