PostSubject: Progress Wrestling #40   Progress Wrestling #40 EmptyWed May 15, 2024 2:15 pm

As the show opens up we see the dastardly attack on Cody Rhodes and his wife Brandy from Ilja Dragunov.......

Dragunov blindsides Cody with a huge punch to the face! Then he grabs Cody and hits a gnarly expolder suplex. Dragunov keeps the onslaught going with an H-Bomb. Then Dragunov climbs the turnbuckles and leaps off with The Burning Hammer! (Slingblade off the top rope) Cody lays motionless on the mat as we see Codys wife, Brandy running to the ring. Brandy kneels over Cody, talking in his ear. Dragunov grabs Brandy by the hair and lifts her up as she squeals out in horror. Dragunov looks out to the crowd then nails Brandy with a lariat!!

Dragunov stands over Cody and Brandy as EMT's rush to their aide.

Gary Hart: "Pardon the interruption Joey Styles, but Kabuki and myself are here on business. And the business in hand is the $25,000 bounty placed on The Midnight Rider by David Schultz!"

Joey Styles: "Well, we knew it was only a matter of time before they started coming out of the woodwork trying to collect the bounty. Gary Hart has led Kabuki to the ring and it looks like we have us an impromptu matchup!"

$25 000 Bounty Match: The Midnight Rider vs The Great Kabuki w/Gary Hart

Kabuki taunted with the mist and Rider stayed at a safe distance. Rider worked over Kabuki’s legs first, stayed on him with a solid dropkick, and ended his flurry with a bearhug. Kabuki recovered and hit some quick body and throat kicks, a few chops in the corner as Hart yells instructions for Kabuki to take the mask but Kabuki with his own shoulder clutch submission and tries to undo the mask. The crowd started to get pretty loud when Rider caught Kabuki in a sleeper hold, but he was forced to break the hold quick due to a rope break. We went into some back-and-forth offense from both men who stayed on their feet despite some heavy shots. As soon as Rider started to get back on a roll, he was able to get The sleeper applied to Kabuki.
Rider kept it on and was nearing victory when Gary Hart grabbed his leg and caused a break. Rider reaches over the ropes and swings at Hart, but Hart ducks and now has Riders arms tied up. Kabuki blows the mist but Rider ducks and the mist hits Gary Hart! Kabuki goes for a roundhouse..... but Rider scoops Kabuki up for a Tombstone piledriver to get the win!

Progress Wrestling #40 6pDMtve

Renee Young: "Another impressive win for The Steiner Brothers! Guys, as the victories start piling up, one would have to imagine that there's tag titles aspirations in your future?"

Progress Wrestling #40 ZDI9m5K

Rick Steiner: "That's what the Steiner Brothers are all about..... winning matches and proving we are the best tag team in all of pro wrestling! But to be called the best, you gotta have the belts to prove it! There's another team running around the NWA beating everybody too..... and that's Hansen and Funk! But guess what..... they ain't beat us! And we don't think they can! So me and my Brother say, put those National Tag titles on the line and let's find out who the best really is! WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!"

***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

As we come back from break we see The G-Club inside the ring!

Progress Wrestling #40 Ol65b1m

Lex Luger: "Another week has came and gone, and once again somebody new has thrown out a challenge to "The Total Package " Lex Luger and this NWA World title! This time it's Ric Flair...... who I will get to in just a minute.

But before I can do that, I have to address Kerry Von Erich. I heard that Kerry may not be the brightest crayon in the box..... so I will try this one more time. It seems that Kerry went out and got his big Brother to help fight his battles! And they want The G-Club in a 6 man match! As Kerry is trying to show that Family bond. But as I listened to Kerry ramble in, I couldn't help but notice that older brother, Kevin, never said a word! See, Kerry would like the world to believe the Vin Erichs are a close family. I'm not so sure! I mean, wasn't Kevin just trying to be a Freebird of all things? So to make it very clear to Kerry....... YES! The G-Club accepts your challenge! And oh yea..... Kevin...... when your ready to show your true colors in that match..... just give us the sign!

Now...... back to Ric Flair! We get it Flair! You like to dress nice..... ride in first class...... and so on. All the things a world champion should do. Only problem is...... your NOT the world champion! I am! And your just a small fish with a secondary title, looking up at the top of the mountain where you see me! And I have no problem adding your name to the list of people I plan on defeating during The Great American Bash! What does he call himself? Oh yea...... The Nature Boy! That's about right....... he's nothing more than a little boy living in a man's world!"

Joey Styles: "I can promise you fans, there is no arrogance in the Luger family..... because that man has it all! We will be right back!"

***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Match Three: Yuji Nagata vs Kurt Angle

Angle jumps the gun and pounds Nagata down in the corner. He hits a nice belly to belly suplex then SLAPS him in the face. Yuji’s response is to hit a sweet belly to belly of his own. Nagata goes for the Crossface and forces Angle to drag both of their weights to the ropes. Kicks from Yuji, greeted by huge roars from the fans. Nagata starts to dominate, until Kurt dives into a chopblock, doing such damage that Nagata roles out of the ring. Angle is on that injury in a flash, chasing him to the floor to land some kicks then bringing it back inside to apply a Figure 4 Leglock. Spinning toehold next, but Nagata uses his good leg to kick his way free and lock in a Fujiwara Armbar.  Angle escaped the Armbar and dishing out the German suplexes. Nagata’s response – ROLLING BRAINBUSTERS! Kurt shoots for the Anklelock, but Nagata counters to the Crossface. Kurt grabs the ankle and starts twisting it even whilst in that hold. Finally he busts out and clings on to apply the Anklelock for the first time. Nagata kicks free…Crossface again! Angle stands up….INTO THE OLYMPIC SLAM! ANGLE MOONSAULT MISSES! Climbing knee smash in the corner from Nagata, into a belly to belly superplex for 2. Back to the Crossface with Styles putting over how the hold will work Kurt’s suspect neck. ELBOWS! FOREARMS! SLAPS! Nagata punts Kurt in the jaw, but Angle falls backwards into the ropes and rebounds with a clothesline. He lines up for a Kick of Death…COUNTERED TO A SEATED ANKLELOCK! NAGATA TAPS!  Angle grabs the American flag and the housemic.......

Progress Wrestling #40 KTpwH5c

Kurt Angle: "We are just weeks away from not only the one Year Anniversary of Progress Wrestling,  bur the start of the Great American Bash! I mean think about it..... Progress will hold it's Bash on the 4th of July! How freakin American is that? And your Olympic hero is ready to make history on that day! Because there's a guy who holds the National title...... and He's freakin Canadian! That man is Kevin Owens! He says he likes to fight! We'll KO..... I'm not challenging you to a fight. I'm challenging you to a good old fashion wrestling match! And after I make you tap out to my ankle lock...... America will finally have a NWA National Champion to be proud of! Oh its true...... it's damned true!"

The cameras pan backstage where we see Booker T and Swerve Strickland involved in a huge brawl. They fight all over the backstage area until security comes to break them up.

Gauntlet Match (Winner is guaranteed a NWA Super Junior Title match)

Before the match starts, the Progress Atlas champion,  Eddie Guerrero, comes out and joins Joey Styles at the commentary booth.

Progress Wrestling #40 R6eLjhL

Styles congrats Guerrero on recently adding another title to his resume by winning the WWC Xyreme title. Then they talk about Guerrero also winning the #1 contenders spot to Jay Whites Super Junior titke, and how he could possibly be facing the winner of this match some day.

The bout started between PAC and Dante Martin. Once PAC gained the advantage, Penta El Zero Miedo made his way out to the ring and joined the match. Kenosuke Takeshita was out moments later, and to no surprise, he began targeting the limbs of PAC.

Will Ospreay entered the match next, much to the surprise of many fans. Ospreay cleaned house before standing toe-to-toe with his old rival, PAC.

Gino Hernandez came out next and went face to face with Will Ospreay. Gino took out a few stars with a series of clothelines before sending Ospreay into a crowd of other wrestlers at ringside with his signature Blackout move.

Rey Fenix made his way out and sent his Brother, Pentagon into a set of tables with a hurricanrana. Ospreay went on to hit PAC  with a Liger Bomb. Moments later, Jay Lethal entered the ring.

In the closing stretch of the match, Ospreay went to hit Takeshita with a Tiger Driver 91 before Takeshita took advantage and applied an armbar. Fenix came off the top rope onto Takeshita but this allowed Ospreay to shoot up quickly and nail Fenix with a hidden blade to score the victory. As the fans cheer, Ospreay takes the housemic......

Progress Wrestling #40 VGFSjLg

Will Ospreay: "First things first..... Eddie Guerrero! I see you sitting up there..... and I know what you have accomplished lately! You been killing it Bruv! You truly have! And I know you have won the right to face the NWA Super Juniors world champion! But I've been the #1 contender to that title for months now! And Jay White has done his best to avoid me! So I have a favor to ask you Eddie....... hold off on your title shot just yet Bruv! Because I have said it many times..... I just need one shot! One match against Jay White to become the NWA Super Juniors champion! So being the #1 contender to that title and just winning this match to guarantee me a shot. I'm ready to cash it in! And I know alot of you people are thinking that I'm talking about Ospreay vs Jay White at The Great American Bash! But that's not the case! I'm talking Will Ospreay against Jay White...... RIGHT HERE NEXT WEEK! And Eddie..... I promise you..... after I beat Jay White...... you and I can then tear it up Mate!"

Eddie gets up and stands on the commentary table applauding Ospreay. As the fans pop at the announcement.

***COMMERCIAL BREAK ***

Hawk slowly throws Rude around, but gets caught with a backbreaker. Rude goes up and gets nothing, and they fight to the floor where Jesse Ventura runs out to help Rude double team Hawk. That is until Road Warrior Animal charges down to even things up and both teams battle around ringside as show fades to black.
