THE MID WEST REGIONAL – ROUND 1
Live from the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri

*Instead of the show beginning with the usual highlights, the camera pans across the live crowd. The King of the Ring memorabilia on display on the stage, and the Heel Section is here in full force. They are holding up signs like "WE CAME TO SEE EDGE", "WHAT NUMBER SEED IS DUSTY'S SPLOTCH", "MALENKO FOR PRESIDENT", and "HOGAN FEARS ROGAIN". We then go to ringside with Larry Matysik and Lance Russell*

Lance- Wrestling fans, welcome to a special edition of RWA wrestling. This week, things are just a bit different. This week we are playing host to the opening round of the Mid West bracket of King of the Ring!   We have stars from all across the UWF here this week.

Larry- This is a big tournament spread out over several weeks and many territories. The winner of this tournament goes on to face the UWF World champion of his choice at Wrestlemania. Dave Brown will be here talking to the winners of each match. Fans, let's not waste any time. Let's send it up to the ring for our opener!

(6) MR. WRESTLING II (PWUSA)
vs
(11) THE JUNKYARD DOG (HLW)

Both men shake hands before the match starts, and we get underway.  The fans are mainly cheering for JYD, although II has his section of fans that are on his side. JYD uses his power to take the advantage early, but II targets the legs and goes to work.  He locks JYD in the figure four and it looks like he might get the submission victory, but JYD reaches the ropes.  II continues the attack, but JYD strikes back with some headbutts that take II out.  JYD is really favoring the knee, but he takes II down with some clotheslines and then a big suplex.  JYD hits a diving headbutt and gets a close 2, then he goes for the ‘Thump’.  II starts squirming, and the extra weight causes the knee of JYD to buckle.  II hits a drop kick to the knee, then goes for the figure four again!  This time JYD rolls II up in a cradle, but II manages to reverse out of it and roll JYD up for the upset 3 coun!!!!

*as Dave gets in the ring, we see Heel Section all get up and go to the snack stand. They leave signs in their chairs that say "BACK WHEN II SHUTS UP AND LEAVES"

Dave- Exciting win for you there, II.

II- Ya know, being a former world champion, I know what it takes to get the job done. JYD put up a good fight, but he's no world champion like I am. That's one down. Line the rest up. I got Million Dollar Knees for all of 'em.
Dave- Lance and Larry, back to you.

(2) ‘King’ RIPPER COLLINS
vs
(15) DUSTIN RHODES

This match starts out relatively clean, and Rhodes is the first one to take the advantage.  Rhodes hits a series of lightning arm drags and hip tosses that have Collins off balance, and he works the arm.  Collins cannot break the arm bar, and he backs Dustin into the ropes and goes to the eyes.  Collins tosses Dustin into the ropes and hits a back elbow, then drops the knee on his head.  Collins goes for the nerve hold, but the fans rally behind Dustin, who fights back.  Dustin hits some elbows to the midsection to break the hold, then drops down and hits a big uppercut to the jaw of Collins.  Rhodes rallies, hitting a lariat off the ropes and then going for the bulldog.  Collins shoves him off, and Rhodes crashes chest-first into the turnbuckle.  Collins goes for a big boot, but Rhodes dodges and goes for the Curtain Call but Collins blocks it as well and hits a belly to belly.  Collins picks Rhodes up and hits the stomach breaker and scores the pinfall to advance!

*Dave joins Collins after the match*

Dave- Ripper, you advance in the tournament. What...

Collins- You will not speak to the king unless you are spoken to. I am the greatest wrestler in this tournament. These matches are nothing more than a delay. I shall destroy all who oppose me and then take my rightful place as the king of the UWF.

Lance- This has been one hell of a tournament so far.

Larry- It sure has. Up next, another former world champion, Dean Malenko steps into the ring against Phil Shatter. Some fans think Malenko may have lost a step since losing the World Lightweight title. Phil Shatter might agree. Lets go to our next bout here on HBO!

(3) DEAN MALENKO (IWL)
vs
(14) PHIL SHATTER (NAWE)

Malenko puts on a clinic in this one, totally outwrestling the younger Shatter.  Shatter manages to get things going using his power to outmuscle Malenko, but the former Junior champion reverses the tide with a tilt a whirl backbreaker.  Malenko locks on the cloverleaf, but Shatter shows heart in fighting out of it and getting to the ropes.  Malenko continues the assault, but Shatter hits a T-Bone Suplex and then a crucifix power bomb for the closest near-fall of the match.  Shatter abandons his gameplan and goes up top, but Malenko is able to meet him there and hit a fireman carry gutbuster off the top!  Malenko locks on the Cloverleaf again, this time in the middle of the ring.  Shatter tries to fight to the ropes, but Malenko drags him back to the center and sits down on the move.  Shatter cannot take any more of it and he is forced to tap out.

*Dave goes to interview Malenko, but Dean just walks out, totally ignoring him*

(4) ‘Stone Cold’ STEVE AUSTIN (XWA)
vs.
(13) DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE (NAWE)

Austin and Page surprisingly exchange a number of wrestling holds to start the match out.  Each man has to end up going to the ropes to break the hold.  DDP gets an arm wringer and hits some shoulder blocks to Austin in close quarters, but Austin fights back with some right hands and then a back elbow off the ropes.  Austin rams DDP’s head into the turnbuckle and stomps him down to the mat, pausing to flip him off before one last stomp.  Austin chokes DDP on the 2nd rope, then comes off and hits the body guillotine.  Austin locks on a chinlock, but DDP fights to his feet and elbows out of it.  He hits the ropes, but both men take each other out with clotheslines!  Austin is the first one up, but DDP blocks a right hand and takes Austin down with a discus clothesline.  DDP hits a sit-out power bomb for a close 2, then signals for the Diamond Cutter.  Ausitn shoves him off in the ropes and goes for the stunner, but DDT blocks it as well and hits a swinging neckbreaker.  Another try for the Diamond Cutter is blocked by Ausitn and he shoots DDP into the ropes again and hits the Thesz press.  Austin unloads with punches and then hits the elbow drop off the ropes, but DDP kicks out again!  Austin goes for a super-plex, but DDP blocks it and knocks Austin to the mat.  DDP goes for a double axe handle, but Austin catches him with a boot to the gut on the way down . . . STUNNER!!!!  Austin rolls over and hooks the leg for the 1 . . . 2 . . . 3!!!!

*Dave joins Austin*

Dave- Steve, you.....

Steve- Shut up. I didn't like you when I was here. I don't like you now. It’s real simple. Stone Cold has a Stunner for each and every one of ya. I want that world title shot, and I'm gonna take it. And that's the bottom line, ‘cause Stone Cold said so!

(7) ONE MAN GANG (FWA)
vs.
(10) HULK HOGAN (PWUSA)

Gang attacks Hogan at the bell, beating him down in the corner.  Gang follows with a huge slam and then an elbow drop, but Hogan manages to get the shoulder up at 1.  Gang shoots Hogan off and ducks his head, but Hogan lands a kick to the chest and then floors Gang with a big clothesline.  Gang does not go off his feet, but a 2nd clothesline takes him out of the ring to the floor.  Hogan follows him out, but Skandor Akbar provides the distraction allowing Gang to nail Hogan.  He rams his back into the ring post, then goes to work on it for the rest of the match.  Gang slaps on the bear hug, but Hogan starts to ‘Hulk Up’ and he fights out with slaps to the ear.  Hogan hits 3 big right hands and hits the ropes, but Gang levels him with a clothesline.  Gang tosses Hogan into the corner and hits the avalanche, but Hogan kicks out at 2!  Gang goes up top for the 747, but Hogan rolls out of the way!!!!  Both men are down and Hogan starts to stir.  Hogan starts ‘Hulking Up’, and the Gang rains down blows on his head.  Hogan pops up . . . YOU!  Hogan blocks the right hand by Gang and fires off with 3 of his own.  He whips him off . . . BIG BOOT!  Hogan hits the ropes for the leg drop, but Akbar reaches in and grabs Hogan’s leg!  Hogan grabs Akbar, but Gang charges from behind.  Hogan moves at the last second, and Akbar and Gang collide!  Akbar is knocked to the floor, and Hogan rolls Gang up from behind with a school boy for the quick 3 count!!!!

*Dave Brown joins Hogan in the ring*

Dave- Hulkster, that was a big win for you there.

Hulk- Well ya know something Dangerous Dave, that was one big mean dude. But when you've got the power of an arena full of Hulkamaniacs behind you, you can't.....

*Hogan looks and notices Heel Section. Ever since he pinned OMG, they have all been holding up newspapers, as though they's rather be reading them then looking at him*

Hulk- Well, the great thing about the USA is even if you are a jerk, you can still express yourself. It don't matter who I face in the next round. The Hulkster will train, say his prayers, and eat his vitamins and walk through everybody else in this tournament. Then at Wrestlemania, what ya gonna do, when Hulk Hogan brings the pythons for you?!?!?

(5) ‘Hacksaw’ JIM DUGGAN (FWA)
vs.
(12) UMAGA (TSW)

This match is a non-stop brawl from the start.  Wrestling holds are the farthest things from these guys minds as they tear into each other.  The action spills outside the ring, and both men are in danger of getting counted out early for brawling around the ring.  Umaga catches Duggan out of nowhere with a Samoan drop, allowing him to take over.  Umaga hits the Samoan Wrecking Ball, but Duggan manages to kick out of the pin attempt.  Umaga goes up top for the splash, but Duggan rolls out of the way!!!!  Both men are down and as they start to get to their feet Duggan starts stomping to get the crowd behind him.  He charges Umaga and takes him out with a series of clotheslines, then puts his hands on his hips and lets out a big ‘Hooooooooo!’  Duggan scoops up Umaga and slams him to the mat, then comes off the ropes and drops a huge knee!  Duggan goes for the 3 point stance clothesline, but Umaga meets him with a big superkick!  Duggan topples through the ropes to the outside, and Umaga follows and goes for the Samoan Spike.  Duggan dodges, and Umaga smashes his hand against the ring post!!!!  Umaga rolls back in clutching his hand, and Duggan gets down in the 3 point stance and hits the charging clothesline to finish off the big Samoan 1 . . . 2 . . . 3!

Lance- The Samoan Bulldozer gets taken out by the Big Hacksaw.

Larry- Duggan proves he is not to be underestimated. That Samoan is one bad dude. He'll face Steve Austin in the next round and that will be one hell of a brawl.  Well, the first round is almost complete, and coming up next, one of RWA's representatives, Adam "Edge" Copeland, takes on John Cena.

Lance - Edge won the RWA TV Title recently. Cena is no stranger to that title. He is a former holder of it. This one's up next, so let's go to the ring.

(Cool JOHN CENA (SSW)
vs.
(9) ADAM ‘Edge’ COPELAND (RWA)

Both men staredown to start, thenthey lock up.  It is a power struggle at first, but Cena forces Edge back into the corner and gives a clean break.  They lock up again, but this time Edge shoves Cena into the corner.  The ref tries to get a clean break, but Edge nails Cena with a flurry fo right hands and stomps him to the mat.  Cena fights back with rights of his own and slams Edge’s head into the buckles.  He goes for the one handed bulldog, but Edge shoves him off and then flattens him with a big boot!  Edge pulls Cena up but Cena nails some right hands, but Edge reverses a whip off the ropes and hits a power slam for a close 2 count.  Edge punishes Cena, hitting a clothesline and then dropping a couple of elbows on him.  Cena fights back, hitting a kick to the gut and then hitting the front flip bulldog on Edge out of nowhere.  Cena only gets a 1 count, and Edge nails him with a dropkick as he gets back up.  Cena reverses a whip and both men take each other out with clotheslines and they are both down.  Out comes James Storm, and he tries to cheer his partner on.  Both men are up, and Cena ducks a clothesline and fires back with several flying shoulder blocks.  Cena hits the proto-plex . . . YOU CAN’T SEE ME!!!!  5 knuckle shuffle connects and Cena goes for the F-U but Edge slips off the back and goes for the Edge-o-matic but Cena blocks it.  Cena goes for the F-U again but Edge gets out again and this time takes Cena out with the Edge-ecution!  Edge covers but Cene barely gets the shoulder up!  Edge sets for the spear, but Cena takes him down with a drop toehold . . . STFU!!!!  Edge is about to tap but barely reaches the ropes.  Cena sets again for the F-U and he gets Edge up, but Storm is on the apron and he spits beer at Cena!  Cena drops Edge and nails Storm, knocking him off the apron to the floor.  He turns around . . . RIGHT INTO THE SPEAR BY EDGE!!!!  1 . . . 2 . . . NOOOOO!  Cena manages to barely kick out, but Edge sets again . . . ANOTHER SPEAR!!!!  This time Edge hooks the leg and manages to get the 1 . . . 2 . . . 3 on Cena!!!!

*Edge and Storm bail out of the ring, and they join Dave at ringside.  The Heel Section is giving Edge a standing ovation and chanting "EDGE IS KING"*

Dave- Adam, you advance after a hard match, but if it would not have been for this man right here . . .’

Adam- Whatever, geek. In an arena full of morons, we have one group here who knows what the hell they are talking about. I looked at the brackets. Next round, I will face Lumpy Rhodes or Harley Fatass. I'll be watching this next match because I am a student of this game. And to whoever wins . . .’

Storm- ‘You’re looking at the next King of the Ring right here . . . SORRY . . . ABOUT YOUR DAMN LUCK!’

Larry- Adam Copeland has been on such a rip lately. He and James Storm are the Mid American tag champs, he won the TV Title, recently, and now he advances to the next round of King of the Ring. Our last match is up. Harley Race, a former world tag champion takes on BTPW's Dusty Rhodes.

(1) ‘American Dream’ DUSTY RHODES (BTPW)
vs
(16) HARLEY RACE (FA)

The fans are solidly behind Dusty as the 2 lock up.  Race pushes Dusty back in the corner and shoves him, but Dusty cocks the elbow and forces Race to back off.  They lock up again, and Dusty shows some quickness with an arm drag and a scoop slam on Race.  Dusty fakes an elbow drop, then boots Race right in the face, forcing him to roll out of the ring.  Dusty fires up the crowd as Race walks it off outside, then he climsb in and goes right to the eyes of Dusty.  Race hammers Dusty with some wicked forearm shots, then snapmares him and drops the knee to the face.  Race picks Dusty up and slams him!!!!  Race drops a headbutt on Rhodes, then another, and then another!  He covers, but Dusty is somehow able to kick out at 2.  Race sets for the piledriver, but Dusty backdrops out of it.  Both men are down for a moment, but as they get to their feet Dusty blocks a right hand and fires back with some jabs of his own.  Dusty hits the flip, flop and fly and knocks Race to the mat with a bionic elbow!  Dusty whips Race into the ropes, but Race ducks the clothesline and takes Dusty out with the flying knee!  Race locks on the Indian deathlock on Dusty!  Dusty is in pain, but he fights the move for an insanely long time before making it to the ropes.  Race tries to continue to work on the knee, but Dusty reverses out and gets Race in the figure four.  Now it is Race’s turn to scream!  Race makes it to the ropes to reverse, and Dusty goes for a DDT but Race gets out and hits a cradle suplex!  1 . . . 2 . . . NOOOOO!  Dusty kicks out!  Race goes up top and tries the diving headbutt, but Dusty moves!  Both men are down, but Dusty slowly climbs to the top rope . . . FLYING BODYPRESS BY DUSTY!!!!  1 . . . 2 . . . 3!!!!  Rhodes pulls it out!!!!

*Dave joins Dusty in the ring*

Dave- Dusty, you advance to the next round after probably the toughest first round match so far.  Next up you will face Adam"Edge"Copeland. Any thoughts?
Dusty- Yeah I heard that fool out here. Boy you don't know what kinda can of worms you opened. Now you gotsta deal with the dealer. You in foe one hell of an ass whuppin'! When . . .

*Dusty stops as James Storm comes back out and gets in the ring*

James- Dusty, ain't nobody in this building understands a damn thing you say. You been up in BTPW tryin' to be something. The only thing you are being is an over eater. Look at you. I swear the shadow of your ass weighs ten pounds. It’s obvious you have no business being a role model. That loser son of yours didn't even . . .

*Dusty slugs Storm and the crowd pops loud! He stands over Storm, daring him to get up, but he doesn’t see Edge slide into the ring behind him.  The crowd screams at Rhodes to turn around and he does . . . RIGHT INTO THE SPEAR BY EDGE!!!!  Copeland and Storm start putting the boots to Dusty, but out of the back run Dustin Rhodes, JYD, and Jim Duggan to make the save!  As the show closes, Copeland and Storm point and laugh at Rhodes. As Dusty gets up, he smiles and yells to Copeland he won't be so lucky in the next round*
