Progress Wrestling; New Beginnings

           
The show opens up and we see a black Hummer pull into the venue. The door opens up and we see one half of the tag team champions, Randy Orton get out.






Orton gets his luggage out and us quickly jumped by the other half of the tag champs...... Tully Blanchard! Orton and Blanchard brawl all round until security comes to seperate them. The cameras pan inside the arena where we see Pat McAfee in the ring.





Pat Mcafee: "Whats going on all you Beautiful people? After a very successful Great American Bash Tour..... we are back! And as you know by now, Gateway and Progress have merged and it's time for a new beginning. And it starts tonight! I have several announcements to make but none bigger than my first one. As I said, the merger is complete. And Mike Smith and I have came to agreement.  A new beginning calls for a new company name. And moving forward we will be known as AAW..... All American Wrestling!"        









 Pat Mcafee: "NOW onto the new NWA World TV champion..... Drew McIntyre! First, congratulations goes out to the new champion. And we plan on the new champion being a very vital part of our TV going forward. And starting in September we will have a three week gauntlet matches..... the man who wins the gauntlet will face McIntyre on the last week of the month for that title! And speaking of champions, I would like to welcome the new AAW Heavyweight champion..... Shawn Michaels to the ring!"    










Pat Mcafee: "Shawn..... congratulations on winning the Elimination Chamber and unifying the titles! And at this time I would like to present you with the brand new AAW Heavyweight title!"            









HBK: "Save the accolades for someone who needs them nimrod! You can change the name of the company all you want and call it new beginnings, but the fact of the matter is, there isn't a man back there who can do the things that I do in this ring! So line them up..... and I will knock them down! But I'm telling ya right now..... I'm just using this title as a steeping stone to keep me sharp and the day comes when I cash in my Golden ticket contract on the NWA World champion! When will that day be? That's for me to know and you idiots to find out, because right now I'm having way too much fun giving that so called World champion,  Kerry Von Erich, nightmares! But since I'm here tonight..... I'm in a giving mood! I'm making an open challenge! Anybody in the back wanna shot at the champ?"          



After a few moments, out walks........

Match One: Ricochet vs Matt Sydal                    

A stalemate is reached after some wristlock and armdrags are traded. Ricochet uses the ropes for a modified armdrag and dropkick. This leads to a chop battle. Ricochet backflips away but Sydal takes him down with a headscissors and spinwheel kick. Sydal kicks at Ricochet’s legs before giving him a dragonscrew leg whip. Ricochet sunset flips Sydal, but Sydal rolls through and double stomps him on the chest. Sydal kicks out Ricochet’s legs. He looks for a standing moonsault but Ricochet kicks him away. Ricochet then lands his own standing moonsault for two. Ricochet snapmares him out of a cravate, then hits a kneeling slingshot senton. He applies a bodyscissors, transitioning into a headscissors on Sydal. Sydal fights back with more kicks to the leg. Ricochet chops him and stops some of his offense, until Sydal cracks him in the face with a knee strike. Sydal successfully pulls off a standing moonsault for two. Back on their feet, strikes are exchanged. Ricochet ends it with a Regalplex for two. He enzuigiri’s Sydal from the apron. He misses Chocolate Rain. Sydal clotheslines Ricochet in the corner, then comes off the top with Meteora for two. Ricochet goes for the Benadryller. Sydal cuts him off with an inverted legdrop bulldog for another two count. Sydal looks to bring Ricochet off the top with a headscissors. Ricochet lands on his feet. He catches Sydal with a kick to the face. Ricochet pulls him up for a suplex, which Sydal counters mid-air into a huracanrana for two. Sydal misses a moonsault. A couple of kicks to the head from Ricochet only leave Sydal down for a one count! The Benadryller, followed by a 630 splash, does the trick, giving Ricochet the pinfall victory!











 Gorilla Monsoon: "Quite the debut for Ricochet here tonight! Hello wrestling fans, Gorilla Monsoon here and to my surprise, I'm being joined by this guy..... Bobby "The Brain" Heenan! Are you at least going to speak tonight?"            


Bobby Heenan: "You know something Monsoon, you have been on my case for long enough! You think it's funny that the Heenan Family is no longer! Well I have news for you pal..... he who laughs last, laughs the loudest..... and when it comes to the Heenan Family..... you ain't seen nothing yet!"              

   Gorilla Monsoon: "Are you trying to say you found someone dumb enough to join up with you? Highly unlikely! Fans, we will be back after these messages!"

  Match Two: Rich Swann vs Drew McIntyre for the NWA World TV title              

Swann jumped McIntyre at the bell. McIntyre countered, and tried for the Future Shock DDT at one point but as they fell Swann countered into a pin for a nearfall. Swann went for a springboard off the ropes but McIntyre grabbed him and put him in a sleeper choke. Swann tried valiantly to escape, but Drew got him to the mat and Swann submitted. As the replay is shown, McIntyre takes the housemic......





Drew McIntyre: "So Smith and McAfee want to showcase the NWA World TV Title in this new AAW! As they should..... because this title means you are the very best wrestler on television! Bar none! So go ahead.... hold your gauntlet match. It doesn't matter to me who wins it, because there isn't anything I won't do to keep this title! It simply does not matter who you are......."            









Drew McIntyre: "Are you kidding me right now? Piper! You telling me you want in this gauntlet match after what I did to you in that chain match? Your lucky to be alive right now!"                    

 Roddy Piper: "Hear me out for a minute! Your right..... you got the best of me in that chain match. Damned near lost my eye over it! Not only did you one up me to get the chain match..... but on that night..... you was the better man! You win the fight and took that world tv title from me! Ots a hard pill for me to swallow, but its true! So to answer your question...... NO! I'm not here to enter that gauntlet match! Not at all. I can't wait that long! I'm here tonight to challenge you for a rematch...... this weekend in NWA London!                



The crowd pops as Piper and Drew have a staredown as the cameras pan backstage where we see Randy Orton going into Pat McAfees office.......






Randy Orton: "Mcafee..... I've had it with Tully Blanchard! Everything I turn my back, he's jumping me! Or he leaves me for dead to defend the tag titles! I never wanted to be his partner anyway! So here...... take these tag titles...... I'm done with them! There's only one thing I want with Blanchard....... and that's a one on one match! Make it happen!"                  


 Pat Mcafee: "So your relinquishing the tag titles? That's unfortunate. But I get where your coming from! And I was going to save an announcement for next week, you give me an idea. On Labor Day, AAW will be holding a special event called Destination: Chicago! You want Tully in a match? It will happen there!"

Match Three: Koko B.  Ware vs "Ravishing" Rick Rude w/Madusa and Jesse Ventura                  

Evasive manuevers by Koko to start, and then he fires some punches at Rude. Koko atomic dropping him. Rude gets out of the way of a charge and Koko goes balls-first into the turnbuckles. Celebratory pose by Rude follows. Rude heads to the top rope and connects with a fistdrop.  Rear chinlock by Rude. Koko fights out, but Rude knees him down and drops an elbow.

Back to the chinlock, but Koko gets out with an electric chair. He tries to finish with a splash, but Rude raises the knees. Rude heads to the top turnbuckle, but Koko shakes the rope and Rude crotches himself. Rude fights back and dumps Koko over the top, then Ventura throws Koko back in so Rude can finish with the Rude Awakening!





Rick Rude: "I'm going to make this real short and sweet....... LUGER..... you got soft and you dropped the ball and lost the most prestigious title in all of Wrestling! To a Von Erich of all people! You failed yourself and you failed The G-Club! Your pathetic! And if it's the last thing that I do..... I'm going to end your career!"                






 Jesse Ventura: "Easy big man! Easy! Your all worked up over a runt like Luger! Let me do you a solid! I will face Luger right here next week and do your light work for ya!! Now let's get outta this shithole town!"

  Main Event: Mr. Perfect vs Shawn Michaels w/Hall & Nash for the AAW Heavyweight title                  

There is some good mat wrestling to start the match with neither guy getting the advantage after a couple of minutes. Michaels went for a move off the top, Perfect avoided it and Perfect got a clothesline for two. Michaels showed his quickness while avoiding attack in the corner. Michaels jumped off the top and Perfect hit two slick arm drags in a row leading to an armbar. Perfect did a slingshot move that sent Michaels over the top to the floor.  Nash taunted Perfect on the floor, so Michaels nailed a superkick. Michaels hit a double axe on the floor and rolled him back in the ring. Hard whip into the corner by Michaels and he did it again with Perfect selling it in a big way. Michaels worked on the back of Perfect some more with a backbreaker. Perfect started a comeback with a dropkick followed by a back body drop and atomic drop for two. Perfect went for a backslide, Michaels fought it off and Perfect hit the Perfectplex. Scott Hall pulled Perfect out of the ring. The ref Earl Hebner didn’t see it because he was on the other side. Michaels went after Perfect on the floor as the ref counted. Michaels went back in the ring, rolled on top of Hebner and Hall sent Perfect into the ring post. Hall rolls Perfect inside the ring and as Perfect stumbles to his feet, HBK nails him with Sweet Chin Music to get the win! The Kliq celebrate as show fades to black.
