Subject: WCW Monday Nitro #40 Mon Feb 14, 2022 3:49 pm
The show opens up with the closing moments from the Main Event of Wrestle Kingdom.......
Hogan storms the ring and Blanchard charges him only to be met with a big boot to the face. Arn then tries his luck but Hogan fights him off. Austin gets to his feet.....STUNNER TO FLAIR! Hogan clotheslines Arn over the top rope. Austin and Hogan walk backwards in the ring right into each other!!! Austin and Hogan both spin around and are looking each other right in the eyes! The fans are going nuts. Hogan and Austin have a conversation that the cameras can't pick up and even though he's not thrilled with the outcome, Austin calls for a couple of beers as he and Hogan share a cold one as the show fades to black.
Gene Okerlund: "Hello once again wrestling fans, and welcome to this week's edition of WCW Monday Nitro! And you seen at the top of the hour what went down at Wrestle Kingdom as Hulk Hogan appeared, and now has everyone wondering the association between him and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin! So we aren't going to waste any time.....we are going straight to the man himself........ HULK HOGAN!"
Gene Okerlund: "Alright Hulk Hogan.....the last time we seen you, you was employed by Windy City Pro Wrestling. And we all know that they recently went belly up. Does this mean you are now under contract to WCW?"
Hulk Hogan: "WELL LEMME TELL YOU SOMETHING MEAN GENE..... Windy City might have went belly up..... but Hulkamania is as strong as ever Brotha! And just to remind everyone..... I won the battle royal back in December to face the world champion anytime I see fit! But to answer your question...... NO! I'm not under WCW contract! The question to my whereabouts will be answered soon enough Dude! But in the meantime......"
Steve Austin: "I was sitting in the back.....drinking a few cold ones and I couldn't help but hearing all the noise out here. So i wanted to come out here so I could hear you a little better. Did I just hear you day that you have no WCW contract?"
Hulk Hogan: "You heard me right Brotha!"
Steve Austin: "Well that tells me then, that much like my match against Flair at Wrestle Kingdom.....you don't have any business sticking your nose in WCW business...... especially when it concerns "Stine Cold" Steve Austin!"
Hulk Hogan: "Now wait a minute Austin! You got it all wrong dude! I saved you from the beating the Horsemen was about to give you at Wrestle Kingdom! A little appreciation would be nice!"
Steve Austin: "You can take all the appreciation you want, and shove it straight up your orange tanned ass! The fact of the matter is I'm the #1 contender to that IWA World title and I could give a rats ass about any contract you have. But when you come here to WCW wanting title shots, you best believe that I take that as you messing with my meal ticket Son. And your just a Stunner away from not only being unemployed but handicapped as well!"
The fans begin to buzz as Austin and Hogan stare each other down in the middle of the ring. But before they can come to blows, out comes WCW General Manager...... Eric Bischoff!
Eric Bischoff: "Hold it! Hold it one minute! Austin your right.....you are the #1 contender to the IWA World title! And Hogan..... you also have a contract to face the world champion anytime you see fit. Which brings me to this..... right before we went on air tonight, I was informed by Gorilla Monsoon that the Clash of Champions is coming up on March the 5th! And the IWA World champion..... who happens to be Ric Flair at the moment.....and. a contractual obligation to be at that event! So I proposed to Monsoon that Ric Flair should defend against Hulk Hogan! With special guest referee..... "STONE COLD" STEVE AUSTIN!!!
Hogan nods his head in approval but Austin starts marching around the ring, not liking what he's hearing at all. Then out comes.....
Arn Anderson: "This shows been on the air for 15 minutes so far and all we have heard is these two blow hands talking smack. Now on any other night, Ric Flair would have came out here and slapped you both in the face. But the champ has the night off. So being The Enforcer of The Horsemen, I might just come out here and do it for him!"
Eric Bischoff: "That gives me a great idea! Since Hogan and Austin are already in the ring. And you and Tully are in your ring gear...... let's do the match right now..... Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin against The Horsemen!! Referee.....ring the bell!"
***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
Match One: Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin vs Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard
Hogan wants to start the match off and walks around the ring hulking up and playing to the fans. Austin blind tags in and flips Hogan off then charges at Tully. Austin controls Tully with fighting antics in the early going. But it's the Horsemen..... and they do what they do best..... double team Austin with quick tags in and out.
Hogan finally gets the hot tag and a pier sixer breaks out as all four men battle it out. Hogan hits a clothesline to Arn knocking him over the top rope to the floor. Austin hits Tully with a Stunner and Hogan follows that up with a legdrop. As Austin watches on, Hogan covers and pins Tully for the three count. Hogan gets up celebrating and Austin feels disrespected......STUNNER TO HOGAN! Austin stands over Hogan and then flips him off before leaving the ring.
Jim Ross : "Well it damned sure didn't take long for chaos to break out tonight on Nitro! And while Hogan and Austin get the victory there, it's damned obvious that the Texas Rattlesnake doesn't want any part of Hogan in his business. And now the big question is..... can Austin be a impartial ref at The Clash of Champions?"
***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
Match Two: Ted DiBiase vs Bob Sweetan
Sweeten uses his size to try and ground DiBiase but DiBiase comes back with a series of suplexes as he begins to wear down Sweetans back. DiBiase then hits a powerslam on Sweetsn to get the pinfall. As the replay is being shown, Okerlund joins DiBiase at ringside......
Gene Okerlund: "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Impress victory for this man..... Ted DiBiase welcome to WCW!"
Ted DiBiase: "Thank you Gene....it's an honor to be here. When you look around the IWA, and see all the great talents, I wasn't sure where I would wind up. And then I took a look at the WCW roster and imagined locking up with guys like Owen Hart, Barry Windham, Terry Gordy, and even the world champ himself, Ric Flair! 2022 will be the year that Ted DiBiase climbs the ranks and proves he can go with the best of them!"
As DiBiase walks away, the cameras pan backstage where we see Andrade watching DiBiases interview, seemingly unimpressed.
***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
Match Three: Big Van Vader & Bam Bam Bigelow vs Sam Houston and Tim Horner
This one is just an onslaught and the things that Vader and Bigelow do to Horner and Houston is probably illegal in 32 states! Vader powerbombs Horner and Bigelow catapults over the top rope with a splash as Vader and Bigelow win in less than 2 minutes.
Big Van Vader: "ROAD WARRIORS.... WHAT HAPPENED IN JAPAN IS JUST THE BEGINNING! FOR YEARS YOU TWO HAVE MADE A LIVING OUT OF PUTTING FEAR IN THE HEARTS OF YOUR OPPONENTS! LOOK AT US!!! DO WE LOOK SCARED? WARRIORS.... YOU SHOULDNT HUNT WHAT YOU CANT KILL!"
***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
Match Four: Sting vs Cactus Jack
As Sting took the time to get some encouragement from a fan, Cactus attacks him from behind. Sting had to rally through the pain while avoiding a running Cactus Jack. The fans were thoroughly enjoying Sting taking the fight to Jack on the floor. Grabbing the trashcan he brought to the ring, Jack tried to knock Sting down, but ended up feeling a suplex onto the trashcan. The trashcan was getting all kinds of bent out of shape as Sting slammed, filled and splashed the objected with Jack stuffed inside. Sting, looking to pick up the pace, ended up taking a low blow that left him rolling in agony. Irish whip against the turnbuckles set up a Jack bulldog. The ref is being lenient znd letting these two fight it out without calling for a disqualification. The fans believed in Sting, but Jack had the opportunity to use objects like a steel chair to rattle Sting’s spine. The action returned inside and Jack found himself still in control as he took the time to wear out Sting. The flying headbutt-leg drop combo by Jack once again had the fans chanting in Sting’s favor. Sting, for the life of him, just couldn’t get the comeback going; feeling a double arm DDT that Jack believed would put his opposition down for the ten count. Back dropping his way out of another DDT, Sting propelled Jack to ringside for not only some mounted punches, but also a suplex on the floor!
The Stinger Splash in the ring missed; allowing Jack to execute a hotshot that drove the wind out of Sting and put him on the floor again. Taking Sting to the aisle, Jack wanted the flying elbow off the apron. Jack drilled Sting with elbow drop. Jack decided he needed to hear Sting say, “I quit.” Sting verbally refused; angering Jack to the point he grabbed another chair. Sting avoided the wild chair shot, causing the chair to ricochet off the nearby ropes. Staggered, Jack found himself prone to a dropkick that knocked him from the apron onto the floor! Barely able to move, Jack couldn’t stop the Scorpion Deathlock or the referee stoppage. Sting let's out his Stinger yell and grabs the housemic.....
Sting: "Karrion Kross..... I could come out here and make excuses as to why you got the victory over me at Wrestle Kingdom! I could say I let my guard down just long enough to feel sorry for Scarlett as she crashed through that table. I could blame it on the blood loss I had. But I won't! What I am gonna do is brush myself off..... and come looking for you again! You beat me once Kross.....but there's no way you can do it again! Let's do the thing one more time!!! OWWWWWWWWW!"
***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
As we come back from break, we see the IWA X Division champion, MJF, making his way to the ring followed by his bodyguard Wardlow
MJF: "All the weeks leading up to Wrestle Kingdom all you marks said there was no way that I could beat Brian Cage.....especially in a I Quit match! Sure ....Cage is a machine. And how do you bear a Machine? A man with a million dollar body....and a ten cent mind! That's exactly how! You outsmart him! I knew that tramp of his, Melissa Santos, couldn't help herself and stay away from the ring and let the men handle their business. That's why when I put that slut in Salt of the Earth and I heard her scream out in pain and Cage crying out begging me to stop and let her go..... he had no choice but to say I Quit! Just so he could save his wife. And in that moment the men was seperated from the boys! And that weakness shown by Cage is why he will never be anything in this sport! And we can add him to the list of names like Brian Pillman..... Jungle Boy..... Owen Hart.....Rey Mysterio.....that came up short in their efforts against me. For almost one year now..... 10 months ..... I've held this title, proving each and every time that I am what I say I am.....and that's Better Than You..... And You Know It! Actions speak for themselves so they say. And it proves true because where are all the challengers at for this title? I will tell you where.....hiding because they don't want to be embarrassed like the rest of losers I have beaten! Who knows Wardlow...... I might just retire 10 years from now still holding this belt! Let's get out of this shithole!"
The fans pop loud as out comes.......
ROB VAN DAM!!!!
RVD takes his time getting to ringside as he plays to the crowd as MJF is shown with a slight look of concern as RVD finally gets in the ring and stands across from MJF. Van Dam does his fingers shtick as the fans chant along.......
ROB....... VAN........DAM!
Jim Ross: "BYGAWD.....RVD IS HERE! AND IT LOOKS TO ME AS HES TELLING MJF THAT HE WANTS A SHOT AT THAT IWA X DIVISION TITLE!! OULD WE BE LOOKING AT THE MAN WHO COULD END THE REIGN OF THAT POMPOUS ASS? FANS WE ARE OUTTA TIME.....WE WILL SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!"

good show.
great opening segment with Austin/Hogan.
that's what Hogan gets for trying to help out Austin at WRESTLE KINGDOM.....
Dibiase has arrived..He could be a force to reckon with in WCW.
MJF/RVD could be a good program here in WCW.

its only a matter of time before we get Austin vs. Hogan
I can see this feud with Sting and Kross bringing out the darker, crow Sting eventually
Looking forward to what you do with Andrade
RVD is a great challenger for MJF due to the X Division concept .... would really like to see more of that style of matches when it comes to that title

That opening segment has set the tone for NITRO!
But Hogan's shadiness as to him being in WCW ,albeit without a contract, has me concerned for SCSA!
Hell of an opener and glad Hogan got his ass stunned afterwards!
great Dibiase promo! Some great matchups here for him!
i think the RWS better be on their toes!
brutal match with Sting/cactus
Sting vs Kross again? YES PLEASE!
Great promo from the world x division champ and i can't say he's wrong!
I agree that he needs some new challengers to step up!
