Subject: XWA 01 (Written by Pike1302) Mon Jun 22, 2020 3:53 am
The camera comes up on the rowdy crowd in the Du Burns Arena, on the shores of the inner harbor in Baltimore .... We hear the words ....
'Ladies and Gentlemen .... My name, is Paul Heyman ....'
This gets an enormous pop as out comes Paul Heyman on the stage ....
Heyman - 'For those of you that know the history of the XWA, you know that it is a sad, sad story .... A company that has produced world champions in every division, guys like Sheamus, Ultimo Dragon, the Nation of Domination, and the Briscoes .... Well, unfortunately ladies and gentlemen, not every story has a happy ending .... But I can stand here before you today and say that XWA does!'
This gets a huge pop from the crowd .... An 'X-W-A! X-W-A!' chant breaks out ....
Heyman - 'You see ladies and gentlemen, for the last several months while I have been an employee of SHOOTING STARS WRESTLING, I have pursued negotiations that has led to the purchase of XWA from bankruptcy court .... And of right now I can stand here and say to all of you that the XWA is back! And I can make a promise to all of you fans, because if it weren't for you this company would have died .... And that promise is that I am going to give you what you want to see .... Ladies and gentlemen, this is 'professional wrestling'!!!! There will be no crooked 'General Manager', no 'public authority figure', no puppet that comes out here for the same old song and dance every show, none of that sports entertainment bullshit .... This is X .... W .... Fucking .... A!!!!
And behind that curtain there is a locker room full of guys that believe in those 3 letters .... The 3 letters that all of you have been crying for to return, and the 3 letters that you all paid to see .... And they are ready to bust their ass to prove to you that they are the hardest working locker room in this business! And I would like to introduce a man that has been a close friend of mine for nearly 20 years, a man that is a leader in that locker room .... Tommy Dreamer!'
Dreamer comes out to a good reaction .... He gets in the ring and he and Heyman embrace .... However, they are interrupted by .... ERIC BISCHOFF????
Both Heyman and Dreamer are surprised by this as Bischoff comes out along with David Otunga sporting a bow tie ....
Bischoff says Heyman may not have an on-screen authority figure, but there are still people he has to answer to .... After all, whose network is he on??? Heyman didn't buy XWA on his own, there are a lot of people that have a stake in this and Bischoff is there to represent THEIR interests .... Not to mention sponsors and TV affiliates .... Bischoff reminds Heyman of his failures in SSW, ECW and PNW .... .... He promises that it is his sole purpose to make sure XWA does not fail again, or that Heyman drags it down like he has other companies before .... And Heyman has already made his first mistake by letting Tommy Dreamer lead anything, much less the locker room .... But then again, Dreamer has always been a no-talent, Paul Heyman 'yes-man' ....
Dreamer goes to hit Bischoff, but Heyman stops him .... Heyman backs Dreamer off, trying to calm him down while Bischoff talks trash behind him .... Bischoff turns and jaws with the crowd, BUT HEYMAN SMASHES HIS OLD SCHOOL CELL PHONE OVER BISCHOFF'S HEAD!!!! Otunga nails Heyman and knocks him down, but Dreamer comes to Heymans defense and starts fighting with Otunga!!!!
Tommy Dreamer -vs- David Otunga
This starts out as a brawl but a ref comes down and we have an impromptu match .... Otunga and Dreamer are both in street clothes .... This is basically a glorified squash match, as Dreamer pretty much controls the whole thing except for some offense at the beginning by Otunga .... Dreamer goes to finish off Otunga with the Spicolli Driver, but Bischoff re-enters the ring and nails Dreamer with a low blow!!!! The ref calls for the bell and disqualifies Otunga ....
Otunga and Bischoff quickly leave the ring, but Dreamer takes the mic and calls them back .... He ain't ending this match on a DQ, because this is XWA! He wants the match restarted! Otunga heads back to the ring, but the lights go out! When they come back on, standing in the ring is .... ABYSS! Dreamer turns around .... RIGHT INTO THE BLACK HOLE SLAM!!!! Abyss stands over Dreamer as the new era of XWA is underway!
We go to the announce desk with the new XWA announce team, Tom Phillips & Renee Young .... Tom puts Renee over as the first full-time female commentator in UWF history .... Renee, meanwhile, encourages the fans watching on YouTube to take to social media and spread the word about XWA ....
3 way Dance: Evan Bourne -vs- Adrian Neville -vs- 'The Great' Sanada
This match puts the young talent of XWA on display as these 3 men are part of the new XWA 'X' division .... The action is all over the place as these 3 men fly in and out of the ring .... In classic 3 way dance style, there is a flurry of finishers at the end of the match, but the last man standing is Adrian Neville after he pins Sanada following a Red Arrow ....
After the match all 3 men shake hands in the middle of the ring, but instead of shaking hands Sanada sprays the green mist in the eyes of Neville ....
Next up, we get the appearance of 'The Masterpiece' Chris Masters .... Masters poses, then says he is out to issue an open challenge for anyone to break his 'Masterlock' submission .... His challenge is answered .... By BIG E LANGSTON!
Langston sits in a chair in the middle of the ring and allows Masters to put on the hold .... Masters keeps breaking before he can get it locked in, and he keeps frustrating Big E .... He finally gets the lock on, but Big E starts to power out of it! Just before Big E is about to break the hold, Masters legs go and attacks Big E from behind! Masters stomps on Big E and yells for a ref to come out, and we have our next match ....
Big E Langston -vs- 'The Masterpiece' Chris Masters
The match starts with Masters having the advantage after him just attacking Big E during the Masterlock challenge .... However, Big E fires back with a big body block off the ropes .... Big E with a big splash but Masters kicks out .... Masters fires back with a polish hammer, but Big E catches him coming off the ropes and scoops him on his shoulders .... He drills Masters with the Big Ending for the 3 count ....
Not to be denied, Big E isn't done there .... He insists that he wants a 5 count, so the ref obliges, counting Masters down for a count of 5! Your winner .... Big E Langston!
XWA backstage correspondent Josh Matthews is backstage with Kyle O'Reiley and Bobby Fish, aka ReDragon .... He brings up their past relationship with Paul Heyman and asks why they are here in XWA .... O'Reiley says the only past relationship with them and Paul Heyman is that Heyman has the best eye for talent in this business .... Fish says as far as why they are here, it's real simple .... They took the money and ran .... They got a sweet deal with a lot of zeroes in it, but make no mistake .... They have always been the best tag team in the universe, now they are just getting paid what they are worth ....
ReDragon is coming up next ....
ReDragon (Kyle O'Reiley & Bobby Fish) -vs- The S.A.T (Joel & Jose Maximo)
The Maximo's are one of the top teams in the indies, but ReDragon is a different breed of tag team altogether .... They combine striking with mat wrestling and mma, and it is obvious that they are masters of all of those disciplines .... The action goes back and forth for a solid 12 minutes until it breaks down with all four men in the ring .... Maximo's set up for the Spanish Fly on O'Reiley, but Fish breaks it up and sends one of the Maximo's to the floor! Fish gets taken out, but O'Reiley nails Jose with the 'Ax & Smash' (axe kick to the back followed by a tornado forearm) .... O'Reiley runs up the ropes and hits a tornado DDT, but he holds on to the front facelock .... Fish is up and they hit 'Chasing the Dragon' (hanging brainbuster + roundhouse kick to the head) to get the 3 count! ReDragon looking impressive here ....
As ReDragon get their hand raised, the lights in the arena dim prematurely and an image appears on the big screen ....
We see a camera panning through a city at night .... We cut to a rooftop where there are 2 men standing overlooking the city .... It is Konnor and Viktor ....
Viktor - 'Now I lay me down to sleep .... I pray The Lord my soul to keep ....'
Konnor - 'Children pray at night .... But we prey AT night ....
Viktor - 'We are the Ascension ....
Konnor - 'And we ... Will ... RISE!'
Up next, out comes Colin Cassidy along with Enzo Amore .... Enzo, as usual, has the mic ....
Enzo - 'My name is Enzo .... Amore! And I am a certified G, and a bonafide stud! And you can't ... Teach ... That! And this here? This here is Big Cass! And he's 7ft tall ... And you can't ... Teach ... THAT! Bada Boom! Realist guys in the room! How you doin!'
Enzo hands the mic to Cassady ....
Cassady - 'And XWA has never seen Jeees ...'
Enzo - '... Us!''
Cassady - 'Gees like us!!!! And we are here in XWA to make an impact .... Because the rest of the boys behind that curtain ain't nuttin but .... S ... A ... W ... F ... T ... Saaaaaaaawft!!!!'
'Hallelujah Chorus' by Handel hits and brings out Damien Sandow .... Sandow is quick to let the crowd know just who he is, the 'Intellectual Savior of the Masses' .... He goes on a tirade using big words to describe why he is better than everyone in the arena, especially the 2 men in the ring that don't know how to spell the word 'SOFT' correctly .... He spells it out for them S-O-F-T .... Now that he has given them a lesson in grammar, now he will give them the wrestling lesson of a lifetime!
Colin Cassidy w/ Enzo Amore -vs- Damien Sandow
Sandow can't counter the size of the 7ft Cassidy, who overpowers him when he goes for a simple lockup .... Sandow goes to the eyes to get the advantage, then he takes the knee of Cassidy out .... Sandow works him over for a bit .... ELBOW OF DISDAIN! Sandow gets a 2, then tries to finish Cassidy off with the 'Enlightener' but Cassidy's height advantage prevents Sandow from locking it on .... Cassidy fights back with some back elbows and clotheslines, then nearly takes his head off with a huge big boot! Sandow is in real trouble, and he falls victim to the 'East River Crossing' (sit out swinging side slam) for the 3 count! Cassady impressive in his debut ....
Video package airs for the Briscoes and Cryme Tyme .... Both of the teams are hyped as XWA 'originals' and Cryme Tyme even won world 6 man gold while members of the XWA roster ....
UWF world tag team titles: The Briscoes (Mark & Jay) -vs- Cryme Tyme (Shad & JTG)
Huge 'XWA!' Chant rings out as these 2 teams get ready to square off .... Mark and JTG start it and they wrestle back and forth .... Cryme Tyme looks really good in the early goings, hitting some double-team moves and having the Briscoes on the ropes .... But like the champions they are, #DemBoyz battle right back .... Mark takes JTG out with some 'redneck Kung fu', but Shad takes him out with a big boot .... Shad with a Full Nelson slam on Jay for a close 2 .... He goes for a spinebuster, but Jay wiggles free and kicks him in the gut .... JAY DRILLER BLOCKED! Spinebuster by Shad gets 2! JTG and Mark back in .... Briscoes manage to take Shad over the top rope with a double clothesline, and Mark hits the John Woo dropkick on JTG .... He goes up and nails the FROGGY BOW! Kickout by JTG! Jay picks JTG up on his shoulders .... Springboard doomsday device!!!! Jay hooks the leg while Mark dives out onto Shad .... Jay gets the 3 count!!!!
After the match, all four men shake hands as the fans chant 'XWA!' JTG gets an XWA flag from someone in the crowd and holds it up .... Jay gets the mic and cuts a passionate promo about how the Briscoes have been XWA from day 1 .... But being the world tag champs they have to travel the world and defend these belts .... So they are turning XWA over to a new generation and they know it's in good hands .... He knows the XWA locker room is ready to 'Man Up!'
The Briscoes and Cryme Tyme lead the crowd in a big 'XWA!' Chant as the show ends ....
