AWA # 11 : The Battle Before The End
Dusty Rhodes : Tonight , Jeff Cobb , we gonna do it again . This time it ain’t gonna be no wrestling match , daddy . There ain’t gonna be no referees , there ain’t gonna be no rules , there ain’t gonna be no count outs . There ain’t gonna be no pinfalls , submissions , or 10 counts . If you can stand you can fight . If you can’t then it’s over . The Dream ain’t interested in titles tonight . Tonight all I want is to make you bleed !!!
Cobb : Unsanctioned. Sanctioned . It doesn’t matter . I am the AWA Heavyweight Champion , I’ll be the AWA Heavyweight Champion until I beat the old dried up fossil Ric Flair . Survivor Series is next week , but you won’t make it . Tonight Dusty Rhodes , we finish it !
Freddy Miller: Fans this is the American Wrestling Association on WGN , from the Museum of Broadcasting live ! Here now is your host . The Dean of Wrestling Gordon Solie.
Gordon : Thank you Freddy . Hello !! You already heard our main event tonight . We also have the American Rednecks defending their tag team titles against Ross and Marshall Von Eric .
Our WGN Television Title Match tonight , Harley Race will defend against Kane . Before that however , I want to bring in Harley Race. Mr . Race recently on Nitro , you had a match with Sting and seemed to be having assistance with Brian Danielson and Samoa Joe .
Race: I don’t give a damn about Sting , I don’t give a damn about Walter , Samoa Joe or Brian Danielson. Next week I’m paid to be at Survivor Series and I have to work with those guys as a team and I have Sting as an opponent. Now if we win Survivor Series , Mr Danielson listen to my words carefully young man , sometime down the road you are going to owe me a favor for being a good team mate . I plan to collect on that favor in the form of a World Television Title Shot .
Miz comes out to a round of boos .
Miz : Hey !! When my hand goes up , your mouths go shut !!!
The crowd continues to boo him .
Miz : Really ? Really ? You want a World TV Title Shot ? Really ? When I arrived here in AWA I said I was the best and I proved it . I have beaten everybody they put in front of me . And just last weekend , I secured a X Division Title shot that I would have won , but MJF’s life partner got involved .
Well , I look at you and that title and personally , it disgust me . Look at you , in a button down shirt , you got at some thrift store . All those colors looks like you went hunting and shot your couch with that design .
Now look at me . $300 dollar pair of shoes . $4600 suit . The finest silk shirt money can buy and this tie from Tiffany’s in New York City . I am true championship material and you well , you’re the guy at the steak house thinking Texas Road House is high end . You disgrace that belt . Hell you disgraced the World Tag Titles that you dropped . Nick Bockwinkle carried you .
So before I humiliate you , just give me that belt and I’ll pick up your last few WGN Television Title contracts including Kane here tonight and you can thank me later .
Race : You know your right . Here , you go .
Race holds out the title . Miz takes it reluctantly looking for the other shoe to drop , but Race hands it over . Miz puts it over his shoulder .
Race : You know Kid , I was pretty banged up when Nick and I held those World Tag Titles . That’s why we surrendered them . We took a couple of months off after our company closed and when AWA started up , I felt good enough to come back and give it a try . I had originally thought about retiring and it’s in the back of my mind all the time .
I mean I’m a WGN Television Champion . John Rose and Bob Luce should be paying air fare each week to get me back home to St . Louis , but they don’t . They instead book me at a damn house show in Moline or some backwater town like in Barton , Wisconsin where the whole population comes out and fits in the high school gym to see us wrestle .
Then I have to stay at some cheap Motel 6 in LaCrosse and get an Uber to an airport . Fly a cheap coach flight , because I don’t make your money , because I don’t make movies . I get home on Monday morning . Read my paper , have breakfast with my wife and go fishing on Tuesday. Thinking , I wish I could spend more time fishing with her . By Wednesday Luce is on the phone telling me to get to Chicago because we got a house show at the prison in Joliet on Thursday . Then of course Friday is live .
A young guy like you , well your in Hollywood with your beautiful wife and daughter . You make movies and Christmas tv specials . You are sought after on Match Game you don’t have to be in Joliet at the prison . I look at your life and mine and I ask myself two questions . Is it worth it and is it time to retire . I see you holding that belt and I know the answers kid …..
Race sticks out his hand . Miz shakes it and then Race decks him with a right cross .
Gordon : Eh eh . Wait a minute …..
Race : Hell yes it’s worth it , you stupid snot nose punk ! Every time I got to those towns those people pay their money to see me . When I go to the prison in Joliet, those guys tell me how much it means to them . Did you really think I was going to retire ? Let this be a lesson Mr . Mizanin don’t ever piss off on old mule when it’s still got some kick left .
Gordon : WOW , we have to get order restored . We’ll be back .
Break
Out of the break Miz is arguing with Luce at the podium . Miz is holding his jaw .
Miz : He humiliated me . I want him tonight . Not tomorrow night in St. Paul . Are you that stupid ? You’re not getting it ?
Luce : Kane has the match via contract . There is nothing we can do about it .
Miz : Then put me on the match !!
Luce : Now that I can do . Gordon , it’s a 3 way dance for the WGN Title , tonight .
Gordon ; Ok fair enough . Let’s go to the ring .
Sixman tag team action . Okada , Tiger Mask and Jushin Thunder Liger vs Sean Waltman , Hiroshi Tanahashi and John Morrison : This is tune up match for both these teams for Survivor Series . It goes 27 minutes of exiting action , Morrison misses the Moonlight Drive on Tiger Mask , who hits a release German Suplex! Tiger flies across the ring and tags in Okada .
Morrison tags Tanahashi . Tanahashi hits a sling blade on the champ and goes for the High Fly Flow . He gets it !!! 1…..2…. Nooooo !!! Liger breaks it up !!! Waltman comes in and gets caught by the Shotay !! Morrison falls victim on the outside to the Flying Tiger Space Drop . Okada pulls up Tanahashi, RAINMAKER !!!! 1….2….3 !!!
Okada , Tiger and Jushin join Gordon at the podium .
Okada : Gordon Solie . Not bad for 3 jap guys is that what MJF said . 3 jap guys ?
Gordon : Um yessir , I believe it was 3 japs a Canadian and Flyin Cryin .
Okada : MJF is funny . However the 3 jap guys are world class athletes . Bret Hart is one of the top five best wrestlers in the world maybe . And Brian Pillman is unpredictable . This team is built to win . Unlike his who have no honor and can’t get along . After we beat his team at Survivor Series , Mr . Solie one of the five us is going to become the X Division Champion sometime , somewhere . Maybe all five us at some point .

Gordon : Right now we have a debut . This young man debuted in a battle Royal on our sister company Big Time Wrestling last week and was quite impressive . So impressive , that Mr . Luce bought out his contract from Big Time Wrestling. Let’s go to the ring and Freddy Miller
Freddy Miller: Gordon , this match is one fall with a tv time limit of ten minutes . First from Mound , Minnesota Steve Olsonoski . His opponent from Woodstock, Georgia Bron Breaker !!
Steve O uses a back leg trip and then a step over toe hold . Bron kicks him off and then following a clothesline hits an over the head belly to belly Suplex . From there he gets off a clothesline . He then gets in a 3 point stance and about blast Steve O out if his shoes with a shoulder tackle . He covers 1…..2….3 !!!
Gordon : An impressive win for this young…..
Edge comes in as Breaker is celebrating and takes him out with a Spear !!!
Gordon : Wait a minute . Edge doesn’t work here .
Edge goes to the podium and stares at Gordon . He snatches the mic out of the timid announcer’s hand .
Edge : I do work here now . This was a statement !
Break
AWA Tag Team Titles The American Rednecks vs Ross and Marshall Von Erich : All four members of the Legion of Evil come out . Ross and Marshall are dealing with four men instead of two . Hogan and Jungle Boy come to the ring . This turns into an all out brawl . It gets more interesting though when out of the back comes Ric Flair who chop blocks Hogan from behind and Rick Rude who hits a Rude Awakening on the floor on Jungle Boy !
Gordon : We have to get order restored . We’ll be back .
Gordon : Welcome back . It’s been sheer pandemonium here tonight on the last week before Survivor Series . And Fre……
Dusty Rhodes and Jeff Cobb spill out of the back . Cobb hits a spinbuster on the floor and then grabs Gordon’s mic and pounds on Dusty’s head . It makes a sick THUNK sound each time . Cobb grabs a bungie strap from under the ring and chokes Dusty with it . He then rakes Dusty’s face on the floor and Dusty is busted open . Dusty reaches back and rakes Cobb’s eyes and crawls away from him . He reaches the time keepers table and pulls himself up .
Cobb closes in from behind with his eye sight restored. Dusty grabs the ring hammer and spins around . He kicks Cobb in the gut and then digs claw of the hammer into Cobb’s skull . He tosses the hammer to the side . Grabs Cobb’s feet and falls back … Cobb slingshots into the ring post . He’s now bleeding . Dusty grabs a hand held camera from a crewmen at ringside and smashes it into Cobb’s knee .
Dusty applies The Figure Four . Cobb is searching for something . Anything . He finds the discarded hammer and just tosses it at Dusty , hitting him right in the nose . Cobb hits God’s Wrath on the floor and starts to limp toward the back . He stops by the podium .
Cobb : Gordon Solie, I told that fool tonight I finish it . Tonight , he doesn’t make it to Survivor Series . I wasn’t going to do this , but I want it to be done . Before the show , I put something under your podium . Move !!!
Gordon jumps out of the way and Cobb pulls out a chain . He smiles an evil grin and closes on Dusty . He rolls the chain up around his forearm , 3/4ths of the chain is still hanging . Dusty staggers up , Cobb charged with his wrapped forearm …. BELLY TO BELLY BY DUSTY !!!! Dusty now grabs the rest of the chain and starts wailing on Cobb’s back !! It’s bleeding as well . Dusty grabs up the chain , puts it over Cobb’s face and grinds it back and forth . Cobb passes out from the pain .
Dusty : Jeff Cobb , you now know . The Dream never changes . It never ends daddy . He keeps beating and evolving . I left just enough of you . Enough so I can get you in a cage at Survivor Series , daddy !! And that is where it ends . Then Ric Flair , your time will be up and The Dream will become IWA World Heavyweight Champion if you wiiiilllllll .
Gordon : Right now we go to Freddy Miller . For what’s happening tomorrow night in Minneapolis.
Freddy : Gordon tomorrow night at 3 M Stadium home of the Golden Gophers a great card . 9 big matches .

WGN Television Title Triple Threat Harley Race vs Kane vs The Miz : As Kane makes his way down to the ring , Miz comes in from behind with a chair and nails Kane in the back of the head . He repeats it three more times until EMT’s and security comes down.
Break
The match is going on in the ring . Race has Miz on the mat with a side headlock .
Gordon : Welcome back two injury updates to report . John Morrison has a broken leg when getting hit by the Flying Tiger Space Drop . His leg fell in a bad direction . He is out and I’m told a replacement will be naked for him soon for Survivor Series.
The doctors have also informed that Kane was put through concussion protocol and he is out for this match and at least the next two weeks here in AWA .
Back to the match . Miz has worked his way to his feet and has Race backed in the ropes . Miz knees Race in the gut and then hits a shoulder jaw breaker that sends Race out to the floor . Miz waits for Race to get on the ring apron and then hits a running big boot to the face . Driving Race face first into the railing . Miz rolls Race back in and off a Miz kick to the chest . Now he face washes a bloody Harley in the ropes .
Miz pulls Harley up and whips him in the corner . He goes for the Mizline , but Race gets off a Kneelift . Race now with a knee to the forehead . Race now picks Miz up over his shoulder and snake eyes him in the corner . Race with a Bulldog ! He goes up to the second rope and comes down with a forearm smash across the forehead . Race now with a side saltue on Miz. He covers 1….2….. Miz kicks out !
Race now whips Miz in the corner , Miz comes out and just eats a right hand by Harley !!! Race with a falling headbutt !! Race sets for a Piledriver , the ref out of position, doesn’t see the low blow by Miz !!!! Miz with a half Nelson facebuster . Then a Eat Defeat as Race staggers up ! Miz covers 1……2….Nooooo ! Race kicks out . Now Race starts firing lefts and rights , knocking Miz silly .
Left arm clothesline by The Miz and now Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale , but instead turns in and nails a discuss clothesline !!! Race goes for the Piledriver ! He nails it !! He covers 1……2…..

Gordon : It appears , yes , we have a time limit draw . Both men are spent . We are out of time . Next Friday will be a best of show . Next Saturday will be IWA Survivor Series , hosted by our friends and sister company Big Time Wrestling . Don’t forget tomorrow night for you fans in Minneapolis at M3 arena .
