Live from US Cellular Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin . . . this is . . .
SHOOTING . . .STARS . . . WRESTLING!!!! The opening SSW promo airs to ‘MILLIONAIRE’ by Queens of the Stone AgeThe screen is blank for a moment as we can here the fans chanting ‘S . . . S . . . W!!!! . . . S . . . S . . . W!!!!’ The screen comes up on a rowdy arena full of fans pumping their fists as strobe lights go off through the venue and the camera zooms in and out. We go to ringside with Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan. Joe and Mike welcome everyone and set up tonight’s show, but they are interrupted by the familiar music of the Hart Foundation right from the start.
Out of the back comes the SSW Genesis champion Owen Hart along with Lance Storm, Nattie Neidhart, Jimmy Hart, and the SSW tag team champions Teddy Hart and Harry Smith. Owen gets on the mic and gloats about the fact that he is still the Genesis champion this week, and he did the unthinkable when he pinned Taz’s shoulders to the mat for the 3 count. No one thought he could do it, but he did because he is the greatest singles champion in the NWA. He has been the Genesis champion since Starrcade last year, and he will be the champion when Starrcade rolls around this year.
Owen is cut off as Team Domination’s music hits and Kurt Angle comes up through the stage. Angle asks Owen if he ever shuts up. Owen is still the champion because he has no integrity, which is something that Angle is really big on. He won an Olympic Gold Medal with a broken freakin’ neck. Owen tells him that he is outnumbered and all he has to do is give the word and the Hart Foundation will take him out. Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin come out of the back and stand on either side of Angle, and now the odds are even. Angle challenges anyone from the Hart Foundation to step in the ring against some real competition. Owen says he just defended his belt last week and he doesn’t have to again for another 30 days. He says that the rest of the Hart Foundation will accept the challenge though, and they can make it a 6 man tag match. We have ourselves a main event tonight!
In the back, we see THE FUTURE walking through the back. They pass Shane Helms and Ted Dibiase JR stops and tells Helms that he sees a lot of talent in him. He belongs with the future because the ‘powers that be’ in SSW would rather see him dressed up like a super hero out of a 5 year olds comic book. His talent should be what gets him over. He tells him he belongs in the FUTURE because they are going to get themelves over whether the people like it or not. Helms turns him down, and the FUTURE end up jumping him and beating him down.Commercial BreakBack from break, Mike and Joe talk about the Future attacking Helms backstage. They are getting tired of the group’s arrogance, and they have only been around for a couple of weeks!!!! Tonight, they are finally going to see a member of the Future in the ring.
Match 1: Singles Match
John Cena
Vs.
Chuck PalumboCena and Palumbo slug it out at the start, but Cena quickly gains the upper hand. Palumbo rakes the eyes to buy himself some time but walks right in to the ‘Proto-plex’ from Cena. ‘YOU CAN’T SEE ME!’ Cena hits the ropes and nails the 5 knuckle shuffle, but Palumbo fights out of the F-U attempt. Palumbo goes for the Jungle kick, but Cena catches his foot and locks him in the STFU!!!! Palumbo taps!!!!
‘Here is your winner . . . John Cena’
Cena celebrates when ‘War Machine’ by KISS hits and out comes Taz to the ring in street clothes. Taz gets on the mic and tells Cena that he isn’t out there to thank him for trying to help him last week, he is there to tell him to keep his nose out of his business. He doesn’t want Cena’s help and he doesn’t need Cena’s help. Cena takes the mic and tells Taz that, when it comes to the Hart Foundation, he makes it his business. Taz tells him that playing hero is going to wind up getting him hurt, but Cena says that he will take his chances. Taz tells him that is not a smart idea, and he takes off his sunglasses and his leather jacket. It looks like both men are going to throw down but out comes Shane McMahon. Shane brings out an army of security to keep the two men from fighting, and they end up separating them.
Commercial BreakIN THE BACK: we are introduced to Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, who are SSW’s new backstage interview girls. They come off as very vain, and only want to talk about themselves. They try to get a word with Beth Phoenix as she walks by, but instead the interview turns in to a session of them running Beth down, calling her overweight and ugly. Beth gets pissed and challenges them to a match tonight . . . BOTH OF THEM. Match 2: Singles match
Ted Diabiase Jr.
vs.
‘Sugar’ Shane HelmsThis match does not take place as originally scheduled, as Dibiase substitutes Brent Albright in his place. Helms’ quickness gives Albright fits, but he is able to ground him and work him over on the mat. Helms fights back, nailing Albright with the ‘Sugar Smack’ for a near fall and then hitting a ‘Nightmare on Helms Street’ that Albright barely kicks out of. Helms goes up top, but allows himself to be distracted by Dibiase and Roode on the outside. He flies off the top with a HUGE flying bodypress onto both men on the concrete floor! Albright grabs Helms and tosses him face-first into the ring post, then tosses him back into the ring. He picks him up and hits a half-nelson suplex and goes for the cover, but pulls Helms up at the 2 count! He locks Helms in a hammerlock/front facelock combo and starts pummeling him with knee strikes to the head (the Gun Rack). The ref steps in and stops the match when Helms stops responding and awards the match to Albright.
‘Here is your winner via TKO . . . the ‘Shooter’ Brent Albright
Commercial BreakMatch 3: Women’s division handi-cap match
Beth Phoenix
vs.
Angelina Love & Velvet SkyBeth overwhelms Love and Sky with her power from the onset, but they show good teamwork in taking over the match from her. Still, Beth shows why she is one of the top athletes in the new women’s division as she comes back, hitting a powerbomb on Velvet Sky. Love tries to come in and break up the pin, but instead Beth hits her with the chickenwing face-buster right on top of the prone Velvet Sky. She covers both of them and gets the win.
‘Here is your winner . . . Beth Phoenix!’
Beth gets a tremendous pop from the fans after the match. So much so that she is even a little surprised by it.
IN THE BACK: We see Jamie Noble and Kid Kash arguing with Paul London and Brian Kendrick over who should get a shot at the SSW tag titles. Both teams say they should get the shot first and they are better than the other. Noble says that he and Kash are never afraid of a fight so they should settle it in the ring. Kendrick says they can do it next week. Match 4: SSW Pure title match:
‘American Dragon’ Bryan Danielson
vs.
CM Punk Both men start out very slow in this one, feeling each other out and exchanging basic holds and lockups. Neither man has the advantage and are left in a standoff after 5 solid minutes, and we have to take a break.
Commercial BreakBack from break, Danielson has taken over and is working on the knees of Punk. He ties him up in the Mexican Surfboard and stomps on the knees, then picks him up in the hold. Punk has to reach out and grab the ropes to break an Indian Deathlock from Punk. Punk fires back, nailing Danielson with some MMA kicks and then tossing him into the corner and hitting the ‘kitchen sink’ knee. Punk bulldogs him down, but when he goes for the springboard clothesline Danielson grabs him out of the air and takes him to the mat and locks in the Cattle Mutilation! Punk fights out, spending another rope break. Danielson goes up top for the flying headbut, but Punk rolls out of the way and then nails him with a kick to the head. He hits a Urinage and locks Danielson in the Anaconda Vice, but Danielson quickly gets to the ropes to break it. Punk hammers Danielson with forearms, but Danielson ducks a roaring forearm and catches Punk on his shoulders and starts the Airplace Spin! Danielson goes around nearly 20 times, and both men collapse to the mat unable to move. As both men are laying there, out of the back comes the ‘Shooter’ Brent Albright. He stands at ringside to watch the match. They get to their feet at the same time, but Punk goes for the ‘Go to Sleep’. Danielson slips off the back and tries for the Cattle Mutilation again but Punk gets out of it. Danielson goes for the super back suplex on Punk, but he turns in mid-air and lands right on top of Dragon!!!! Punk immediately locks in the Anaconda Vice!!!! Danielson is fading fast, and the ref raises his hand once . . . twice . . . 3 times!!!!!
Punk let’s go and raises his hands, but the ref points to Danielson’s leg, which is draped over the bottom rope. The ref has no choice but to restart the match, much to Punk’s dismay. He charges Danielson, only to get blasted with a European uppercut. Danielson charges but Punk catches him in a snap powerslam. Both men are down again, and a frustrated Albright climbs onto the ring apron. Punk gets to his feet and looks at Albright in confusion, but Danielson dropkicks Punk from behind and knocks him into Albright! Albright grabs Punk and drops him throat-first across the ropes. Danielson is talking with the ref and doesn’t see it, and he grabs Punk and rolls him up in a small package as he stumbles back. The ref counts 3!
‘Here is your winner . . . and STILL Pure Wrestling Champion . . . ‘American Dragon’ Bryan Danielson!
Danielson holds the belt up, but Albright slides in and attacks him! Albright hits the half-nelson suplex and lays Danielson out. Punk is back up and he jumps on Albright, but Ted JR and Roode grab Albright and pull him off of Punk. They force him back, not allowing him to go after Punk.
A promo airs showing highlights from some of SSW’s first shows. It talks about how Starrcade was the launching point for the ‘Next Chapter’, and the ‘grand-daddy of them all’ is coming up very soon. Commercial Break6 man tag team match:
Team Domination (Kurt Angle, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas)
Vs.
The Hart Foundation (Lance Storm, Teddy Hart, Harry Smith)The action is wild and crazy in this one. It starts out as a wild brawl, but the Hart Foundation takes over when Owen Hart interferes and gets a cheap shot in on Haas. Haas gets worked over for a little bit, but he manages to make the tag in to Angle. Angle hits the ring and starts suplexing EVERYONE! He looks at Owen and calls him into the ring but this allows Storm to get a cheap shot in from behind. Storm picks him up for the Deep Impact piledriver, but Angle reverses out of it and locks him in the ankle lock. Owen gets on the apron to distract Angle, and Angle lets go and goes after Owen. This leaves Harry and Teddy in the ring to go at it with Haas and Benjamin, and it looks like the Foundation is going to win but Teddy misses a corkscrew splash from the top. This allows Benjamin to hit the ‘Paydirt’ on Teddy and score the pin.
‘Here are your winners . . . Team Domination!!!!’
The show goes off the air with Team Domination celebrating in the ring and Mike and Joe talking about how Team Domination has just gotten a pinfall victory over the SSW tag champions!!!!
