Wrestle Kingdom #289 - 'Fall of an Empire'

Tonights show is being brought to you with limited commercial interruption by the NBA on ESPN ....

We begin tonight's show with a HUGE pyro display as the newly-opened, 10,000 seat Wrestle Kingdom arena is rocking!

We start off the show with a BIG video package of the Shield rematch .... we get pre-taped comments from new Wrestle Kingdom GM Dana White hyping the fight ....


VIGNETTE - we get a vignette for NIA JAX hyping her debut ... Jax says most girls take what they are given in life .... But she's not most girls .... she's not some cookie cutter 'diva', she's something that you've never seen before ....


Match 1: women's showcase
Nia Jax
- vs -
Alicia Fox

Jax absolutely dominates Fox .... this is no contest as Fox tries to get in some shot but they have no effect on Jax .... Jax hits an avalanche splash in the corner, then she hits a big leg drop .... she can pin Fox here but pulls her up before the 3 .... Jax hits a fallaway slam into a Samoan drop to finally end this one ....

The announcers put over Jax after the match .... they have never seen someone with the strength of Nia Jax, and they speculate that she could even be stronger than Awesome Kong ....


IN THE BACK - we get a split screen showing all 3 members of the Shield getting ready to face each other tonight ....


Brand new Evolve Champion 'The Machine' Brian Cage comes out .... Recap of Cage destroying Tyler Breeze in 35 seconds to win the title .... Cage says he is the definition of what the Evolve title stands for because ever since he walked in the door a year ago he is the evolution of pro wrestling .... where else are you going to see a guy dead lift 700 pounds and then perform an asai moonsault?  He's ready to take the Evolve title to new heights ....

Tyler Breeze's music hits but we don't get the flamboyant entrance this time .... Breeze storms to the ring with a pouty look on his face and he quickly tells Cage that he wasn't ready to face him last week and Cage had to cheap shot him to win the title .... Breeze wants his rematch and he wants it tonight!

Out comes Dana White to lay down the law .... he makes the matches here, not Tyler Breeze .... Tyler will get his title rematch, but it won't be tonight because he has already booked Breeze in a match .... against SILAS YOUNG!!!!


Match 2: singles match

'Pro Wrestlings Last Real Man' Silas Young

Cage remains at ringside .... the fans are really digging Silas, and Breeze isn't happy about the match .... the action spills outside early on, and Young stops by the announce table to stare down Cage before the match .... Breeze uses this chance to cheap shot Young and take over .... Breeze then turns and nails Cage with a superkick while he's sitting at the announce table!  Back in the ring, Young makes a comeback and sets Breeze up for misery (TKO) but he slips out and nails the beauty shot out of nowhere!  Cage recovers at ringside and then hits the ring and attacks Breeze, causing the DQ finish ....

Young isn't too happy about the finish and he lets Cage know about it .... they get in each other's face and argue as Breeze slips out and escapes .... Young and Cage get into a shoving match, which turns into a brawl that has to be separated by security ....


IN THE BACK -

Dana White is with BRITT MCHENRY and he promotes next weeks show .... he announces that Glory is less than 30 days away and next week BOTH Kevin Steen and Dolph Ziggler will be here .... In order to promote the world heavyweight main event of Glory, BOTH AJ Styles and Kevin Steen will take part in a 'pick your poison' match where they will be able to pick each other's opponent for next week!  

White is interrupted as Bobby Roode enters his office without permission .... Roode says he wants to introduce himself to White and says he is the only guaranteed, blue chip superstar on this roster .... he is on his own now and it is 'glorious' .... he tells Dana White to latch on to his coat tails and he will take him to new heights and help him earn all those zeros that Disney is paying him .... White tells him to leave and not to interrupt him again .... Roode says it is time he was treated as the star he is ...


Match 3: singles match

Aaron 'The Idol' Stevens (Damien Sandow)

Sandow goes back to his original gimmick that he had when he appeared on the first ever SSW show .... pretty similar to the Arron Rex gimmick in TNA right now .... Stevens gets in a little offense, but this is mostly Roode .... Roode finishes Stevens off with the Roode Bomb for the 3 count ....    

We get a highlight package of the happenings in the tag team division between American Alpha, the Kingdom, and the new Wrestle Kingdom tag team champions, The Revival .... Even as this company has grown and evolved from its humble beginnings as SSW, the tag team division has always been the deepest and best in the entire UWF .... these 3 young tag teams are showing why that legacy continues ....


Match 4: tag team match
American Alpha (Chad Gable & Jason Jordan)
- vs -
The Kingdom (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) w/ Maria Kannelis

Good back and forth action to start with Alpha owning the match and sending Taven and Bennett to the floor for a breather .... Alpha owns the ring .... the action settles back down when the music of the WWA tag champions the Revival hits, distracting both teams in the ring .... the Kingdom take advantage and get a cheap shot on Gable .... the Revival come out and do commentary for the rest of the match .... this ends up becoming an issue as Maria and the Revival get into a yelling match, which brings Bennett over to get involved .... meanwhile, American Alpha get the advantage in the ring and hit the Grand Amplitude on Taven for the 3 count!

The Revival and Kingdom have more words afterwards, where the Revival make fun of them for losing the
match ....


IN RING SEGMENT -

Jay Bradley makes his Wrestle Kingdom debut .... he comes out and talks about being given a chance at redemption .... He knows what it's like to be on top of the world and have it all come crashing down .... he knows what it's like to be left with nothing .... Wrestle Kingdom is giving him a 2nd chance and he's either going to 'go big or go home' .... He asks for a match against Global champion Sami Zayn ....

This brings out Ethan Carter III to interrupt .... EC3 is not happy at all .... he says Bradley doesn't know anything about hitting rock bottom .... EC3 says he had the world at his fingertips but then Bob Iger jerked the rug out from under him and brought in Dana White .... now his imported water from Italy is gone, his private catering, and his private dressing room .... now Dana White expects him to dress with the rest of the talent!  And Iger won't return his calls!  He says if something isn't done about this then he is prepared to sit out his very large 7 figure contract and see just how much money Disney has to throw away ....

Bradley says EC3 is nothing but a spoiled, entitled brat that doesn't know what it's like to have to fight for your livelihood .... EC3 says no one is getting to Zayn unless they go through him first .... Bradley says he's a fighter, and if EC3 wants to stand in his way, he will fight him next week instead!


Another video package airs to promote the Shield triple threat match ....

Dean Ambrose

Everything seems all cool before the bell, but as soon as it rings Ambrose jumps Reigns in a frenzy .... Rollins tries to pull him off but Ambrose turns and attacks him like a wild man too .... Ambrose goes back to Reigns but Rollins school boys him for a near fall .... Ambrose and Rollins go back and forth while, but Reigns is back in and takes them both out with clotheslines .... Power moves by Reigns but Rollins and Ambrose team up to take him outside .... Ambrose wipes out Reigns with a suicide dive, then he and Rollins team up to put Reigns through the announce table with the Shield Bomb!!!!

The teamwork doesn't last long as Ambrose immediately goes after Rollins and they brawl on the floor .... Ambrose does his spot where he runs across multiple announce tables and jumps on Rollins .... Back in the ring, both men end up battling on the top rope, which ends in Rollins hitting a super-plex on Ambrose .... he holds on and rolls through right into a falcon Arrow!  2 count!!!!  Rollins goes up top, but stops him and scoops him up for the midnight special .... Reigns is back in and grabs BOTH men and lifts them on his shoulders and drills them with a Samoan drop!  Holy shit!!!!  All 3 men are down!  Reigns and Ambrose are up first and stand toe to toe exchanging right hands .... Reigns gets the better of the deal and traps Ambrose in the corner and hits the rapid fire clotheslines .... Black Tiger Bomb to Ambrose!  1 ... 2 ... 2.99999!!!!  Reigns measures Ambrose for the spear but Rollins flies in out of nowhere with the springboard knee strike to take out Reigns!  

Rollins goes for the buckle bomb on Ambrose but he battles out and goes for Dirty Deeds .... Rollins breaks out and hits an enziguri and Ambrose tries to come back with the jawbreaker lariat but Rollins moves and he takes out be ref by mistake!!!!  Superkick by Rollins connects, but Ambrose rebounds and this time connects with the jawbreaker!  Both men are down!!!!  They get to their feet, and Reigns is up and tries to spear Rollins but he leapfrogs out of the way and Reigns spears Ambrose instead!  Curb Stomp by Rollins!!!!  Rollins has the cover but there is no ref!  He tries to revive the ref when out of the back come the Usos!!!!  They attack Rollins!!!!  What the hell????  Ambrose is back up and tries to help Rollins, but REIGNS SPEARS BOTH ROLLINS AND AMBROSE AT THE SAME TIME!!!!  Reigns looks at the Usos and flashes them a smile, and they pick up Ambrose .... SUPERMAN PUNCH!  They pick Ambrose up again .... another superman punch!  A 3rd!!!!  The Usos go to Rollins and pick him up for Reigns, WHO SPEARS HIM THROUGH THE TABLE!!!!  The Usos toss the ref back in the ring and Reigns covers Rollins for the 1 ... 2 ... 3!


The fans shower the ring with trash as the Usos and Reigns hug in the ring .... Reigns holds up the moment of truth medallion and makes the belt sign around his waist .... Ambrose and Rollins are being tended to by the trainers and staff as the show goes off the air ....
