Subject: WCW Monday Nitro #42 Fri Feb 25, 2022 1:33 pm
Location: Missouri Arena, Columbia Missouri
Jim Ross: "Hello wrestling fans! And welcome to WCW Nitro! We are just days away from the Clash of Champions this weekend at Madison Square Garden! And that's an event I'm very anxious to see, but before we can get there we have some business of our own to handle tonight! And we're gonna kick it off with a dandy!"
Match One: The Lucha Bros. vs The Young Bucks
There was a flurry of Bucks high spots early on as they got heat on The Lucha Bros. The Bucks heeled on the crowd while taunting them in between doing high spots. Matt did a series of Northern Lights on Fenix.
Matt threw Pentagon into the front row at ringside. They fought in the seats at ringside. Nick flipped into a shotgun dropkick on Fenix in the ring. Pentagon and Fenix fired up into a comeback. Fenix used a double cutter to drop the Bucks. Fenix went for a dive through the ropes and ricocheted into rows of ringside chairs. Meanwhile, Pentagon got a near fall in the ring.
There were more wild Buck spots. A double sharpshooter spot by the Bucks led to rope breaks. Nick hit a frog splash on Fenix. Pentagon hit a Canadian Destroyer on Matt as they all briefly went down. Fenix was soon back up to walk the ropes and leap into a foot stomp.
A Penta Driver on Matt got a close near fall. After another Penta Driver, cover, 1.....2.....Nick pulled the ref out of the ring. Nick ran through some high spots and wiped out the ref in the process. A Meltzer Driver on Pentagon. Cover..... but no ref!!!
Nick superkicked Pentagon and tried to unmasked him at another point. Fenix also grabs Matt and hit a Diamond Cutter, but there was no referee to count. Another official ran in to count to two.
A combination of a Penta Driver from Pentagon and a double foot stomp by Fenix was the beginning of the end. Fenix leapt into a somersault dive on Nick. Pentagon then pinned Matt to retain the titles.
Jim Ross: "This rivalry between the Bucks and Lucha Brothers has been amazing. The Bucks may be the new champions right now if it wasn't for the ref being able to not make the count. But Bygawd.....that's what they get for pulling him out of the ring in the first place!"
*** COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
Match Two: Ted DiBiase vs Cactus Jack
Cactus attacks before the bell and gets some lucky shots in early. Dibiase gets a headlock takedown, but gets rolled onto his own shoulders for a cover attempt. Dibiase keeps the headlock and rolls back into a dominant position. Shoulder tackle by Dibiase, who goes back to the headlock. Cactus reverses into a wrist lock. Cactus clubs the arm and stretches. Cactus pulls the hair for a wrist lock, but the referee caught it and the hold is broken. Front headlock by Cactus. Dibiase struggles to reverse into an armlock, but Cactus retains the hold. They hit the floor and Cactus breaks to kick the head. Hard Irish whip by Cactus, but he runs into Dibiases boot. As the action goes on we once again see Andrade watching the match.......
Dibiase hits an elbow to the head, but Cactus is still fighting back with desperate shots. Elbow smash to the jaw by Dibiase and a body slam. Cover by Dibiase gets 2. Dibiase hits a drop-kick, but misses a second attempt. Shoulder tackle by Cactus. Dibiase leap frogs and gets some elbow shots. He whips Cactus into the ropes and hits the powerslam on Cactus to get the win.
Gene Okerlund: "OHHHH MY!!! After your debut victory last week, you informed us that you came to WCW looking for only the best competition. You keep getting victories like that one and you will find yourself in the rankings in no time. We know you didn't see it, but once again Andrade was watching the monitor backstage. What's the situation between you two?"
Ted DiBiase: "I honestly couldn't tell you Gene.....I've never met the man! But Ive heard great things about his wrestling ability. So Andrade.... if it's a match your looking for.....just put your name on the dotted line brother..... Ted DiBiase isn't a hard man to find!"
***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
Match Three: Donovan Dijak vs Killer Kross w/Scarlett
The bell rings, and they circle the ring. They go face-to-face in the ring, and Kross looks intense. They lock up and tussle around the ring, jockeying for position before releasing. They lock up again, and Dijak powers him to the corner. Dijak gives a clean break, but Kross comes back with a kick and applies a front facelock. Dijak quickly powers him to the corner, but Kross won’t release the hold. Dijak tries again, but Kross keeps it applied. Dijak tries to punch out before powering Kross up for Feast Your Eyes. Kross blocks it and tries for a Doomsday Saito. Dijak fights it and viciously forearms him out of the ring.
Dijak follows him out of the ring, but Kross attacks him and goes for a punch. Kross hits the barricade when Dijak moves. Dijak kicks him down and puts him in the ring. Dijak charges him in the corner, but Kross boots him back and kicks him in the head. Kross hits a vicious DDT.
Dijak fights up and punches him, but Kross immediately floors him with a Doomsday Saito! Kross goes for a submission, but Dijak whips him off. Dijak lifts him and knocks him back. Dijak fights back and forearms him in the face a few times. Dijak kicks and elbows him before hitting a release suplex. Dijak floors him with a sit-out chokeslam for a near fall. Kross rolls out of the ring to recover, but Dijak catches him with a summersault senton!
Dijak gets him to his feet, but Kross quickly sends him head-first into the steel steps. Kross quickly pushes his head down behind the steel steps before kicking them into Dijaks head! Dijak is unconscious!!
The referee makes Kross get in the ring and goes for a count-out, but Kross gets out of the ring and powers the unconscious Dijak into the ring. Kross lays him down on the canvas, and Dijak starts to come to. Kross powers his arms down and drills him with some forearms to the face. Kross continually forearms Dijak in the face. The referee wants to end it, but Dijak weakly asks to continue. Kross viciously forearms Dijak in the face. Kross then applies the Kross Jacket and takes Dijak down. The referee ends the match! Scarlett gets in the ring attending to her man as Kross takes the housemic.......
Killer Kross: "STING!!! Last week you challenged me to a rematch. You should be careful what you ask for. You want another match? You and me.....next week!! TIK TOK!!!"
***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
Gene Okerlund: "Alright wrestling fans.....the new IWA Top 10 rankings are out! And if you would, help me welcome my guest at this time..... she is the #1 contender to the IWA Womens World title and the reigning WCW Womens champion... TONI STORM!!!
Storm makes her way to ringside along with Paige!
Gene Okerlund: "Paige, we know you couldn't be prouder of Toni for becoming the #1 contender, but while we have you out here, it was just announced that next week.... at Clash of the Champions... Toni Storm will defend the WCW Womens title against the #7 contender to the womens world title.... Shayna Bazsler!"
Paige: "I'm very excited with what she's accomplished. But we are just getting started. I told the world that I plan on making the WCW Womens roster the very best possible....and it's matches like this one that will prove me right. Toni..... Just remember what I told you about Bazsler..... she's a bad woman.... with a bad attitude! Not afraid to mix it up! She will definitely be your hardest challenge to date!"
Toni Storm: "And I'm ready for that challenge! Like Paige said, we are just getting started, but I'm ready for any and all challengers! And with all these great people behind us, its all the determination I need! Be ready Shayna..... The Perfect Storm is coming!"
***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
As we come back from break we see The Freebirds, Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy, sitting in their dressing room doing shots of Jack Daniels!
Then we hear a knock on the door and in walks WCW General Manager, Eric Bischoff......
Eric Bischoff: "You two may want to go a little easy on the sauce there!"
Michael Hayes: "Who the Hell do you think you are? You don't come barging into our locker room telling us what to do!"
Terry Gordy: "Just say the word Michael... and I will throw his ass outta here!"
Eric Bischoff: "You don't understand.... here, let me try this again. I was saying you may want to save yourselves some. Because next week, you two will be facing Black Wallstreet for the IWA World tag team titles!"
Michael Hayes: "WELL ITS ABOUT DAMNED TIME YOU DID SOMETHING RIGHT BISCHOFF! NOW GET YOUR ASS OUTTA HERE.... WE HAVE CELEBRATING TO DO!"
Match Four: "Iceman" King Parsons vs Arman Hussein
As the match starts, Hussein demands to do his "camel walk"; where he struts and jumps along each side of the ring. While this is happening we see The Freebirds once again in the back......
Michael Hayes: "WHAT??? WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING HERE AGAIN?? C'MON BAM BAM.....LETS SHOW THIS BOY WHAT BAD STREETS ALL ABOUT!"
As Hussein stalls, Iceman has had enough. He pounds away on Hussein, backdrops him and flattens him with a drop-kick. Iceman covers to score the quick 3 count victory and the fans go nuts! As Iceman celebrated his victory The Freebirds storm the ring and attack Parsons once again. Iceman puts up a good fight to start, but the numbers game us too much as The Birds begin to put a thumping on Iceman. Then the crowd goes nuts as a man charges the ring......
Jim Ross: "Wait just a minute.....is that......IT IS......ITS THE DOG!!!"
JYD storms the ring and lights Hayes up with some "soup bones" that sends Hayes reeling. Gordy charges JYD, only to be met with a big clothesline and a thunderous headbutt that sends Gordy out of the ring! JYD checks on Iceman as the Birds are furious at ringside.
***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
Match Five: Lita, Mickie James & Trish Stratus vs The IInspiration
Britt Baker started with Trish with Britt getting an elbow to the head to take control. Peyton Royce tagged in with a forearm on Trish followed by a kick to the back. Royce with a headscissors into the ropes, Billie Kay with a knee and a neckbreaker. Kay with a kick to the head. Trish broke free and Lita tagged in with a body slam followed by double knees. Lita with a leg whip takedown. Trish and Lita did some quick moves leading to Lita hitting a senton splash on Kay for two. Britt back in. Lita with a headscissors out of the ring and then a twisting splash over the top onto Baker on the floor. Mickie jumped off the top to take out Peyton and Billie on the floor. Baker was back in the ring to stop Lita with a spinebuster.
The IInspiration trio was in control with Baker grounding Mickie with a chinlock. Baker hit a spinning slam followed by a leg scissors around the waist. Mickie broke free. Lita tagged in against Peyton and Lita hit a few shoulder tackles. Lita with a body slam. Peyton hit a neckbreaker on Lita then Baker was back in. Lita hit her with shoulder tackles and a flatliner. Lita with a double knee attack against the turnbuckle. Lita went up top and hit the moonsault on Baker, 1.......2...... because Bakers partners saved her. Mickie and Trish threw Peyton and Kay out of the ring. Kay was back in. Lita avoided an elbow and Mickie tagged in with two clotheslines followed by a dropkick. Mickie whipped Kay into Peyton, a forearm and a running kick into a splash at the same time. Mickie with a chic kick on Kay as the fans chanted “this is awesome” for them. Mickie with a neckbreaker. Mickie to the turnbuckle, she was distracted by action on the floor and Kay did an armdrag to pull her off the ropes. While this happened, Lita jumped onto Baker. She has Britt pinned but the ref doesn't see it. Kay hooked the arms of Mickie and then slammed her back first into the mat with a crucifix slam. The IInspiration win!
Lita questions the ref, who explains to her he didn't see her pin attempt! Eric Bischoff makes his way out.......
Eric Bischoff: "As we have heard many times in professional wrestling..... there's no instant replay, and the referees decision is final. So yes, The IInspiration are victorious tonight. But that's not why im out here. I'm here to announce that in two weeks....on March 14th.... Britt Baker will defend the IWA Womens World title against.... LITA!!!!"
Britt hears Bischoffs announcement and throws a fit as Peyton and Kay try to calm her down heading into break.
***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
Adam Cole: "Who's ready for story time with Adam Cole..... BAY BAY!!! Last week I was the recipient of nothing less than a street mugging! Here I am... the WCW Heavyweight champion.... and I get choked out on National TV by some street thug named Samoa Joe! I deman that their be consequences and reprocussions taken on Joe! Normally I would do it myself, but I'm just now getting my voice back after being nearly choked to death. See.... that's how Joe works... jumping someone from behind.... applying illegal choke holds. Because he knows better than to come out here and face me face to face!"
As Cole continues on, Samoa Joe comes from behind Cole and enters the ring and once again locks Cole in the Coquina Clutch as the fans go nuts! Cole once again passes out from the hold. Joe gets up and grabs the WCW Heavyweight title. He looks at it for a few seconds then drops it on Coles chest as he leaves the ring!
***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***
We come back from break and see Adam Cole walking backstage....
Adam Cole: "BUCKS!!! BUCKS!! There you are..... where the hell was you guys??"
Matt Jackson: "WHERE WAS WE??? WHERE WAS YOU EARLIER?? WE JUST GOT ROBBED OUT OF WINNING THE WCW TAG TITLES!!"
Adam Cole: "GET THAT CAMERA OFF US!! Bucks.... we need to regroup!! Come on... let's go figure this out!"
Match Six: Rob Van Dam vs DJ Peterson
RVD in a side headlock off the ropes runs into a shoulder block, a leapfrog, a backflip, spin flip and RVD has a headlock and takes him down. RVD ducks a clothesline and with amazing agility balanced himself on the top rope and hit a crossbody getting him a two. Peterson takes RVD to the corner then begins to stomp. A reverse elbow into RVD. Another side headlock by Peterson. A spinning heel kick off the ropes by RVD. Peterson hits head first to the buckle with his own momentum.
A thrust kick and a splash by RVD followed by his split-leg moonsault. RVD climbs the turnbuckles...... 5 STAR SPLASH!!! 1....2....3!! As the replay is shown, Gene Okerlund joins RVD at ringside....
Gene Okerlund: "OHHHH MY!!! Rob Van Dam, you my friend, certainly have the wrestling a buzz after your recent debut here in WCW! But one Man who isn't so thrilled about you being here is MJF! And he has basically said there's no X Division title match for you until you are ranked! Your thoughts Sir!"
RVD: "It's whatever, ya know? Isn't that the way its supposed to work anyway? Seems to me that MJF us a little on edge lately! Maybe he's orried about having to face me. I get it! But it's cool. Hey, MJF.....maybe you should call me up. I have some nice stuff that would calm your nerves! But then again, it's easy to be nervous when ya know that you have a future date with Mr. Monday Night...... ROB.......VAN.... DAM!!!"
Gene Okerlund: "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Rob Van Dam has his sights set in becoming the IWA X Division champion and says he has no problem working his way up the rankings! Fans, we are about out of time. But don't you forget next week's epic Main Event, as the IWA World title is on the line as Ric Flair defends against Hulk Hogan. With special guest referee..... "STONE COLD" STEVE AUSTIN!!!"

like that the Sting/Kross Feud is continuing.I like long feuds.

Hogan/Flair is gonna be great.Wonder if Austin can just be a referee in this match.
