Announcer Gus Johnson welcomes everyone to the show. He tells the audience that we will see the other 2 first round matches of the Womens tournament. Plus in the Main Event, Baron Corbin vs Daisuke Sekimoto in a #1 contenders match. Also he tells Rush was supposed to take on Jimmy Snuka but due to a recent attack on Jimmy which left him with a knee injury, he wont be here. Jack Tunney will have to find a last second replacement for Rush.
Match 1: Meiko Satomura vs Amanda Rodriguez
Gus apologizes for his comments last show. He says he realizes he must not play favorites but does point out how Amanda has now twice attacked Rebel without provocation. This is a hard fought match. Both women rather strike than wrestle. Meiko rips off a few stiff kicks to the chest of Amanda. Rodriguez catches Meiko with a Roaring Elbow and a Bicycle Kick for a near fall. Satomura later hits a Codebreaker on Amanda. She goes for Scorpio Rising but Amanda had it scouted and countered into a roll up with a handful of tights the ref didn't see. She gets the 3 count.
Winner: Amanda Rodriguez
(After the match Rodriguez is attacked by Rebel. Rebel is pounding down on her before Rodriguez shoves her off and scoots under the bottom rope. Gus says Rebel just showed Rodriguez some Southern Hospitality.)

Ali hits a Springboard Frog Splash for 2. Now they have Bill in the ring. Daivari hits a Brainbuster Then Ali goes to the apron. And they hit Thunderbolt (Ali Springboard Legdrop and Daivari Running Shooting Star Simultaneously.) 1.. 2.. 3! Gus is really impressed with this team. Khosrow Daivari says to the camera. That was just the first on many beatings they will dish out here in NextGen.
Winners: Fist of Islam

General Manager Jack Tunney comes out he apologizes to the crowd about Jimmy Snuka not being there tonight. He tried to find a last minute replacement. He hopes the fans aren't too disappointed with who he got. Then he lets us know Kyle O'Reilly will be here next show in a guest appearance. Then out walks Taya Valkyrie She says it'd ridiculous that she needs to go through a tournament of nobodies to get to the Women's title match. Tunney responds that she doesn't even know who her opponent is yet. How can she dismiss her like that. She says no matter who it is they can't beat her. In fact she's so confident that if she loses she will leave Next Generation. Jack says "You're on! If you lose you're gone. Now get to the ring your match is next."
Taya puts her up to his face and makes a "pfft" sound and struts to the ring.

Match 3: Taya Valkyrie vs ????
Gus says Taya's mouth always gets her in trouble. Let's see if she backs up the bold talk. Out comes....
Taya is a bit taken back. Evie, the New Zealand Superstar, who had a short stint in Battle Queens last year is now here in NextGen. Taya charges her at the bell but Evie felt her coming and moves as Taya crashes into the buckle. She School girls Taya! 1.. 2..
NOOO!!!! Taya kicks out. Small Package by Evie.. Another 2 count! Evie tries for a Backslide but Taya rolls thru and kicks Evie right in the face! Evie is down with her had over her mouth as Taya smiles at the crowd. She begins to start pounding away on her. She whips her into the buckle and follows with a Corner Splash. Taya hits a Sitout Powerbomb for a near fall. She goes up top for a Double foot Stomp. But as she descends Evie sticks her leg straight up and catches Taya in the jaw! She has her... TTYL (Fireman's carry dropped into a shoot kick)
Winner: Evie
(Gus is laughing then starts to sing the "Nah Nah Nah" song which he ends with his signature HA-HA!

New NextGen correspondent, Chopra Priyanka interviews the NextGen Champion, Will Ospreay. She asks him if he cares one way or the other who wins tonight's #1 Contender Match. He responds by saying he doesn't even know who is in the match. He doesn't sweat who they put in front of him because he will always come out on top... by ANY MEANS NECESSARY!

Match 4: Rush vs ????
Rush comes out feeling very cocky and almost looking annoyed. he gets on the mic and says the truth is that Snuka was simply afraid to come here and face El Ingobernable. He wanted him here so he could have whipped his ass. But instead he has to deal with some last second jobber, Tunney found. He has plans tonight so get this bum out here. Then out walks....
- ???:
The look on Rush' face is priceless. He is looking around maybe for an exit as the World Heavyweight Champion makes a beeline towards the ring. Steen is always angry but right now he is a miserable, violent SOB. As soon as he enters Rush jumps on him. Firing rabit punches on him he looks to whip him to the ropes but its reversed and Steen nails a Lariat that turns Rush inside out. Steen sends him over the top rope to the floor. He goes out after him and gives him a Suplex out there. He drags him back in. Rush lands a right hand then a boot to the gut followed by a knee lift. Rush tries to get Kevin on his shoulders but Steen counters into a Rear Mat Slam. He fires Rush into the corner. He stomps him a few times then hits a Cannonball. He drags him out and covers... 1.. 2..
No. Steen actually smiles for the first time. He pulls Rush up... Pop-up Powerbomb! 1.. 2.. NOOO! Steen pulls him up and says "Oh no... You wanted to kick out, right?" He pulls him up again... Package Piledriver! 1.. 2.. 3!
Winner: Kevin Steen
(Steen grabs a mic and says to a laid out Rush, "Congrats your the first stop on the 'Drop you on your F*CKIN Head Tour!'")

We get a video package for Dragon Azteca Jr. He says he's been lucky to get the opportunities he has so far. But he knows luck only goes so far. Now it's time to make the most of them.

Main Event: Baron Corbin vs Daisuke Sekimoto - #1 Contender Match
The rest of the Future are not here tonight as they were at an XWA Show. Baron has been calling for a rematch with Ospreay since he lost to him in the finals. It seems Ospreay has had little to no interest in that. Or maybe its just that he doesn't care. Either way Corbin is focused tonight and early on is taking the fight to the Japanese upstart. Corbin is using his larger frame to really pound down on the powerful but diminutive Sekimoto.
Corbin delivers a Press Slam on Sekimoto. He hits the ropes and lands a big Legdrop. He covers 1.. 2.. No. He waits then hits the ropes for a Clothesline but Daisuke ducks it and hits a Release German Suplex. He goes behind him and delivers another as the crowd gets fired up. Gus says don't look now but it looks like Daisuke is taking Corbin to Suplex City, Germany edition. He goes for a third but Baron elbows free. He looks to give him a vertical but its blocked and Sekimoto Suplexes him over! He floats over into a cover. 1.. 2.. No..
Out walking towards the ring is Will Ospreay. In the ring Sekimoto goes for his signature Lariat but runs into a big boot from Corbin. Corbin tries to get End of Days but Sekimoto fights free. He gets his legs and puts him in the Boston Crab! Corbin is flailing but this is where his great height helps him as he is able to stretch and grab the ropes. Sekimoto looks for the Argentine Backbreaker but this time its Corbin who fights free and hits a Reverse DDT! Corbin signals for End Of Days. Then Ospreay stands on the apron facing the hard camera and is raising his title belt. Corbin sees this and spins him around. He takes a wild swing but Ospreay jumps off the apron. Corbin points at him menacingly. Then when he turns he is hit with a Sekimoto Lariat! 1.. 2.. 3!
Winner: Daisuke Sekimoto
Gus Johnson says Baron again fails to get his shot. He wonders aloud if this is all a plan by Ospreay to keep The Future away from his title. Regardless A NextGen Title shot is definitely NOT in his immediate future. Gus thanks everyone for watching. Then signs off. | |
