As usual, Bill Apter welcomes the crowd to the show and runs down the lineup for tonights show and then we are off to business.
1. Strike Force vs Ivan & Nikita Koloff:
Martel and Santana put up a hell of an ariel assault on Ivan early, but that all changes when Nikita is tagged in and his massive power changes the momentum. It looks like Strike Force may be on the verge of victory, until Nikita rocks Santana with the Russian Sickle to get the victory.
Apter discuss the upcoming The Open tag tourny and talks about that win by the Russians gives them added momentum going into that tournament as the current #4 tag team in the world.
2. Trish Stratus vs Kay Lee Ray for the GFW Womens title:
These two met in the semi finals of the tournament a few months back as Kay Lee continues her quest to be the best female wrestler in the game. And she is all business as she works over Stratus back throughout the match but then out of nowhere, Trish hits the Chic Kick and gets the pinfall to become the new GFW Womens champion!
3. Jungle Jack Perry vs Ricky Starks w/Brooke Hogan:
As the introductions are being made, Brooke Hogan demands that she be simply called Brooke from here on, because she is embarrassed to have the name Hogan. Then Jungle attacks as he is looking for retribution on Brooke turning on him during the Sizzler tour. Jungle rocks Starks all match and around the 15 minute mark Brooke distracts Jungle long enough for Starks to hit Rashambo for the win.
4. Eddie Kingston vs Bruiser Brody:
This is exactly what you thought it might be......a damned fight! Once the bell rings these two badasses tear into each other and never look back. It isnt long before both men are bleeding profusely. Brody delivers his running knee drop but Kingston kicks out!!! Brody is shocked by this and it becomes his downfall as Kingston hits the Uranage suplex followed by Backfist to the Future to get the win.
5. The Rock n Roll Express vs FTR w/Dan Lambert for the GFW Tag titles:
Great tag team encounter here as these two teams wow the live audience with great tag team wrestling that nearly goes 30 minutes. But as the Express look for the double dropkick, Hardwood knocks Gibson outta the ring then FTR hit the Big Rig on Morton for the win.
Before our next match can start, Kenny Omega comes out and talks about how its an outrage that the GFW Nex-Gen isnt on this show.
How can GFW have a show without the greatest wrestler on the planet? Omega then says its because nobody wants to be embarrased by facing him and he issues an open challenge to anyone in the IWA to face him next month for his title.
6. Naomi vs Britt Baker for the IWA Womens world title:
Naomi uses her size advantage to keep Baker off balanced and she gives the world champion all she wants, but she makes the mistake of going for a high risk crossbody off the top rope and Baker rolls through it and applies the Lock Jaw to get the submission win. Britt doesnt release the hold and after a few seconds, Kris Statlander charges to the ring.
But once again......Britt escapes before Statlander can get a hand on her.
7. Curt Hennig w/Bobby Heenan vs Jeff Cobb w/Dan Lambert for the GFW Heavyweight title:
Cobb uses his size and power to rock Perfect in the early going then this turns into a technical wrestling match, with both guys trying to one up the other. It doesnt take long for Heenan and Lambert to get involved and then they start jaw jacking and pushing each other outside the ring. Cobb reaches over and grabs Heenan, giving Perfect the opening to lowblow Cobb. Hennig wants the Perfectplex......he sets up for it, but Cobb powers out and transitions into Tour of the Islands. Cobb covers and Lambert holds Perfects legs for added leverage as the ref counts three.
