THE GRAND PRIX TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT ROUND 1
1. Speed Muscle vs Noam Dar & David Finlay Jr w/Alicia Fox
Dar & Finlay work well together but Speed Muscle have been together for years. They seize control late and take out Finlay Jr with Muscle Memory (Flapjack lifted and dropped into a Bulldog).
Winners: Speed Muscle
2. Sanada & EVIL Watanabe w/Mio Shirai vs BxB HULK & CIMA
HULK & CIMA really control the Sadist Colony members for a good portion of the match. But then the action spills to the floor and Mio's tean seizes control. In the end EVIL puts down HULKwith the EVIL STO.
Winners: Sanada & EVIL Watanabe
3. Mike Bennett & Cody Hall w/Maria vs Daisuke Sekimoto & KENTA
Due to what happened at GLORY Antonio Inoki realigned the bracketts to get these teams in the ring against one another. KENTA has his knee heavily bandaged but he doesn't care he attacks Mike and the two of them spend the entire match brawling on the outside. Leaving Sekimoto and Hall to what was basically a singles match. Hall showed some good spots but in the end he was felled by a Decapitator Lariat.
Winners: Daisuke Sekimoto & KENTA
4. Tetsuya Bushi & Kamaitachi vs Dragon Lee & Taiji Ishimori
Some really nice sequences between Kamaitachi & Dragon Lee who are developing quite a rivalry. Lee hits Kamaitachi with Mother of Dragons but Bushi makes the save. Later Bushi tries for MX but Lee dropkicks him out the air to the floor. Lee hits a dive out on him. Inside the ring Ishimori goes for a 450 Splash on Kamaitachi but he misses. Kamaitachi then hits Time Bomb (Fireman's carry swung into a high-angle sitout side powerslam). 1.. 2.. 3!
Winners: Tetsuya Bushi & Kamaitachi
5. Authors of Pain w/Maria vs Yuji Nagata & Yoshi Tatsu
Yuji starts off and really dominates the members of the Kingdom. He gets Akam in the Seated Armbar but Rezar makes the save. Yuji then gives him an Exploder Suplex. He covers... 1.. 2.. No. Yoshi Tatsu comes in and hits a Leg Lariat on Rezar. He goes for one on Akam but is caught and Powerslammed. They now beat him down awhile then ends it with The Last Chapter (Russian legsweep / Lariat combination). Rezar covers and gets the 3!
Winners: Authors of Pain
6. Akira Tozawa & Yujiro Takahashi w/Pieter vs Blonde Bashers
Tozawa & Takahashi know they are big underdogs here and attack before the bell thanks to a Pieter distraction. They send Makabe and Honma to the floor and whip them into the railing. They get Honma in the ring and continue to double team him. They get a few 2 counts but that's all. They look to give him a double vertical suplex but he blocks it and instead suplexes both of them. Hot tag to Togi who hits a Double Lariat. After a bit of 4 way action Makabe hits Akira with the King Kong Knee Drop for the win.
Winners: Blonde Bashers
7. Suzuki-Gun (Minoru Suzuki & Taka Michinoku) vs Yoshi Hashi & Hirooki Goto
This was a fiery battle as Goto & Minoru have faced each other so far in singles as well as 6-Man action so far. Goto and Suzuki trade a multitude of elbows to the head. Neither man giving an inch. But a poke to the eye by Suzuki wins him the mini-battle. They work over Hirooki for a bit but he hits a left handed Lariat and tags in Hashi who hits a Flying Clothesline. He goes up and nails Taka with a Flying Dropkick. He covers for 2.
Taka is able to dropkick the knee of Yoshi Hashi and then Minoru gets in and punishes the Young Lion. Battle continues and soon all 4 men are in the ring. Goto hits Michinoku with the Shouten-Kai while Minoru gives Yoshi the Gotch Piledriver. Both cover but at 2 Taka kicks out while Hashi gets counted to 3.
Winners: Suzuki-Gun
Main Event: Go Shiozaki & Shingo Takagi vs Naomichi Marufuji & Kaz Hayashi
This match was also realigned by Inoki due to both parties demanding to face each other. The match breaks out of control before the bell ever rings. The referee calls for the bell. Antonio Inoki steps in the ring after some order is restored. He says he wont let his Main Event end that way. He declares this to be a No DQ match and restarts it.
Marufuji is incensed and is whipping Shingo all over the arena. But that leaves Kaz with Shiozaki. Hayashi gets a High Cross Body for 2. He also gets Go in a Sleeperhold. But eventually he gets caught with a Gōwan Lariat. Then he hits him with Limit Break (Wrist-clutch inverted scoop brainbuster) 1.. 2.. 3!
Winners: Go Shiozaki & Shingo Takagi
(The match ending means nothing to Marufuji and Takagi who continue to brawl through the arena. There may be no match but this is a fight. It takes another 10 minutes before they can be separated much to the fans delight.)
