BOB COSTAS:" Fans we would like to welcome everyone to the SWEET 16 of MARCH MADNESS to crown our first evet NWA World Heavyweight Champion! Are you excited BOBBY?"
BOBBY HEENAN:" EXCITED? I can barely breathe! Just the smell in here tells me why they nicknamed this place BeanTown! Can i get a fan in here?"
COSTAS:" Well with that,let's go up to the ring for our first match up!"
1st Match: BOB BACKLUND vs UWF TV Champion-DR. DEATH STEVE WILLIAMS
This promised to be quite the scientific encounter and it did not disappoit!
With both men having outstanding wrestling credentials abd with BACKLUND having underrated strength,this was a great back and forth affai!
Hard hitting? you bet but this match was tough but fair!
BACKLUND gets DOC up for a atomic knee drop but DOC blocks it on the landing and levels BOB with a stiff clothesline!
DOC picks up BACKLUND and hits the Oklahoma Stampede power slam and secures the 3 count!
After the match the two shake hands!
COSTAS:" Well BRAIN...if that opening match is any indication,we are going to have one heck of a night!"
HEENAN:" I'll tell you what COSTAS...all this sportsmanship and hand shaking crap bores the hell outta me! I'd much rather see someone get punched in the face or kicked in the damn groin!"
COSTAS:" Well maybe this next match will be more of what you are looking for!"
2nd Match: BARRY WINDHAM vs STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN
These two texans hook up right away and this match is on!
WINDHAM has to use his speed and agility to offset AUSTIN'S ass kicking mentality and it seems to be working!
The match soon turns into a bit of a fight which is right up The Rattlesnake's alley!
AUSTIN goes to whip WINDHAM into the ropes but it is reversed by BARRY who catches AUSTIN on the rebound with his flying lariat!
BARRY makes the cover and 3 count but the ref fails to notice AUSTIN'S leg on the bottom rope!
As WINDHAM is announced as the winnjer,an irate AUSTIN lays out the ref and BARRY with stunners before flipping them the bitd and leaving the ring!
COSTAS:" Well AUSTIN has a legit complaint here but the ref can't call what he can't see and BARRY WINDHAM moves onto the Elite Eight!"
HEENAN:'Well... thats what ol, LUKE WARM AUSTIN gets for showing up drunk as usual!"
3rd Match:BRUISER BRODY vs EDDIE GUERROw/BABYDOLL
EDDIE does everything he can to avoid BRODY'S power and craziness...including ducking,dodging, even leaving the ring several times to try and throw the big man's timing off!
Even BABYDOLL does her best to offset BRODY!
BRODY finally gets his hands on EDDIE and here come the punches and kicks!
BRODY tosses EDDIE into the ropes and bounds off the opposite ropes but his momentum is stopped as BABYDOLL grabs his leg!
An angry BRODY snatches her by the hair up onto the ring apron but is kneed in the back by EDDIE a few times which drops the big man to the mat!
EDDIE climbs to the top turnbuckle and goes for the frog splash but is met by a big furry boot to the face!
One GTS later and BRODY gets the pin and advances!
COSTAS:" WOW! That was one helluva match ! EDDIE almost took down the wildman!"
HEENAN:" BRODY is a deranged lunatic! He belongs in a mental institution...not a wrestling ring ! Ban that man before he kills someone!'
4th Match; the UNDERTAKER vs SUPERSTAR BILLY GRAHAM w/EDDIE GILBERT
For some reason GILBERT is allowed to stay at ringside after stating and showing he has a managers license!
TAKER could care less as he fears no man!
SBG matches TAKER'S strength which kind of surprises him but TAKER has agility over SBG and uses it to his advantage!
SBG gets TAKER in a bear hug and is sqeezing the life out of him but TAKER summonsthe strength to get his arms between GRAHAM'S and reverses into his own bear hug!
SBG quickly rakes TAKER'S eyes to break it !
As GIKBERT jumps on the ring apron to admonish the ref,the crowd goes crazy as THE ROCK has ran down to ringside!
He grabs GILBERT off the apron...goes to hit him...but GILBERT ducks and takes off like a bat outta hell with ROCK in hot persuit!
This dustracts GRAHAM who is soon hit my a TAKER clothesline which lays him out!
TAKER then picks him up and delivers the tombstone piledriver and gets a popular three count to advance!
COSTAS and HEENAN recap the action so far and let fans know that on March 11 from the United Center in CHI TOWN ,the ELITE EIGHT will take place live at 8:00pm est on TBS!
5th Match:LEX LUGER vs WWF TV Champion-TAZ
LUGER is damned strong but TAZ is no slouch in the stregnth department!
LYGER utilizes his power ton take an earlt advantage but a qucik belly to belly stops that!
TAZ starts to use some leglocks and step over toeholds to work on LUGER and it pays off later as when LEX tries to put TAZ in the tortore rack,his legs gives out and he drops TAZ!
Then TAZ hits a fall away slam which stuns LEX enough to allow the WWF TV Champ to apply the tazmission!
LUGER fights like hell before eventually having to tap out and giving TAZ the submission win!
The pro WWF crowd pops huge!
COSTAS:" WOW! The TAZ train just keeps on rolling in the NWA!"
HENNAN:"Train? From the looks of TAZ, i dont think he is even tall enough to board a train without a parent!
Besides that was an illegal choke hold! He should have beenn dqd!"
6th Match: EXOTIC ADRIAN STREET w/ MISS LINDA vs the svelte 213 pound PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE
Talk about an eccentric matchup!
Between STREETS unorthodox style and flamboyant prancing and ROSE'S complaining and brief stops in the action to do jumping jacks and one armed push ups,the crowd doesnt know how to react!
But these two finally get down to business and have a damned good back and forth match!
ADRIAN'S big mistake is in trying to bodyslam ROSE for some reason which allows ROSE to get the pin with a handful of tights!
COSTAS:" It may have started out a bit odd but that ended up being one helluva match!"
HEENAN:" What the hell did i just watch? A Ren and Stimpy episode?"
7th Match: WWF Heavyweight Champion-MR.WONDERFUL PAUL ORNDORFF vs RAVISHING RICK RUDE w/ PERCY PRINGLE III
These two guys are tough as they come and show everyone why!
They exchage tests of strength wins and ORNDORFF even gets out of a few rude awakening attempts !
The end comes as ORNDORFF hits RUDE with a foreign object and secires a tainted win and advances to the ELITE EIGHT!
percy's COMPLAINTS TO THE REF FALL ON DEAF EARS!
8th Match: NIKIA KOLOFF w/JIMMY HART vs DAVID VON ERICH
NIKITA is a mass of muscle here and he is dominant at the beginning!
DAVID finally figures the Russian Nightmare out and duckd a russian sickle before hitting NIKITA with a dropkick which puts him on the canvas!
DAVID is however caught in a bearhug for severeal minuts but has the crowd behind him and he doesnt give up!
DAVID finally breaks it as he applies the Von Erich claw on KOLOFF who is forced to relinquish the hold!
DAVID is squeezing the hell outta NIKITA'S head but the bearhig took a lot outof him as NIKITA breaks it with a knee that looks like a low blow!
The ref is distracted by HART which allows NIKITA to grab his chain and he clotheslines DVE with it!
He tosses the chain out just as thge ref turns toward then and gets the pinfall!
HART is in the ring jumping up and down in happiness as a stoic NIKITA just stares menacingly into the camera!
COSTAS:" This has been one helluva a night and i feel the repercussions of some of these results are not gonna be nice!"
HEENAN:" Is someone frying baloney? I cant wait to get outta this foul stinking town!
