BROADCAST: Streaming live on YouTube TV and the Progress TWITCH channel* We go ringside to Mauro & Corey as we start Night 1 of the Progress Atlas title tournament .... they run down the format of the tournament, which will consist of 4 individual 8 man tournaments with the winner facing off in a Fatal 4 way Iron Man match to crown the first champion ....* * * * * IN-RING SEGMENT * * * * Show starts with an in-ring segment involving new Universal Women’s Champion Ember Moon, the former champion Nia Jax, and Charlotte .... Charlotte wants her rematch that she never got .... Jax isn’t going to make excuses, she just wants to get her hands on Moon .... Moon will defend the title in a triple threat match against BOTH Jax and Charlotte tonight .... * * * * ROUND ONE * * * * **** (USA) 1. AJ Styles def. (UK) 8. Alexander Wolfe **** .... Wolfe controls early using brawling and power moves but AJ comes right back .... AJ scores with a pele but Wolfe blocks the Styles Clash and hits a rolling Death Valley Driver .... AJ comes back with the phenomenon (quebrada reverse ddt), then hits the springboard 450 splash to get the 3 count ....**** (USA) 3. Moose def. (UK) 6. Raymond Rowe **** .... Heavy hitting affair where Moose is finally able to overcome Rowe with the Hit Stick (Spear) ....**** (UK) 2. Nigel McGuiness def. (USA) 7. Cedric Alexander **** .... Alexander dazzles with high flying early on, but Nigel grounds him and attacks the arm viciously .... most of the match is Nigel grounding Alexander and destroying his arm .... Alexander comes back with kicks, but when he goes for a springboard his arm gives out and Nigel hangs him up on the top rope .... from there Nigel nearly takes his head off with the jawbreaker lariat, then locks on the London Dungeon .... There has been too much punishment to the arm and Alexander taps out ....**** (USA) 4. Tomasso Ciampa def. (USA) 5. Kyle O’Reilley **** .... This one is a strong style Dream with lots of strikes and heavy shots .... Ciampa survives Arm-ageddon and escapes to hit Project Ciampa for the win ....* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ***** (USA) Bianca BelAir w/ Naomi def. Santana w/ Alexa Bliss **** .... Bliss and Naomi get into a brawl at ringside, and while the ref pulls them apart Santana has the pin after the Shining Star Press .... She goes up top, but Naomi shoves her off the ropes and she falls throat-first onto the top rope .... This allows BelAir to drill Santana with the Burning Hammer to get the win ....After the match, the EST attack Bliss 2 on 1 .... Bliss tries to fight them off, but Santana recovers and makes the save for Bliss! Santana and Bliss clear the ring, and they finally appear to be on the same page heading into their Shimmer tag title defense on Night 3 of the Atlas tournament .... * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * BLOCK 1 SEMI-FINALS * * * * **** (USA) 1. AJ Styles def. (USA) 5. Tomasso Ciampa **** .... Another hard hitting match, and Ciampa looks like an absolute killer in this match but AJ keeps surviving .... AJ manages to catch Ciampa in the calf killer out of nowhere! Ciampa is caught in the middle and has to tap out ....**** (UK) 2. Nigel McGuiness def. (USA) 3. Moose **** .... Nigel continues his strategy of going after the arm, but Moose’s power counters that .... Moose catches Nigel with the Hit Stick, but Nigel rolls outside to escape .... Moose would go for the spear again later in the match, but Nigel has it scouted and hits the jawbreaker lariat out of nowhere to get the 3 count and advance to the finals ....* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ***** The Miz def. Austin Aries & Kenny King to retain the United States title **** .... Both King and Aries nearly win the title at one point in this match, Aries locks the Last Chancery on King, but Miz comes in and kicks Aries in the face to break up the move! Miz grabs King and hits the Skull Krushing Finale to score the pin and retain the title ....* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * BLOCK 1 FINALS * * * * **** (USA) 1. AJ Styles def. (UK) 2. Nigel McGuiness **** .... Incredible match .... Nigel manages to survive the Styles Clash while AJ kicks out of the London Dungeon .... Despite having his arm worked on all match, AJ manages to hit the phenomenal forearm to win the match ....**** MAIN EVENT: Universal women’s champion Ember Moon def. Charlotte & Nia Jax to retain the title **** .... These three tear the house down .... Charlotte attacks the knee of Jax, locking on the figure 8 at one point only to have Moon break it up .... Charlotte hits the natural selection on Moon and has the pin, but this time Jax breaks it up .... Jax with a belly to belly on Charlotte, then tries for a Bonzai Drop but Moon is up and superkicks her knee causing her to fall .... Charlotte is tossed and Jax takes her out with a suicide dive! She climbs back up .... ECLIPSE TO JAX! Moon hooks the leg and pins Jax to retain the title ....POST MATCH - Moon celebrates with the title as the show ends .... | |
