WCW Monday Nitro #9

   






Jim Ross: "Hello once again wrestling fans! And welcome to this weeks edition of WCW Nitro! We are fresh off the heels of Bash at the Beach and since that time, the scenery has definitely changed. If you missed it, we crowned three new champions at the Bash at the Beach! The Classy, Sassy, Southern Belle, Lacey Evan's is your new WCW Womens champion! The team of Lex Luger and Sid Vicious are your WCW tag team champions, and with some help of Arn Anderson, we have a new WCW TV Champion in Owen Hart. Which brings us to tonights Main Event..... after that interference, WCW GM, Eric Bischoff, has signed Matt Riddle against Arn Anderson here tonight.

But before we can get to that, there was breaking news out of Windy City Pro just days ago where an altercation took place backstage, that left the IWA World champion assaulted. As well as Bob Backlund. Backlund has went on record to say it was the Horsemen who attacked them. So at this time, I would like to bring in the Horsemen to see if we can get to the bottom of this. Ric Flair.... some pretty big accusations being made?"




Ric Flair: "Jim Ross.... it's no secret that I was in Chicago that night! After what went down at Baseballs and Bodyslams, and the way Hogan pulled my tights to defeat me, I was there making an official protest, and demanded a rematch against Hogan in the future. But as far as any assault..... you have the wrong men! Theres plenty of guys running around to be us. Perhaps it was that wanna be from Oklahoma, Buddy Landell? Or maybe the boys over in AEW who try to be like Arn and Tully....what's their names..... The Revival? But as far as The Horsemen go..... we are innocent! So Hogan.... Backlund..... our professional advice..... unless you want a true beating.....let's keep our names out of your mouths! WOOOOO!!!"




Jim Ross: "There you have it fans....the Horsemen say they have nothing to do with the accusations made. While we are on the subject of Windy City..... they will begin a string of Bunkhouse Brawl events in the upcoming weeks. And they have been kind enough to invite WCW to be part of it. So to start tonights show off, we are having a Bunkhouse Brawl, where the winner will represent WCW in their event. So let's get you up to the ring for that opening contest."



Match One: Bunkhouse Brawl Qualifier

Participants include Jesse Ventura, Michael Hayes, Jeff Cobb, Cameron Grimes, Eddie Guerrero, Pentagon Jr, Terry Gordy, Chris Benoit, Fenix, and Tully Blanchard.

This is just what it says it is..... a brawl! With every guy dressed in street clothes. After around 10 minutes it comes down to the final four men..... Jesse Ventura and.... all three Freebirds! The Birds just dissect Ventura before Gordy hits his piledriver and throws Ventura over. The Freebirds are the last 3 men!! They look one another over as Hayes demands the housemic.....




Michael Hayes: "I bet all you idiots think that we are gonna fight each other over a lousy spot for some run down promotion called Windy City! Well anyone that knows The Freebirds, knows we do what we want! And if any of those Yankees up there in Chicago have a problem with it..... too bad! We heard all the talk....everyone hyping up Harley Race and Nick Bockwinkle. Those guys wouldn't know what to do against us on a Saturday night on Badstreet!"




Cameron Grimes: "Ya know, Michael..... you just gave me one Helluva idea! We all know you and Bam Bam are the greatest tag team of all time. And if I was to win this match to put me in that Bunkhouse Brawl....it would catapult me.... TO THE MOON!! You guys could go beat up Race and Bockwinkle, and I could win the Bunkhouse match and go on to defeat that drunken redneck Steve Austin! The Freebirds would rule the pro wrestling world!!!"


Hayes and Gordy listen on, liking what they hear. Hayes agrees to eliminate himself....and jumps over the top rope to the floor. Gordy gives Grimes a fist bump, then does the same thing. Cameron Grimes is your sole Survivor and will represent WCW in the upcoming Bunkhouse Brawl!

Match Two: The APA vs The F.B.I.

The APA storm the ring and just beat the brakes off of Lil Guido and Tracey Smothers. Simmons rocks Smothers with a flying shoulder tackle as JBL nails Guido with a lariat. Powerslam to Guido from Simmond and this one is over!





Gene Okerlund: "OHHHH MY!! One things for sure when it comes to The APA....they dont work by the hour! I for one, cant wait to see what they bring to the tag team division here in WCW! Moving on to another hot division, at this time I would like to bring in the your new WCW Womens champion...... Lacey Evans!"




Lacey Evans: "LORRRRRD..... LOOK AT ME! Just when I thought I could not look any better....just look at how nicely that title looks around my waist Gene!"

Gene Okerlund: "While indeed it does look lovely, there are many who say that if it not been for the help of Raquel Gonzalez, you wouldnt be wearing that title today!"

Lacey Evans: "Let the Nasties talk all they want! The jealousy of some people is unbelievable. And as far as Raquel goes..... with her by my side.... shes going to make sure I have this WCW Womens title around my waist for a long, long time! And with me as their champion, all these people and the WCW have someone with Class that they can look up to. Instead of all the other Nasties running around here! And speaking of Nasties.....!"


Mickie James walks into the interview area.




Mickie James: "I guess you thought you was finished with me? Heres the thing....its just like Mean Gene said..... if it wasnt for your bodyguard there, you wouldn't even be wearing that title! But regardless, let me be the first to step up and challenge you for a title shot!"

Lacey Evans: "HA! You want a title shot from me? You dont even deserve to breathe the same air as me! But I do have a better idea! Next week, you can have a match. But not against me! You will face Raquel Gonzalez. And if you can beat her..... then I will give you your title match! Ciao, ya nasty!"


Lacey walks away as Raquel steps up to Mickie, towering over her and staring her down as we head to break.

Match Three: Kacy Catanzaro vs Dr. Britt Baker

Baker ran through Catanzaro with double underhook as the bell rang. Baker then hit the sling blade, but Catanzaro rolled Baker up with a school girl. Baker got her momentum back with the swinging fisherman’s neckbreaker on Catanzaro. Baker then applies the Lockjaw to Catanzaro, who quickly taps out!




Britt Baker: "Asuka.....Was you watching?? Do I have your attention now? It's time to get serious. I've never been more focused in my life. And I've never wanted anything more than I do than that IWA Womens world title. I'm the #1 contender for a reason.... there's not another woman in the division that can touch me right now! The one year anniversary show for IWA is coming up soon. Consider this your challenge Asuka..... you and me.....one more time! Only this time, in an I Quit match!!!"

Gene Okerlund: "OHHHH MY! How about that blockbuster challenge? Britt Baker vs Asuka in an I Quit match? Give me a break! Fans don't you dare go away, when we return we will have the debut of Nigel McGuinness to WCW."

As we come back from break, we see the Ms. WCW winner, Zelina Vega backstage with Eric Bischoff.......




Zelina: "Mr. Bischoff, if I may have a minute of your time? I would like to....."




Eric Bischoff: "Zelina.....congrats on the Ms. WCW title! You looked great! Unfortunately, I'm a little strapped for time right now. I have to make a huge announcement with this next match. Now, if you will excuse me."


Bischoff walks away, leaving a dejected Zelina watching on. The cameras pan back to the ring where we see Nigel McGuinness already in the ring. Then out comes his opponent led to the ring by Teddy Long......




BIG VAN VADER!!


Match Four: Nigel McGuinness vs Big Van Vader w/Teddy Long

The bell rings and Nigel goes on attack instantly, knowing what hes up against. But Vader starts clubbing away at Nigel. Vader whips Nigel into the ropes and Nigel goes for a sunset flip but cant get Vader down! Vader jumps to squash Nigel instead, but Nigel moves and Vader hits ass first on the mat. Nigel tries to whip Vader into the turnbuckles but Vader reverses and hits Nigel with a huge splash. Nigel is down. VADER BOMB!!! Vader then grabs Nigel..... POWERBOMB, 1.....2......3!!! As Long and Vader celebrate the win, out comes Eric Bischoff......


Eric Bischoff: "Quite the impressive win there.... I must hand that to you. And while it's my job to keep things professional here in WCW, I just cant forget what you did to me last month. Your a big, tough guy, I get that! And I just so happen to have an open contract on my desk requesting tough guys like you. So its official.... Big Van Vader is now an official participant in Windy City Pro's Bunkhouse Stampede! Good luck....I have a feeling your gonna need it!"


Vader stomps around the ring like a madman after hearing Bischoffs announcement as Teddy Long tries calming him down!

Main Event: Matt Riddle vs Arn Anderson

They lock hands before Riddle takes him down. Arn rolls through and applies a front facelock, but Riddle gets out. They get to their feet and backup in a stalemate. Riddle goes for a takedown, but Arn gets out. Anderson takes him down, but Riddle soon mounts him. Anderson applies a front facelock, but they roll to the ropes. Anderson takes him down again and applies a front facelock. Riddle gets up and backs him into the ropes. Riddle goes for a takedown and hits a gutwrench suplex instead. Anderson soon comes back and clubs him down before chopping the chest. Arn forearms him back, but Riddle fights back. Anderson knees him in the midsection and goes for the DDT, but Riddle gets out. Riddle lifts him up, but Arn gets out and hits an enzuigiri before hitting a front suplex on the top rope. Arn applying a camel clutch to Riddle. Riddle fights out, but Anderson elbows him. Riddle kicks him down twice, but Arn hits some stiff forearms. Riddle quickly comes back with a Pelé Kick before forearming him in the corner and hitting an exploder suplex. Anderson counters a PK into a Boston Crab, but Riddle fights out. Riddle kicks him back and hits a Bro To Sleep followed by a German Suplex, 1.....2.....NO!!

Arn gets out of the Bro Derek and hits an spinebuster for a near fall. Riddle avoids a knee strike and grabs him, but Anderson knees him in the face. Arn hits some running forearms, but Riddle comes back with the Bro Derek!!! 1....2.....Tully Blanchard storms the ring and attacks Riddle before the ref can count three. Arn and Tully work Riddle over for a bit then out comes.......




JEFF COBB!!

Cobb storms the ring to Riddles aid and chases the Horsemen away as show fades to black!
