Announcer Gus Johnson welcomes everyone to the show. He has bad news as this will be the last episode of Next Generation for now. They have lost their TV deal and Snoop at this time has decided to suspend shows for the foreseeable future. That also means Next Generation will not be at Wrestlemania. But tonight they will have that NextGen Title match here instead as Will Ospreay faces Baron Corbin. And the winner... will be called up to the XWA roster. Also we have the finals of the women's tournament and that is coming up next.
Match 1: Evie vs Amanda Rodriguez
The winner of this match gets to face the winner of the XWA tournament for the Femme Fatale title. Evie is by far the crowd favorite and she wows them with blinding speed and technique. Amanda is a brawler and uses that to wear the New Zealander down. In the Amanda counters Evie's Finisher into a Backstabber then hits the Spinning Brainbuster for the victory.
Match 2: Fist of Islam w/Shawn Daivari vs Charm City Squad
The boys from B-More have come to visit. Fist of Islam are not intimidated. The wrestle and a hard match but its the strength of Moose which turns the tide. Things break down and everyone is in the ring. Swann goes for a Springboard 450 but is shoved off by Shawn Daivari. He crashes to the mat. FOI hurl Moose to the floor then end it by hitting Swann with Thunderbolt (Ali Springboard Legdrop and Daivari Running Shooting Star Simultaneously.) 1.. 2.. 3!
Winners: Fist of Islam
(After Gus puts over how this is the first time someone from the NextGen roster got a victory over a visitor from XWA. It is quite the feather in the cap of Fist of Islam.)
A somber General Manager Jack Tunney comes out. He apologizes for the bad news about the show but says he believes Next Generation will return someday. The wrestling world needs a place for its young stars to learn the craft. He lets us know that Richie Steamboat has been called up to the main roster which receives applause from the crowd. Then out walks Rush who says if its the last show you knew he had to come out and interrupt Jack once more. He says he was supposed to get a shot at the Tag Titles if he found a partner, He did. And he wants that match now. Jack says fine and we head to the ring.
Match 3: Speed Brawl vs Rush & ??? - NextGen Tag Team Titles
The champs are in the ring when Rush grabs a mic. He says he needed to find someone who embodied the Ingobernable code and he did. Instead of El Ingobernable they are Los Ingobernables and out walks TETSUYA NAITO! The match is a wild brawl. Being that this is the final show the referee was quite lenient here. The Champs get a number of near falls. But Naito counters a winding Powerslam from Finlay into the Destino and gets the victory and the titles.
NextGen correspondent, Chopra Priyanka interviews the Future. Corbin says tonight they finally get the NextGen title and a spot in XWA but Lee says that's great for him but what about them? Baron says he can't help it if they weren't called up. They will just have to work harder and maybe then can rise to the top like he did. Baron walks off with Lee and Dijak just shaking their heads.
Fans really got into this battle of heels as both men are full of promise. Bushi looks for his Flying Codebreaker but Adam Catches him and hits a falling Powerbomb then ends it with the Slingshot Lariat.
Its all Corbin early on. Using his superior size and strength to dominate the champion. A Handspring enzuigiri turns the tide. He follows up with Pip Pip Cheerio (Springboard forearm smash). He covers... 1.. 2.. No! kickout by Corbin. He goes for a Standing corkscrew somersault Senton but Baron gets his knees up. He grabs Will and hits a Powerbomb! 1.. 2.. NOOOO!! Will barely kicks out.
Ospreay staggers over to the ropes. Corbin charges him but Will drops down and pulls the top rope down as well and Corbin goes tumbling over to the floor. Will claps his hands with crowd then unleashes a Sasuke Special out on to Baron as the crowd cheers. He rolls him back in and goes for another Pip Pip Cheerio but Corbin pulls the ref into the way! The ref is out. Ospreay is dazed as Corbin signals to the back.
Out walks the rest of Future. They head to the ring and have Ospreay surrounded. Then as they are about to pounce they turn to Corbin and both give him the finger and walk back out. Baron is incensed and is screaming at them to come back. Ospreay charges but gets a Big Boot to the face by Corbin. He covers... but there is no ref!!! Corbin is fuming he is shaking the referee. As he is doing this and the ref is coming to. Ospreay school boys him! 1.. 2.. NOOO!!! Lariat by Corbin. He then looks for End of Days but Ospreay counters into a Tilt-A-Whirl reverse DDT! He scoots up the ropes. IMPLODING 450 SPLASH!!! 1.. 2.. 3!
Winner: Will Ospreay
Will celebrates as he is ready to take the next step in his career. Corbin is on the floor holding his ribs as Lee & Dijak watch from the top of the stage with smirks.
Gus Johnson then thanks everyone for watching. Then signs off for maybe the final time.
