WCW Monday Nitro #24

   






Location: Reunion Arena, Dallas Texas



The show opens up and as usual, the cameras pan the rowdy live audience. The lights then go dim and we see......






RICOCHET!!!!        





  Match One: Ricochet vs Dezmond Xavier             

They went at it hot and heavy at the start and Xavier caught Ricochet with a hurricanrana that he turned into a pinning combination for a 2 count. Ricochet fired back out of the corner and hit a roll into a kick. Ricochet had the upper hand and worked over Xavier for an extended period of time. He nailed Xavier with a slap to the face and that fired Xavier up. He fired back and took Ricochet down with a cutter. Xavier hit the Sasuke special and both men had an awkward landing into some chairs. Xavier hit an outside in 818 and then did a handspring into a kick on Ricochet for a near fall.  They went back and forth a short time later and Ricochet got a modified flatliner, a corkscrew brainbuster, and a standing SSP for a near fall. Xavier went for a victory star drop and had a hard time hitting it, but he eventually pulled it off for a 2 count. Ricochet hit a series of kicks capped by the benadriller for a near fall. Ricochet went for another benadriller, but Xavier blocked it and hit a kick to the head. Xavier went for a jumping dragoncanrana, but Ricochet blocked it and dumped him to the the mat. He then hit a jumping flatliner for the win. As Ricochet celebrates his WCW debut win, out comes Eric Bischoff.......





  Eric Bischoff: "HOW ABOUT THAT FOR A DEBUT? I told you all that I plan on making WCW can't miss television. And you just never know who might show up. Everybody better be on their A Game! Including you Jim Ross! Because you have a new broadcast partner! And his name is....... JESSE "THE BODY" VENTURA!!!"       






The crowd goes wild as Ventura joins Ross at the broadcast position. 





  Jim Ross: "Well damn..... talk about business picking up!! Welcome aboard Jesse!            



  Jesse Ventura: "Save the small talk Jim Ross! I've already been informed by Michael Hayes how you are and how you pander on commentary for your favorites. You can bet those days are over because "The Body" is here and you can bet I will tell it like it is!"   

  Jim Ross: "Fans, we are off to a hot start here tonight on Nitro! What else can happen? We will find out after these messages!"

  Match Two: Chris Benoit vs Lex Luger          

Surprisingly to the crowd, Luger offers a handshake as the bell rings to start the bout. Benoits accepts. The two have a back and forth matchup that sees Benoit wanting to keep Luger grounded. But "The Total Package" is too strong for that. Luger hits his patented powerslam on Benout then puts Benoit in the Torture Rack to get the submission victory. As the replay is being shown, Gene Okerlund joins Luger at ringside.....



Gene Okerlund: "OHHHHH MY!! Impressive victory for Lex Luger here tonight. You stated last week that you had a taste for Championship gold. If you keep getting victories like that one, I would say that we could very well see you wearing a title around that chiseled waiste very soon. But my question to you..... is what title you have your eye on?"        




   Lex Luger: "Ya know Mean Gene.... that seems to be the million dollar question! And I can tell you this..... I've never been more focused that I am right now. I'm in the best shape of my career. And I'm ready to prove to the world what the Total Package is all about. And let it be known...... that I have my eyes on you Owen Hart! And I can't think of a better place to do it at than at Halloween Havoc! So get ready Owen..... The Package is coming for ya!"       


As Luger walks away, we see a woman in a dark room, once again hanging on Lugers every word......

As we get back from break, we see a Deranged Cactus Jack sitting in a dark room, just staring into space and rocking back in forth as "Hotstuff" Eddie Gilbert walks in.....





  Missy Hyatt: "EDDIE!! Where have you been? You can't just leave me alone with this guy! He keeps calling me Mommy! He's really starting to freak me out Eddie! This isn't what we talked about. You promised me all the bright lights.....the money.....and Championship titles. This isn't fair Eddie! He's sooooo..... disturbing!"       





  Eddie Gilbert: "Missy..... baby! You gotta work with me here! Do you realize I have to face Jerry Lawler inside a steel cage in a few weeks at Violence of the Lambs?? I'm gonna get you all those things you want.....I really am! But I gotta deal with Lawler first. And until then..... your gonna have to keep Cactus entertained. "      


Gilbert walks away as a pouting Missy looks on disgusted at Cactus. 




  Match Three: Velveteen Dream vs Buddy Murphy w/Zelina Vega        

Murphy dominated Dream early on with a drag down headlock. Dream escaped a a stalemate sequence ensued with plenty of counters. Murphy then took down Dream with a headscissors. Dream stopped Murphy with a crawling pose. Murphy responded with his signature shortarm knee. Dream and Murphy traded offense in the corners. Murphy sent Dream into the corner and slammed his head on the ringpost. Dream went to ringside and Murphy hit him with a flip dive. Murphy then hit Dream with a top rope meteora. Dream dodged a PK from Murphy. Murphy caught Dream and grounded him with a sleeper hold. Murphy kept hold despite Dream getting to a vertical base. Murphy staggered Dream further by slamming his head into the second rope. Dream fought Murphy away but Murphy remained in control.

Dream gained a window of opportunity by getting some recovery time off a superkick that knocked out Murphy. Dream had a rally of offense on Murphy topped off with a few axe handle strikes. Dream hit Murphy with a single leg codebreaker for a nearfall. Murphy escaped a Dream Valley Driver attempt. Murphy hit Dream with a rope tornado DDT. Dream used a right hand to stop Murphy from high flying.

Murphy and Dream slugged each other on the top rope until both men fell to the floor. Both men beat the ten count at nine. Dream tried to pummel Murphy with strikes but Murphy caught Dream with a DDT for a nearfall. Murphy caught Dream on the top rope and hit him with a top rope front superplex. Dream reversed a sunset flip into a Dream Valley Driver, 1......2......NO!!!. Murphy caught Dream on the top rope Into a power bomb for a nearfall. Murphy caught Dream with a running knee strike on the apron. Dream caught Murphy with a Fameasser,. Dream climbs the turnbuckles..... Purple Rainmaker...... but Murphy moves and Dream crashes to the mat. Murphy then grabs Velveteen and hits Murphys Law for the pinfall as Zelina shows once again that she has "Wrestlings Best Kept Secret" under her guidance.

  Gene Okerlund: "Are you kidding me?? If Zelina Vega thinks that man's success is a secret.....well I gotta tell you, the secret is out! She may very well have the future if oro wrestling in her hands. Alright wrestling fans.....joining me now is the one and only Becky Lynch! Young lady.... to say that you have made quite an impact since arriving here in WCW is an understatement."    




  Becky Lynch: "Let me stop you right there Gene. Once I arrived here in WCW.... I may have rubbed people the wrong way. Wasn't my intention at all. I may have came in too strong with my pursuit of Britt Baker. And I apologize for that."        

Gene Okerlund: "Nobody could have seen what Britt Baker had planned by having The Inspiration in her corner and quite honestly they have been a Thorn in your side, keeping you from getting your hands on the IWA Womens World champion."  

Becky Lynch: "Anyone that knows me, knows I'm all for a good fight! So if those two flussies....."         


We hear a sickening thud!! It's The Inspiration!! And they have just nailed Lynch in the back with a steel chair! Lynch is in pain on the floor as Peyton and Billie Kay once again have attacked Lynch.




But before they can do anymore damage, Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott come to Becky's aid, chasing The Inspiration away. Ruby and Liv try helping Becky up..... and she pushes them away and walks away.




  Ruby Riott: "Becky..... it's time we have a talk! You can't fight them on your own. You may not want our help..... but we are here for you. We need to talk Beck"         

Gene Okerlund: "OHHHH MY!!! Fans things are heating up here in WCW. DONT YOU DARE GO AWAY. WE WILL BE BACK AFTER THESR MESSAGES!"

  Match Four: Tajiri vs MJF w/Bobby "The Brain" Heenan for the IWA X Division title        

MJF cuts a pre-match promo on Brian Pillman. MJF says Oillman isn't a Loose Cannon..... he's a fraud who just acts crazy because of his recent breakup with his ex-lover Tom Zenk, which gets heat from the crowd. MJF says Pillman is a bad wrestler and worse father. And at Violence of the Lambs he will putvan end to the Brian Pillman mystique once.....and for all. That kicks things off.  MJF works over Tajiri’s arm as things slow down a bit.  MJF counters a flurry of Tajiri offense with a fujiwara armbar. Into a pumphandle bomb for two. Cutter by Tajiri.  Facebuster. MJF rolls out of the ring. Scissors face kick but MJF counters into a leaping piledriver and gets three and retains his IWA X Division title.

We come back from break and see Teddy Long in the ring with Mean Gene......



Gene Okerlund: "Alright wrestling fans,  unless you just live under a rock, you know by now it was announced over this past weekend that the match is official..... at Halloween Havoc, the WCW  Heavyweight title will be on the line as Steve Austin defends against the mastodon  known as Big Van Vader! And Teddy Long I know that makes you happy!" 




Teddy Long: "Let me Holla at ya playa! I'm estatic that my man Vader will finally get his hands on that redneck Steve Austin. And Mark my words Gene, call your bookie and place your bets. Because at Halloween Havoc there's gonna be a new WCW Heavyweight champion. And that man will be....."    





This brings out the WCW Champion..... "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, who makes his way to the ring to a thunderous ovation......



Teddy Long: "Now Austin....you wait one minute playa! If you put one hand on me.....I will sue!"          

  Steve Austin: "I really don't give a rats ass about you or your sorry little lawsuits! The way i see it, if your standing out here in this ring, running at the mouth, it's open season on your sorry ass! I've been out here for two weeks straight looking for the fat bastard Vader. And since he ain't here..... your gonna have to do!"          


Austin backs Long into a corner with Long begging and pleading for his life the entire time. Austin let's his desire for a fight get too him too much as Big Van Vader hits the ring from behind and hits a Vader Splash to Austin in the corner as Long scurried out of the way. Vader picks Austin up.....VADERBOMB!!! Austin is down and out as Vader stomps around the ring and show fades to black.
