Announcer Gus Johnson welcomes everyone to the show. He informs us that tonight will be the Semi-Finals of the Women's tournament. Also in the Main Event tonight will be Will Ospreay defending the NextGen Title against #1 Contender Daisuke Sekimoto.
Match 1: Evie vs Mandy Rose
The winner of this match gets into the finals next show. Both girls have their fans but the majority seem to like Evie slightly more. Mandy might sense that as she wrestles a bit more aggressively than usual. She whips the New Zealand star into the buckle then takes her out via a Monkey Flip. Mandy goes for an elbow drop but misses. Evie hits a series of dropkicks. Then a winding bodyslam. Jumping legdrop connects but she only gets a 2 count. Evie tries for a Tornado DDT but Mandy pushes her off and she lands face first. Mandy goes for the Golden Bomb But Evie Counters into a double leg cradle and gets the victory.
Match 2: Tetsuya Naito & Bushi vs Henare & Willie Mack
Wild brawl with Mack and the newcomer Henare using their size and strength. Naito realizes early this is not going well and leaves his partner out there by himself. Bushi has no chance all alone and winds up being the victim of a Henare Spinning Spinebuster. 1.. 2.. 3. Gus exclaims "Planted!"
General Manager Jack Tunney comes out. He apologizes for no special guest this show but tells us about the plans for the winner of Next Show's Ladies Tournament Final to face the winner of a XWA Ladies tournament to crown the XWA Femme Fatale Champion. He also says Next show we will see The Steamboats in action as Ricky Steamboat makes a visit. And they will face the team of Trevor Lee & Donovan Dijak. He then makes one more announcement about Wrestlemania. He assures everyone that Next Generation will be involved and it will be whoever comes out of tonight's Main Event with the NextGen Title defending that title against a challenger who will name later.
This has been the hottest feud in the company the last few shows. Gus is much more professional here than he usually is when Rebel wrestles. He does point out the attacks by Amanda and the retaliations from Rebel. They have themselves a bit of a slugfest. Rebel takes the fight to her both inside and outside the ring. Amanda is able to cut her off with a Back Elbow to the jaw. She now beats on the Southern Belle for a bit but can't keep her down. Rebel comes back with a Release German. Then goes for the Southern Charm but misses. Running knee to the face of Rebel then Rodriguez hits the Spinning Brainbuster and gets the win.
Winner: Amanda Rodriguez
(Gus you can hear is disappointed in the outcome but says Amanda beat her in the center of the ring.)
NextGen correspondent, Chopra Priyanka interviews the NextGen Tag Team Champions, Speed Brawl. They say now that BMX last left the territory they are looking for new challengers. Out walks Rush. He says he will challenge them for the belts. They say he is going to need a partner before they agree. So Rush says by next show he will reveal who that partner is.
This is pretty much a squash as the Hangman is really trying to make a statement. He could have put away Evan early but continued to abuse him just for sport. He hits Turn the Page (Reverse STO). But doesn't stop there he goes to the apron and hits his finisher, The Adam's Apple (Slingshot lariat). It's an easy 3 count. Gus says Evan may need to think about a new line of work.
Despite his cocky attitude Ospreay has been slowly gaining some fans here. And while Sekimoto is the favorite, Will does have some support. The match is the classic speed vs power affair. Daisuke catches Will with a Backdrop that sends the champ 15 feet in the air. He goes for his Lariat but Will dropkicks his knee as he charges.
Now Will works the leg for a bit. Trying to keep the big man from being able to use his killer Clothesline. Sekimoto is able to work his way back to a vertical base. He is able to nail a Sidewalk Slam then a Senton Splash. 1.. 2.. NO! Daisuke is laying big shots and hits a Tornado Punch that flattens the Englishman. He sends him for another huge backdrop but Will lands on his feet! He then catches the challenger with a Handspring enzuigiri. Spinning Side slam follows then he goes up and hits the English Air Strike (Corkscrew shooting star press). 1.. 2.. 3!
Winner: Will Ospreay
Will continues his dominance as champion. He has his belt and stands in the ring defiantly. Then from behind attacks Baron Corbin! He he hits a short-arm Clothesline on Will then hits End of Days. As Will is laid out Baron looks down at him and points up to the Wrestlemania sign above. Gus says Will can't put this off any longer. He just got word from Jack Tunney. Baron Corbin will get his title shot at Wrestlemania.
Gus Johnson then thanks everyone for watching and reminds us that next show the Main Event will be the tournament final with Evie taking on Amanda Rodriguez. Then signs off.
