| Live from the Pepsi Coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, IN. This is . . . SHOOTING . . .STARS . . . WRESTLING!!!! We start the show with a recap of the controversial SSW title match at STARRCADE between Owen Hart and John Cena ....
Owen Hart Weight: 227 lbs Hometown: Calgary, Alberta Canada Music: Hart Foundation Theme from WWE Finisher: The Sharpshooter
-vs-
John Cena weight: 260 lbs hometown: West Newberry, MA music: ‘Basic Thug-O-Nomics’ by John Cena finisher: F-U Slam; STFU
The crowd is definitely pro-Cena in this one because of the time he spent in BTPW, but Owen gets a nice ovation as well. The opening is very surprising in this one, with Cena actually matching Owen hold for hold in a wrestling match. Cena takes advantage by using his strength, but Owen counters by taking Cena off his feet and working on the leg, softening it up and eventually locking on the sharpshooter! Cena fights with all he can, and makes it to the ropes to avoid tapping out to the dreaded finisher. Cena mounts somewhat of a comeback, catching Owen off the ropes with a shoulder block then planting him with the ‘Killswitch’ (spinning sit out slam). He hobbles to his feet, then gives Owen the ‘You can’t see me!’ sign before dropping the 5 knuckle shuffle on his head! Cena pumps up his shoes, but his knee is obviously hurting. He tries to pick Owen up for the F-U, but he slips off the back and goes for the enziguri. Cena ducks, and Owen lays out the ref instead! The ref is out, and Cena hoists Owen up and drives him to the mat with the F-U!!!! However, Cena barely has time to get to his feet after the move when another figure runs out of the back and climbs up on the ring apron. It’s Lance Storm!!!! Storm springboards off the ropes and catches the unsuspecting Cena right in the face with a missile dropkick just as he turns around! Cena is out, and Storm pulls Owen on top of Cena! The ref finally begins to stir, and counts the 1 . . . 2 . . . 3!!!!
Owen is still a little out of it as he is handed the SSW title. He sees Storm standing at ringside with a big smile on his face, applauding, and he begins to realize what has just happened. Owen becomes irrate, pointing at Storm and telling the ref that he interfered. Storm turns and walks away from the ring, and Cena is back up. Owen tries to tell Cena what happened, and he refuses to take the belt from the ref. He pleads his case to Cena, but Cena just grabs him and plants him with another F-U!!!! Cena walks out, leaving the new SSW champion laid out in the middle of the ring. The show starts off with Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan already in the ring. The fans have broken out in a loud ‘SSW! SSW!’ chant. Mike – Good evening ladies and gentlemen, and weeeeeeelcome to Shooting Stars Wrestling!!!! I am Mike Goldberg joined as always by my partner Joe Rogan . . .‘And well . . . well . . . weeeeeeeellll . . .’They are cut off as Joel Gertner comes out of the back with a microphone in his hand. Joel – ‘You didn’t think you could start without me did you? It is I, the quintessential stud muffin and, GOOD GOD, a damn handsom man . . . Joel . . . this girl I know wanted to see the show. She begged me for a ticket, so I told her to bend over and I’d show her where I would stick it. For 45 minutes she proceeded to tease . . . and please . . . and lick it! But when it was all said and done you know I made her buy a ticket . . . GERTNER!!!!’ Rogan – ‘Well, now that THAT is over . . .’Joe stops talking as the attention of the 3 men in the ring is drawn to someone coming down the isle. It is the newly Crowned SSW champion Owen Hart! Owen takes the mic from Gertner, and he asks John Cena to come to the ring!!!! After a brief moment, Cena’s music hits and he comes out to the ring, but it is obvious that he is confused as to what is going on. Owen tells Cena that he owes an explanation to him for what happened at Starrcade. He wants to help make the SSW title one of the most important in the NWA, but after what happened at Starrcade his title victory has been tainted. He can’t help who his family is, but he wants Cena to know that he had nothing to do with what happened at Starrcade. He wanted him to be out here because he is officially surrendering the SSW title and he wants a rematch between them to settle things because Cena deserves that. ‘Here comes the Monaaaaaaay!’ and out comes Shane McMahon! McMahon says that they cannot change what the record books show, and Owen is indeed the SSW champion. But given the controversial nature of the finish at Starrcade, they are going to have that rematch and it is going to be tonight! As of right now, the SSW title is held up and the winner of tonight’s John Cena vs. Owen Hart match will be crowned the new SSW champion! ‘El Phantasmo and the Chicken Run Blast-o-rama’ by White Zombie hits and out comes Lance Storm! Shane tells Storm that this show isn’t going to be like the other over-booked promotions in the NWA, and they are not going to bleed the show with promos. Storm asks if he can be serious for a minute, and he tells Owen that they are from ‘Calgary . . . Alberta . . . Canada!!!! He can’t turn his back on family. Owen says that he is not a Hart and he is not his family. Storm says that he is right, but they are!!!! From the other side of the ring, Harry Smith and Teddy Hart come out and attack Cena, and Storm joins in! Owen just stands there and watches, uncertain. But when Storm joins in the beating, Owen comes in and makes the save, decking Storm with a right hand!!!! Owen tosses Storm out of the ring, and then Smith and Hart quickly back off. Afterwards, Owen extends his hand to Cena but he just looks at him and nods and then walks off The lights in the arena suddenly go out, and an eerie orange glow settles over the crowd. The sound of a heartbeat can be heard, and a tribal symbol appears on the big screen. ‘War Machine’ by KISS starts to play and a graphic flashes across the screen that says ‘THE MOOD IS ABOUT TO CHANGE . . . NEXT WEEK’ Backstage, Chris Sabin and Michael Shane are talking heatedly in the locker room about how they need to get back on the same page. Each one of them seems to blame the other for their recent problems. They are cut off as in the door walk none other than Paul London and Brian Kendrick, the Gods of Gravity!!!! They all shake hands, and London says that he heard that Adrenaline were the best around. They want to show SSW that they are for real too, so he proposes a match. Sabin accepts the challenge, without even asking Shane for his advice. When GOG leave, Sabin looks at Shane and says ‘what?’ and Shane says ‘Thanks for asking me about it . . . partner,’ and he gets up and walks out.Tag Team Match Adrenaline (Chris Sabin & Michael Shane) weight: 478 lbs hometown: Detroit, MI and San Antonio, TX music: Adrenaline Rush (that song they used to play at the end of Impact) finisher: Cradle Shock, Sweet Chin Music
-vs-
Gods of Gravity (Paul London & Brian Kendrick) Weight: 385 lbs Hometown: Olympia, Washington and Austin, Texas Music: Danger: High Voltage by Electric 6 Finisher: London Calling (shooting star press) & Sliced Bread # 2The action is furious from the opening bell, and it appears that Adrenaline has put all their problems behind them and gotten back on the same page. Somewhere during the match, Shane gets distracted by Alex Shelley, who once again is seated in the front row with a video camera. Shane leaves the corner to confront Shelley, and the two get into a shoving match. Security has to come over and break the two men up. Meanwhile, Sabin tries to make the tag, but Shane is not there. Sabin then gets nailed by Sliced Bread # 2 from Kendrick, followed by a standing shooting star press from London. London steps on the back of Kendrick, who is on all fours, and launches himself into the air to hit the move and get the 3 count. After the match Sabin berates Shane for leaving him high and dry. Shane tries to walk off, but Sabin stops him and continues. Shane finally backs off and apologizes to Sabin. The two men shake hands and hug, but Shelley is still at ringside and he is yelling something at Sabin. Shane starts to go after Shelley outside, when he is suddenly blindsided by Sabin!!!! The crowd is in shock as Sabin stands over the fallen Shane, then picks him up and plants him with the ‘Cradle Shock’! Sabin leaves along with Shelley, and they head to the back. *** Mike – ‘This is it folks, this one is for all the marbles!’ Rogan – ‘Now we get to see who the better man is, straight up. No outside interference.’Owen Hart Weight: 227 lbs Hometown: Calgary, Alberta Canada Music: Hart Foundation Theme from WWE Finisher: The Sharpshooter
-vs-
John Cena weight: 260 lbs hometown: West Newberry, MA music: ‘Basic Thug-O-Nomics’ by John Cena finisher: F-U Slam; STFUThe match starts off at a fast technical pace, with the two men exchanging various holds and reversals. Owen is, of course, the more skilled technician and tempers flare from the frustrated Cena. Eventually Cena abandons trying to match Owen with technical wrestling and resorts to brawling. After absorbing heavy blows from Cena, Owen fires back and targets the same leg that he worked on in their match at Starrcade. However, Cena has Owen scouted this time, and when Owen goes for the Sharpshooter Cena rolls him into a small package and nearly gets the 3 count. The people get behind Cena and he fights back, dropping Owen with a flying shoulder block and getting in his face and giving him the ‘You can’t see me!’ sign. Cena hits the ropes and delivers the 5 knuckle shuffle, then starts pumping up his shoes. He scoops Owen onto his shoulders for the F-U, but Owen slips off and rolls Cena up in a sunset flip. He rolls right through and tries for the Sharpshooter again, but Cena kicks him off! Cena is back up, but Owen nails him with an enziguri that nearly takes his head off! Out of the back come Teddy Hart and Harry Smith! Mike – ‘Oh, no. What are those two doing out here?’Shane McMahon comes out and cuts them off, forcing them back toward the backstage area with the help of the ref. Owen is distracted as well, pointing at them and telling them to ‘get out of here’! Meanwhile, Cena sneaks up and rolls Owen up from behind and has the pin, but the ref is out of position. Cena goes for another F-U, but this time Owen kicks him right between the legs! Both men are down, and from the other side of the ring comes Lance Storm!!!! Storm slides in the ring, and Owen begs off from him and appears scared. However, Storm turns and lays John Cena out with a vicious super kick!!!! Owen looks at Storm and appears surprised, but then a smile slowly starts to creep across his face. Owen drops and makes the cover, and Storm pulls the ref back toward the ring. The ref seess Owen with the pin, and he has no choice but to count Cena down for the 3 count! ‘Your winner . . . and SSW Champion . . . Owen Hart!’ Teddy Hart and Harry Smith join Lance Storm and Owen in the ring as they all embrace. Storm straps the SSW title to Owen’s waist and they all lift him onto their shoulders and carry him around the ring, draped in the Canadian Flag. Cena is helped out of the ring by Shane McMahon, looking back in rage at the scene of celebration going on in the ring as the show ends. | |
