(Two very exciting teams but the edge in experience is a large one for the SSW entry. But what the Young Kings lack in experience they make up for in exuberance and really hang with the Wolves in the early going but King is caught with a roundhouse kick after missing a springboard dive. Then a double Flapjack by the Wolves and they have him down. The fans are chanting "XWA" to try to get Kenny back in this but he is taking quite a lot of punishment. Including an ankle lock by Richards.
King hits a spinning mule kick on Edwards then a Jawbreaker on Davey and dives across the ring to tag in a fresh D.Young. The Baltimore crowd is on their feet as Young hits a Fallaway Slam om Richards then a Sidewalk Slam on Eddie. He covers for two. Young calls King to get ready as He lifts Edwards on his shoulders. King is looking for the Springboard Flying Cutter. But Davey Superkicks Young. Then Kenny is clotheslined by Eddie and he flies off the apron into the steel railing. The Wolves have Darren and hit The Force of Nature! 1.. 2.. 3!)

Match 2: Matt Taven vs Corey Graves
(Graves is out here without any of his Bullet Club brethren. Taven is happy to see that and goes right after the Sniper early. Taven escapes a Neckbreaker attempt and hits a Back Suplex. He goes to the 2nd rope and nails a Legdrop. 1.. 2.. No! Taven Scoop Slams graves and goes to the 2nd rope again. This time he comes off with a Flying Knee Drop but Graves rolls out the way.
Now Corey focuses on the knee of Matt. He drapes the leg over the bottom rope and drops down butt first on it further torquing on that knee. He applies a Single Leg crab. Taven is about to tap but hen gives it all he has and gets himself to the ropes. Fans give Taven some light applause for the effort. Graves grabs the leg again but is met with an open hand strike from Taven. Then another. Now Matt is hitting closed punches that are rocking Graves. He hits the ropes but Corey executes a basement Dropkick right to the injured knee. He quickly locks in Lucky 13. Matt is trying to hold out as long as possible. But finally he has no choice and taps.)

Match 3: Finn Balor vs "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson w/Adam Cole & Lauren
(After the introductions. Lauren gets in Balor's face talking trash. He is about to slap her when Adam steps up. The ref is ordering them out the ring. As they back off Karl attacks from behind. Anderson is just releasing a bucket full of punches and stomps. The crowd is booing despite Bullet Club being members of XWA. Byron mentions the fact that if Balor wins he gets Adam Cole for the World Junior Heavyweight title on Night 2. Neckbreaker by Anderson who now has a big smile on his face. Lauren is gleefully clapping. Karl now goes for the Gun Stun but Balor shoves him off to the ropes then dropkicks him in the back of the head sending him over the top and to the floor.
Cole comes over to make sure Anderson is ok. But Finn seizes this opportunity and hits the Suicide Somersault Senton over the ropes and onto both Cole and Anderson. Balor sends Karl into the railing. Then rolls him back in as he looks to re-enter Cole grabs at his foot and trips him up. The referee saw this and immediately tosses Cole and Lauren from ringside as the crowd cheers. Adam and Lauren are livid but they have no choice. Tammy is calling the referees bias. And says there needs to be an investigation.
Now its one on one. And Balor has a look of confidence. They go to the center of the ring yelling at one another then just start throwing flurries of punches. Karl tries a Lariat but Balor ducks it and connects on a Pele Kick. He quickly hits a Lifting Inverted DDT! 1.. 2.. No! Double Knee Gutbuster! Finn covers once more. 1.. 2..
NOOOO! Karl kicks out again! Balor goes up top as Aderson is still on one knee. He is looking for the Double Foot Stomp.... But Anderson counters ito a Gun Stun on an airborne Balor. The crowd pops for the move. Anderson slowly makes the cover. 1.. 2..
NOOOO!!!!! Balor kicks out a millisecond before 3!!!! Karl takes a Deep breath. Lifts Finn up and hits the TKO! Anderson readies himself and charges for the Rocket Kick but Balor leaps and comes down on him with the Coup De Grace! The crowd pops for that! He has Anderson... Bloody Sunday!!! 1... 2... 3!!!!!)

(Balor is exhausted but overjoyed. He points up at the War of the Worlds sign. Then makes the belt motion around his waist.)
Match 4: Taz vs Mil Muertes w/Catrina
(Taz takes the mic and says he came here for a fight .... So what do you say you big son of a bitch? Let's make it anything goes! Catrina starts to respond but Taz attacks Mil Muertes! Taz takes control with heavy right hands but Muertes fights back only to get caught in a big German suplex! Muertes rolls outside and Taz tries to jump off the apron onto him but Muertes catches him in a bear hug and then rams him back-first into the ring post! Taz reverses a whip and sends Mil into the railing, but Mil then backdrops him over the railing into the front row! Mil follows him into the crowd and this is just a wild brawl .... Tax clears the fans out of a spot in the crowd and then hits an exploder suplex onto the row of chairs! They fight back to the ring and Mil rocks Taz with a straight right hand, then drops him on his head with a DDT for a 2 count .... Mil powerbombs Taz to the mat but only gets a 2 count .... Mil goes under the ring and pulls out a table and the fans love it! He sets the table up but Taz explodes with the angry mans clothesline! He sets the table up in the corner and hits an exploder tazplex driving Mil through the table!!!! 1 ... 2 ... Nooooo! Taz sets Mil on the top rope and goes for a belly to belly suplex but Mil fights out with right hands .... Taz slumps to the apron, but then climbs back up and tries it again .... This time rapid fire headbutts from Muertes! Taz falls again, but he keeps coming and he's back up top now .... Taz slaps on the Taz-mission on Muertes with both men on the top rope!!!! Muertes is getting choked out and in a move of desperation he throws himself off the top rope sending both men crashing through a table on the floor below!!!! HOLY SHIT!!!! These guys just fell 15 feet through a table with Mil Muertes crashing down on top of Taz! Both guys are down .... Catrina raises the stone beckoning Muertes to his feet, and after a long moment he begins to stir .... Taz took the brunt of that fall and isn't moving .... He's in bad shape, but at Catrina's orders, Muertes rolls his lifeless body back into the ring .... Muertes is holding his right arm but manages to slowly make the cover for the 1 ... 2 ... 3! )

(EMT's come out to check on Taz, who is still down .... They bring out the stretcher but Taz refuses to get on it and he walks out under his own power but it is clear he is hurt badly. Tammy comments how she's never seen anyone take the fight to Mil like that before.)
Match 5: The Tongan Mob Bosses (Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga & Tanga Roa) vs The SHIELD - UWF World 6-Man Tag Team Championship
(The 3rd appearance of the Bullet Club tonight. The SHIELD enter through the crowd. There are some cheers and some boos. But mostly cheers for the champs. Saxton mentions that they remember the sneak attack on the last XWA TV and keep a close eye on the challengers here. The match begins with Rollins vs Tama. Tama kas a very unusual offense which keeps opponents off Balance ad that is working here to start. he hes Seth down in a waistlock hold and tries to man handle him on the mat but Rollins gets a nice escape and they both rise. tag made to Tanga Roa and Dean Ambrose respectively. They also lock up but neither of these two are scientific guys and it turns to punches being traded. Tanga is the larger man and begins to pound down on Dean. Tag made to Fale who scoop slams Dean and drops an elbow.
Fale sends Dean into the corner and hits a corner splash. But Dean out of nowhere pokes the eye of Fale and tags in Roman Reigns. The fans are buzzing as the 2 huge men come center ring. They start trading blows but it looks at first like Fale is getting the better of the exchange but Roman backpeddles to the ropes and connects on a Superman Punch that sends Fale falling into his own corner as the crowd cheers. Fale tags back in Roa.
the match continues to be back and forth with each team getting some shine on offense. Roa hits a Powerslam on Dean for a two count. Seth catches Fale with a Superkick and covers but Tama breaks it up. Later with all 6 men engaged. Fale hits Reigns with the Grenade. But Roman instinctively rolls to the apron. Dean catches Roa with Dirty Deeds but gets the Headshrinker DDT from Tama! But Tama is caught with the Curb Stomp from Seth! 1.. 2..
Fale pulls him off by the hair. He lands a two vicious headbutts then sets him up for the Bad Luck Fall. But from nowhere Roman Reigns is back and spears Fale! He covers as his teammates hold the others back. 1.. 2.. 3!)

(After the match as the Shield do their 3 way fist bump pose then the lights go out. When they come back on in the ring is...
Byron exclaims, The New Latino Nightmare???!!! The Shield are surprised and outside the ring is Carlos Colon who yells something in Spanish and the NLN attack. They are pounding on the tired champions at first but soon they start to fire back and drive the Trio from CWX out the ring. Both teams are angry and now XWA security has come out to make sure the invaders leave the ring area. We can hear Carlos yelling "Su pesadilla acaba de comenzar". Byron lets fans know that translates to "Your Nightmare has just begun".)
Intermission: During intermission we see GM Paul Heyman walking up to Raven who is sitting by himself in a dark room. Raven wants to know why he needed to be here if he wasn't wrestling. Heyman answers because you're paid to be here. Then he adds he was left off the War of the Worlds cards for a reason. He was Heyman's insurance policy. Adam Cole is out the Main Event on Night 2. So Raven will take his place. Raven seems disinterested and says he cares nothing for this silly pissing contest with he and SSW. Heyman says he doesn't care. He's part of this roster and he will be in the match and leaves. After he's gone Raven says Heyman is a fool like all the others. He can not be ordered. He can't be controlled. He flies his own path now. Quote the Raven... Nevermore.
We then switch to Cameron who is trying to get a word with a furious "Magnum" Adam Cole. Adam begins ranting on this gnat from SSW that wont go away. Well He's had enough. At When Worlds Collide he does what he should have done at Wrestlemania. That's not just win. But destroy Huckleberry Finn Balor once and for all. Then Balor barges in. He says talk is cheap. He has 24 more hours with that belt. Then the Demon will rise! See you in Miami.
Match 6: The Dirty Heels vs The Young Bucks - SSW Tag Team Championship
(The fans are totally behind the newest additions to the XWA roster. We get a "Young Bucks" chant. The Bucks seem about as pumped as they have been in months. Match starts with the Bucks using their speed to frustrate the champs at every turn. The crowd is really hot for this and the YB are feeding off it. Nick gives Aries a Reverse Atomic Drop. The he catches Roode In a Handstand Headscissorso the apron and Matt runs in and dropkicks the face of Roode that sends him to the floor. The ref is getting Matt back out while that is happening Aries kicks Nick low out of view of the ref.
The crowd is booing as Aries hits a Backdrop Suplex and tags in Bobby Roode. The Dirty Heels are really going to town on Nick now. Roode Awakening from Bobby. He covers for 2. Aries is in and applies the Fish hook of Doom. They Continue to abuse Nick. Then Aries goes for the Springboard Moonsault but Nick extends his foot right into the face of Aries. Nick struggles to his feet. Roode looks to run in and grab him but eats a Superkick! Nick Falls to the mat after. Aries is getting up but Matt runs in and Superkicks Aries! Matt runs back to the corner as Nick crawls over and makes the tag!
Matt is in and dropkicks Roode thru the ropes. Then a Leg lariat to Aries. Springboard Swanton dive. 1.. 2.. No! He looks for his brother but he is still sown and a little groggy on the apron. He pulls up Aries and delivers a Rope Hung DDT! He covers for another 2. Goes to hit the ropes but is tripped up by Roode. Aries rolls over and tags him. in. Roode sends Matt into the ropes and hits the Spinebuster! 1.. 2..
NOOO!!! Nick dives in to break up the pin attempt. Aries is in and starts landing roundhouses to Nick. He swings wildly but Nick ducks and backdrops Aries to the floor. They catch Roode with a Double Superkck! They set him up for More Bang For Your Buck! But When Matt goes for the Moonsault He is shoved off the ropes and to the floor by Aries. Aries Then clotheslines Nick. He sends him to the corner and hits the IED. Brainbuster by Aries. He doesn't cover. He goes up for a 450 Splash. But Nick gets his knees up! Matt is on the Apron. Nick scoops up Aries... Meltzer Driver!!!! 1.. 2.. 3!!!!!)

(The crowd is jubilant with this victory. As is Byron. Even Tammy seems pleased. Aries and Roode can't believe it. The crowd is chanting "XWA" as the Bucks take it all in.)
Match 7: Kazuchika Okada vs Jay Lethal - XWA Championship
(Saxton asks if Lethal can do what the Bucks just did and steal away a title from the rival company? Well early on it looks good as Jay counters a Suplex attempt and hits a Legdrop bulldog. Jay is trying to keep the pace up. He hits a Basement dropkick to Okada then a rapid fire series of Elbow Drops. He slams the XWA champ to the mat and hits a Slingshot Legdrop for a 2 count the goes right into a Chinlock. Okada fights up ad back Suplexes Jay. He then hits a Basement dropkick of his own. Heavy Rai conects. he covers for 2. Okada sets him up for the Superplex but Lethal lands a series of elbows and Okada falls backwards to the mat. Jay is up... Flying Elbow from the top! 1.. 2..
NO! Okada kicks out! Jay looks for a Tombstone Pledriver but Okada reverses it and nails Lethal! He poses then goes for the Rainmaker. But Jay counters that into a Neckbreaker! Jay sees his opening he goes for Lethal Injection...
But gets Dropkicked right in the back of the head! Okada quickly gets him up. Rainmaker connects! 1.. 2.. 3!)

Match 8: War Machine vs reDRagon - UWF World Tag Team Championship & XWA Tag Team Champioship
(War Machine get a mixed reaction from the fans. Some like them from their time in XWA. While some dislike them for leaving. None of that matters to the challengers. They're not there for applause. They want the World tag Team straps and their fighting like it as they completely manhandle the champs from the onset. However reDRagon are a seasoned team and do their best to ride out the initial onslaught. When Hanson goes for his Spinning heel kick he's caught by Bobby who drops him into a backbreaker. The champs go on offense a while, hitting some of their signature double team Spots. O'Reilly goes for the Pendulum Lariat but eats that same Spinning Heel kick Hanson missed earlier. He tags in Rowe who is tossing the champs around the ring. He hits a choke slam on Kyle and covers for 2.
He hits the ropes but is given a drop toe hold by Fish and Rowe lands neck first across the top rope. Hanson is complaining about Fish being in illegally but the damage is done Kyle hits Ray with the Axe and Smash then tags in Bobby who nails the Space Rolling Elbow (Cartwheel back elbow to a cornered opponent). He follows with the Double Jump Moonsault! 1.. 2..
Noooo!! He tags in Kyle who locks in ARMageddon (Cross armbreaker). The crowd is chanting "Tap" but Rowe shows amazing fortitude and powers up and slams Kyle down to the mat breaking the hold. Rowe rolls over and tags in Hanson. He catches Kyle with a Lariat. He covers but Bobby breaks that up. Now all 4 men are in the ring. Hanson Powerbombs Fish to the mat then he and Rowe grab Kyle for Fallout but Bobby Hits a Jumping Enzuguiri on Hanson sending him to the floor. Kyle floats behind Rowe and hits the Pendulun Lariat! The move in... Chasing the Dragon! 1.. 2.. 3!)

Main Event: AJ Styles vs Kevin Steen
(Byron talks about how it was the Styles Clash that did Steen in at that Bragging Rights final. Tammy says she knows Kevin has not forgotten that night. He wants nothing more than to erase that defeat tonight. Except maybe winning the World heavyweight title.
There is no taunting, trash talking or anything other than two very focused wrestlers in the ring. The bell sounds and the fans rise to their feet and give an ovation before they even lock up. We hear some "Steen is going to KILL you" Chants. followed by a few "A-J!" chants. They tie up but neither man gets an advantage. They try again but still nothing. They both shrug and just start trading right hands in the center of the ring. The crowd is loving it. Knee lift by Steen, He whips AJ into the ropes and looks for a clothesline but Styles slides under the legs of Kevin, hops back up and drops him with a clothesline of his own. Styles hits the ropes but Kevin drops down. After AJ jumps over and hits the far ropes Kevin gets up and connects with a Rolling Kappo Kick right to the bridge of the nose of Styles. The impact sends AJ through the ropes and to the floor.
Steen follows out there. He grabs AJ and smashes his face into the apron. We see a blood stain on the apron as Styles has been cut open. Saxton says he believes it was from the Kick Steen hit earlier. Steen sends him in and kicks at the face of AJ. then hits the ropes and does a senton on Stlyes. He covers for two. Then he starts biting the cut on AJ's face. He comes up with blood all around his mouth like some savage cannibal. The crowd is chanting "You Sick F*ck!". Steen sends him into the corner and charges but AJ lifts up and counters into a Sunset Roll up. 1.. 2.. No, Steen kicks out.
Kevin throws and overhand right but it's blocked and AJ hits a Tornado DDT. Then quickly hops over the ropes and nails a Slingshot Senton. He covers 1.. 2.. No. He sets up for the Styles Clash but Steen back drops him over. Buckle Bomb by Kevin. Pumphandle neckbreaker connects! 1.. 2.. NO! AJ kicks out! Steen sends him into the corner and goes for the Canonball... he misses as AJ slid under the ropes. Steen staggers up and AJ hits the Styles Smash (Springboard forearm smash)! 1.. 2..
NOOO!!! Steen barely kicks out. Steen has a busted lip. Phenomenon by Styles! 1.. 2.. NOOOOOOO!!!! Steen kicks out but his eyes are glassy. AJ looks to have this. He tries for the Styles Clash again but Steen in desperation is kicking wildly and kicks AJ in his busted nose causing him to release Steen. AJ turns back and is caught with the Pop-Up Powerbomb!!! Steen covers as the crowd is going crazy! 1.. 2..
NOOOO!!!!! Styles kicks out!!! The fans are chanting "This is Awesome!" Both Saxton and Tammy agree with that. Both men are down on the mat bleeding. They get to their knees and are now just trading punches from there. Neither man is willing to concede. Tammy speculates how John Cena must love that his top two challengers are beating the hell out of each other. Then AJ gets Steen in the Calf Killer! Kevin is howling in pain. He refuses to tap but the pain is excruciating. He goes limp. the ref is checking on him. He lifts his arm once... twice... Three times! But Steen's arm stays up!!! The crowd is on their feet chanting "XWA". Kevin uses all he has left and pulls himself to the ropes. AJ finally releases and Steen rolls to the floor. He is holding his leg which is seriously in pain. The ref starts to count and it looks like Kevin may not make it back but Styles stops the count and warns senior referee Paul Turner that if he ends this on a countout he will get knocked out by Styles himself. Wisely Turner stops counting and Styles goes to the floor and slams Kevin's head into the railing then rolls him back in. Steen is now bleeding from the head as well. He goes for a Rack Bomb but Steen escapes and hits a Backstabber! He covers for another 2 count.
Steen tries to hit a belly to Back Piledriver but Styles counters it and has Kevin upside down!! STYLES CLASH!!!! both men are down but AJ drapes his arm over Steen! 1.. 2..
NOOOO!!!!!! Steen gets his shoulder up!! The crowd is in bedlam. Saxton has lost his voice from yelling! Tammy thanks the gods for that. AJ has just realized that Steen kicked out. He is stunned. He struggles up as Steen hasn't moved. He goes for Spinal Tap! But Steen rolls away!! AJ Lands hard! Kevin spits blood at the crowd. He pulls AJ in... PACKAGE PILEDRIVER!!!! 1.. 2.. 3!)
Winner: Kevin Steen (XWA)
(Both men receive a long standing ovation from the crowd. Both men are receiving medical attention. But luckily neither man appears to be seriously injured. A now hoarse Byron Saxton wonders aloud how either man will compete tomorrow in Miami. Then he and Tammy sign off.) | |
