Opening Round :
Bret & Owen Hart vs Ray Stevens & Nick Bockwinkle ( w/ Prettyboy Paul Christy ) : Owen and Bret in the beginning are running like a well oiled machine. They have kept Stevens in the corner . They have been working his leg . Christy though while Bret works a step over toe hold and pulls Stevens to the ropes . Bret yells at Wagner , Stevens clotheslines him on the back of the head and gets to tag in Bockwinkle . The two do a masterful job keeping Bret in the corner .
Bret gets off an inverted Spinebuster on Bockwinkle, and gets the tag to Owen . Owen with a spinning heel kick on Bockwinkle and then a gut wrench Suplex . He goes for a diving elbow and Stevens shoves him off the ropes . Bockwinkle puts Owen on a Sleeper . Bret gets pulled off the apron by Christy . Bret nails him with a right hand . He goes to get in the ring , but Stevens cuts him off . Owen gets to the ropes for the break . Now all four men are in the ring . Owen goes for a step up enzuguri on Stevens , but he pulls Bret in front of him . Owen yells at Bret , “ what the hell are you doing ? “ Bockwinkle now with a back breaker on Owen while Stevens comes off with Bombs Away !! Stevens covers and gets the 3 . Bockwinkle and Stevens move on .
The Moondogs vs The Rock N Roll Express : It’s painfully obvious that the Moondogs need a manager . Very undisciplined. Spot right in front of the ref hits Robert in the face with a Rawhide . The ref calls for the bell and DQ’s the Moondogs . Ricky and a bloody Robert move on .
Dick The Bruiser & The Crusher vs The Minnesota Wrecking Crew ( w / Gorgeous George Wagner ) : Bruiser and Crusher want to ugly this thing up with a fight . Ole and Gene want to play the tag team game . The Andersons keep Bruiser in their corner and work over the arm . Bruiser rakes the eyes bites Gene in the forehead to get loose. He gets the tag to Crusher . Crusher with a body slam on Gene and then waits and goes for the Bolo punch as he stands . Wagner reaches in and trips up Crusher . Bruiser goes out and clotheslines Wagner . The ref warns Bruiser about the blatant cheating . In the mean time , Ole and Gene are giving the Crusher the business.
Ole with a cross arm breaker on Crusher . He’s close to submitting , but gets to the ropes . Ole tags in Gene . Crusher thumbs Gene in the eye and it’s just enough to get the tag from Bruiser . Bruiser with a Polish Hammer on Gene , while Crusher Bolo’s Ole !!! Bruiser covers and gets 3 . Bruiser and Crusher move on .
Sheik Jerry Blackwell & Sheik Ken Patera ( w/ Sheik Adnan El Kassie ) vs Iron Mike Sharpe & Dino Bravo : This match is power on power . Blackwell is stunned when Dino Suplexes him all over the mat . Bravo gets the tag to Sharpe who clotheslines Blackwell and then starts putting the boots to him . Sharpe whips Blackwell into the corner and charges him , Blackwell moves and then smashes Sharpe under his girth . He tags to Patera .
Patera comes in and Bodyslams Sharpe and now uses a standing surf board . He tags back off to Jerry . Blackwell comes back in and works a Bearhug . Sharpe hits right hands to the forehead of Blackwell and gets off a makeshift Belly to Belly! He tags Bravo , Dino with a gut wrench and then a Vice Lock ( don’t ask because I just made it up . ) . Patera from behind breaks it up . Jerry tags off to Patera who puts on the Slinging Full Nelson . Bravo’s feet find the turnbuckles however and he pushes off and rolls Patera’s shoulders to the mat . Patera has no choice but to release the hold .
Bravo tags in Sharpe who nails Patera in the back with a big clubbing forearm and then a fall away slam . Sharpe sets up Patera in a Torture Rack . Blackwell knees Sharpe from behind in the back . Now all four men are in the ring . The ref is trying to get Blackwell and Bravo out of the ring . Sharpe has Patera in the mean time back in the Rack . What the ref doesn’t see is Al Kassie fireball Sharpe . Sharpe is rolling on the mat holding his face and screaming . The ref finally gets order restored and turns and sees Sharpe who is now passed out due to the pain in the Full Nelson . He calls for the bell awarding the match to Patera and Blackwell .
Intermission
HHH vs Kurt Angle : This actually loses control in a hurry . The match is thrown out at the 4: 48 mark . Then there is just about ten minutes of fighting that ends with HHH Pedigreeing Angle on the floor . Angle has to be taken out by EMTs .
Round 2
Stevens & Bockwinkle (w / Prettyboy Paul Christy ) vs Dick The Bruiser & The Crusher : Bruiser and Crusher try to muck things up . Again they want to brawl , while Stevens and Bockwinkle want to wrestle . Every time Bruiser or Crusher has their opponents pinned , Christy is there to break things up . Bockwinkle late in the match has the Sleeper , but Bruiser powers out of it and then powerslams Bockwinkle . Bruiser gets the tag to Crusher .Bolo Punch on Bockwinkle!!! He covers 1…..2….. Christy puts Bockwinkle’s foot on the ropes . Bruiser has had enough . He goes out after Christy , but is attacked on the outside by the poor sport Anderson brothers . Crusher by himself and falls victim to the Bombs Away Device by Stevens and Bockwinkle for the 3 .
Rock N Roll Express vs Sheik Blackwell & Sheik Patera ( w / Sheik Adnan Al Kassie ) : The Sheiks go right after the open wound on Gibson’s forehead . He’s bleeding all over the place which pleases Al Kassie . Blackwell is trying to put him away with a Bearhug , but Ricky becomes cheerleader and gets the crowd chanting , “ let’s of Bobby !!! “ Gibson staggers backward into the ropes and Ricky gets the hot tag . Ricky with a dropkick off the top rope on Blackwell . He hits a charging Patera with a Rana that flips Kenny to the outside landing on Al Kassie . Blackwell staggers up …. Double Dropkick by RNR !!! 1…….2…….3!!! The stage is set . The Hollywood Bombers ( Stevens & Bockwinkle ) vs The Rock N Roll Express ( Morton & Gibson )
Intermission 2
Bob Backlund vs Tully Blanchard : What many tonight will call a true May classic . These two incredible athletes go nearly 40 minutes . Tully goes for his Slingshot Suplex and Backlund counters out into a Bridging German Suplex for 3 .
Main Event AWA Tag Team Title Finale The Hollywood Bombers vs The Rock N Roll Express : Normally Gibson starts off for the team , but Ricky is trying to protect his partner . So he starts off instead . Ricky , much faster than any of the other 3 men in the ring . Hits a couple of real nice Lucha arm drags on Bockwinkle and then catches Stevens comes in with a dropkick that sends him out of the ring . Ricky takes control of Bockwinkle with a deep arm drag and then top arm bar . He looks to his corner and ask , “ are you ready , Bobby ? “ Gibson nods his head and Ricky gets the tag . He pins Nick’s arm to the mat and Robert comes over the top rope driving a knee into Nick’s arm . He hits an arm ringer and tags back off to Ricky , who hits an arm ringer and then top wrist control . Robert gets the tag and repeats the process .
He tags Ricky back in and he repeats the process . Bockwinkle at one point during Morton’s arm lock gets to the ropes . Christy grabs the back of Morton’s tights , out of the ref’s view , then Bockwinkle drives a knee to the gut . He whips Morton into the corner , then knees him in the gut again and tags Stevens in . Stevens now with a hard forearm smash while Morton is in the ropes and then Bulldog ! Bockwinkle comes in and he puts on a Body Vice . Morton gets to the ropes , but still in the Bombers corner . Stevens slams the head into the turnbuckles and then a chop to the chest sends Ricky down . He tags back off to Bockwinkle who now hits a German and then drops a knee right to Ricky’s head . Stevens gets the tag again and goes for a Piledriver , but Morton backdrops out of it and gets the tag to Robert .
Gibson with a dropkick on Stevens . A drop toe hold on a charging Bockwinkle , introduces Nick’s nose to the mat and he’s now bleeding from his nose . Gibson with a spinning neck breaker on Stevens and then covers 1…….2……Stevens kicks out . Gibson now works Figure Four on Stevens , but Christy pulls his man to the ropes . Bockwinkle comes in while Gibson is still locked up and drives an elbow drop to Gibson’s forehead !!! Morton is trying to get in the ring , but the ref is holding him back . This is allowing nasty double teaming by the Bombers . Ricky gets the crowd going urging Robert to fight .
Gibson with a hiptoss on in coming Stevens he stumbles toward his corner , but Stevens grabs a leg and then pulls him back and gets off a Bulldog !!! Gibson is busted open again . Stevens with a side headlock , gets the tag to Bockwinkle. Bockwinkle comes in and uses a head scissors. Morton again getting the fans going . Gibson finds the extra to get to his feet and gets off a makeshift Powerbomb !!! The wound is open again however and blood is pumping out of Robert’s head . He takes two steps toward his corner and falls flat on his face . Bockwinkle tows him back and tags Stevens back in . Stevens with an STF !!! Gibson rolls on his back and finds the sanctuary of the ropes . Stevens stomps the hell out of him and tags back off to Bockwinkle.
Bockwinkle comes in and just uses basically a front facelock . The blood is all over the mat now . Ricky urging his partner to get up and fight . The crowd is behind Robert and lo and behold he hits a DDT !!!! Bockwinkle is on the mat holding his now broken and bloody nose . Robert lay there not moving . The ref administers a count . Both men are staggered to their feet at 9 . Bockwinkle with a chop to the chest . Gibson with a forearm to the face . He falls backward and happens to land in his corner . Bockwinkle staggers toward Ricky who hits a rana then grabs Bockwinkle’s legs for a pinfall attempt . 1……2…… Stevens breaks it up !!! Bockwinkle with a European Uppercut ! He gets the tag to Stevens . Stevens comes in and gets off a leg drop on Morton and then covers 1…….2……. Robert breaks it up !!! Morton with a step up enzuguri on Stevens and then a flying head scissors that sends Stevens out of the ring . Christy is complaining to the ref and Bockwinkle clips Morton’s leg from behind . Stevens gets back in the ring . Now he works a half crab ! Morton is close to tapping but now Robert is playing cheerleader . Ricky hits a second enzuguri on Stevens ! He goes to tag Robert back in , but Christy pulls Robert down off the ring apron . Robert hits his head and now just lays on the floor at ringside . Stevens with a vertical Suplex on Morton . He tags Bockwinkle back in . Bockwinkle now with a Figure Four on Morton . Morton thought showing that fighting spirit , rolls it over . Bockwinkle is thriving in pain . It’s so intense the blood from his nose is pouring out !!! Christy runs over to pull his man into the ropes , but surprise ….. Gibson showing the heart of a champion waffles Christy from begin and wills himself to get back on the ring apron . Ricky rolls to the corner . He gets the tag to Robert . Bockwinkle staggers up …. Double Dropkick by the Express ! Robert covers while Ricky cuts Stevens off . 1……..2……..3 !!!!
