Live From Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado IWA Presents: The IWA World TV Title Tournament Jim Ross: "Hello wrestling fans! And welcome to the first round of the IWA TV Title tournament. I'm your host Jim Ross, coming to you live from The Ball Arena in beautiful Denver, Colorado! And over the course of the next few weeks your going to see 16 of the very best the IWA has to offer. All with one common goal.... to become the first ever IWA World TV champion! And one of those hopefulls is standing by with my broadcast partner, Charly Caruso..... Charly take it away!" Charly Caruso: "Thanks JR! I am being joined now by a man that many claim is the odds on favorite to win the entire tournament. A man who needs no introduction..... "The Macho Man" Randy Savage! Randy, tonight you will face off against Jungle Boy. A man who many say is the future of the wrestling business." Randy Savage: "OHHHHH YEA!! FREAK OUT! FREAK OUT! Jungle Boy.... a man with a bright future. But unfortunately for him, tonight isn't the future! Tough kid.... I've seen his matches. But he drew the Macho Man. Bad Luck.... yea! Nothing personal kid.... but ya see, the USWA has paid me alot of money to bring that IWA tv title to them. And that's exactly what I plan on doing. So Jungle Boy..... you can have the future dig it..... because that IWA tv title belongs to me! OHHHHH YEA!!!!" Match One: The Undertaker vs Owen Hart The tournament starts off with two current TV champions..... The Undertaker as Bluegrass HBO Championn. And Owen as WCW's TV champion.. Taker makes his way to the ring on a thunderous Harley, to a huge ovation.. Needless to say, you can see the look of concern on Owens face. Owen’s stick-and-move strategy only works for a moment. Taker chokes Owen a lot, but then Owen goes for the knee. While Owen is still working the knee, he goes up top and lands the Missile Dropkick and calls for the Sharpshooter, but Taker GOOZLES him to escape. Taker hits a big boot and throws Owen to the floor. Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard make their way to ringside. Tully distracts Taker as Arn tries to help Owen back in, but Owen doesn’t take being helped very well, and gets all flustered. That’s when Taker picks up Owen off the floor into the choke slam! Taker grabs Owen...... LAST RIDE!!!! 1......2......Arn puts Owens foot on the bottom rope. Taker gets up and gives Arn a death stare. This gives Tully the opening he needs..... he runs in the ring and chop blocks Takers leg out. Arn jumps off the ring apron. Taker fights through the pain..... he goes for the Last Ride again but Owen drops down and gets an inside cradle, 1.... 2....3! Owen Hart advances in the tourny. Arn and Tully return to the dressing room area as the ref hands Owen his WCW TV Title.
Jim Ross: "The damned Horsemen!! Owen Hart gets the win, but you have to give the assist to Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard! And if I was a betting man, that might be something that Owens future opponents may have to continue to deal with." Match Two: Tom Lawlor vs Ole Anderson The match starts with kicks and strikes. Lawlor and Ole tussle around the ground. Both men struggle to grab limbs and put them into submission holds. Both men get on their feet and Anderson tries to get into a striking match. Lawlor hits a takedown on Ole and combos it into a triangle choke. Ole goes for a uncharacheristic dropkick and sends Lawlor to the floor with a clothesline. Ole punishes Lawlor with a leg whip from the apron. Lawlor uses the ropes for a neck breaker. Lawlor catches Oles clothesline and gives him a spinebuster. Lawlor gets Ole into a figure four until Ole reverses it. More slaps and forearms are exchanged. Lawlor goes for the rear-naked choke. Anderson goes for a superplex and sends Lawlor to the mat. More corner clotheslines from Ole then Anderson hits a piledriver. Ole hits a brainbuster on Lawlor. 1......2......Only a 2-count. Ole hits a second legwhip for a 2-count. Ole hits a German suplex. Lawlor fights back and hits a scoop tombstone driver for a 2-count. More hard chops and palm strikes. Lawlor interrupts with an exploder and an Olympic Slam. Lawlor goes for another rear-naked chokehold. Ole goes for the back suplex and tries to hit a clothesline. Another sleeper is applied to Ole but Anderson kicks his legs up and kicks off the turnbuckles, sending both men backwards as Ole lands ontop of Laslor, who still has the sleeper applied, 1......2......3!! Lawlor releases the hold and celebrates but there's some confusion...... the ref explains to the ring announcer that even though Lawlor had Ole in the sleeper, Lawlor shoulders was both on the mat for the three count. Winner of the match......Ole Anderson!
Jim Ross: "MY Gawd!! Those two men are tougher than a two dollar steak. That reminded me many a nights in a bar in downtown Tulsa.... nothing pretty to look at, but brutality at its finest. And on this night, the experience factor was the deciding ingredient. Ole Anderson will damned sure be a tough one to beat going forward." Charly Caruso: "Some very exciting matchups so far fans! And we are just moments away from what should be quite a matchup as "Hotstuff" Eddie Gilbert will face my guest at this time.... The One Man Gang! Gang.... what are you doing to prepare for Gilbert, who will surely have Missy Hyatt in his corner?" One Man Gang: "I DONT CARE ABOUT NO BROAD! ALL I CARE ABOUT IS MAKING MONEY AND HURTING PEOPLE! IF SHE GETS IN MY BUSINESS I WILL GIVE HER A 747 JUST LIKE ALL THE REST! YOUR GOING DOWN GILBERT!!!! HEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!" Match Three: Terry Taylor vs Kerry Von Erich w/Gary Hart As the introductions wrap up,, Von Erich goes to attack Taylor before the bell. But Taylor uses his quickness and avoids Von Erich. Taylor works the back after starting hot and it shows Von Erich down as Taylor is just a house of fire. Kerry sneaks in a low blow to come back and works the neck, but his back REALLY bothers him. He can't climb up top fast at all and when he tries a Tombstone, his back doesn't hold up and Taylor can reverse into his own. 1......2......NO!!! Taylor sees his opening and goes for his patented Five-Arm! Gary Hart distracts the ref though. Taylor winds up clotheslining Kerry out over the top and shoves the ref back, but it lets Kerry hit Taylor with the his title belt and he follows with the Iron Claw! Taylor is motionless as the ref makes the three count. Von Erich advances.
Jim Ross: "Fans..... I've known Kerry Von Erich and his family for a long, long time and I've never seen him this way. But this isn't the same Kerry Von Erich we have all known and loved all these years. I'm not sure how Gary Hart ever got to this young man, but whatever it is.....it's working. Like him or not, Von Erich has done nothing but win as of late. Alright fans, we have a very special presentation for you at this time. We all know that Britt Baker will defend her IWA Womens World title against Thunder Rosa at Violence of the Lambs. What we don't know..... is in what kind of match. Charly is the wheel as the world champion, is about to spin the wheel..... and make the deal!" The cameras pan to the stage where see Britt being lowered from the rafters of the venue down to the stage in her special D.M.D. chair........
Charly Caruso: "Fans.... we are just days away from Violence of the Lambs and we know that Thunder Rosa will challenge my guest at this time, Britt Baker! And we are about to see the champions fate as she is about to spin the wheel. Champ..... the floor is yours!" Britt walks up to the huge Wheel and looks over all the options on it. She grabs the handle and the wheel spins.....
After rolling a few times, the wheel shows down and the wheel lands on......
Charly Caruso: "Ohhhh wow!! It's a ladder match!!! Britt....this must concern you going into what just became a very tough title defense?" Britt Baker: "Kind of ironic don't you think? A ladder match? I mean we already know I'm rungs and rungs above ANY of my challengers! And now at Violence of the Lambs.... your role model..... ME..... will prove it!" Match Four: One Man Gang vs Eddie Gilbert w/Missy Hyatt and Cactus Jack Missy leads her man, "Hotstuff" Eddie Gilbert to the ring as Cactus Jack follows closely behind. Missy enters the ring and takes the house mic......
Missy Hyatt: "Eddie.... I promised a surprise this past week on Nitro. And this will help you concentrate on winning me all the gold in the IWA. So Cactus.... I know you have Mommy issues. And as much as that freaks me out a little, I got you something. Well.... I should say..... someone! And her she is now!" Missy points to the entrance way and out comes.....
DAFFNEY!!!!
Gilbert and Missy stand on the ringapron watching on as the One Man Gang stomps around in the ring telling the ref to ring the bell. Daffney approaches Cactus and let's out a blood curdling scream!! Cactus smiles....and screams back! Gang is tired of waiting and charges across the ring and hits the ropes, knocking both Missy and Eddie off the ringapron. Missy lands in the arms of Cactus, but Gilbert isn't so lucky as he crashes through the announce table! The ref rings the bell as Gang goes out after Gilbert. Gang throws Gilbert back in the ring. Gang climbs in and hits the ropes..... 747 SPLASH TO GILBERT! 1.....2......3!!!!
Jim Ross: "Fans I've seen some of the damndest things in wrestling, but this incident may have took the cake! Kudos to Missy Hyatt for wanting to play matchmaker for Cactus Jack. But the One Man Gang didn't come to this tournament to play and he just made short work of Eddie Gilbert! Who can stop this man?" Match Five: Rob Van Dam vs Austin Idol Idol goes on offense right away with chops. RVD comes back with a shoulderblock in the corner and Idol bails. Idol comes back in and hits some rights. Snap-mare sets up his flipping neckbreaker! Idol with an abdominal stretch. RVD hip-tosses his way out and drops Idol with a spin-kick. Rolling Thunder gets two. Idol slams Van Dam off his rolling monkey flip attempt and pins him with his feet on the top rope. Austin Idol advances!
Jim Ross: "Be it by hook or by crook, Austin Idol may have just hit the upset of the night. It just goes to show you that during these tournaments, all it takes is one pinfall for your hopes and dreams to be squashed. You may call him an underdog, but I can guarantee you.... Austin Idol will not be an easy night at the office during this tournament!" Match Six: Don Muraco vs CM Punk w/ Paul Heyman Punk grabs a side headlock and cinches it in for a while before running into a shoulder tackle. Punk gets shoved away but comes back with forearms until until he runs into a big boot. Muraco hammers Punk in the corner with knee and right hands and elbows. Punk catches him with a swinging neckbreaker and then hits a couple of big stomps. Forearms now by Punk, and elbows and boots in the corner. Punk hits a snapmare and a dropkick to the back of the head for 1. Punk drops a couple of elbows and now forearms, but Muraco comes back with a right, a kick, a right. But Punk gets a drop toehold and goes right back on the attack with rights to the back of the head. Punk locks in a front facelock, but Muraco powers out and dumps Punk. Punk connects with a running leg drop though and gets 2. Knees to the spine now by Punk, and another running leg drop, and a third. Punk locks in a modified crossface, but Muraco works his way to his feet and snapmares out of it. He charges into a reverse elbow though, and Punk gets a neckbreaker for 2. Punk applies a grounded head scissors now. Muraco gets some separation, but Punk catches him with a series of knees for a 2 count. Kicks to the ribs now, but Muraco reverses an Irish whip and Punk crashes into the corner. Muraco charges but Punk drop toeholds him into the turnbuckle. Running knee/bulldog combo! That gets 2. Punk tolls to the apron and springboards into a SPINEBUSTER! Both men are down but beat the referee’s 10 count, and Muraco carries Punk into the corner and hits some thrusts and a clothesline, but then runs into a boot. Punk hops up to the top......
But before Punk can leap off, Jon Moxley storms the ring and slams Punk off the top rope to the mat.
Moxley then attacks Punk in a street fight fashion until Punk breaks free and exits the ring as Moxley storms around the ring wanting more of Punk! The ref calls for the bell and awards Punk The winner via a disqualification due to the interference of Moxley! Muraco questions Moxley, who takes exception to this and kicks Muraco down low and hits the Paradigm Shift to Muraco before leaving the ring!
Jim Ross: "Fans....Jon Moxley continues to be a Thorn in CM Punks side as they head to Violence of the Lambs, where they will clash in a street fight. But tonight Punk advances on in the tournament nonetheless." The theme from ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ hits and signals the arrival of the World Heavyweight Champion ‘The Nature Boy’ RIC FLAIR ….
FLAIR - “Mean … Woooooooo …. By God, Gene! You know something Gene, when the HORSEMEN’s private jet landed in Denver last night, and we stepped onto that runway looking as only we can look, the line of women waiting for us was ‘a Mile High’ ha ha ha. You know what I’m saying. Because it’s good to be the HORSEMEN …. It’s good to be RIC FLAIR, it’s good to be a limousine riding, jet-flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin-dealin son of a gun, and it’s good to be the best. And I’m the very besty because this big gold belt right here says I am! But there is a time for business and a time for pleasure and right now it’s about HORSEMEN business …. And tonight the HORSEMEN are here to add another trophy to that illustrious trophy case and that will happen when OWEN HART becomes the 1st ever Worlds Television Champion! Woooooooo!”
FLAIR is interrupted much to his surprise as AEW General Manager DANA WHITE comes out to the ring to confront FLAIR!
WHITE recaps the issue with FLAIR and the 4 HORSEMEN showing up on AEW Television recently and attacking SHAWN MICHAELS after the rest of the N.W.O had been escorted from the building …. WHITE isn’t happy, and he may have his own issues with HBK’s attitude, but he is the AEW champion and WHITE has his back ….
FLAIR – “DANA WHITE, brother, be very very careful what you say. This isn’t the UFC pal, and when youre the Worlds Heavyweight Champion, and you roll with the 4 HORSEMEN, you go where you want and you do what you want ….”
“HOLD ON A MINUTE HERE!”
Now we get the arrival of ERIC BISCHOFF, the WCW General Manager!!!! BISCHOFF comes down and wastes no time confronting DANA WHITE, saying that RIC FLAIR is a member of the WCW roster, and WHITE has no business out here defending that piece of crap SHAWN MICHAELS, because it was MICHAELS that fired the first shot when he showed up on WCW Nitro and superkicked RIC FLAIR!
WHITE and BISCHOFF are in each others faces now when SHAWN MICHAELS music hits!!
SHAWN – “Hold on, hold on. Everyone needs to get their panties out of their asses. FLAIR, is this what this has come to? Letting these two empty-suit nimrods argue about whose at fault? Well, ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ doesn’t need anyone speaking for me, so DANA WHITE you can shut your trap. My God-given talent does all the talking for me! Yeah, I sent RIC FLAIR a message to the tune of Sweet Chin Music, but it was your reaction that should tell everyone all they need to know. FLAIR, you tried to make sure I didn’t make it to our match because it’s obvious to me that you KNOW that I can beat you …. If you’re scared, just say you’re scared. But I’ve got an idea to make sure the match happens and we get a guaranteed winner without your little HORSEMEN cronies getting involved ….”
DANA WHITE starts to speak up and say something to MICHAELS, when WHAM! Sweet Chin Music to DANA WHITE!!!! HBK stands over WHITE as ERIC BISCHOFF stands nearby and he is pointing at WHITE and laughing in his face …. WHAM!!!! HBK takes out BISCHOFF with Sweet Chin Music also!!!! Now it’s just Flair and HBK face to face ….
HBK - (snaps his fingers) “That quick! That’s how quick I can turn your lights out ‘Nature Boy’. You see, the difference between you and me is I know I can beat you in the ring. So how about we make this interesting? I say we get us some lumberjacks and surround the ring. And just to make it fair, you can pick half the guys. What do you say, ‘Nature Boy’????”
Flair starts to get animated and takes off his jacket ….
FLAIR - “MICHAELS! It’s just eating you up inside isn’t it? Whether you like it or not, I’m Ric Flair, AND YOU’RE NOT! You want a lumberjack match, pal? You got it! You won’t play games with me because I know my choice for the lumberjacks. I only surround myself with the elite, the best of the best. So I only need 4 lumberjacks, and you can probably guess who they are! Wooooooo!”
HBK - (smiling) “Yeah, I figured you would have the Horsemen watching your back. There probably isn’t much surprise in my choices either. And, like you, I only need 4 ….”
The N.W.O’s music hits!!!! HALL, NASH, and HHH come out and we get a staredown between the Horsement and NWO at the top of the ramp, and FLAIR and MICHAELS in the ring to end the segment
Match Seven: Dusty Rhodes vs Daniel Bryan The two men meet at mid ring and shake hands much to the delight of the crowd. Bryan uses kicks to Dusty's leg, trying to ground the bigger man. But everybtime Bryan gets close, Dusty peppers him with Bionic elbows. The two men continue to have a scientific encounter for well over 15 minutes, but it's becoming clear that Dusty is beginning to get gassed as Bryan keeps the fast pace up. Bryan continues his kicks when we see Cody and Brandi make their way up the isle......
Bryan wants to leave the ring after Cody, but knows he will get eliminated by the countout. Daniel turns his attention back to Dusty and they continue the action. Dusty hits the ropes and goes for a cross body.....Daniel rolls through..... 1.....2......Cody puts Dustys foot on the ropes. Bryan sees this and has had all he can handle and let's Cody get to him. Daniel exits the ring and chases after Cody all the way backstage as the ref counts to 10, awarding the match to Dusty via a countout. You can tell this isn't how Dusty wanted to win, but he advances to the next round nonetheless.
Jim Ross: "Things continue to broil between Cody Rhodes and Daniel Bryan. We know there is no love loss there. And I'm sure it was hard for Dusty to be impartial in this bout. And even though the way he got the victory may not be idea, Dusty Rhodes moves on in the tournament. Fans..... we have one more match left tonight and it should be a dandy!" Match Eight: "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs Jungle Boy Savage taunts Jungle Boy, trying g to play mind games with the younger opponent, as you can clearly see Jungles nerves are on high alert. Jungle turns his back and Savage attacks. Jungle dodges an elbow and knocks Savage to the floor. They fight on the floor and then back in.. Savage pounds on Jungle in the corner. Jungle does a headscissors to take Savage over the top to the floor. Savage is pissed by being shown up by Jungle Boy! Jungle hits an atomic drop on the floor. Back in the ring and Jungle catches Savage with a double knife-edge chop. Savage dodges another one and hits a belly to back suplex. 1.....2.....NO! Savage to the top, but Jungle counter the double axehandle. Jungle with a Suplex from the apron. 1......2......NO! Jungle with a high cross body from the top rope, 1......2.... two count. Jungle hits a couple more chops. Jungle tries a back suplex and Savage punches him as they hit the mat. Savage crotches Jungle on the turnbuckles! Savage climbs up and hooks Jungle....... SUPERPLEX OFF THE TOP.......But Jungle holds on and takes his own leg to grapevine Savages leg, 1......2.......3!!! Jungle Boy wins!!!
Jim Ross: "MY GAWD! MIRACLES DO HAPPEN! I CANT BELIEVE IT.... JUNGLE BOY HAS JUST DEFEATED THE MACHO MAN RANDY SAVAGE!! THATS NOT JUST AN UPSET.... THATS THE UPSET OF A LIFETIME! THIS YOUNG LION HAS JUST SCOREF THE BIGGEST VICTORY OF HIS CAREER! WHAT A SLOBBERKNOCKER..... AND WHAT A NIGHT FANS! OUR NEXT STOP IS IN 2 WEEKS. UNTIL THEN.... THIS IS JIM ROSS SAYING SO LONG EVERYBODY!"
