Ospreay looks out into the crowd as 61,000 are standing in anticipation as Ospreay looks to.Okada and says let's do it!
Will Ospreay vs Okada for the NWA Super Juniors World title
Okada and Ospreay showed how familiar they are with each other in an early exchange that included an Oscutter attempt. When Ospreay tried to gain the advantage with his high flying, Okada cut him off and hit Ospreay with a DDT on the floor. Okada then did it again and started focussing on Ospreay’s neck, only for Ospreay to fight back with a vertical suplex and a handspring Enziguri. Ospreay used Pip Pip Cheerio and Okada’s trademark dropkick to the outside before hitting a top rope Corkscrew Moonsault onto Okada. That was followed by Ospreay using a guardrail-assisted Oscutter on Okada.
Back inside the ring, Ospreay dominated Okada. Okada fought back with a high back body drop and a flapjack. Okada repeatedly locked in the Money Clip, forcing Ospreay to reach for the ropes. After Okada used his top rope elbow drop and the Rainmaker pose, Ospreay fired back with hard chops and a Lariat. Ospreay teased a Piledriver on the apron, only for Okada to counter it with a back body drop. When Okada went for a Tombstone on the apron, Ospreay countered by using an Oscutter on the apron. Okada avoided a count-out loss, only for Ospreay to catch him with a top rope dropkick. Ospreay used the diving elbow to the back of the head and the Oscutter to get a big nearfall that left the crowd gasping.
Ospreay superkick knocked down Okada, but Okada escaped the Storm Breaker and Okada took Ospreay down with a pair of wrist-clutch short arm Clotheslines. Ospreay avoided the Rainmaker but got caught off guard by Okada’s dropkicks, including one that caught Ospreay in mid-air. Okada then hit a spinning Tombstone, but Ospreay fired back with a flurry of strikes and the Chelsea Grin. The Hidden Blade was countered into a dropkick by Okada, but Ospreay came back with a modified Tombstone Piledriver for another nearfall. Ospreay then hit the Hidden Blade to get the win for his first successful title defense!
"Dr. Death" Steve Williams vs Walter for the Gateway tv title
Walter rolls Williams around on the mat and gets a two count. Dr. Death challenges Walter to a test of strength, and Walter gets the upperhand briefly, before Williams turns that around. But it’s no ploy, as Walter comes right back in the knuckle lock, and it’s a real test of wills.
Walter throws the first strike, a chop that Williams absorbs and nods at. Now they’re trading, and the sweat is just flying already. Thudding, heavy shots from both. Walter boots Williams in the chest, then gets sent off the ropes. Walter knocks Williams out of the ring, then follows him out with a DDT.
Walter goes up top, but Williams wanders off. When Steve tries to get back into the ring, Walter just kicks him in the face, then joins him on the floor again. Chop, scoop slam on the hard floor. Right now, he’s dominating the champion, and that move gives him the time to climb up and dive down to the floor with a crossbody.
Back in the ring, Walter powers Williams up for a vertical suplex. Kobashi grabs a chinlock after a failed pin attempt and keeps the control of the match. But as he lays in a series of chops, Dr. Death starts getting a little fired up, and finally starts firing back. But it’s not that he’s ignoring the shots or anything, because Walter just stays in control. Williams is responding with the sense that he’s about to turn the tide, but he doesn’t.
Another chinlock as Walter grounds the match again. Walter loses the advantage when Williams sidesteps a diving shoulderblock. Then Williams hits a brainbuster, and Walter immediately rolls out to the floor, knowing he’s in trouble if he stays put. Walter gets dropped face-first on the guardrail. Williams just stomping him in the head, digging a boot into his mush.
Back in and it’s Williams with a camel clutch for a moment, then another brainbuster. This time Walter can’t roll away, and it’s a two count. Walter trying to get back with chops, but eats a spinebuster for another two.
Williams runs into a desperation clothesline from Walter. Machine gun chops in the corner, but Williams shoves Walter away. Walter right back to it, though, then Williams with right hands from the southpaw stance. Walters foot is blocked, backdrop driver attempt is blocked and Walter DDT’s the champ.
Walter grabs a sleephold and the crowd are chanting for him, but Williams gets to his feet and to the ropes. Walter drives him down to the canvas, but runs into a fireman’s carry takeover, only to bounce right back up and smash Williams back down with a vicious lariat as Monsoon reminds the tv audience that Walter is a former National Champion.
Walter winds up for a second lariat, but that one is blocked. Williams can only swat him away in terms of actual offense, though, and moments later he’s drilled with another lariat for a two count. A scoop slam and a legdrop follow, then another legdrop, that one to the back of Williams’ head after the champ rolls over
Walters domination continues, until Williams just straight up bulls forward with both hands to drop the challenger, and then catches him coming in and slams him down. Walter sent off the ropes and pressed high, then dumped over the top to the floor. Williams takes a moment, then dives off the apron with a shoulderblock, and both of them are down in the streamers and shit on the floor. But the champ is now back in the match.
Williams gets back in and has a second wind, doing his little stomp taunt. Williams catches Walter up top and just HURLS him with a belly-to-belly superplay, shoves the referee aside and nails a Doctor Bomb for a big two count.
Oklahoma Stampede is blocked at the second turnbuckle. He tries it again and it’s another no-go, with Walter just falling on him. Walter with a glancing enzuigiri, then a dropkick to the knee, and the big man is down to a big reaction.
Walter with a backdrop driver of his own! Knee strikes from Walter, running knee to the head, then a bridging German suplay for two. Moonsault gets two. Walter rolling now, but has to find the big shot to put the match away. Another dropkick to the knee gets another big reaction, and Williams falls out to the floor, holding the injured leg.
When Williams tries to come back in, Walter drills him with a sliding dropkick. Back in, a kick to the gut and a running Rocker Dropper from Walter. More legdrops. A flying legdrop, connecting JUST as Williams had rolled over so that his back was down to the canvas. It gets two.
Walter trying to muscle Williams up to the top for a potential superplex, maybe, but then drags him back to the center for a power bomb, rolling over in the cradle for two. Williams’ attempt at a comeback again starts with him just lunging his weight at Walter, this time with a charging shoulderblock. Avalanche in the corner, overhead belly-to-belly suplay, both are down again. A two count for Dr. Death!
Williams trying for the backdrop driver, Walter elbows out, lands a backfist, but misses a second one. Williams just throws Walter to the mat, but Walter goes to the knee again. Hobbling, Williams has to throw what he can at Walter when the challenger gets hold of him, going for a finish. Suddenly, Williams throws Walter into the top turnbuckle from a backdrop driver as Walter staggers about, and Williams scoops him up for the Oklahoma Stampede! 1.......2........3! And STILLLLL Gateway tv champion...... Dr. Death Steve Williams!
Drew McIntyre vs Roddy Piper for the NWA World TV Title in a Chicago Street Fight
A Piper chant broke out as Gorilla said there were 60,000 fans chanting for Hot Rod. Piper went for an early suicide dive, but McIntyre punched him from the floor. Piper caught McIntyre with a kick when he was returning to the ring and then performed a dragon screw leg whip before applying a Figure Four. Piper turned it over and then McIntyre reached the ropes to break the hold. Piper rolled to the floor to sell his knee.
Piper caught McIntyre with a neckbreaker and covered him for a two count. Piper set up for a piledriver but McIntyre caught him with a knee to the head to avoid it. Piper ducked a clothesline and then clotheslined McIntyre, causing both men to tumble over the top rope to ringside.
McIntyre performed a sit-out powerbomb on Piper for a near fall. A “this is awesome” chant broke out. McIntyre went to a corner of the ring and counted down for his Claymore Kick finisher, but Piper caught him with a kick. McIntyre avoided the sleeper and went for a Future Shock DDT that Piper countered with a piledriver. Both men stayed down briefly.
Piper went for a crossbody but McIntyre caught him in the air with a Glasgow Kiss and then Future Shock DDT’d him, which led to another near fall. McIntyre hopped over the ropes and then went up top, but Piper cut him off and superplexed him for another near fall.
Piper looked to the crowd and fired up. Piper waited for McIntyre to get up and McIntyre lowblows Piper! Drew to the corner setting up for the Claymore. Piper begins to stumble to his feet and Drew charges in...... CLAYMORE! But Piper drops down and Drew hits the ref! Drew looks to the ref then Piper..... McIntyre sets up again...... CLAYMORE TO PIPER! DREW COVERS...... THERES NO REF! McIntyre is irate! He picks the ref up by his shirt, and shakes him. As this us going on, Piper starts getting his wits back. Piper reaches into his boot and pulls out a steel chain! Piper wraps it around his hand. McIntyre turns to Piper, who is still selling being groggy..... ONLY TO GET NAILED IN THE HEAD BY PIPER AND THE CHAIN!
McIntyre goes down! Piper makes the cover as the ref crawls over to count, 1........2.........3! And STILLLLLLL NWA WORLD TV CHAMPION...... RODDY PIPER!
Gorilla Monsoon: "That's two matches now that the Hot Rod has used that chain to get the victory over McIntyre! If you ask me, McIntyre is going to have to dig into his bag of tricks if he ever has a chance of defeating Roddy Piper!"
The crowd begins to buzz as the cage is being lowered down over the ring as it's time for our Main Event! It's time for WAR GAMES!!!!!
Eddie Kingston starts the match against Meng and Kingston is just here fir a fight in the early going. Meng is bleeding early but takes control with a low blow. But Kingston battles back and is back in control, looking for a figure four but Meng counters. Kingston hits a low blow of his own. Kingston applies a figure four but it makes no difference in this match. The referee flips a coin and The Heenan Family win which means they get the next man in the match. In goes Bobby Heenan!!! Gorilla says on commentary that Heenan has to be nuts to enter the match this early.
Heenan helps Meng beat down Kingston. But Kingston manages a bit of a comeback at the end of this stage as he’s joined by JBL who picks up the pace, hitting big powerslams on both Meng and Heenan.
MJF is the next man to enter, giving the Heenan Family a 3 on 2 advantage. JBL manages to double clothesline MJF and Meng as Heenan and Kingston go at it in the other ring. Meng piledrives JBL who no-sells.
AJ Styles is the 6th man in the match and he hits MJF with a enziguri. Barbarian is next in and he triple teams Kingston with Meng and MJF. Ron Simmons is the next man in and he picks up the pace for his team. He dropkicks Heenan and then repeatedly slingshots Barbarian into the cage. Lance Archer is the final man in for his team. This match is just chaos as all nine men go at it. And Styles is all over Archer. Mr. Perfect enters the match to complete the two teams and uses his a wristband on MJF. Pretty much everyone is bleeding at this stage. Simmons and JBL double team Heenan who is a bloody mess. Styles then beats down Archer as Barbarian lays out Perfect. APA double team Lance Archer as Hennig has MJF where he wants him too. Then Heenan makes the crucial mistake of being left in one ring alone with Kingston! Kingston beats down Heenan into submission! Heenan loses it for his team! The APA, Kingston, Perfect, and Styles leave the ring and the Heenan Family a bloody mess. MJF grabs Heenan and holds him in his arms then we see a man making his way to the ring. Its......... SAMOA JOE!
Joe enters the ring and just stalks MJF. Joe then holds up his Progress Heavyweight title high in the air.
Gorilla Monsoon: "Just when you thought MJF and The Brains night couldn't get any worse...... here's the Progress Heavyweight champion, Samoa Joe, reminding them that they have a match on July 28th to unify the Progress and Gateway titles! Fans, the Weasel just can't catch a break! That's going to do it for us here in Chicago everyone...... we hope you enjoyed the Gateway Bash! So long everybody!"
