Progress Wrestling #41

       

The show opens up and we see Sting riding his motorcycle into the venue.  





As Sting is getting off the bike, Samoa Joe comes up behind him and locks Sting on the Coquina Clutch! Sting tries fighting out but soon fades to the hold. Joe gets up and stands over Sting and tells Sting he should be careful calling people out.  




Joey Styles: "OH...... MY....... GOD! The Progress Heavyweight champion,  Samoa Joe has struck! I'm being told that there are several people attending to Sting as we speak, and we hope to have word on his condition soon. Fans, I'm Joey Styles and this is Progress Wrestling! But for how long? I'm sure you have heard the news..... Progress Wrestling and Gateway are merging together! And it will all culminate on July 31st during the Great American Bash Tour! You have questions! We have questions! And we hope to get those all answered in the upcoming weeks! But can you......."        






Styles is interrupted by the appearance of Cody Rhodes, who is making his way to the ring......





 Cody Rhodes: "THIS IS usually whete I come out here and ask you all what it is that you want to talk about! But not tonight! Tonight I want to talk about only one thing. And that's you Ilja Dragunov! Three weeks ago you not only attacked me, but proved what kind of man you are when you put your hands on my wife, and left us both laying. Maybe that's how they do things in Russia! But your in the good Ole United States now and you have made this very personal. So personal impact, that I'm not going to be happy with just any ordinary match. Because all that will happen there is a disqualification. For what I have planned for you, any ordinary match won't do. I have something way more brutal in mind. Something my Daddy taught me years ago! Dragunov, during the one Year Anniversary of Progress...... on our nations Independence Day..... I want you in a Bullrope match!"

 Match One: Marty Jannetty vs Kurt Angle                  

Angle takes him down without much effort but Marty reverses right back into an armbar. A toss to the floor is countered with a skinning of the cat into a headscissors to send Angle outside. Angle holding a waistlock, which he switches into a waistlock to mix things up a bit. Angle snaps off a German suplex for two and it’s right back to a waistlock to stay on the ribs. Jannetty finally fights up and hits a DDT for a much needed breather. A spinwheel kick drops Angle and a hurricanrana out of the corner puts him down again.

Marty hits a high crossbody but Angle rolls through and hits a German suplex. The Angle Slam and ankle lock are both broken up and a rollup gives Marty a close two. Now the ankle lock goes on full but Marty rolls him into the buckle for the break. Angle isn’t having that and puts it right back on, this time with the grapevine for the tap.





 Kurt Angle: "Another week..... another victory for your Olympic gold metal winner! And as the victories pile up, I firmly hold my spot as the #1 contender to the NWA National title! And that Canadian Bacon champion we have is running out of days as champion. KO you say you like to fight. But I'm telling ya pal..... it's gonna be hard to fight when I have you down on the mat breaking your freakin ankle! Ohhhh..... it's true! It's Damned True!"

Match Two: Eddie Guerrero vs Juventud Guerrera            

Tilt-a-whirl backbreaker by Guerrero had Eddie fired up enough to go for the attack again. Juventud countered with a face buster. Hurricarana by Juvi sent Eddie fleeing to the floor. Guerrera didn’t follow, giving Eddie the chance to regroup and plan. Slipping behind the referee, Eddie dropkicked an unsuspecting Juventud before tossing Guerrera to the floor. Juvi’s back met the steel guardrails, setting up Eddie’s abdominal stretches and body slams when the action returned inside.

Eddie made a big mistake in letting Juventud rise and get his feet moving. Sunset bomb by Juvi stunned Eddie, but didn’t knock him out for the three count. Guerrero quickly grabbed the long hair of Juvi, yanking him into a brain buster. Sleeper attempt by Eddie resulted in him being belly to back suplexed. Guerrero kicked out before the three count, taking Juvi down as both men got to their feet. A second clothesline attempt after the first one dropped Juventud gave Guerrera a chance to slip underneath the incoming arm and hurricarana Eddie. Missile dropkick from Juventud sent Guerrero to the floor for a suicide plancha!

Guerrero was out of it as Juventud motioned for the Juvi Driver. At the last second, Eddie wiggled his way free, using a modified airplane spin into the Gory Special to put Guerrera in position for his patented Frog Splash to get the win. Eddie calls for the housemic......


Eddie Guerrero: "It seems there is some confusion in the air Holmes! I have a guarantee titke shot against the Suoer Juniors champion...... Will Ospreay has a guarantee title shot at The Super Juniors champion! He'll, for all o know, all you people may have guarantee title shots at the Super Juniors champion! What is this...... OPRAH??? EVERYBODY GETS A TITLE SHOT! Then a couple if weeks ago, Ospreay asked me to step aside so he cab face that vato, Jay White! I'm not so sure that sits well with me esse!"          




This brings Will Ospreay to the ring!




Will Ospreay: "Eddie, don't get it all wrong Bruv! I know we are from different countries, and perhaps we don't understand each other Mate! I wasn't asking you to step aside..... I was telling you! You see, I've been number one contender for that Super Juniors title a long time Bruv! And not gotten one title shot! Don't worry sport.... after I beat Jay White..... you will get your title shot!"          

Eddie Guerrero: "So, it's like that esse? Your telling me now? I don't care how long you been number one contender or the fact you haven't gotten a title shot yet! See that's the difference between you and me, holmes..... I'm not waiting to get what's mine!"              


This brings out the General Manager..... Pat McAfee!


Pat McAfee: "I was listening in the back.... and you both make very valid points. And you know me..... I like to give the people what they want! So on July 4th in Pasedena at the Rose Bowl....... Will Ospreay...... you will get your title shot against Jay White!"              


Eddie Guerrero: "HEY! WHAT KINDA CRAP IS THAT?"                

Pat McAfee: "Relax Eddie..... relax! Because on July 4th in Pasedena..... YOU ARE ALSO GETTING A TITLE SHOT AGAINST JAY WHITE! AS IM MAKING IT OFFICIAL..... JAY WHITE WILL DEFEND THE SUPER JUNIORS WORLD TITLE AGAINST WILL OSPREAY AND EDDIE GUERRERO IN A TRIPLE THREAT MATCH!"      



Ospreay and Guerrero eye each other over as the fans pop big time for that announcement!




***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***





 Match Three: Battle Royal (Winner faces Samoa Joe next week for the Progress Heavyweight title)
             

This match consists of 10 men.....  Gino Hernandez,  Shinsuke Nakumura,  The Midnight Rider,  Fenix, Shawn Michaels,  Kevin Nash, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Booker T, and Swerve Strickland! The rivalry between the Hart Foundation and The Kliq resumes, as well as the hatred between Booker and Swerve as the fight in the corner and Nash throws them both over. HBK superkicks Fenix out. And the match goes on until everyone is eliminated except for HBK and the Midnight Rider! They go at each other for over 5 minutes. Then HBK throws Rider over, but Rider skins the cat back in as Owen Hart distracts HBK and Rider dropkicks HBK over the top! The Midnight Rider will face Samoa Joe for the Progress title next week!

The cameras pan backstage where we see David Schultz watching on and is pissed throwing anything he can get his hands on around as we see.......





Samoa Joe: "Dr. D!! Easy big man! You seen what I did to Sting earlier right? You make sure to bring that $25,000 bounty money next week! I got this fool for ya!"                    




As we head to break we see a video montage between Nikita Koloff and The NWA World champion..... Lex Luger! It is announced in the video that Luger will defend the NWA World title against Nikita on July 4th at the Great American Bash as show fades to black!
