HUGE pyro explodes from the stage and entranceway as we are back in the home of AEW, Las Vegas Nevada …. 20,000 strong have packed the T Mobile Arena on the Vegas Strip and they are on their feet …. Joey Styles joins us ringside as VEGAS … IS … ALL ELITE!!


AEW #42 is in the books, and the announcers spend the opening moments recapping the controversial ending to the show where ROMAN REIGNS cost THE ROCK the AEW title …. ROMAN REIGNS is here tonight to address his actions, and the UNITED STATES title tournament begins this week …. Tonight we also have a women’s gauntlet match to determine who gets the next shot at TESSA BLANCHARD and the AEW Womens title ….


MATCH 1: BETH PHOENIX vs. ASUKA vs. CHARLOTTE FLAIR vs. RHEA RIPLEY vs. SASHA BANKS ———— Women’s Gauntlet Match

BETH PHOENIX is #1 and ASUKA is #2, so BETH gets her shot at ASUKA after all …. We go back and forth with them battling all over the place …. They battle up on the stage, where BETH ends up spearing ASUKA off the stage sending both women crashing through some tables below …. Both women have to be helped out and are unable to continue!  RHEA RIPLEY is #3 …. RIPLEY gives zero fucks and comes out and says to bring out #4 AND #5 because she wants to fight!  #4 is CHARLOTTE FLAIR and #5 is SASHA BANKS!  The match turns into a 3 way match and is balls to the wall for a good 15 minutes …. TESSA gets involved, hitting CHARLOTTE with a shot with the AEW womens title belt!  This allows RIPLEY to hit the Riptide to pin CHARLOTTE!  CHARLOTTE comes back and attacks TESSA at ringside, and chaos breaks out.  SASHA gets RIPLEY in the Banks Statement, but the ref is distracted by CHARLOTTE and TESSA brawling …. She lets go and hits a suicide dive to the outside the take them both out!  SASHA gets back in the ring, but runs into a Glasgow Kiss from RIPLEY!  RIPTIDE FINISHES BANKS AND RIPLEY IS THE WINNER! ….


In the next segment, QUINN MCKAY is in the ring and brings out the AEW Champion, ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ SHAWN MICHAELS …. MICHAELS comes out and is getting a surprising number of cheers, and he cuts a promo on last week and walking away with the AEW title …. SHAWN isn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth, he came away with the AEW title even if that wasn’t the way he wanted to win it …. SHAWN shows a little bit of face tendency here as he gives ROCK respect and talks about how he didn’t like that ROMAN REIGNS got involved ….




This brings out HANGMAN ADAM PAGE to interrupt …. PAGE says he is genuinely glad that HBK won because he was rooting for him … HBK says ‘save it, kid.  What do you want.’  HANGMAN says that he wants it to be HBK that he faes for the AEW title, and says he learned a lot in his first match …. He promises things are going to be different this time …. HBK laughs and says ‘That’s what they all say kid.’  HBK says that anytime PAGE wants another lesson he is ready …. PAGE is ready to go right now!  

THE LIGHTS GO OUT!  


They come back on and HOUSE OF BLACK is here!  HBK is nowhere to be seen!  PAGE is all alone against BLACK and KING, but he isn’t waiting around and he starts throwing hands …. BLACK sprays the Black Fog in the face of PAGE!  BLACK MASS!  PAGE is out, and BLACK sits cross-legged next to PAGE and talks about how evil humans are …. BLACK is trying to help him but PAGE is ignoring the teachings of the HOUSE OF BLACK …. PAGE cannot rise to the top until he exorcises his demons …. Will he rise?  Or fade to black?…. BLACK says that PAGE will come to thank him …. Because the House Always Wins ….


IN THE BACK –

SCOTT HALL promo in the back …. They may have fired NASH but those belts are still his and he and X-PAC are going to get them back tonight …. They go into the dressing room of SHAWN MICHAELS but no one is in there …. All of his gear is still there, but no HBK ….


MATCH 2: ‘American Nightmare’ CODY RHODES vs. JAY LETHAL ———— United States Title Tournament Round 1

CODY makes his in-ring return to AEW, and he has a spot in the US title tournament …. He and LETHAL go back and forth with some good action, but LETHAL gains the advantage late …. He goes up top for Hail to the King, but CODY gets the knees up into the ribs of LETHAL …. Cross Rhodes is reversed by LETHAL and he hits a superkick to stun CODY, but when he goes for the Lethal Injection CODY catches him coming in and finally hits the Cross Rhodes for the 3 count!

POST MATCH: CODY is interrupted by the sound of IWA World TV champion ‘American Dragon’ BRYAN DANIELSON’s voice …. “CUT HIS MUSIC!  CUT IT!” …. DANIELSON basically ignores the fact that CODY is in the ring and announces another open challenge for next week where he will defend the IWA World Television title ….


IN THE BACK –

We get a promo from CM PUNK …. PUNK talks about the war he went through with JON MOXLEY at Wrestle Kingdom and he hasn’t been cleared to wrestle …. He put MOXLEY over as the toughest man he has ever been in the ring with, and says that he will be at AEW live next week, and he’s got something to say ….


MATCH 3: FINN BALOR vs. CAMERON GRIMES ———— United States Title Tournament Round 1

BALOR makes his AEW debut as a surprise entrant in this tournament …. We get some good back and forth action here, but BALOR fires up with the slingblade followed by the shotgun dropkick to take advantage …. BALOR to the top and hits the Coup De Grace, but he isn’t done there as he picks up GRIMES and hits the Bloody Sunday for good measure and gets the pin to move on ….



KURT ANGLE comes out and talks shit about WALTER …. ANGLE announces that they will face each other in the main event of next week’s show, and that match will be an opening round match in the US title tournament …. This brings out IMPERIUM …. WALTER says ANGLE has proven himself by beating AICHNER and BARTHEL in separate matches, but he still refuses to accept WALTER’s hand so WALTER does not respect him …. ANGLE says he will make WALTER respect him after next week because he will beat it into him …. WALTER says ANGLE may not make it, and IMPERIUM surround ANGLE …. ANGLE starts throwing right hands on all 3 men, then he manages to grab WALTER in a German Suplex!  ANGLE goes for the rolling German suplexes on WALTER but AICHNER is there to break it up …. AICHNER eats the Angle Slam, followed by the Ankle lock!  WALTER is up and caves in the chest of ANGLE with a chop to break the hold!  WALTER with a powerbomb, and AICHNER and BARTHEL grab ANGLE by the arms and holds him as WALTER rips off ANGLE’s shirt, then hammers his chest with several more vicious chops …. IMPERIUM leaves ANGLE laying ….



MATCH 4: THE REVIVAL (Cash Wheeler & Dax Hardwood) vs. LOS GEURREROS (Eddie & Chavo) vs. THE STEINERS (Rick & Scott) vs. THE BRISCOES (Jay & Mark) vs. SCOTT HALL & X-PAC ———— AEW Tag Team Title Ladder Match

Balls to the wall action in this one as all these teams make a mad dash to get to the top of the ladder …. There are tons of spots where one of the team is close to pulling the titles down only to be stopped by someone else …. SCOTT STEINER does a couple of power spots involving the ladders, plus another spot where EDDIE sandwiches MARK BRISCOE in a ladder and then hits the frog splash on it …. JAY & MARK BRISCOE end up brawling wildly into the crowd with the STEINERS, and HALL & X-PAC make a move to get the belts only to have the GEURREROS climb up and fight with them on the top of the ladder …. THE REVIVAL come in and dump the ladder over, sending HALL, X-PAC and CHAVO to the floor but EDDIE manages to jump to another ladder!  EDDIE gets his hand on the title belt, but HARDWOOD is up and fights with EDDIE …. EDDIE knocks CASH WHEELER off the ladder, but HARDWOOD grabs EDDIE and they hit the Shatter Machine off the ladder!!!!  HOLY SHIT!  CASH holds off JAY BRISCOE as HARDWOOD climbs the ladder and pulls the titles down!  THE REVIVAL are the AEW tag team champions!!!!




CLOSING SEGMENT  –

DANA WHITE comes out with the announcement as to what the ‘Terminus’ vignette’s that have aired for the last couple of weeks mean …. WHITE announces that AEW will be rebranded as ‘TERMINUS’ starting with AEW #50 in 6 weeks ….


‘IF YA SMEEEEEEELLLLLLLLL … WHAT THE ROCK … IS COOKIN’ hits and cuts off WHITE’s announcement as here comes THE ROCK to the ring …. THE ROCK wants to address what happened last week and he says he still can’t believe it …. His own family turned on him …

Here comes ROMAN REIGNS with new ring music and he is all smiles ….

REIGNS – “You can’t believe it?  Well, let me tell you what I can’t believe.  I can’t believe that you took it upon yourself to speak as if you were the head of the table for the BLOODLINE when you put us in that WAR GAMES match …. When you stepped in front of me to challenge SHAWN MICHAELS.  You made sure it was all about you, then you have the audacity to stand here and tell me what you don’t believe.  The truth is I am the Chief of this Tribe!  Me and the USOS came to AEW to bail your ass out and stop all these ‘L’s’ you’ve been taking.  I am the one that gave you that AEW title shot in the first place!  And you should acknowledge me for that.  But just lilke I gave it to you, I took it away.  You don’t sit at the Head of the Table, DWAYNE, you never did!  You don’t belong here anymore, you belong in Hollywood with all the other talentless actors.  And just to make sure you BELIEVE THAT, I want a match ….”

ROCK’s entire demeanor seems broken here, and he isn’t the ‘most electrifying man in sports entertainment’ in this moment …. ROCK doesn’t want to fight him because of the Family ….

REIGNS – “How dare you talk about family!!!!  You want to talk about family????  Ok, how about this.   You came to the family for help and they sent ME!  I was the one that brought the USOS here to help save your ass, but when the chips were down all you were worried about was your own spot and nothing else!  You used the Bloodline to get the title shot against HBK, and once you got the shot and we took out the N.W.O, you left us high and dry.  The USOS aren’t even with this company no more!   You could have used your stroke to get them the money they wanted.  They both have families, kids, and you know that!  You took that away from them and they did what they had to do.  So I took what is most important to you, to THE ROCK.  And at the end of the day, you are going to acknowledge me as your Tribal Chief for what I have done for you.  One way or the other.  Believe That!”

REIGNS’ music hits and he walks off leaving the ROCK standing there as the show ends ….

Im all for a HBK/Hangman program but it looks like the House of Black has different plans......push this faction to the moon!!!!
