1. Hangman Page (BW) vs Will Ospreay (XWA)
An old UWF rivalry renewed here in the IWA. Ospreay just before this tournament lost his XWA Cruiserweight Championship. A title he held for almost 2 years. The match starts off a bit slowly with both men knowing the other so well. It does pick up and age hits Ospreay with the Noose (Running Shooting Star from the apron to the floor). Then gives him the Cracker Barrel on the floor. Luckily for Will there are no countouts in the X-Division. Eventually they head back into the ring. Page goes for The Buckshot Lariat but Will counters int a one man Spanish Fly. He hits the Stormbreaker and gets the win.
Winner: Will Ospreay
2. Fenix (WCW) vs Kota Ibushi (APW)
Mexico meets Japan in this one. Fenix is of course one half of the Tag Team, The Lucha Brothers. Kota early on resorts to his excellent striking technique and is really punishing Fenix. Then he looks for the Last Ride Powerbomb but Fenix gets free and dropkicks Ibushi in the face mid-air. This stuns Kota and allows Fenix to hit a Springboard Bulldog. Then he nails the Fenix Driver for the win.
Winner: Fenix
3. Finn Balor (BW) vs Ricochet (Glory)
Many said this was the match of Round 1. A display of High Flying wildness with powerful high impact moves mixed in. Ricochet catches Finn with Rickrack but when he goes for a Quebrada into a Moonsault Balor moves and catches the kneeling Ricochet with a Superkick. He follows with a Brainbuster then hits the Coup De Grace and gets the pinfall.
Winner: Finn Balor
4. Sabu (WWF) vs Darby Allin (WCW)
Sabu barely made the cut for this tournament and is surely one of the bigger guys here but still is a high flyer. The young upstart Allin is already making a name for himself with his devil may care style. With these two it spelled mayhem and that's what we got. Air Sabu connects for Sabu who then locks in the Modified Arabian Crab but Allin makes the rope break. They go to the floor and brawl for a while. They finally get back in the ring. Darby hits the Standing Diamond Dust. He goes for the Coffin Drop. He hits it! 1.. 2.. No! He goes for a Springboard Moonsault but Sabu gets his knees up! He has him set up and hits the Arabian Press for the win.
Winner: Sabu
5. Cameron Grimes (WCW) vs Jushin Liger (WCW)
A battle of two World Class entrants here. But two distinctive styles. Early on it's Liger's experience and varied skills that is winning out. Grimes decides to change his situation by taking it to the floor. He whips Liger hard into the railing and clotheslines him into the crowd. Cameron is in control now but Liger hits him with a Shotei. Then sends him in the ring. He goes for a Moonsault but misses. Grimes sends him in for the Cave-In but Liger counters with a Rolling Kappo Kick to the jaw. Then he hits a Liger Bomb for the 3 count.
Winner: Jushin Liger
6. The Fallen Angel (XWA) vs Roderick Strong (Glory)
When Father Daniels enters we can see he has a few fresh scars from the Barbed Wire Ladder Match at the XWA Parade Show. Strong is without his UE brethren tonight. The match is a brutal one. Neither man in the move for high spots. They just try to hurt each other. TFA gives strong a Hott Shot. Then 2nd rope Senton for two. Strong hits a Power-Breaker then latches on the Stronghold. The Fallen Angel is still hurting from his PoC war it looks like he may call it quits but his eyes roll into the back of his head and he struggles and gets free of the hold. Roddy goes for the Gibson Driver but Father Daniels escapes and hits a Reverse STO. He nails Broken Angel Wings and covers for two. He goes for Last Rites but Strong counters that into a Half Nelson Backbreaker. Then goes right into End of Heartache. 1.. 2.. 3!
Winner: Roderick Strong
7. Rey Mysterio (APW) vs Daniel Bryan (BW)
Two men who got heavy cheers from the crowd here in Long Island, NY. They shake hands before they get going. Very clean match but that doesn't mean there aren't some strikes. Bryan gets off his Yes Kicks. Rey kicks the taste out of Daniel's mouth with a leg feed enzuguiri. Lot of near falls for both men. Daniel looks for the Yes Lock and just about has it when Rey contorts his body over and traps Bryan's shoulders to the mat! 1.. 2.. 3!
Winner: Rey Mysterio
8. Marty Scurll (Glory) vs Christian (WWF)
The Villain is joined by his muscle Davey Boy Smith. Up to this point every one came out alone. Leave it to the leader of the United Kingdom to bring back up. Christian is leery of DBS and Marty yells at him to worry about the guy he's facing in the ring. Spirited affair with Scurll bending the rules as much as possible and Christian fighting his ass off. He catches Scurll with a Fireman's Carry Gutbuster. He goes up top looking for a diving Headbutt but Marty grabs the referee by the shirt. Then Smith jumps on the apron and shoves Christian off he falls into the ropes awkwardly. Marty releases the ref now and scrambles over. He hits the Black Plague then locks in the Crossface Chicken Wing he calls 'Dastardly'. Christian tries valiantly to escape but he can't and the referee has to stop the match. As the crowd boos loudly.
Winner: Marty Scurll

Maybe i'm in the minority but i really dig these shorter write ups!
They really spelled out these matches very well!
Less is more sometimes!
Great match ups and ofc my ass is happy as HELL that SABU won !
CHRISTIAN'S string of bad luck continues here but it took TWO to do it!
For some reason I have BALOR and STRONG as the favorites!
DAMN GOOD ROUND 1 !

Hangman cant find his footing in IWA yet. Ospreay will be tough to beat
Yes!!! Fenix advances
Dang......the losses for Ricochet continues. He needs something to give soon or he will be just another face
Liger stays strong
Mysterio over D-Bry is the upset of the night IMO
Christian is another name that hasnt fared well in IWA
My money is on Roderick Strong to win it all
