LES THATCHER:" Fans i'd like to welcome everyone to this historic show that is being taped tonight for video distribution !
We are coming to you live from the historic Rupp Arena in beautiful Lexington, Kentucky and what a fantastic card we have tonight ! And we have a fantastic main event tonight as USWA'S very own Olympian-KURT ANGLE tries to do what many have tried but all have failed at and that is beat the machine known as WALTER and take that NWA National Heavyweight title off his waist!
But enough of me yapping on and on, let's go to the ring and get started with this great night of wrestling !"
DREW MCINTYRE
1st Match: JESSE "THE BODY" VENTURA vs DREW MCINTYRE
These two big men engage in several tests of strength to start this off but neither man gets an advantage! They then interlock fingers in another test but JESSE kicks DREW in the gut which doubles him over and JESSE follows up with several forearm smashes and double axe handles to the back which flatten the scotsman out! JESSE then picks up DREW and hits a few thunderous body slams which put a hurtin on DREW'S back ! JESSE whips DREW into the turnbuckle twice and on the second one DREW staggers out and is caught in a vice like bear hug !
JESSE holds his for several moments as he squeezes the life outta DREW!
After several unsuccessful attempts to escape the hold, DREW gets fired up by the crowd and eventually works his own arms between JESSE'S and reverses the bear hug ! As the crowd pops ,JESSE quickly rakes the eyes of DREW to quickly escape!
JESSE tosses DREW into the ropes and sets up for a back body drop but DREW Kicks the bent over VENTURA and starts hammering away on The BODY!
Now DREW takes over and spends the next several minutes wailing away on JESSE before eventually tossing him from the ring!
As JESSE attempts to reenter the ring, DREW goes to suplex JESSE back in but as he does so, JESSE grabs the top rope causing him to fall on top of DREW and JESSE, with the help of holding on to the ropes , gets a very contreversial pin!!
LES: " Well, no one ever said that JESSE VENTURA was an honorable man and win, lose or draw he has shown he will do anything, and i mean anything, to win!
Now let's go back up to the ring for our next contest!"
2nd Match:" EDGE vs DR. D DAVID SHULTZ
SHULTZ seems a little bit thrown off by the unique EDGE and that bit of hesitation gives EDGE the opening he needs and he goes on the offensive! He hits SHULTZ with multiple flying arm drags and a few back drops to get the good doctor to leave the ring to catch his breath!
It doesnt take long for EDGE to go outside to join him an a brawl ensues on the floor until SHULTZ reverses a whip which sends EDGE into the guard railing!
SHULTZ reenters the ring as EDGE is writhing on the floor in pain as he is clutching hos back which had hit the steel railing!
EDGE tries to reenter several times but is stop[ped esch time by the doctor who is admonished by the ref!
EDGE finally shoulderblocks SHULTZ and reenters by hitting a sunset flip which SHULTZ kicks out at 2!
They brawl for a few seconds which SHULTZ gets the best of and then whips EDGE into the turnbuckle and follows up with some forearms which stagger the Canadian!
SHULTZ then goes to piledrive EDGE but EDGE back body drops SHULTZ out of it a when SHULTZ staggers back around, EDGE is awaiting him and hits the Doc with the spear as the crowd eruots! EDGE covers SHULTZ and gets a hard fought win!!
LES:" Fans, that was one heck of a battle and EDGE was the one who outsmarted SHULTZ in the end and secured a big win for Progress!
Now up next could be the match of the night in many fans eyes so let's go back up to the ring!"
3rd Match:" SUPERFLY" JIMMY SNUKA vs SHINSUKE NAKAMURA
These two shook hands at the beginning and this match lived up to it's billing as these two battled back and forth for almost 30 minutes as they exchanged holds and counters throughout the match and had the fans on their feet! In the end SNUKA missed a superfly leap and NAKAMURA capitalized on this miscue and rolls up JIMMY for the pin! Afterwards the crowd gives both a standing ovation as they shake hands!
LES: " WOW....just WOW! That maych lived up to the hype and then some! But the action doesnt stop as we head up to the ring for more exciting action!"
4th Match: GINO HERNANDEZ vs KEVIN OWENS
OWENS shows his true colors here as he attacks GINO from behind before the bell rings ! Once it does ring, OWENS keeps up his assault as he beats the gorgeous one from pillar to post ! Eventually GINO fights back and starts to give OWENS a taste of his own medicine as the fans pop!
GINO however misses a cross body block and OWENS whips him into the corner! Owens goes for a running cannonball onto GINO in the corner but GINO moves at the last minute as OWENS crashes into the corner upside down!
GINO then hits a flying lariat on a stunned OWENS and gets the pin!
LES:" Now that was a fight and although I thought OWENS had the momentum behind him due to his early onslaught, GINO showed his intestinal fortitude and came back with the win! Now time for some tag team action!"
5th Match: the HOUSE OF BLACK vs THE POWERS OF PAIN
These 4 men go right at it tooth and nail from the start and the ref loses all control after several minutes! He has no choice but to dq both teams as they have no desire to adhere to any rules! They end of fighting down the aislt all the way back to the dressing room!
LES:" Those four wanted to fight from the start and that's exactly what they did and in the end nothing was solved! Now we get the Hangman taking on the KING!"
6TH Match: "HANGMAN" ADAM PAGE vs JERRY" THE KING" LAWLER
LAWLER gets a rousing receptio here as he;s practically a hometown boy but this doesnt bother PAGE as he takes the fight to the KING and does some cowboy shit that seems to assure him pf victory ! However he misses a lariat and LAWLER pulls down the straps and soon hits PAGE with a succession of punches which rock the cowboy as the fans cheer!
LAWLER slams PAGE in the center of the rin g and then hits a top rope fist drop which stuns HANGMAN long enough to then hit the piledriver and that's all she wrote as JERRY gets the pin !
LES:" Well the KING is on top tonight as he had to pull a big git check to come back and get the win over the Hangman!
But up next is our main event as KURT ANGLE tries to wrest the NWA National Heavyweight title against the Machine known as WALTER! And joining me on commentary is a man who is very interested in the outcome...RAZOR RAMON!"
RAZOR:" HEY YO!! LES THATCHER, you are absolutely correct here as i'm going to witness one helluva fight ! and Chico,it doesnt mmatter to me who wins because at Starrcade, i'm going to add that National title to this WWF Heratige title and then o may just go show the world champ that he aint so macho when it comes to someone oozing with machismo!"
LES:" Fair enough RAZOR so fans let's no go up to the ring for our main event!"
MAIN EVENT
NWA NATIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
WALTER(C) vs KURT ANGLE
Both men meet in the center of the ring and a staredown ensues with both men's faces like stone!
ANGLE starts off the bout by hiting an array of wrestling moves which WALTER counters and we have a back and forth chain wrestling exhibition that the fans actually cheer out of respect!
ANGLE is a bit dismayed here as he may have underestimated the wrestling ability of the champ!
The men exchange some forearms to the face which rock both men ! ANGLE then stuns WALTER enough to go behind him and hit an Angle Slam and WALTER barely kicks out of a pin attempt at 2!
ANGLE HITS a few varieities of suplexes butb WALTER somehownjust kicks out inn time on every pin attempt!
WALTER fights back and hits a fall away slam which stuns KURT who kicks out of a pin attempt by the champ!
A mid ring collision knocks both men down but ANGLE recovers first and clamps on the Angle Lock but WALTER fights it offand makes it to the ropes to break the hold!
Eventually this turns into a brawl that WALTER is winning and then he hits a clothesline on ANGLE that stuns him enough to allow him to follow up with a powerbomb and WALTER gets the pin and retains his title!
As WALTER is handed his belt as the crowd boos, RAZOR RAMON enters the ring and the men stand face to face as the show ends!
