AWA Heavyweight Title Tourney 1 Tommy “ Wildfire “ Rich vs Tully Blanchard : Rich starts off with a side headlock takedown . Tully reverses it into a head scissor . Rich reverses back into a side headlock, Tully reverses it into a Belly to Back Suplex . Now Tully hits a back breaker and then a gut wrench Suplex . He covers 1…..2…. Rich kicks out . Tully works a standing surfboard stretch , which Rich turns into a version of the Killswitch . Rich covers and gets 1….2…..Noooo !! Tully kicks out . Rich puts on a front face lock . Tully gets to the ropes and knees Rich in the gut and then shoulder thrust him on the corner . Tully now back into a body Vice with his legs . Rich gets to the ropes and Tully puts the boots to him
Rich falls out of the ring and Tully drops an elbow on him on the floor . Tully gets in the ring and looks as though he’s content to take a count out win . Rich rolls under the bottom rope at 9 . Tully knees him in the ribs several times before breaking on four . He now pulls Rich to his feet , he goes for the Slingshot Suplex , Tommy shift his weight into a crossbody . 1…..2…. Tully gets a foot on the ropes . Tommy hits a dropkick as Tully stands that knocks Tully to the floor . A security guard comes and checks on Tully . What the ref doesn’t see is the brass knuckles that he guard slips into Tully’s hand. Rich goes to bring Tully back in , Tully swings wildly , Rich ducks under and hits a second dropkick , the Knux go flying , Tully collided with security guard on the floor , revealing Baby Doll . The ref calls for the bell DQing Tully after he saw the object go flying . Rich moves onto the semifinals in Cobo Arena next week !
Heavyweight Title Tourney Match 2 Sheik Ken Patera ( w/ Sheik Adnan Al Kassie ) vs Rick Martel : Before the match begins , Martel leaves the ring and then comes back with Dino Bravo . Patera clotheslines Martel when he gets back on the ring , knocking him over the top rope . Kassie goes to attack him , but Bravo turns him inside out with a clothesline . Patera pulls Martel back in the ring and hits him with big clubbing forearms to the back . Patera now hits a shoulder breaker on Martel . He covers 1…..2….. Martel kicks out ! Now Martel’s temper is on full display due to Patera’s cheating . He fires rights and lefts , inverted Atomic Drop by Martel . He now gets a bodyslam on Patera . He puts on the Boston Crab !! Patera gets to the ropes , off the break Patera scores a Double Leg pick up and then uses the ropes for leverage to pin Martel . 1…..2…..3 ! Patera moves on to face Rich in the semifinals in Cobo Arena next week .
AWA Heavyweight Title Tourney Match 3 HHH vs Kurt Angle : They lock up collar and elbow , HHH goes for a hiptoss , Angle counters into a Fireman’s Carry and then an arm bar . HHH gets to the ropes for the break . HHH ask for a test of strength, when Angle goes to lock up , HHH kicks him in the gut and then a Kneelift to the face . From there , he drops a knee across the forehead and then a fist drop . He rakes the laces of his boot over Angle’s face and then hits a neck breaker . He sets for a Pedigree , Angle backdrops out of it . European Uppercut Forearms by Angle and then a spinning neck breaker . Angle now pulls his man up and hits an over the head belly to belly . HHH staggers up , Angle with a release German.
HHH gets up a bit slower , Angle with another release German. He goes up now and gets off a Moonsault. He covers 1…..2….. Noooooo !!! HHH kicks out . Angle chops him across the chest knocking him into the turnbuckles . He puts HHH on the top rope and gets off a Super Over The Head Belly To Belly!! He covers 1…..2…..Noooooo !! He now goes for the Ankle Lock . HHH is close to tapping . He claws and scratches his way to the ropes and gets the break . Off the break , he grabs Angle’s tights from the front and hurls him into the turnbuckles. From there locks in a Sleeper . Angle gets to the ropes and HHH clotheslines him on the back of the head knocking him out of the ring . HHH hits a Spinebuster on the outside and now rolls Angle back in . Angle staggers up …… PEDIGREE!!!! HHH covers and gets 1……2…….3 !!! HHH moves on to the semifinals at Cobo arena next week .
AWA Heavyweight Title Tourney Match 4 Bret Hart vs Cactus Jack : Cactus attacks Bret as he’s coming up the ramp way . He hits a clothesline on him and then kicks him all the way down the aisle . He slams his head into the ring apron and rolls him in the ring . He gets off a leg drop and then pulls Bret up for a Double Arm DDT , Bret counters into a swinging neck breaker . Bret lay on the mat recovering. Cactus is up first and grabs Bret who back drops him . Now Bret with gut wrench side Suplex and then grabs Cactus’ legs , splits and stomps his gut . Bret now bounds off the ropes and drops a knee across the forehead . Bret starts to roll Cactus into the sharpshooter, but Cactus gets to the ropes . Off the break he headbutts Bret in the gut and then clotheslines him on the top rope .
Cactus with an atomic drop and then a clothesline . The two of them go spilling out if the ring . Cactus drops Bret throat first across the railing . Cactus rolls on the ring and sits in the corner screaming and rocking back and forth . Bret rolls under the bottom rope just before ten . Cactus runs across the ring and tries for a diving headbutt, but Bret moves and Cactus hits the mat face first . Bret does kind of a makeshift Curb Stomp , which stuns Cactus and then pulls him to the middle of the ring and puts on the Sharpshooter. Cactus taps out . Bret goes on to face HHH in the semifinals at Cobo Arena in Detroit next week .

This whole thing almost looks like battle lines are drawn . Bravo , Verne , The High Flyers , Billy Robinson and Bruiser and Crusher on one side .
The other Sheik Jerry Blackwell , newcomers Ivan Koloff , Baron Von Rashke , The Super Destroyer on the other . The odd two guys out are the crazy bastard Moondogs. Rex goes after Super D , while Spot attacks Bravo . Super D lifts Rex above his head and Rex hits him over the head with a rawhide . He then tosses Super D out .
Freddy Miller : The Super Destroyer has been eliminated.
Verne , The High Flyers go over and help Billy Robinson . Rex sees his partner in trouble and starts swinging his bone around knocking everyone senseless . Billy somehow dropkicks Rex over the top rope , while Verne and the High Flyers take out Spot .
Freddy : Both Moondogs have been eliminated.
Baron Von Rashke now has Greg in the Claw . Bruiser comes over and gets off a Polish Hammer to BVR’s head . Ivan Koloff , hits Bruiser with a chain knocking him out over .
Freddy Miller : Dick The Bruiser is eliminated .
Bravo is mixing it up with Jerry Blackwell in the corner . Crusher comes over and tries to help Bravo . Blackwell however lands a nasty headbutt on Bravo , rakes Crusher’s eyes and tosses out Crusher . Bravo recovers and puts Blackwell in a Bearhug .
Freddy Miller : The Crusher is eliminated.
Baron Von Rashke and Ivan Koloff break away and now all 3 toss out Bravo .
Freddy : Dino Bravo is eliminated.
It’s now down to Blackwell , Koloff and Baron for the heels . Faces , Robinson , Verne and the High Flyers .
Robinson decides to go into business for himself however and dropkick , Greg over the top rope . This pisses off Jimmy and he goes after Robinson .
Freddy: Greg Gagne is eliminated.
Koloff breaks away from 3 on one Beatdown of Verne and helps Robinson toss out Jimmy .
Freddy: Jimmy Brunzell has been eliminated.
Robinson rakes Koloff’s eyes and then dropkicks him over the top rope .
Freddy Miller : Ivan Koloff is eliminated.
Robinson lays in the corner . Verne fights for all he’s with with BVR and Blackwell . All 3 are leaning way over the ropes . Robinson dropkicks Blackwell in the back and all 3 men spill out to the floor .
Freddy : The winner of the match and $50,000 . Billy Robinson.
The crowd has turned on Robinson as he takes his leave .
Main Event The Minnesota Wrecking Crew qvs The Hollywood Bombers : The match starts with all four men meeting right in the center of the ring and begin pounding the hell out of one another . Somehow , Ole and Bockwinkle end up on the outside . Stevens introduces Gene’s head to the turnbuckles repeatedly. Ole with a backdrop on the outside on Bockwinkle . He gets in the ring and hits a big clubbing forearm across the back of Stevens . Now he and Gene are beating the hell out of Ray . Gene with an Anderson slam on the left arm of Stevens and tags in Ole . Ole ties Stevens arm up in the ropes and kicks the hell out it . The ref breaks it up . Bockwinkle finally is on the ring apron . While the ref is untying Stevens, Ole goes over and knocks Bockwinkle off the ring apron .
Ole tags in Gene , who applies a top wrist lock . Stevens gouges the eyes of Gene and gets off a DDT . He covers and gets only two . He can’t hook the leg because of the left arm . Stevens rolls to the corner to tag Bockwinkle , but Nick is still down . Gene in the mean time tags Ole back in . Ole rams Stevens arm into the turnbuckles and tags Gene back in . Gene with a hammerlock DDT . Gene covers 1….2……Nooooo !!! Bockwinkle breaks it up by stomping Gene in the back of the head . Stevens now goes to the corner and gets the tag to Bockwinkle! Gene gets to his feet and Bockwinkle knees him in the gut and whips him in the corner . He chops him across the chest , then holds him , while Stevens comes in and delivers a chop to chest . Stevens hurls his man on the ground , bounds off the ropes and comes down with a knee to the chest . Bockwinkle gets the tag and puts Gene against the ropes and lands a clubbing forearm against the chest and then uses a front facelock. He knees Gene in the top of the head while in the hold and then tags Stevens .
Stevens back on and just puts the boots to Gene in the corner . Ole is trying to get in the ring to break it up , but the ref is holding him back , which allows Bockwinkle and Stevens to double team him in the corner , choking him with the tag rope . Ole gets back to the corner and when the ref turns around he sees Bockwinkle with a side headlock on Gene . The ref asked if he received a tag and of course Bockwinkle is gonna lie and say yes . Bockwinkle tags Stevens back who chokes Gene . Gene rakes the eyes and then kicks Stevens in the left arm . Stevens folds up like an accordion. Ole gets the tag . Bodyslam on Stevens . Bockwinkle comes in and Ole Bodyslams him as well . Now Gene is in the ring . He and Bockwinkle spill to the outside . Ole hits a hammerlock DDT on Stevens . This time Bockwinkle is caught up with Gene and can’t make the save . 1…..2….3 . You winners and facing RNR next week , The Minnesota Wrecking Crew.
