AWA TV # 5 Crockett Cup Week 1
Freddy : AWA All Star Wrestling Saturday Morning . Bringing you the greatest stars from , Britain , Germany , Mexico , Canada and the United States . This is Freddy Miller and here is your host Gordon Solie .
Gordon Solie : Good morning , thank you Freddy Miller . We have a very excitable crowd here at our WGN Broadcast Museum studios . Yes , it’s finally here week 1 of the Crockett Cup . In this hour our main event will be just that , the Sheepherders taking on the Devil’s Duo and in our second hour we will have The Road Warriors taking on Ted Dibiase & Stan “ The Larriot “ Hansen .
First however , we want to send our congratulations to both the new World Super Junior Heavyweight Champion from CCW Chris Jericho and the new World Television Champion also from CCW one Jimmy “ Superfly “ Snuka both men will be here in the upcoming weeks to defend their titles.
Right now I want to bring in the Super Destroyer .
SD comes out to a round of boos .
Gordon : Sir , I’m aware that you don’t say too much , you do your talking in the ring , however , I must enquire about your attack on Tommy “ Wildfire “ Rich .
Tommy comes out to the podium . Right away SD draws his fist ready for a fight .
Tommy : Now hold on there big fella , I might be a simple country boy , but I damn sure ain’t dumb . I know it wasn’t you .
Gordon : Excuse me ??
Tommy : Gordon , can we replay the tape from last weekend ? Just the ending
Gordon : Most certainly, Let’s take you back to the AWA Heavyweight Title Match at the Royal Rumble where you took on HHH for the title .
Rich : Now Gordon , here it is , I get him with the flying body press . 1…..2 . Here comes this fake Super D . He’s about 3 inches shorter . The big fella here is 6’5 I’m guessing . The fella that hits me with a Tornado DDT , might be 6’2 and about 225 . The big fella here is at least 295 and Gordon , he wouldn’t hit me with a DDT . I’ve rassled him several times he would take me head off with that clothesline or get me in the Cobra Clutch . So big fella , someone pretended to be you .
SD : I don’t say too much brother , but it looks like I got an imposter on my hands . Tommy , that’s what I was coming out here to tell you , look you need help , just know I got your back .
The two shake hands to a thunderous applause and cheers .
Gordon : Fair enough . We’ll be back .

Gordon : Welcome back , we got a dandy in the ring right now El Santo taking on Sheik Jerry Blackwell
The match obviously started before the break . Kassie and Patera are at ringside . Blackwell hits a side slam on Santo for two . Blackwell bounds off the ropes for a big splash , but Santo moves !!! Santo 3 straight dropkicks on Blackwell sends him to the corner , where Santo mounts the turnbuckles and rains down punches on Jerry . Jerry goes for a Powerbomb , but Santo Ranas out if it . Flying head scissors takes Jerry over . Santo scales the top rope …… MISSLE DROP KICK !!!! 1…….2……Patera and Kassie are in the ring attacking Santo . A bunch of Lucha jobbers who worked dark matches come out and try to save the legend buy the sheiks ain’t having any of it . Clotheslines and brutality are on the menu . Then ……..
Gordon : Here comes Mil Mascaras and look here , he is not alone ! Iron Mike Sharpe has hit the ring and he goes right after Blackwell the man who put him on the shelf . Oooo !! Big clothesline by Sharpe and the Sheiks are beating a hasty retreat here . We have to get order restored . We’ll be back !!!
Break
Sharpe is at the podium with Santo and Mil Mascaras.
Sharpe : Blackwell , did you think I was going to be gone forever . Guess again . I’m back and listen up Fatwell ! I’m going to end you once and for all .
Santo : Patera , you want to stick your nose in my business . Next week you and me right here on television.
Mil Mascaras: And Sheik , I’ll have his back .
Gordon : Thank you gentlemen and with that let’s get to our main event , this first hour . The first round of the Crockett Cup the Sheepherders taking on the Devil’s Duo .
These two teams have a history of violence against one another and it clearly shows I’m the early going . The ref several times threatens to DQ both teams . Luke somehow gets Sully in the corner and he and Butch take turns just pounding on him . Luke gets the tag back in and now is biting on Sully . He tags back off to Butch who uses a legit wrestling maneuver , side belly to belly and tags Luke back in , who comes off with a knee to the back from the second rope . He puts on a variation of a Camel Clutch . Sawyer just decides to take matters into his own hands and tosses out the rule book and runs and kicks Luke in the face and then leaps across the ring and takes out Butch with a flying forearm , both men are laying out on the floor . In the ring , Luke staggers up ….. DOUBLE UNDERHOOK DDT FROM KEVIN SULLIVAN!!!!! 1…..2…..3 !!!
Freddy Miller : Fans the time of the fall 18:37 your winners and moving onto the semi finals in the Crockett Cup , The Devil’s Duo !!!
Gordon : And there you have it , we’ll be back with our second hour this morning .

Gordon : Welcome back , we are in our second hour . In this hour the Super Destroyer will be in action as will the WGN Television Champion Tully Blanchard and Ivan Koloff will be in action . Of course our main event . The second match up in this opening round of the Crockett Cup. The Road Warriors taking on Ted Dibiase and Stan The Lariat Hansen . Before we go any further however let’s take you back to the Royal Rumble and the incident with The Rock and one Eddie Gilbert .
[i]Freddy Miller : Fans , welcome back . Joining me now from the AWA ……
Rock : Your monkey ass just needs to hold the mic , Freddy Miller ! As a matter of fact , just stand over there . Thank you very much ! Finally !! THE ROCK HAS COME BACK TO TORROOONNNNTOOOOOO !!!
Ya know the Rock had big plans . He was gonna give the people what they want , first he was gonna beat Eddie Gilbert’s ass all over Atlanta , well The Rock did do that pretty well , but then from there the Rock was gonna win and beat jabroni after jabroni to become the the peoples National Heavyweight Champion , but Eddie Gilbert had other plans .
Before the Rock knew it there was Superstar Billy Graham in the ring , The Sheep Herders were in the ring , hell the Rock swears he saw the ghost of Bruce Lee and Elvis in there too as well as the people sitting in section 4 E . Well the Rock says this , Eddie Gilbert the Rock is giving you one more chance to go one on ……
A fan in a Lucha mask hops the railing . He attacks Rock from behind hurls him into the ringpost. He tosses Rock on the ring . Rock staggers up ….. HOTSHOT!!!!
Gordon : Wait a minute , that’s no average fan . That’s Eddie Gilbert’s move .
JR : That no good egg sucking dog bought a damn ticket !!!
Gilbert tosses Rock back out of the ring and hits a DDT on the floor . Gilbert takes the house mic .
Gilbert : 15 years ago you started this war , Rock . Well the General Eddie Gilbert just finished it !!! I’ve got bigger fish than you . Let it go . Oh and by the way if we’re keeping score from 15 years ago , that’s Gilbert 5 , Rocky zero . [\i]
Gordon : I am told , The Rock will be here next week and he will have some very poignant comments to and about one Eddie Gilbert .
Right now the Super Destroyer is in action .
Super D vs Deke Rivers : The crowd is giving mixed reactions. Super D with a big boot that floors Rivers . He goes out and slams a big meaty forearm into Rivers’ chest and then rolls him in the ring . Before he gets in the ring , HHH comes out and stands in his way . Gordon on the call .
Gordon : Wait a minute , what is the AWA Heavyweight Champion doing out here , you can hear him saying tell them the truth , “ tell them it was you !!! “ Super D looking into the champions eyes now and Oooo !!! A sneak attack from Rivers from behind !!!! He slams Super D’s head into the ring post . Now HHH is leaving . Hold on a minute !! It’s Tommy Rich !! Tommy Rich now dropkick on HHH !!! The champion is beating a hasty retreat !! Tommy now at ringside here becoming a cheerleader for Super D , who is on a sleeper !! Super D with two elbows to the stomach and a side walk slam . Super D now places Deke Rivers on that top rope and we know what’s next from here …
Yessir !!!! That amazing Superplex that is almost a version of the Brainbuster . It is pretty much all over for Super D who …. Wait a minute he has on the Cobra Clutch !!! The Cobra Clutch is on an already defeated Deke Rivers . He can be heard yelling , “ HELMSLEY !!!!” Tommy Rich has taken off his shirt and is throwing in the ring as in throwing in the towel on behalf of Rivers !! The ref has indeed awarded this match to the Super Destroyer !! Now Tommy Rich is trying to talk him down. I’m not sure what has gotten into this man , but wow !! Let’s get order restored here , we’ll be back .

Gordon : Welcome back , Ivan Koloff is not here today , so we will have him in action next week . This allows us some extra time to talk to the WGN Television Champion , Tully Blanchard and his Perfect 10 Babydoll .
Tully : Gordon , she is not just my perfect 10 . When you are as gorgeous, as smart and as deadly as she is , she’s everyone’s perfect 10 . Now she has an announcement she wants to tell the whole world , sit back and listen .
Gordon : Very well , young lady the floor is all yours .
Babydoll : Gordon , what you see right here the WGN Television Champion Tully Blanchard is only the first step . Next week , I’ll reveal the next step in a plan that will effect the entire AWA . One of those steps , well two actually , you just saw today .
Gordon ; A rather cryptic statement here , but ok . We will see next week . Now onto you sir .
Tully : Wait a minute Gordon , Babydoll , might have more to say , you cut her off . Show some respect .
Gordon : Very well , I apologize for my rudeness young lady .
Babydoll : Typical male Gordon , with the exception of a few you all think that just because I have a pretty face , I don’t deserve your time . Ok , I accept your apology, next time do better . My last announcement is this …..
She pulls up a briefcase.
Babydoll : Gordon , there are only maybe 5 wrestlers in the whole world that can beat the WGN Television Champion Tully Blanchard. Key word is maybe . Starting this week we present to you , The Tully Blanchard Experience. Each week when we come out here the WGN Television will be on the line against some young up and comer beat him , you get the WGN Television Title. Now that being said in this briefcase is $35,000 . That’s a lot of money . This is the second half of our challenge . Any established wrestler , who can pin or submit Tully Blanchard here on tv or at a house show in a nontitle match up will receive this money and the next week a WGN Television Title shot . Only one rule , you have ten minutes . After that it doesn’t count . You see we are looking for more of the next step and anyone that can prove themselves against Tully Blanchard will be invited into the next step . Thank you Gordon .
Gordon : Thank you Babydoll . Mr . Blanchard , a interesting challenge by you .
Tully : Gordon , when you’re Tully Blanchard, a man who looks like me , who wrestles like me , who is used to a champions life style , it’s always interesting. Today is Chad Gab…..
The crowd explodes as Super D power walks out to the podium .
Tully : Hey punk !!!
Super D : Oh shut your damn mouth . HHH get out here . Quit telling lies about me , you know damn well I didn’t help you at the Royal Rumble let’s settle this once and for all .
Babydoll and Tully start laughing .
Super D : What the hell is your problem.
Babydoll : Ok … ok … I’m supposed to wait until next week to reveal this , but you’re obviously worried about the Tommy Rich issue . Don’t worry like I said you’re protected . Ladies and gentlemen, the second step of the plan , The Super Destroyer!
Super D : Why are you telling these lies !!!
Tully : Hey !! Don’t you dare call her a lair !
He puts his hand on Super D’s shoulder .
Super D : GET YOUR DAMN HANDS OFF ME !!!
Super D slaps Tully . Tully punches Super D .
Gordon : Gentlemen not here at the podium please .
HHH comes out and he knees Super D in the back . Now he and Tully are putting the boots to Super D . Tommy Rich comes out and now they are fighting off Tully and HHH .
Gordon : We have to get order restored . We’ll be back !

Gordon : This crowd is still buzzing here , joining me now President of the AWA Wally Karbo .
Karbo : Blanchard get out here !
Tully : Look , I’m not wrestling on this show until those two men are out of the building especially that traitor Super Destroyer .
Karbo : You don’t run things around here , she ( points to Babydoll ) she doesn’t run things around here . I do . You have a match with Chad Gable today . Get up on the ring and defend your tv title now !
Tully takes off the WGN Television Title and drops it on the desk . He throws his robe to one side . He attacks Gable before the bell . Tosses him out to the floor and hits a vertical Suplex and then grabs a chair and beats him unmercifully. The ref calls for the bell DQing Tully .
Blanchard goes back to the podium .
Tully : As far as the Tully Blanchard experience goes for today , offer reseeded. Up hours Karbo and you too Solie . Let’s go Babydoll .
Karbo : Well that’s all well and good . Gordon , Monday Night Kouts , Indiana, at Kouts High School . You are in for a great main event . It will be the WGN Television Champion Tully Blanchard and The AWA Heavyweight Champion HHH in a tag team match Tommy “ Wildfire “ Rich and his partner The Super Destroyer. Gordon , right now we have to get to the Crocket Cup match up , after the match Freddy Miller will give us a run down .
Gordon : Very good Mr . Karbo , we’ll be back .
Break
Crockett Cup opening round The Road Warriors vs Ted Dibiase and Stan Hansen : In the opening moments , these four bad ass , bad attitude men stand on the middle of the ring , just pounding the hell out of one another . The crowd eating it up . The ref doesn’t bother calling for the bell due to the nature of what’s at stake . Hansen big boots Hawk out of the ring and Ted gets off a drop toe hold on Animal and works an STF. Hansen drops several elbows in Animal’s head while in the hood before the ref orders him to the outside . Now Ted works a chinlock on Animal . Animal begins to get off the mat , Ted tags on Hansen , who comes in and blast Animal with a knee the back .
Hansen hits a running knee into the gut while Animal is in the corner and then actually uses a wrestling move . A perfectly executed side Suplex . He tags Ted back on who now hits a spinning neck breaker and clamps down on the Million Dollar Dream . Animal gets to the ropes for the break . Ted tags Hansen back on , Hansen goes for a big elbow drop, but Animal moves out of the way and Hansen hits the mat . Animal with a Fall Away Slam on Hansen then gets the tag to Hawk . Hawk bounds off the ropes with a flying forearm and then a huge ass bodyslam !!! Hawk clotheslines Hansen and now tags Animal back in the two of them hit a double chokeslam on Hansen . Animal covers and Ted breaks it up . Hansen with a desperate Larait and gets the tag to Ted . Ted goes into the figure four . Hawk comes in and kicks him on the head . Now all four men are back on the ring fighting it out . Hawk and Hansen spill outside the ring . Animal with a Buckle Bomb on Ted and then a running Powerslam!! He covers 1…..2…..3 !!!
Gordon : And there you have it . In two weeks time , the Road Warriors will go on to face the Devil’s duo . Right here next week , two more opening round match ups . You will see , Rick and Scott Steiner taking on The team of Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers The Fantastics . From there you will see our own Minnesota Wrecking Crew Ole and Gene Anderson taking on the Fabulous Freebirds . So another big week next week . I’m told we do have a stand by match , but before we get to that , here is our own Freddy Miller about the card for Kouts High School . Monday night Feb . 6th .

Gordon : Well that’s an interesting turn of events here . And I’m told that this mystery man Super Destroyer Mark 1 , will be in action to conclude our show . Joining me now is Babydoll .
Babydoll : Gordon , sometimes mistakes are made and there are imposters . My apologies to you , the great fans and the AWA . I didn’t know that when we talked to the Super Destroyer there was an imposter running around here claiming to be him . This man that I am about to introduce is known as the original Super Destroyer, but now so there is no question , who he is this ladies and gentlemen is the next step . The next level , I give to you , the excellence of execution. The perfection of perfect , the most scientific of science. The Super Destroyer Mark 1 . Oh and security if you will please .
Security surrounds the ring as SD1 makes his way in .
Super Destroyer Mark 1 vs Rick Martel : A good back and forth match up , with SD1 hitting some high flying moves as well as great technical moves . It ends when he hits a missile dropkick off the top rope . He covers 1……2….3 !!!
