HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEK:

- Chris Jericho debuted his ‘Pain Maker’ gimmick, challenging Shawn Michaels to a rematch for the AEW title …. The segmented ended with both Jericho AND the Rock getting laid out by the CLIQUE ….

- CM Punk was a guest on The Dirt Sheet w/ Miz & Morrison, where he continued to call out Hulk Hogan prior to their upcoming world title match at SUPER CLASH …

- HALL & NASH showed up as a surprise entrant in Tag Team Turmoil, with the winners receiving a title match against the A-LIST for the AEW tag titles …. HALL & NASH would win the match after eliminating THE REVIVAL ….



Huge pyro explodes from the stage and 10,000 strong are on their feet in the Beyond ‘Asylum’ in SoCal .... Mauro Renallo and Corey Graves join us ringside and LOS ANGELES . . . IS . . . ALL ELITE! . . .

MAURO – “AEW is rockin’ the casba is SoCal tonight!  I’m Mauro Renallo alongside Corey Graves and we want to welcome you in to the AEW Asylum for this week’s episode of ALL ELITE WRESTLING!  And Corey, right off the bat, we need to bring the fans up to speed that don’t know already just what has been happening leading up to the biggest match in IWA’s short history, HULK HOGAN vs. CM PUNK inside ‘Hell in a Cell’ coming up in 10 days at SUPER CLASH.”  

GRAVES – “Well Mauro, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few weeks you know that CM PUNK has been all over the IWA stirring up trouble.  Especially here on AEW …. Well, nothing was settled in the ‘Best of 3’ series between these two because of outside involvement so the only way to settle things is inside ‘Hell in a Cell’, and PUNK has promised to take HOGAN through Hell to get what he thinks he deserves ….”

MAURO – “We are going to take a deeper look at this situation later tonight, including PUNK stirring up trouble EVERYWHERE in the IWA.  But for right now, as you can see the ring is already set up for the DIRT SHEET so apparently that is how we are going to start tonight! ….”

THE A-LIST’s music hits and MIZ and MORRISON come out along with their entourage (TAYA VALKYRIE & MARYSE along with their publicist JILLIAN HALL) as well as their ‘bouncer’ BRAUN STROWMAN …. MIZ & MORRISON are out for the Dirt Sheet …. They have a more serious and worried tone this week and they talk about HALL & NASH winning the Tag Team Turmoil match last week to earn a tag title shot …. MIZ & MORRISON talk about how unfair the decision was for this weeks guests, THE REVIVAL …. DASH & DAWSON come out and MIZ tries to goad them on, talking about how they won that match and HALL & NASH came in and screwed them over …. MIZ and MORRISON’s fire up the REVIVAL and now they are pissed ….

HALL & NASH come out to break up the party and talk about how they are next in line for a title shot …. NASH says let’s get this over with tonight and they want the straps …. MIZ objects and starts making up excuses as to why they can’t defend the titles against them tonight, and says it’s because they are preparing for their world title match at SUPER CLASH against the UNDISPUTED ERA …. NASH calls all of them Vanilla Midgets …. DASH & DAWSON step up to HALL & NASH and talk about how the CLIQUE used their stroke with the office to get inserted in that match and rob THE REVIVAL when they are the true winners …. MIZ’s plan works, as this results in a brawl breaking out between THE REVIVAL and HALL & NASH as the A-LIST bail out and high-tail it for the back …. THE REVIVAL get laid out in the ring as DAWSON takes the Razor’s Edge from HALL and DASH takes the Jackknife from NASH …. HALL & NASH stand tall and staredown MIZ & MORRISON, who clutch their titles at the top of the ramp ….


IN THE BACK – DANIEL BRYAN is interviewed about his interaction with CODY RHODES on last weeks show …. BRYAN doesn’t know what crawled up CODY’s butt, but he will be more than happy to hash it out with him in the ring if that is what he wants him to do ….


SAMOA JOE vs. MAVEN HUFFMAN

RESULTS:  Maven hits a dropkick right off the bat to take JOE off his feet …. This just pisses JOE off and he beats the shit out of MAVEN from here on out …. JOE ends the squash with a Muscle Buster followed by the Coquina Clutch for the submission ….


CHARLY is on the stage and she brings out CODY RHODES for an interview …. CODY tells her ‘It’s just CODY now.’  He heard what DANIEL BRYAN said earlier and tells him to keep CODY’s name out of his mouth …. He is his own man and lives in no ones shadow and he won’t be disrespected by anyone, least of all DANIEL BRYAN …. This brings out DANIEL BRYAN …. He doesn’t know what CODY’s problem is but if he wants a match or a fight, all he had to do was say so …. CODY turns away, but then strikes and kicks right DANIEL between the legs!  BRYAN collapses holding his balls, then CODY gets right down in BRYAN’s face …. He asks him for a match next week, then walks off and leaves BRYAN laying ….


CHARLIE HAAS & SHELTON BENJAMIN vs. MATT & JEFF HARDY

RESULTS: Mauro and Corey put over HAAS & BENJAMIN’s performance in last weeks Turmoil match, lasting nearly 1 hour in the match before being eliminated by THE REVIVAL …. Graves says this should put them right in the middle of the tag team hunt …. This is a good back and forth match that sees HAAS & BENJAMIN pull out the win after JEFF misses a Swanton Bomb taking himself out of the match and then they hit the Superkick + German Suplex on MATT to score the pin ….


Up next, CHARLY CARUSO is out again and brings out ‘Hangman’ ADAM PAGE …. She talks about PAGE having wins over NIKITA KOLOFF, beating MIRO 2 weeks ago and then going to the time limit against LANCE STORM last week …. PAGE is on quite a roll in AEW …. PAGE tries to play the humble youngster here but he is interrupted by the arrival of ELI DRAKE!  LET ME TALK TO YA!

DRAKE wants to know why he isn’t the one out here being interviewed right now?  Drake says for 15 straight minutes and did what no one thought was possible and that was ‘out-wrestle the best wrestler in AEW’ DANIEL BRYAN …. DRAKE made one mistake, and that let BRYAN get a lucky submission on him …. For 14 minutes and 58 seconds he was the best wrestler in the ring …. Why is no one talking about that?  2 weeks ago he was the man of the hour, then last week, where was ELI DRAKE?  Sitting in catering! …. Well,  UH UH!  When he stepped foot in this company he told the world that the name E … LI … DRAKE was gonna be on everyone’s lips …. And he isn’t going to let anyone push him down, least of all ADAM PAGE … and that’s not an insult … THAT is just a fact of life!  

PAGE tosses his beer in ELI DRAKE’s face and we’ve got a brawl!!!!  PAGE gets the better of it and tosses DRAKE in the ring and a referee comes down and we’ve got an impromptu match!  

ELI DRAKE vs. ‘Hangman’ ADAM PAGE

RESULTS: DRAKE quickly turns the tables and dispatches PAGE to the floor …. PAGE comes back with a suplex from the apron to the floor and then a plancha …. They fight around the ring and DRAKE tries to give PAGE the Gravy Train on the ring apron but PAGE blocks it and tosses DRAKE back into the ring …. PAGE goes for the Buckshot Lariat, but DRAKE pulls the referee in the way and he eats the move instead!  DRAKE takes advantage and lays PAGE out with the Gravy Train!  We have no ref and the match is obviously thrown out, but DRAKE slaps his hand on the mat 3 times simulating the 3 count and declares himself the winner ….


IN THE BACK –

We get QUINN MCKAY with IVAN KOLOFF & MIRO …. She questions him about the recent issues with KURT ANGLE and his nephew NIKITA, and IVAN gloats about using his power of attorney to keep NIKITA off TV …. IVAN says NIKITA needs to ‘comes to his senses’ …. IVAN says since he is the man that brought NIKITA to the USA from Russia he has all the power over NIKITA’s contract and work visa and finances ….

KURT ANGLE interrupts the interview and says he doesn’t care about NIKITA, but IVAN isn’t going to run roughshod over AEW.  IVAN says ANGLE thinks he is so tough …. IVAN demands that Russia is still superior to America and he is going to prove it by destroying ANGLE …. If he really IS an American Hero, he will face him and MIRO in a handicap match!  ANGLE accepts the challenge ….


THE ROCK vs. X-PAC w/ SHAWN MICHAELS, SCOTT HALL & KEVIN NASH

RESULTS: This is X-PAC’s in-ring debut …. ROCK’s issues with the CLIQUE continue here, as MICHAELS pulls his sophomore antics at ringside to distract ROCK and he has to battle interference from HALL & NASH …. ROCK is able to fight off HALL & NASH with right hands, but HBK grabs ROCK and tosses him into the ring post …. HBK tosses ROCK back in the ring, and X-PAC hits a spinning heel kick and gets the 3 count in the upset!

HBK, HALL, NASH put X-PAC on their shoulders like he’s just won a Super Bowl or something and they celebrate as ROCK looks on furious in the ring ….


VIDEO PACKAGE –

We get an impressive hype package for the HULK HOGAN – CM PUNK ‘Hell in a Cell’ match at SUPER CLASH.  We see PUNK showing up at Dusty Rhodes’ BBQ and crashing it, then the events of the contract signing on the recent episode of WCW …. We get a chronicle of the entire feud between the 2 dating back to last year, intercut with comments from both guys as well as other IWA superstars hyping this match as the biggest match in IWA history ….


We then get comments from PUNK and PAUL HEYMAN, with PUNK talking about how he is better than HOGAN and he will walk away with the title at SUPER CLASH …. He is cut off as in walks NICHOLAS DEVANNES, who is with JON MOXLEY …. DEVANNES says that he represents all of the UWF, and because of him they are not dead …. He starts trying to hype PUNK up, PUNK doesn’t like the look of things …. He asks why JON MOXLEY is even there, and MOXLEY tells PUNK not to worry, he’s on his side …. Very disingenuous …. DEVANNES tells PUNK not to worry, he is just here to protect DEVANNES investment …. DEVANNES keeps saying that he’s not worried and he knows PUNK is going to bring home all the gold at SUPER CLASH …. PUNK looks at HEYMAN like he is confused by all of this, HEYMAN whispers something in PUNK’s ear and PUNK still doesn’t look happy while DEVANNES is all smiles and MOXLEY is standing there with a smug look on his face ….


Back in the arena, the lights drop and ‘JUDAS’ by Fozzy hits …. However, instead of the CHRIS JERICHO we are used to seeing we get the debut of the ‘Painmaker’ character from JERICHO’s time in Japan ….


Main Event: (Champion) ‘Heartbreak Kid’ SHAWN MICHAELS vs. ‘The Painmaker’ CHRIS JERICHO ------ AEW Elite title match

RESULTS: JERICHO’s character has completely changed now and he is more aggressive and violent …. JERICHO slaps HBK from the outset and then hits some chops and a back elbow …. HBK takes a powder to the floor, but takes a little too long jawing with the fans and JERICHO hits him with a triangle dropkick knocking him to the floor …. JERICHO continues the attack, dropping HBK across the guardrail and then slamming him into the steps …. HBK reverses a whip and sends JERICHO into the steps and then he lays in the stomps …. HBK takes the steps apart and then piledrives JERICHO on the ring steps!!!!  HBK is in control now and slams JERICHO and then goes up top for the top rope elbow …. JERICHO gets the knees up into the back!  Bulldog and a Lionsault but HBK kicks out at 2!  JERICHO misses the Judas Effect and HBK gets a backslide for 2, then a swinging neckbreaker …. Up top and this time the top rope elbow connects!  HBK tunes up the band, but JERICHO ducks the Sweet Chin Music and backdrops HBK to the floor!  JERICHO follows him out and connects with the Judas Effect!  HBK is down, but instead of throwing him back in he looks at the announce table and starts taking it apart ….

JERICHO is going to put HBK through the table, but HBK battles out …. HBK with a chair, but as he raises it to hit JERICHO, JERICHO kicks him right between the legs!  This results in the DQ!


JERICHO has the chair now and he raises it to smash HBK but here comes HALL & NASH!!!!  But here come the REVIVAL and attack HALL & NASH from behind!!!!  HALL & NASH brawl with the REVIVAL, and JERICHO just smiles and turns his attention back to HBK …. He raises the chair to smash HBK, but this time HBK low blows JERICHO!!!!  HBK picks up the chair now and he is going to smash JERICHO, but THE ROCK slides into the ring behind him!  He spins HBK around … ROCK BOTTOM!!!!  JERICHO and HBK are laying next to each other, and off comes the elbow pad!  ROCK hits the ropes and drives a DOUBLE People’s Elbow to both JERICHO and HBK!!!!  ROCK stands tall over to end the show ….  

I FN love the A-LISTERS!!

The tag scene here is just tremendous and most likely my favorite part of this promotion right now!

I really hope JOE makes some waves here!

Why AEW allows all those goons to be at ringside is as puzzling as why the ROCK didn't bring anyone with him!
