WE ARE GOING BACK TO CALI as AEW is back in its home state this week …. We get a HUGE pyro explosion from the stage as the camera pans 10,000 strong in the HONDA CENTER as ‘DANNY CALIFORNIA’ by the Red Hot Chili Peppers plays on the loudspeakers
…. Anaheim, California … IS … ALL ELITE!!




AEW #43 is in the books, and we are on the road to ‘TERMINUS’ …. JOEY STYLES and PAT MCAFEE explain the rebrand of AEW as ‘Terminus’ that will take place at AEW #50, as announced by DANA WHITE last week …. They recap last week’s show, which saw THE REVIVAL win the AEW tag team titles in a ladder match, the beginning of the UNITED STATES title tournament, as well as RHEA RIPLEY winning the women’s gauntlet match to earn the next title shot at AEW Women’s Champion TESSA BLANCHARD …. In the final segment, ROMAN REIGNS confronted the ROCK and explained the reason why he cost THE ROCK the AEW title in his match against SHAWN MICHAELS ….


The show kicks off with the arrival of the IWA World TV Champion ‘American Dragon’ BRYAN DANIELSON …. DANIELSON talks about the upcoming Survivor Series event, and talks about the people that he has chosen for his team …. His teammates will be WALTER, SAMOA JOE, RON SIMMONS and HARLEY RACE.  He says that he and RACE had a little run in on the latest BTPW show, but that will not affect their ability to be teammates as long as RACE follows his lead …. He is clear cut leader of the team, because he is the best wrestler in the world …. Everyone else needs to fall in line ….




DANIELSON goes on to issue his open challenge for a TV title shot this week, and out comes CODY RHODES!  Before CODY can challenge him, DANIELSON cuts him off and says that he won’t be facing CODY …. Instead, CODY can sit here and watch …. CODY is lost etc. and DANIELSON doesn’t want to fight him, he wants to help him …. DANIELSON then proposes that he and CODY join forces!  CODY is stunned …. DANIELSONS opponent comes out, and it is ‘Dr. Death’ STEVE WILLIAMS!!!!  


MATCH 3: (Champion) ‘American Dragon’ BRYAN DANIELSON vs. ‘Dr. Death’ STEVE WILLIAMS ———— IWA World Television Title Match

CODY ends up getting involved, but he actually costs WILLIAMS the match as DANIELSON is able to cradle WILLIAMS off the distraction for the pin! ….

POST MATCH: DOC and CODY get into some pushing and shoving after the match, but DANIELSON comes from behind and chop blocks the knee of WILLIAMS!!!!  DANIELSON yells at CODY to watch him and he obliterates the knee of WILLIAMS until CODY pulls him off!  CODY and DANIELSON are face to face, but no blows are thrown as DANIELSON tells him to ‘think about it’ and walks off …


MATCH 1: BETH PHOENIX & SASHA BANKS vs. RHEA RIPLEY & ASUKA ———— Women’s Gauntlet Match

This match comes out of last week’s gauntlet match, with RIPLEY eliminating BANKS to win the gauntlet, and PHOENIX & ASUKA’s issues continuing to develop …. Lots of action in this one …. PHOENIX would hit the Glam Slam on ASUKA, but before she can make the pin RIPLEY breaks it up …. While RIPLEY and PHOENIX brawl, BANKS locks on the Banks Statement on ASUKA, forcing the former Women’s World Champion to tap out! ….

POST MATCH: RIPLEY back in the ring and ASUKA starts yelling at her …. RIPLEY fires off a headbutt and now her and ASUKA are brawling!!!!  PHOENIX is shown watching it all unfold in the aisle as BANKS celebrates at the top of the stage ….  


IN THE BACK –

AJ STYLES promo …. He failed to run the gauntlet for a IWA World title show in GFW, but now his sights are on the UNITED STATES TITLE …. He will face SCOTT HALL NEXT! ….


MATCH 2: AJ STYLES vs. SCOTT HALL ———— United States Title Match

HALL has been struggling to find his place following the dissolving of the N.W.O …. AJ has been struggling to gain momentum in AEW following attacks by MALAKAI BLACK and then losing to BRET HART in the Gauntlet in GFW …. Action is back and forth here, with AJ finally picking up the win following the Phenomenal Forearm to advance to the semi-finals ….




Up next, the new AEW tag team champions THE REVIVAL come out to the ring to celebrate …. However, they are accompanied by DAN LAMBERT!  THE REVIVAL cut a promo and say they are not going to be called by ‘The Revival’ anymore, now they are simply known as FTR …. And FTR stands for ….

Before they can deliver the tag line, they are interrupted by brand new GFW tag team champions THE STEINERS …. THE STEINERS cut a promo and say FTR basically stole the belts last week …. Winning a ladder match puts an asterisk by their title reign because the STEINERS didn’t climb no ladder to win the GFW belts, they beat some of the best teams in the IWA …. SCOTT issues a challenge for next week, with the AEW tag titles vs. GFW tag titles ‘Winner Take All’ …. LAMBERT accepts the challenge on behalf of FTR ….





IN THE BACK –

We see LOS GEURREROS rummaging through FTR’s stuff in their locker room backstage ….


The announcers note that SHAWN MICHAELS is still missing in action following AEW #43 … THE HOUSE OF BLACK attacked ADAM PAGE with HBK in the ring, but the lights went out and when they came back on HBK was nowhere to be found …. He isn’t here this week and hasn’t been able to be reached ….


MATCH 4: ‘Hangman’ ADAM PAGE vs. BRODY KING ———— Singles Match

This is a bloody brawl with both men bleeding buckets …. The ref lets this one go, so we get table spots and other weapons involved …. PAGE picks up the win after hitting the Buckshot Lariat ….

POST MATCH: Once again, MALAKAI BLACK slides in the ring and KO’s PAGE with the Black Mass.  BLACK sits down next to him again and that he passed the first challenge, but next week BLACK will take him to the learning tree one last time ….


CM PUNK is out for a promo … he talks about recovering from the war he went through with JOB MOXLEY at WRESTLEKINGDOM …. He says that he wants to be next in line for a shot at the AEW title and SHAWN MICHAELS ….


MAIN EVENT: KURT ANGLE vs. WALTER ———— United States Title Match

This is a WAR …. By the end of this one ANGLE’s chest is bloody red and WALTER is bleeding from his nose that might be broken …. ANGLE has WALTER trapped in the ankle lock when IMPERIUM hits the ring, and that is where things break down …. ANGLE with the rolling German suplexes, but WALTER kills him with a lariat for 2 …. WALTER heads up top, but ANGLE runs up the ropes and hits a top rope Angle Slam!!!!  1 … 2 … AICHNER puts WALTERS foot on the ropes!  Once again the numbers game catches up to ANGLE as he attacks AICHNER, which draws the attention of the ref …. AS the ref is putting AICHNER out of the ring, BARTHEL comes from the other side and attacks ANGLE, allowing WALTER to cave in ANGLE’s chest with a chop and then hit a powerbomb!  The ref turns around and counts the 1 … 2 … NOOOOO!  ANGLE kicks out!!!!  WALTER up top, but again ANGLE is up top with his and goes for ANOTHER top rope Angle Slam but this time WALTER fights him off and turns it into a TOP ROPE POWERBOMB!!!!  WALTER covers and gets the 1 … 2 … 3!!!!


The show closes with another segment including THE ROCK, as he comes out and addresses ROMAN REIGNS comments last week …. This brings out REIGNS and says that ROCK must not have heard him last week …. He told ROCK to acknowledge him or he can get off his island! …. Because they are on the Island of Relevancy and this is REGINS’ island …. ROCK says that he promised that he wouldn’t fight REIGNS because he is part of the family, but THE ROCK says the hell with that! …. ROCK says he will fight REIGNS, but this time REIGNS laughs and says that isn’t a warrior, he is not a tribal chief …. He’s an actor.  REIGNS is the warrior and the head of the table, and things only happen when he says they happen! ….

As ROCK is focused only on REIGNS, suddenly someone comes from behind and attacks the ROCK!  It’s JACOB FATU!!!!  FATU obliterates the ROCK, hitting 3 consecutive triple jump moonsaults!!!!  Trainers come out and tend to ROCK as REIGNS and FATU look on …. ROCK is loaded up on a stretcher, but REIGNS instructs FATU to hit one more, THIS TIME HITTING IT WITH THE ROCK LAID OUT ON THE STRETCHER!!!!  ROCK is stretchered out of the arena as the show ends ….
