Joining me tonight for color commentary from AEW Dynamite Excalibur . Sir , you have called this from the beginning and tonight we are here at Open Finale .
Excalibur : Gordon , it’s been a great tourney . Some huge upsets along the way . Tonight Doctor Death Steve Williams and Terry Bam Bam Gordy will go up against a very different team Bob and Brad Armstrong. Doc and Gordy big powerful skilled wrestlers and absolute maulers . The Armstrongs , technical wrestlers who have a ton of heart . It’s going to be great ,
Gordon : Right now the pick your poison stipulation match . Representing Roman Reigns Ronda Rousey and representing Ted Dibaise Bianca Belair . Let’s go to the ring .
Rousey vs Belair : Heenan comes out with Ronda . This does provide a distraction for Bianca. Rousey nails her from behind and then Suplexes her . Rousey puts on the ankle lock , but Bianca gets to the ropes for the break . Rousey puts the boots to her and try for the ankle lock again . Bianca kicks her off , kip up with a leaping clothesline by Bianca . Belair sets for the KOD . Heenan out of the ref’s sight trips up Bianca , Rousey rolls her into a crucifix for 3 .
Gordon : A bit of controversy here .
Excalibur: Gordon , to say the least . What match will Reigns and Heenan pick for match 1 .
Gordon : We will find out on episode 31 next week . Well coming up next another tag team match , this one with The World Heavyweight Champion Dusty Rhodes and his son Cody .
Excalibur: Gordon , they are taking on Dusty’s arch nemesis The First Family . Last week on AWA Wild Bill Irwin under the directions of Jimmy Hart really hurt Cody’s leg . Will Cody even be able to wrestle here tonight ?
Gordon ; We are about to find that out . Chuck Norris is in the corner of the Rhodes family as a somewhat enforcer in this match .
Dusty & Cody Rhodes ( w/ Chuck Norris ) vs Rick Rude & Jimmy Snuka ( w/ Jimmy Hart ) : Cody comes out limping . His dad is begging him not to wrestle , but he can’t talk him out if it . Hart is gloating . Chuck Norris tells Jimmy to have a seat . Hart cooperates very quickly and wisely. Dusty is begging for Cody not to do this , but the young man is shaking his head no . Brandi comes to ringside and now she’s trying to talk Cody out of it as well . Now Eddie Gilbert comes out of the back . He’s demanding Brandi leave ringside .
He grabs Brandi by the hair . Cody goes after him and Gilbert hits a dragon screw leg whip on Cody hurling him into the ring post . His plan on worked . While that was going on Rude and Snuka beat down Dusty on the outside . Dusty is laying on the floor bleeding . Cody on the floor holding that right leg . Brandi trying to attend to both of them . Gilbert is stalking her now . Chuck Norris jumps up and KO’s Gilbert with a sidekick to the jaw. Hart is checking on Gilbert . Chuck Norris, pulls him back into his seat .
Rude and Snuka are now in the ring , proud of their carnage on the outside . They are taunting Chuck Norris who is now being restrained by security . A bloody Dusty rolls in the ring . Cody is being carried out out by EMT ‘s . Gilbert is also being tended to . Dusty yells to Norris to handle Hart . He’s got these two . Cody can be heard yelling to Brandi as he’s being carried out , “ stay with dad ! “
Dusty hits Rude with a bionic elbow and then one for Jimmy . Dusty with a bodyslam on Rude . Snuka is back up , Belly to Belly on him !!! The ref finally gets control and gets Rude in the corner where he belongs . Dusty has Snuka pinned but the ref is tending to Rude . The ref turns his attention back to Dusty and Jimmy …. 1…….2….. Jimmy kicks out !!! Jimmy is the first to recover due to the bleeding . Jimmy with a vicious chop floors Dusty back to the mat . He tags Rude in . Rude with an elbow drop across the forehead of Dusty . 1…….2…… Noooo !!! Dusty kicks out .
Rude pulls Dusty up and goes for the Rude Awakening , but Dusty counters with Cross Rhodes !!! He slowly crawls over to his man and covers 1…….2……… Nooooo !!! Too much time . Rude is out at two . Rude with a knee drop and then a tag back to Snuka !! Snuka now jumps up and comes down with a falling headbutt . He covers 1…….2……. Dusty gets a foot on the ropes . Brandi is now leading chants of , “ Dusty , Dusty , Dusty . “ Dusty responds and fights his way back up . DDT by Dusty!! He covers 1….,.2..,….Noooooo !!!Rude breaks it up . The ref gets Rude back to the corner . Jimmy now with a Mandible Claw on Dusty . You could see him wearing down . Jimmy tags back off to Rude . Rude with a Spinebuster !! Excalibur tells us that the First Family is punishing every inch of the World Heavyweight Champion . Rude now with a Bearhug . Dusty is on the mat laboring not to submit or let his shoulders touch for 3 !!!
There is some commotion by the fans at ringside . It’s Dustin Rhodes !!! He’s up in the ring apron . Hart is up out of his chair protesting . Sidekick to Harts gut by Chuck Norris shuts him up . Rude is yelling at Norris . This allows Dusty to get the tag to to Dustin who the ref has allowed to tag in this match ! Dustin clothesline on Rude . Drop punch in Snuka !! Dustin with a Bulldog on Rude . He covers 1……2…… Nooo ! Rude kicks out . Dustin sets for a Curtin Call , but Jimmy hits a headbutt from behind . Rude with a huge forearm smash drops Dustin ! He tags off to Jimmy ! Jimmy goes up ….. SUPERFLY DEATH LEAP!!!! 1……2……Dusty breaks it up !!! While the ref is getting Dusty back in the corner Rude and Snuka are double teaming Dustin . Rude now pulls Dustin up . He looks right at Dusty and smiles . He’s going for a Piledriver , but Dustin backdrops out of it sending Rude over the top rope down to the floor !! Remember boys and girls , Rude is not the legal man ……. Dustin with the Curtin Call on Jimmy !! He tags Dusty back in . Dusty with a Bionic Elbow on Snuka and then a Belly to Belly!! He covers 1…….2……3 !!! Dustin , Brandi and Chuck Norris all celebrate the win with Dusty . Rude grabs the house mic . He’s holding the back of his head . Jimmy Snuka is now joining him on the outside .
Rude : Hey ! Hey Rhodes ! All you people need to shut up !! Enjoy this moment , you fat slob . We put one of your stupid kids in the hospital tonight . We’ll put the other one in there real soon . Oh and Chuck Norris , fair warning you want to do that martial arts bs to my manager, well this man to my right is pretty well schooled in that . He’ll take care of you . You see Dusty , little by little fat man we are taking it all from you . Your friends . Your stupid kids . Next that World Heavyweight Title .
Rude tosses down the mic and takes his leave .
Excalibur: Rude is livid !!!
Gordon : For sure , things are getting ugly between the First Family and the Rhodes family . Right now the AWA Junior Heavyweight Title is on the line .
Excalibur: Gordon , we all want to know who is Rey’s mystery opponent.
Mysterio waits . Looking down the aisle . What he dose not see is Dynamite Kid , sneaking up behind him and clotheslining him in the back of the head . Dynamite puts the boots to him as the ref calls for the bell . Dynamite with a Tombstone Piledriver! He covers 1……2…..3 !!!!
Excalibur: Not a fan of Dynamite Kid , but you have to admit his strategy although cowardly was brilliant .
Gordon : Something tells me , he hasn’t heard the last of Rey Mysterio , but congratulations to the new AWA Junior Heavyweight Champion . Right now from our sister company and our friends at BTW the Rock defends his Heritage Championship.
Excalibur: Bill Goldberg has the power Gordon , but does he have the stamina ?
Heritage Championship The Rock vs Goldberg: The two meet in the middle of the ring and fist begin to fly . Goldberg whips Rock into the turnbuckles , but Rock bounces out with a clothesline . Rock pulls Goldberg up and goes for a Samoan Drop , Goldberg lands elbows to the side of the head and gets out the back . Back Suplex !!! Goldberg now works a cross arm breaker .
Rock gets to the ropes for the break and Goldberg puts the boots to him . Rock falls out of the ring . Goldberg grabs a chair and runs toward Rock at full speed . Rock gets off a drop toe hold and Goldberg falls flat on his face . The chair bust him open . Rock now hits The Rock Bottom on the chair . He rolls Goldberg in the ring , as Rock goes to get in the ring , Sherri Martel had snuck down to ringside and grabs The Rock’s leg .
He turns and looks at her . Goldberg is back up , he hits the Rock in the back of the head with a big clubbing forearm . Goldberg with a Powerslam!! Rock staggers up ….. SPEAR !!!!!! Goldberg pulls him up and goes for the Jack Hammer , Rock gets out the back , spins Goldberg around , DDT . Both men are spent and lay on the mat not moving . They take a 10 count . The ref waves the match off .
Gordon : We have a draw . A rematch is in order for sure .
Excalibur: Gordon , I hope it happens sooner than later . Well it’s main event time . The Open Finale starts now .
The Open Championship: Bob and Doc start things off . Doc with a huge clothesline and then a running front Powerslam ! He tags Gordy who goes for a big boot on Bob , but Bob sidesteps and gets off an STO ! Bob gets the tag to Brad who comes in with a side headlock. Gordy works his way off the mat , pulls Brad back to his corner , where Doc knees Brad on the back . Doc gets the tag from Gordy and gets off a football shoulder tackle . Gordy gets the tag back , Gordy with a nasty Kneelift and then leg drop . Doc gets the tag and Brad staggers up into an Exploder !!
Doc now lifts Brad up and slams him across the top turnbuckle. He gets the tag to Gordy and Gordy lays in nasty clubbing forearms to Brad’s chest . Gordy tags Doc back in who sticks his knee up and Gordy drops Brad right on top of it . Now Gordy with a Bucklebomb and the cover . 1……2……Brad is in the ropes . Gordy gets the tag to Doc and Doc hits a Suplex from every angle . Gordon and Excalibur wonder if this moment is too big for the Armstrongs . About that time Brad fires a right hand into Doc’s gut . Side Russian Leg Sweep!!! Brad can’t make the cover. He does tag his dad in though . Bob lays in chops to Doc and then gets off a single leg and goes into a Figure Four !
Gordy comes in and stomps Bob in the head . Doc tags off to Terry . Terry with a big boot to Bob’s face and then a Samoan Drop !! Gordy with a running sit out Powerbomb. He gets 1…..2……Noooo Brad is there to break it up . Now all hell breaks lose all four men are in the ring . Doc goes for the Oklahoma Stampede , but Brad with a interesting counter into a Cross Arm Breaker !! Gordy pulls Bob up and goes for a Piledriver . Bob gets out the back . O’ Connor Roll for two . The ref gets control . Bob with a DDT on Terry . Terry had his foot in the ropes .
Doc clips Bob’s leg from behind . Gordy tags in Doc . Doc goes for another stampede , but the arm is hurting from Brad’s submission hold . It gives way . Bob with a makeshift pedigree . He covers 1……2……Nooooo Doc kicks out . Doc with his good arm lays chops into Bob , but Bob fires right back . Doc hits a Spear !!!! He crawls for the cover , 1….. 2…… Nooooo !!!! Bob gets a foot on the ropes . Doc goes to pull Bob up …..SUPERKICK BY BOB !!!! Bob rolls to the corner and tags Brad . Brad comes off the top rope with a crossbody as Doc staggers up . Gordy tries to get there , but Bob breaks it up with a Superkick . Brad has the cover on Doc …… 1…….2……. THREE !!!!!
Gordon : I guess the moment wasn’t too big .
Excalibur: Gordon , can you believe these Armstrongs . They now have a date with the World Tag Team Champions !! The question is where .
