WE ARE GOING BACK TO CALI as AEW is back in its home state this week …. We get a HUGE pyro explosion from the stage as the camera pans 10,000 strong in the HONDA CENTER as ‘DANNY CALIFORNIA’ by the Red Hot Chili Peppers plays on the loudspeakers …. Anaheim, California … IS … ALL ELITE!!




‘TERMINUS’ is a few short weeks away, and we join JOEY STYLES and PAT MCAFEE at the announce desk for a recap of AEW #46 …. Last week we saw AJ STYLES become the new UNITED STATES champion, defeating FINN BALOR in the tournament final …. After the match, AJ was confronted by GFW NExtGEn champion KENNY OMEGA, who revealed he had signed with AEW …. WILLIAM REGAL also made his AEW debut, confronting IWA World TV Champion BRYAN DANIELSON …. In the main event, unlikely tag team partners SHAWN MICHAELS and ‘Hangman’ ADAM PAGE united to battle HOUSE OF BLACK in an explosive match that saw ROMAN REIGNS come out and attack SHAWN MICHAELS, declaring that he is the next AEW champion!

TONIGHT we have an action-packed night of title matches as GFW NextGen Champion KENNY OMEGA makes his in-ring debut, BRYAN DANIELSON defends the IWA Television title against WILLIAM REGAL, FTR defends the AEW tag team titles against LOS GEURREROS, and the STEINERS put the GFW titles on the line against MARK & JAY BRISCOE ….




MATCH 1: KENNY OMEGA vs. JOHN MORRISON ———— GFW NextGen Title Match:

OMEGA makes his in-ring debut after debuting last week, putting on a great match agaist the athletic MORRISON that goes back and forth for a solid 15 minutes …. OMEGA wins with the One-winged Angel ….


IN THE BACK: AJ STYLES is shown watching on a monitor when he is approached by QUINN MCKAY …. She asks him for his thoughts on KENNY OMEGA and AJ says he is the US champion and OMEGA might be biting off a little more than he can chew because AJ is ‘Phenomenal’ …. His focus is on making the UNITED STATES title the most important title in AEW, and it starts next week with his rematch against FINN BALOR ….


Up next, we get an appearance by the #1 contender to the TV title, WCW’s own STING!  STING will captain a team at Survivor Series to face off with a the team captained by IWA World TV champion ‘American Dragon’ BRYAN DANIELSON.  STING says he has heard DANIELSON on TV talking about a lot of people, but not the #1 contender …. STING says he is confident in the team he has assembled for Survivor Series, but more importantly at some point during that match he is going to get his hands on DANIELSON ….

‘FINAL COUNTDOWN’ by Europe hits and here comes the World TV champion to the ring …. DANIELSON says there is a reason that he hasn’t mentioned STING, and that is because STING isn’t even the best wrestling on his TEAM!  He says that SAMOA JOE wrestled him to a 30 minute time limit draw on WCW #47, but that doesn’t mean anything because DANIELSON was never in any real danger …. DANIELSON is the best wrestler in the world!  STING may have won a popularity contest to become the #1 contender, but that doesn’t put him in DANIELSON’s league because DANIELSON is on another level!  He faces better competition without even walking out the doors of AEW …. Competition like WILLIAM REGAL, a man who he respects, even loves …. And a man he is going to destroy tonight …. See, it isn’t about being friends with his teammates, it’s about winning …. And DANIELSON has built a winning team, and victory is guaranteed as long as people like SAMOA JOE and WALTER fall in line and follow his lead!  He tells STING he’s glad he’s here because he can watch what he does to REGAL tonight because it is a little preview of what is in store for STING if they ever step in the ring ….



IN THE BACK –

QUINN is with CHARLOTTE FLAIR & TESSA BLANCHARD …. They look like they can’t stand to be in the same room with each other …. TESSA says they are very uneasy allies and CHARLOTTE makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with TESSA because she hates her …. She wants the womens title and nothing else …. TESSA agrees that the feeling is mutual but reminds CHARLOTTE that she is better than her …. Tonight they are going to take care of RHEA RIPLEY and LIV MORGAN because they were born and bred to be winners …. CHARLOTTE walks off, and TESSA says ‘But I’m the better one …’ where CHARLOTTE can’t hear her and then walks the opposite way ….


MATCH 2: RHEA RIPLEY & LIV MORGAN vs. (AEW Women’s Champion) TESSA BLANCHARD & CHARLOTTE FLAIR ———— Women’s Tag Team Match:

CHARLOTTE ends up getting pissed at TESSA and she walks out of the match, leaving TESSA alone to face both women …. LIV ends up pulling the big upset by pinning TESSA following the ObLIVion (rope hung flatliner) ….




IN THE BACK –

ADAM PAGE cuts a promo about his problems with the HOUSE OF BLACK …. PAGE says they keep standing in the way of his goal of being the AEW champion …. First it was BRODY KING, then THE FIEND …. MALAKAI BLACK is running from him …. BLACK shows up to confront PAGE and he says he isn’t running …. He is taking PAGE to the learning tree and one day PAGE will thank him …. PAGE attacks BLACK and we get a big brawl backstage that it takes AEW personnel to break up ….


JOEY STYLES confirms that next week it will be ADAM PAGE vs. MALAKAI BLACK in a steel cage match!  


MATCH 3: FTR (Dax Hardwood & Cash Wheeler) w/ Dan Lambert vs. LOS GEURREROS (Eddie & Chavo Jr.) ———— AEW Tag Team Title Match:

Excellent match here …. More GEURRERO shenanigans as EDDIE brings in one of the AEW tag title belts and tosses it to CASH, then he falls down and acts like CASH hit him with it …. Of course, as the ref is taking the belt away from CASH, CHAVO tosses the other one to EDDIE so he can whack CASH with it!  DAX barely makes the save …. LAMBERT gets involved, but CHAVO stops him and is going to hit him with the 3 amigos but DAX comes in and destroys CHAVO’s knee with a vicious chop block …. LAMBERT helps tie EDDIE up in the ropes so he can’t make the save for CHAVO as DAX locks him in a reverse Figure Four and CASH comes off the top with a stomp to the knee!  This is enough to force CHAVO to tap out, and FTR retain the titles ….

POST MATCH: CHAVO has a significant knee injury and has to be helped to the back ….


MATCH 4: RICK & SCOTT STEINER vs. JAY & MARK BRISCOE ———— GFW Tag Team Title Match:

This is a match that people have been wanting to see for a while now …. 2 brother teams that are over with the fans for different reasons …. THE STEINERS dominate early on, taking it to the mat and SCOTT hitting some suplexes on both BRISCOES …. RICK comes in, and the BRISCOES end up taking over using their brawling style and get the heat on RICK, even though the crowd is split between both teams …. SCOTT gets the hot tag and runs wild on both BRISCOES, hitting JAY with a Frankensteiner and a Tiger Bomb but it is MARK that flies in with the Froggy-bow to break it up …. The action breaks down, but out of the back run FTR and they attack both teams!  The match gets through out! ….

POST MATCH: SCOTT gets hit with the Big Rig finisher, while MARK and JAY take belt shots from FTR that take them out of the fight …. RICK is stuck all alone with both members of FTR, and they deliver a Spike Piledriver on the concrete floor!!!!  RICK is in bad shape and has to be taken out of the arena on a stretcher! FTR HAS INJURED CHAVO GEURRERO JR. and RICK STEINER IN THE SAME NIGHT! THEY'RE OUT OF CONTROL!




Up next we get ROMAN REIGNS & JACOB FATU coming out to the ring … REIGNS cuts a promo and says that he attacked SHAWN MICHAELS last week to let HBK know that this is HIS island …. HIS show …. And now he wants his throne and that is the AEW title …. But let’s be honest, the title is already his, HBK just doesn’t know it yet ….

HBK comes out of the crowd and slides in the ring behind REIGNS …. REIGNS turns around …. RIGHT INTO SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!!  HBK says if REIGNS wanted a title shot all he had to do was ask …. JACOB FATU goes after HBK, but HBK fights him off and staggers him with the Flying Forearm!  FATU is still on his feet an HBK starts tuning up the band!  FATU CATCHES SWEET CHIN MUSIC!  He pulls HBK into a Samoan Drop!  FATU hits the triple jump moonsault!  FATU is going to do it again, but this time REIGNS is up and stops him …. REIGNS is holding his jaw, looking almost insulted …. He tells FATU that he wants something left of HBK next week, and has FATU pick him up so he can drop him with a Superman Punch!  REIGNS holds the title and tells HBK “This is mine!”




MAIN EVENT: (Champion) ‘American Dragon’ BRYAN DANIELSON vs. WILLIAM REGAL ———— IWA World Television Title Match:

This is everything you would expect.  These guys beat the shit out of each other with stiff strikes and joint manipulating submission holds …. STING is ringside to watch the action …. At one point, the action spills out beside where STING is sitting and DANIELSON is in control but stops for a second to get right in STING’s face and flip him off …. STING doesn’t fall for it and doesn’t touch DANIELSON, but this allows REGAL to strike and regain the advantage ….

REGAL hits a knee trembler for a close 2 count, then he locks in the Regal Stretch but DANIELSOS escapes!  DANIELSON catches REGAL in the hammer and anvil elbows, THEN DROPS HIM ON HIS HEAD WITH A REGAL-PLEX!  REGAL NO SELLS IT!  REGAL-PLEX TO DANIELSON!  KNEE TREMBLER!  1 … 2 … NOOOOOOO!  They trade forearms, with the fans doing the whole “BOO!” … “YAY!” chant …. Discus Forearm by DANIELSON is met with a shoot headbutt from REGAL that bloodies the nose of DANIELSON, then REGAL hits a half-nelson suplex!  He goes for another Regal Stretch, but DANIELSON battles out …. BUSAIKU KNEE OUT OF NOWHERE!  DANIELSON with the hammer & anvil elbows again, then rolls into the Cattle Mutilation!  REGAL fights, but he is trapped in the middle of the ring and can’t make the ropes … the ref calls for the bell when REGAL doesn’t respond! ….


DANIELSON retains in a WAR!  He grabs the title and holds it up, taunting STING …. Of course this brings STING in the ring for a confrontation …. DANIELSON SLAPS STING!  STING unloads with the right hands, and DANIELSON tries to cover up but it does no good …. STING is enraged …. Gorilla press slam to DANIELSON, and then he hits the Stinger Splash!  SCORPION DEATHDROP!  STING stands over DANIELSON, then goes to leave the ring but as he heads up the aisle he stops to look back over his shoulder toward the ring …. You can tell STING is PISSED …. He heads back to the ring!  

STING comes back in and locks DANIELSON in the Scorpion Deathlock!  But wait, WALTER IS HERE!!!!  It looks like WALTER is admiring DANIELSON being in pain, BUT WALTER TURNS AND DESTROYS THE CHEST OF STING WITH A VICIOUS CHOP!!!!  The crowd is stunned!!!!  WALTER picks STING up and powerbombs him!  WALTER grabs DANIELSON by the arm and pulls him off the mat, not letting go of the arm and pulling him in so they are face to face …. WALTER says that he and DANIELSON may be teammates at Survivor Series, but he is coming for DANIELSON’s title ….

Charlotte and Tessa are gonna have to be on the same side at SURVIVOR SERIES which will make that match interesting.

FTR is becoming a fav of mine here.....
