And tonight we kick off a historic three night event featuring sixteen of the best junior wrestlers in the world as they compete in the Super J-Cup! And on night three, one of them will be crowned the NJPW Junior Champion! Fans, it's time to get down to business..... it's time to start the Super J-Cup tournament!" Opening Round: Great Sasake vs Jay White Lockup! White corners his opponent. Huge chop.Whip to Sasake into the corner, kick from Sasake misses a kick but gets another to Jay. He hits a right elbow to Jay, some kicks, Sasake to the top and he drives some knees to the back of Jay. Jay sends Sasake to the apron, he springboard, falls onto the rope, backs back down, and hits a rana to Jay! Jay rolls to the outside.
Sasake to the top rope. He walks it, drops down, Jay on the apron, high kick to Jay. He flies to the apron, kicks the jaw, again to the top rope, moonsault off the middle buckle, lands on his feet. White kicks, front suplex onto the apron! White is chopping the chest off of Sasake, who eplies wwith a chop, a kick, another kick, a slap to the face, the chest! A rollup from Sasake gets a 1......2......NO!!! Low clothesline from White knocks Sasake on his ass. Lockup from behind, Sasake elbows out, chop from Jay, he sits Sasake up on the top rope. Jay climbs, Sasake slinks off, kicks Jay in the ass, He hops to the top rope and pulls back the arm of Jay, but Jay pokes the eye . Enziguri from Sasake. Whote tujmbles to the outside. Sasake to the top rope. Jay rolls back in, Sasake hops over, lands on his feet, kicks White out of the ring. Sasake back to the top rope. He walks the ropes, hops to the adjacent side, and flies onto Jay!!! He sends White back into the ring. Ropewalk shooting star press! But White rolls away! Sasake covers! 1..2..NO!!!!! Springboard Pheonix Splash from Sasake outa nowhere! Cover for 1.....2......NO!!! To the top rope again. Tries for a Pheonix, roll through, Blade Runner attempt from Jay, but Sasake hops on the back of Jay and pulls back the arm! White spins Sasake into a suplex. Blade Runner by White! 1......2.......3!!
Opening Riund: Eddie Guerrero vs Zack Sabre Jr Guerrero gets a clean break on the ropes and ZSJ wins some early technical exchanges. Guerrero wrestles into a cross-arm choke and ZSJ tries to counter it but Guerrero keeps it applied. They try to out-grapple each other but Guerrero maintains control. But that doesn’t last long as ZSJ does some crazy technical transition to reverse the hold on him. But Guerrero flips over and reverses it again. ZSJ gets into a corner and then gets a break on the ropes again. They get into a shoving contest and ZSJ grapples into a single leg crab while standing on Guerrero’s head. Guerrero fights out with a heel hold but ZSJ rolls to the ropes. ZSJ applies a double-arm hold and Guerrero tries to power out but ZSJ keeps countering him. ZSJ transitions to move painful-looking holds and gets a two-count off a pin.
Guerrero takes ZSJ down by his leg but ZSJ quickly counters into an armlock, but Guerrero quickly switches into a neck lock. ZSJ escapes easily so Guerrero tries to take him down amateur style. They have another great technical exchange and both ZSJ applies another neck lock that’s quickly countered by Guerrero into a leglock. ZSJ gets a ropebreak and the referee makes Guerrero back off as ZSJ spits on him.
They trade stiff kicks and Guerrero hits a brutal chop to the chest. ZSJ is stunned for a moment and starts to bully Guerrero but Guerrero fires back with more chops and ZSJ answers with uppercuts. They go back and forth once again. ZSJ takes him down and applies another leglock. Guerrero tries to resist but ZSJ traps his arm. both men trap each other’s leg and trade stiff slaps to the jaw. They get to their feet and continue fighting. ZSJ charges into a corner but Guerrero trop toeholds him into the turnbuckle. Guerrero goes for three Amigos. ZSJ counters into a painful-looking ankle lock-type move. Guerrero reaches the ropes for safety.
Guerrero hobbles around the ring as ZSJ kicks him hard in his now-weakened leg. ZSJ landing an arm twister that gets a huge reaction. Guerrero starts landing head-butts as he clasps his own arm and then lands some desperation chops and forearms. Big mistake. ZSJ catches and stomps on his arm. Guerrero tries again to make a comeback. ZSJ counters with a guillotine choke. Guerrero counters into a northern lights suplex. He goes for a frog splash. ZSJ counters into a triangle choke. Guerrero rushes to the ropes.
Sabre maintains control with stomps, kicks and facewashes. He escapes another leglock and mocks Guerrero some more, but Guerrero fires up and lands a dropkick. More strike exchanges and counter-wrestling. ZSJ lands a type of armbreaker. Guerrero goes from a backslide into another northern lights suplex and then into a cross armbreaker. ZSJ reaches the ropes immediately. Fisherman's suplex by Guerrero. ZSJ kicks out. Guerrero fires back with chops and goes for a Pélé kick. ZSJ counters into a single leg crab. Then into a sharpshooter. Followed by a double-arm-neck lock. Guerrero reaches the ropes. The crowd chants ‘fight forever’ to show their support. Both men trade stiff slaps some more and ZSJ hits the ropes but Guerrero lands a lariat. He charges for another one. ZSJ hits a big running uppercut. Guerrero fires back with a shoulder block. ZSK lands another uppercut and charges, but walks into a standing Spanish Fly. Guerrero goes for a dive. ZSJ dodges and goes for an uppercut. Guerrero counters into a backslide. ZSJ kicks out and eats a superkick but kicks out at two. Frog Splash connects. 1......2...... ZSJ kicks out again. Guerrero goes for Three Amigos. ZSJ counters with a dragon screw leg whip and lands a big soccer kick to Guerreros chest. That’s followed by a running Punt Kick! 1......2...... Guerrero kicks out. ZSJ can’t believe it.
They trade stiff slaps some more, first on their knees and then while standing. ZSJ charges but walks into a huge dropkick. Guerrero goes for a superplex but ZSJ catches him in a guillotine choke and then a kimura in the corner. Guerrero tries to make the ropes, but he's not close enough! Guerrero taps!!!
Kevin Kelly: "What a match! We are only in two matches deep in the tournament and already have what many will consider an upset! That match had Match of the Year potential and if your sleeping on Zack Sabre Jr in this tournament...... it may be time to open your eyes!" Opening Round: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Will Ospreay An intense lockup to open and standing reversals, and Ospreay bailed to the floor. Hiroshi hit a second-rope crossbody block. Ospreay hit a plancha to the floor. In the ring, Hiroshi hit a flying forearm, then a second-rope summersault for a nearfall. Ospreay hit a handspring-back-spin kick, then a springboard flying forearm for a nearfall. Ospreay set up for the Hidden Blade, but Hiroshi hit a dropkick on the knee.
Hiroshi hit a dragon screw leg whip and Ospreay sold the pain. Hiroshi applied a Texas Cloverleaf and sat down on Ospreay’s back for pressure, but Ospreay reached the ropes. Ospreay hit his hook kick to the face, and they were both down. They traded forearms and Ospreay hit some Kawada Kicks to the face, then a Helluva Kick in the corner. Ospreay nailed a top-rope flying forearm to the back of the neck. He set up for a Stormbreaker, but Ospreay transitions over and hit a Hidden Blade for the win to advance.
Kevin Kelly: "The critics say that Will Ospreay could be pound for pound, the best wrestler in the world. If he can win the J-Cup, he may make believers out of everyone! This tournament has the potential of making the winner a Superstar moving forward." Opening Round: Brian Pillman vs Eric Embry Pillman more than holds his own with Embry and Pillman loves trading chops with Embry and trying to lay them in just as hard.
Embry gets sent packing with Pillman on a roll, but Brian chases him down in the aisle. This turns out to have been a sucker move by Embry who pokes Pillman in the eye and runs him into the guardrail. Pillman stays in the fight, though.
Embry gets the control and is determined to get out of here, but can’t put Pillman away. Embry gets the figure four on and Pillman has to dig exceptionally deep. He gets free and the fight is on. Pillman is giving Embry all he can handle. When Embry tries to toss him out of the ring, Pillman skins the cat and surprises Embry with a springboard clothesline, then hits the flying crossbody. But Embry rolls through it, gets the tights, and wins the match.
Kevin Kelly: "You may say another upset! I can't agree.... Eric Embry is as tough as they come and even though he wins in a fashion we may not agree with, he finds a way to advance in the tournament. And at the end of the day, that's all that matters!" Opening Round: Brad Armstrong vs The Great Muta They trade wristlocks and Muta with a mule kick in the corner and he takes Brad down with a headlock. Brad fights up, but Muta hits him with an enzuigiri to the face and takes him down with a headscissors. Muta goes to an abdominal stretch and Brad reverses. Muta works the arm and Muta working the headscissors on the mat. Muta works the arm now. And then Armstrong switches to a headlock, lets Muta up, and then takes him down with another headlock again.
Muta stomps the knee to escape and Brad kneelifts him before going up with a flying bodypress for two. Armstrong goes Back up, and as Armstrong leaps off the turnbuckles, Mits blows mist into Armstrongs face! Armstrong rubs his eyes as Muta hits a spinkick to get the win.
Kevin Kelly: "Muta methodically disects Armstrong there and uses the mysterious mist. But the bottom line, Japan's top athlete advances in this tournament!" Opening Round: Chris Benoit vs Hiromu Takahashi Lock-up, Benoit shoves back Eddie. Takahashi hides in the ropes, another lock-up with Benoit shoving back Takahashi who dodges a chop, armdrags by Benoit. Takahashi rolls to the floor, kick to the ribs by Takahashi. Takahashi clubs down Benoit, back elbow by Takahashi. Benoit chops back before an eye poke and step on the face by Takahashi, reverse chinlock by Takahashi. Benoit escapes with a back suplex, Takahashi chops Benoit. Snapmare into a reverse chinlock by Takahashi, Benoit battles back to a vertical base. Shoulder block by Benoit, Takahashi lowbridges Benoit who crashes to the floor. Takahashi cracks Benoit with a steel chair, then a superplex.
Takahashi is up with blood spilling from his nose. He climbs high to the top turnbuckle. Benoit avoids The Frog Splash, right hands and chops by Benoit. Takahashi chops Benoit, Benoit chops back. Clothesline by Benoit, northern lights suplex for two. Benoit nails a superplex, two for Benoit. German suplexes by Benoit, Diving Headbutt by Benoit for two. Takahashi counters a German suplex for a roll-up, Takahashi gets caught in The Crippler Crossface....... Takahashi taps out.
Kevin Kelly: "As this tournament progresses, we have high fliers..... brawlers..... and now with that Benoit win, one of the best technicians to ever lace up a pair of boots!" Opening Round: Tiger Mask vs Eddie Gilbert Tiger Mask flips out of Gilbert's arm-bar and applies a dop toe-hold. Gilbert reverses out of that and works Tiger's knee. Tiger flips up and both guys bounce off the ropes. Tiger with a shoulderblock, Gilbert leapfrogs, and Tiger drop-kicks him out of the ring. Back in for a Knuckelock Challenge. Tiger gets a wristlock takedown and aplies a head-scissors on the mat. Gilbert slips out and picks up Tiger for a slam. He tries again, but this time Tiger rolls forward into a victory roll for a 2 count. Gilbert with a hip-toss and a flying head-scissors. Most of the match remains on the canvas as they counter back and forth. Gilbert lifts him up for a bell-to-bakc suplex and gets 2. Glbert misses a follow-up elbowdrop, so Tiger picks him up for a reverse piledriver. Gilbert whips him to the ropes for a flying chinlock/clothesline. Tiger is knocked out and Gilbert suplexes him back in from the apron. Tiger floats over on the suplex and hooks a reverse cradle to get the 3 count pin!
Kevin Kelly: "Fans, by now, you have to grasp the fact that this tournament is lining up to be one of the greatest of all times. And we are still in the first round. Tiger Mask will give people nightmares in this tournament. You can count on that." Opening Round: Shinsuke Nakamura vs Owen Hart Nakamura clowns him a little bit and then throws a knee, but Owen escapes the kick combo. Hart with armdrags to keep him off-base and the crowd is just losing their mind with happiness at getting to see this. Nakamura drops a knee for two and slides into an armbar, then puts Owen down with an enzuigiri for two. Owen suplexes him for two and a dropkick gets two. Nakamura bails and catches him with a kneedrop on the apron, and back in with a running knee in the corner for two. Owen does a nice head-fake to put Nakamura on the floor and he follows with a dive, and right back in with a flying bodypress for two. Nakamura blocks a suplex with a knee strike, but walks into a Michinoku driver. They slug it out with an epic forearm battle until the crowd is going crazy and Nakamura’s nose is busted open. Finally Hart goes down first and Nakamura puts him down with kicks, but Owen blocks the Bom A Ye with a lariat. Nakamura takes him down with a flying armbar takedown and then turns it into a triangle, but Owen stomps him in the face to escape. So now Owen takes him down with a Koji Klutch, but Nakamura teases a tap before rolling him over for two. Nakamura with another enzuigiri and the crowd wants “Fight forever”. Nakamura dodges the Huluva kick but misses the knee strike, and Owen gets the Blue Thunder bomb for a near fall. Nakamura bails and Owen follows with the corner DDT, but Nakamura blocks him with a kick in the face. Back in, Hart recovers with a superplex attempt, but Nakamura blocks him and then blocks an exploder with vicious elbows to the neck. And he follows with the knee strike for the pin.
Kevin Kelly: "What a tremendous match! And now the first round has concluded and Shinsuke makes his way into the next round tomorrow night! But we have one more match to go...... it's our Main Event of the evening and it's for the NWA World tag team titles!" Main Event: The Rock & Roll Express vs The Freebirds for the NWA World tag team titles Hayes stalls like always, slap from Gibson. Tag to Gordy. Gordy wants Morton. Morton comes in, Gordy is sent to the babyface corner. Gordy eats clotheslines and dropkicks from both. Lock-up, eye rake by Gordy. Back body drop and Gordy misses a shot with the strap and eats a clothesline. Gibson and Gordy are in, side headlock from Gibson. Gordy shoves off, drop-down but Gibson lands a sunset flip for two. Morton comes in, Gordy is getting frustrated now. Gordy is caught in a side headlock, takedown from Morton. Gibson and Morton swap places, reverse chin-lock from Gibson. Hayes is irate as The Rock “N” Roll Express continue to wear down Gordy.
Gordy backs Morton to the corner, right hands by Bam Bam Whip to the opposite buckle, Morton lands a figure four while Gibson does the same to Hayes. Hayes tags in and clubs Gibson, elbows to the head. Back elbow from Hayes who struts before a fist drop, Gibson beats both Freebirds around the ring, Gordy assumes control by dropping Gibson on the top rope. Gordy slams Gibson hard, knee-drop to the head. Two for Gordy. Gibson is sent to the floor before Hayes lands a stinging left-hand to Gibson. Morton is not happy, Gordy eats a kick to the face and in comes Morton.
Shots and eye-rake by Morton, O’Connor roll from Morton and Gordy shoves off Morton with Hayes landing that left to put down Morton. Reverse chin-lock from Gordy. Gordy decks Gibson while Hayes lands a double team. Hayes comes in and lands the left with three elbow drops for two, reverse chin-lock from Hayes. Morton eats a massive bulldog from Hayes for two, Gordy comes in with a big stomp. Snap-mare into the reverse chin-lock, Morton escapes the hold but Gordy tosses Morton to the floor. Hayes chokes Morton too. Scoop slam by Gordy in the ring, Gordy is climbing high. Morton pops up and yanks Gordy off the top rope. Hayes is in quick, Hayes is rammed off the buckle but manages an elbow to rock Morton.
Running bulldog is avoided by Morton, Gibson receives the hot-tag. Sleeper from Gibson, we have a brawl with Gordy sending Morton to the floor. Hayes clotheslines Gibson. Gordy kicks Morton in the head. Hayes lands the DDT on Gibson, Hayes struts around the ring. Hayes wants one more, Morton is on the top rope. Diving sunset flip to Hayes! 1.......2.......NO! Gordy legdrops Morton to break the pinfall. Gordy hits Morton with a piledriver. Hayes covets, 1......2.......3! And STILLLLLL........ NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS........ THE FREEBIRDS!
