PRESENT . . .

King of the Ring Round 2: The East Region (from Philadelphia, PA) KoR

THE EAST REGIONAL – ROUND 2
Live from the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The King of the Ring promo kicks us off as we see the shot of the ornate crown rotating and suddenly exploding as ‘CRAZY TRAIN’ by Ozzy Ozbourne hits.  We get a ton of shots of UWF stars involved in the tournament, then it shows the Liberty Bell as if it was brand new.  The KOTR logo slams down on it, causing the infamous crack.

The camera comes up on the crowd in the Wachovia Center, who are pumping their fists and chanting ‘S-S-W!  S-S-W!’ Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan are in the ring, and they welcome the fans to the show.  They talk about what a big event the King of the Ring has been thus far, and tonight it continues with the East Region.  We are going to see Maxx Payne vs. Randy Orton, Chris Jericho vs. Steve Corino, Tiger Mask vs. Shiima Xion, and Lance Storm vs. Buddy Rose tonight to determine who will be moving on to the Sweet 16.

‘BREAK THE WALLS DOOOOOOOOOOWN!’ and out comes SSW TV champion Chris Jericho!  He comes out and makes Joe Rogan introduce him as the ‘once and future King of the Ring’.  Jericho says that he has to be the odds-on favorite to win this whole tournament because he is the very best at what he does.  The fans boo Jericho, but he demands that they respect him.  He is the man that has defeated the very best that SSW has to offer, including their ‘hero’ John Cena last week.  And after he takes care of Steve Corino tonight, he has other business to take care of concerning the SSW title.  He says that he made an offer to Punk last week for a title vs. title match, and so far Punk has not answered because he is scared.  He says that taking the SSW title from Punk is going to be just an appetizer to winning the world title at Wrestlemania!

Commercial Break

Back from break, Jericho is still in the ring as it is time for the first match of the night in the King of the Ring tournament.

Match 1: King of the Ring 2nd round match

(4) Chris Jericho (SSW)
vs.
(5) Steve Corino (GWF)

Jericho spends a lot of time playing to the fans at the onset, rolling to the outside to jaw with the front row and breaking Corino’s momentum.  They finally lock up, but Jericho pushes Corino into the corner and then slaps him across the face!  Corino fires back with a right hand that knocks Jericho on his ass, then he hits an armdrag as he gets to his feet.  Corino goes to work on the arm of Jericho, and the next few moments are very methodical by both men as they trade holds and reversals.  Jericho manages to get the boot up into the face of Corino, then hit a one-handed bulldog.  Jericho wears Corino down with the half-nelson sleeper, but Corino fights back to his feet and hits a back suplex.  Corino goes up top, but Jericho catches him and hits a top rope huricanrana!  1 . . . 2 . . . CORINO KICKS OUT!  Jericho goes up top again, but Corino dodges a missile dropkick and Corino hits the Old School Slam (rear mat slam).  Both men are slow to get up, but Corino reels off a series of rights and lefts that has Jericho staggering, then he knocks him down with the big elbow smash.  Corino hits the Old School Suplex (cradle suplex) for the 1 . . . 2 . . . NOOOO!  Jericho kicks out!  Corino goes for the super-kick, but Jericho blocks it . . . WALLS OF JERICHO!!!! Corino fights it, and eventually makes it to the ropes to break.  Jericho goes for the codebreaker, but Corino blocks it and catapults Jericho into the turnbuckle.  Old School Expulsion by Corino is countered and Jericho hits an enziguri for a 2 count!  Another attempt at the Walls of Jericho is countered into a rollup by Corino for a 2!  Both men pop up and Corino hits a Tiger Bomb on Jericho!  1 . . . 2 . . . NOOOOOO!  Jericho kicks out!  Corino sets for the Super kick to finish things, but Jericho drops down and avoids the move, then catches Corino with a low blow out of view of the ref!  CODEBREAKER BY JERICHO!  1 . . . 2 . . . 3!!!!

Commercial Break

IN THE BACK: The American Wolves cut a promo on their match against Saturn and Joe tonight.  Richards says that Joe and Saturn are out for themselves.  The Wolves are on the same page because they hunt in packs, and tonight the hunt is on.  Tonight the hunters become the hunted, and someone is getting hurt.

Match 2: King of the Ring 2nd round match

(3) Tiger Mask (IWL)
vs.
(11) Shiima Xion w/ Jillian Hall (IWL)

Lots of high flying action to start this match out, as both men are no strangers to each other.  Tiger has to not only combat Xion, but also Jillian at ringside.  The pacing is great in the opening moments, but it is Xion that gains the advantage using a distraction from Jillian.  Xion goes for the Lust to Dust early, but Tiger is able to counter into a backslide and a series of other pin attempts but only gets 2.  Tiger nails a dropkick that knocks Xion outside the ring  . . . SPACE FLYING TIGER DROP!  Tiger tosses Xion back in the ring, but Jillian grabs his leg for another distraction.  Xion strikes, hitting a running double knee smash that sends Tiger flying into the railing!  Xion pulls him back in the ring and goes for the Phillipino Destroyer but Tiger reverses it into a sit-out power bomb!!!!  1 . . . 2 . . . NOOOOO!  Xion goes to the eyes and then tries for the Lust to Dust, but Tiger reverses and goes for the Tiger Suplex.  Xion blocks it this time, reversing back into a Lust to Dust attempt but Tiger ends up hitting the Tiger Driver instead!!!!  1 . . . 2 . . . 3!!!!

Commercial Break

IN THE BACK: Kelly Kelly is with SSW Genesis champion CM Punk.  Punk comments on Jericho advancing, and the recent challenges he has been laying out to Punk.  Punk discusses his match coming up this weekend with Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger, calling Liger the greatest Junior Heavyweight in wrestling.  But they are not competing for the Junior Heavyweight title, they are competing for a shot at the world title.  He says that Liger had his time, but now is CM Punk’s time.  No one is more hungry than he is right now, and no one craves the competition like he does.  Tomorrow night . . . Liger is gonna get Punk’d!

Match 3: for the SSW Tag Team Titles

(Champions) American Wolves (Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards)
vs.
Perry Saturn & Samoa Joe

This match starts out surprisingly technical as Richards and Saturn lock it up.  Some holds and reversals and Saturn gets shot off the ropes but takes Richards down with the shoulder tackle.  Joe gets tagged in and hits an atomic drop on Richards, followed by the penalty kick and then a back senton.  Saturn and Joe are owning the Wolves at this point, but Edwards comes in off a blind tag and hits the 2nd rope codebreaker on Saturn.  Richards locks him in a sick-looking cloverleaf while trapping the arms (think Tequila Sunrise), and Saturn is in trouble.  He gets to the ropes, but the Wolves keep making quick tags in and out.  Davey smashes Saturns head into Edwards knee, then whips him into the corner.  Davey charges but Saturn backdrops him to the apron, and when the Wolves go for the Yakuza kick/ enziguri combo Saturn ducks and Edwards eats an enziguri from Richards.  Joe gets the hot tag and comes in kicking everyone’s ass!  Richards gets the snap power slam, then Joe catches Edwards trying to come off with the CCS Enziguri.  Joe goes for the Muscle Buster on Edwards but Richards breaks it up, which brings Saturn back in.  The Wolves are sent to the floor, and Joe takes them both out with the elbow suicida!  Edwards is tossed back in and Saturn hits the Falcon Arrow, then locks on the Rings of Saturn!  Edwards looks like he might be ready to tap, but Richards makes it in the ring in enough time to make the save.  Richards hits a sick running forearm to Saturn in the corner, then whips him into Edwards who catches him in a stunner.  Joe is back in to break this up.  The Wolves go for the Doomsday, but Saturn slips off the back and hits a German at the same time as Joe hits the running penalty kick!  AWESOME!  Richards takes Saturn out with a handspring enziguri, but Joe nails him with some open hand strikes.  Joe sets Davey on the top rope . . . CCS ENZIGURI!!!!  Joe hooks Davey and nails him with the Muscle Buster!  REAR NAKED CHOKE BY JOE!!!!  Richards thrashes around trying to get to the ropes, but he can’t break the hold.  Richards is fading, but Edwards grabs one of the titles from ringside and nails Joe in the back of the head with it . . . right in front of the ref!!!!  The ref calls for the bell and DQ’s the Wolves, who grab their titles and head for higher ground.

Commercial Break

Match 4: King of the Ring 2nd round match

(2) Lance Storm (XWA)
vs.
(10) ‘Playboy’ Buddy Rose (BTPW)

The fans are not sure who they hate worse in this one as Storm comes out and asks if he can be serious for a minute.  He runs down Rose, saying that he is a poor excuse for a wrestler, much less a person worthy of being in the ring.  Storm says that he is one step closer to his goal, and that is becoming the first Canadian to win the King of the Ring.  And at Wrestlemania he will become the first Canadian World champion!  Then the people can have a champion they can be proud of!  Rose attacks Storm during the playing of the Canadian National Anthem, which gets cheers from the fans.  Storm takes a back body drop and then bails out, but Rose follows.  Storm with a thumb to the eye and he tosses Rose into the ring post.  Storm takes over, hitting a springboard missile drop kick coming back in and then celebrating the greatness of the move.  Storm stomps on Rose, then ties him in the ropes and hits some chops.  Rose fights back, catching Storm in a power slam!  He goes for the KOD, but Storm blocks it and turns it into the Canadian Maple Leaf!  Rose turns inside and kicks Storm off, then rolls him up for a close 2!  Rose hits a clothesline, then goes up top.  He goes for a huge splash, but Storm rolls out of the way!  Storm goes for the cradle piledriver, but Rose backdrops out of it.  Storm lands on his feet however, and then scores with the Super kick right to the chin!  Storm covers and gets the 3 count.

IN THE BACK: Jericho is interviewed by Kelly Kelly.  Kelly mentions the upcoming match between Orton and Maxx, but Jericho only wants to focus on himself.  He says that he told the world that he would beat Corino and he did.  Now it doesn’t matter who is next.  He will beat Orton or he will beat the former world champion, because he is the best at what he does and you are looking at the ‘Once and Future . . . King of the Ring!’

Match 5: King of the Ring 2nd Round match

(1) Maxx Payne (RWA)
vs.
(Cool Randy Orton (WLW)

Orton does not back down from Maxx one bit, and they meet in the center of the ring.  Orton has an intense look in his eyes as they lock up, and it is Orton that powers Maxx back into the corner.  The ref tries to break, but Orton fires off a couple of right hands and kicks to the gut.  He tries to whip Maxx out, but he blocks it and tosses Orton back into the corner and now it is his turn to lay in some heavy shots.  Maxx hits a big elbow off the ropes, then drives a knee to the chest of Orton.  Orton rolls outside and acts like he is going to walk out, but Maxx goes outside and nails him with a clothesline from behind.  He slams Orton into the rail several times, then tossed him back in.  Maxx goes to the top and is going to come off with a double axe handle, but Orton catches him on the way down with a perfectly placed drop kick!  Orton gives Maxx the Orton stomp, then locks in the rear chin lock and cranks away.  The fans rally behind Maxx, who tries to work to his feet only to have Orton turn it into a rear chinlock backbreaker.  Orton covers, but only gets 2.  He locks it in again, and this time Maxx is able to hit some elbows to the gut and toss Orton off the ropes.  He misses a clothesline, but then hits a power slam on the rebound!  Both men are down!  Orton is up first, and he measures Maxx for the punt to the head.  He charges, but Maxx dodges and then drops Orton on his head with a backdrop driver!!!!  Maxx slowly crawls over . . . 1 . . . 2 . . . NOOOOO!  Orton is able to get the shoulder up!  Both men are slow to get up, and Orton strikes with a hard European uppercut, then another.  Maxx seems to be getting stronger as Orton hammers him, and he explodes from the corner and turns Orton inside out with a clothesline.  Maxx measures Orton now, and he goes for the punt to the head but this time Orton moves and goes for the RKO with Maxx off balance.  Maxx blocks it takes Orton down in the Payne Killer!!!!  MAxx cranks, but Orton fights the move, biting his own hand to keep from tapping.  Maxx is yelling for Orton to tap, but he manages to reach out and grab the ropes.  Maxx breaks, and as Orton is clutching his arm Maxx gets a running start and punts him right in the head!!!!  Orton is laid out as Maxx looks out at the fans, who are cheering for him to finish Orton.  He picks up Orton’s limp body for the package piledriver, but out of nowhere the viper strikes with the RKO!!!!  Orton cannot cover, and both men lay there.  Finally they both start to stir, and Orton looks poised to to it again.  This time Maxx blocks it and shoves Orton violently into the turnbuckles chest-first!!!!  Maxx hooks Orton and hits the package piledriver on the rebound, and this time there is no chance for Orton to kick out as the ref counts 3!!!!

Payne has his hand raised after going through the war with Orton, when suddenly Chris Jericho hits the ring and clips Maxx’s knee from behind!!!!  Jericho starts stomping on the knee of Maxx, then goes outside and grabs a chair and bashes him in the knee with it!!!!  Jericho locks on the Walls of Jericho in the middle of the ring!!!!  More refs come out to try to break it up, but Jericho refuses to let go!  Jericho is trying to take Maxx out before having to face him in the next round!!!!  The refs can’t pull Jericho off, but the fans pop as out of the back comes John Cena!!!!  Cena hits the ring, and Jericho wisely releases the hold and bails out.  Cena helps Maxx to his feet and the two stare at each other before Maxx extends the hand to Cena and they shake.

Commercial Break

Back from break, Maxx Payne is at ringside with Joe Rogan.  He is irate, and he cuts a promo on Chris Jericho.  He tells Jericho that he made a major mistake by trying to take him out.  Many people have tried in the past, and they have always ended up regretting it.  Next week in the Sweet 16, he is going to enjoy making Jericho regret it when he rips his arm right off his shoulder!

Match 3: for the United States Women’s title

(Champion) Gail Kim
vs.
Beth Phoenix
Vs.
Lita
Vs.
Victoria

It is announced that Michelle McCool will not be competing in this match due to a contract dispute, so Shane McMahon has found a replacement for her.  He introduces her replacement . . .  Lita!!!!  The fans pop as Lita comes out and joins the match, much to the dismay of Victoria and Beth.  As the match is getting ready to begin, ‘GIMME MORE’ by Britney Spears hits and out comes the UWF Women’s World Champion Trish Stratus!!!!  Trish joins Mike and Joe at ringside to do commentary.  Beth just glares at Trish the entire time, never taking her eyes off her.  It almost costs her too, as Gail rolls her up from behind for a quick 2 count to start the match.  Lita gets sent outside by Victoria, who levels Gail with a super kick.  Beth and Victoria go at it, and Beth hits a big power slam coming off the ropes.  Beth jaws with Trish, not noticing Lita climbing to the top and she hits the Lita-canrana on Beth!  Gail is up and she and Lita go at it, but Gail takes her down with a missile dropkick.  Gail goes up top, but Victoria cuts her off and hits a Super-plex!  Victoria goes for the Spider’s Web (fireman carry into side slam), but Gail reverses it in mid-move and turns it into the Christo!!!!  Victoria holds on, but has to tap out!  Victoria is eliminated!  Now Beth is back in and she cheap shots Gail, then locks in a bear hug.  Gail fights back, breaking the hold with forearms and she and Lita take Beth outside with a double clothesline!  Gail tries a springboard plancha, but Beth catches her and slams her back-first into the ring post!  SUICIDE DIVE ON BETH BY LITA AND BETH IS SENT FLYING RIGHT INTO TRISH!  Lita pulls herself up and rolls back in the ring, while Beth and Trish are slow to get up.  Beth finally gets up and she is pissed, and she nails Trish with a right hand!!!!  Trish responds, and now we have a brawl going on outside the ring between Trish and Beth!!!!  Lita and Gail make it back in the ring, and the ref counts Beth out!!!!  Beth is eliminated!  It is down to Lita and Gail Kim, and these two put on a show.  Lita gains the advantage with a Thesz press and she lays in some right hands to Gail, but Gail hits a tornado DDT out of the corner on Lita for a close 2!  Lita goes for a Lita-canrana but Gail moves out of the way and she crashes to the mat.  Gail hits the ‘Happy Ending’ (wrist lock + boot under chin driver) for the 1 . . . 2 . . . NOOOO!  Lita kicks out!  Gail goes back up top, but Lita meets her there and hits a huricanrana off the top!  Lita pulls off her shirt, revealing just her sports bra underneath, and she goes up top.  She goes for the moonsault, but Gail moves!  Gail goes for the straight jacket neckbreaker, but Lita reverses out of it and kicks Gail in the gut!  TWIST OF FATE!!!!  Lita slowly climbs up one more time, and she comes off with the moonsault!!!!  1 . . . 2 . . . 3!!!!  We have a new champion!!!!

Lita is almost in tears as she is awarded the title by Gail, who offers her a handshake.  Lita celebrated with the title when suddenly some oriental music hits and out comes a large oriental-looking woman.  She climbs in the ring to the surprise of Lita, and says something to her.  Lita does not have time to react before the woman attacks her!!!!  Mike and Joe identify the woman as Japanese wrestler Hamada, daughter of legend Gran Hamada!!!!  Hamada just destroys the weakened new champion, laying her out with the Hamada Driver!  Hamada leaves the ring to a smattering of boos from the fans as referees come out and check on Lita as the show ends.
