Progress #354 - 'Civil War'

UWF Womens Tag Team Titles:
(Champions) Fabulous Killer Baes (Laura James & Heather Monroe) ~ (UNITED STATES)
vs.
Team Kick ~ Dakota Kai (NEW ZEALAND) & Tegan Nox (WALES)

This is a hot opener with the crowd being super-behind the hometown challengers .... Despite the fact that the Baes are faces, they are booed heavily by the London crowd because Kai & Nox are so over .... After Team Kick controls the opening moments, the champs end up isolating Dakota Kai and working her knee .... Tegan gets the hot tag and runs wild, and Kai rejoins the fight and they hit stereo dives to the outside and the champs are in trouble .... James reverses the Shiniest Wizard and locks on the Sharpshooter, but Kai is in and breaks it up with a brogue Kick!  Team Kick hits the Go 2 Kick (double-team GTS) on James!  Nox makes the cover while Kai holds off Monroe, but Monroe shoves Kai back into her partner to break up the pin!  Nox with the cannonball in the corner on James, but Monroe with a superkick takes her out!  Kai with the running Yakuza in the corner takes out Monroe!  Kai up top, but James is up and knocks her down and then the Baes hit a double super-plex!  James with a dive to the floor takes out Nox, and Monroe hits the Bitchinoku Driver on Kai!  Monroe covers Kai, but She isn’t the legal woman in the match!  The ref counts anyway for the 1 ... 2 ... 3!

POST MATCH: Nox and Kai protest to the ref, because Kai wasn’t the legal woman in the match .... the ref says her decision is final and she raises the hands of the champs .... the crowd doesn’t like it .... Nox and Kai offer their hands anyway, but the Baes act like bitches and just walk away ....


Singles match:
‘Switchblade’ Jay White (AUSTRALIA)
vs.
Killer Kross w/ Scarlett Bourdeaux (UNITED STATES)

Kross is so intense here and White really has no counter for it .... White counters with a low blow to take control .... Kross battles back but there is a ref bump and Scarlett gets involved, but White grabs her and gives her the Blade Runner!!!!  KROSS SNAPS!  He attacks White unmercifully, but also attacks the refs as well as the trainers trying to attend to Scarlett .... White sneaks away in the carnage, laughing about it ....

WINNER: No Contest


We get a backstage segment where we get some of the women talking to a William Regal about wanting a shot at the Women’s title .... Shayna Baszler interrupts and says she will issue an open challenge tonight and she dares one of them to accept ....


Singles match:
Matt Riddle (UNITED STATES)
vs.
Austin Theory (UNITED STATES)

This feud has been going for months, after Theory disrespected Riddle as a member of the performance center recruits .... Riddle even earned a victory over Riddle after a low blow, then denied Riddle a rematch .... Theory looks like a future art here, and Riddle shows that he is leaps and bounds ahead of where he should be at this early stage of his career .... Theory works Riddle during the middle of the match but Riddle mounts the babyface comeback and fires up .... Riddle catches a dive from Theory to the outside and hits Bro-Derek on the floor, but when he rolls him back in the ring he only gets 2!  Theory with the rolling blockbuster, but Riddle reverses Attaxia and hits the Final Flash knee strike .... Riddle goes for the GTS but Theory counters with a poison-Rana for 2!  Theory goes for the TKO but Riddle counters into the rolling German suplexes and transitions to the Bro-mission for the submission win ....

Progress Tag Team title match:
(Champions) War Machine - Rowe & Hanson (UNITED STATES)
vs.
Redragon - Kyle O’Reilley & Bobby Fish (UNITED STATES)
vs.
Grizzled Young Veterans - Zack Gibson & James Drake (UNITED KINGDOM)

The match starts out with War Machine attacking both teams and owning the ring .... Hanson presses Gibson over his head and tosses him to the outside on top of Redragon, but Bobby Fish is legit injured in the process .... the match continues, but Roderick Strong comes out and takes Fish’s place in the match!  Strong and O’Reilley don’t miss a beat .... War Machine dominates and takes control of the match late, and O’Reilley gets hit with Thor’s Hammer, but Drake breaks it up .... War Machine set Drake up for the Fallout, but Gibson shoves Hanson off the top and he crashes through a table at ringside .... Rowe gets hit with Ticket to Mayhem from the Vets, but Strong is quickly back in and takes out Drake with a Sick kick .... He tosses Gibson and pins Rowe to win the titles ....

The cameras catch a shot of Ronda Rousey and her husband Travis Browne sitting in the front row ringside ....




Up next, Universal Women’s champion Shayna Baszler comes out accompanied by Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke .... Baszler stops long enough to look at Rousey, who flashes the 4 Horsewomen sign .... Baszler flashes it back and takes the mic .... she talks about how she is the most dominant woman in the locker room and she’s beaten everyone there is to beat .... Her being champion forever is now the new reality .... she said she was going to come out and issue an open challenge, but there is no one left to fight her so she’s taking the night off ....

Instead out comes Britt Baker.  Baszler laughs at her and says she didn’t even think she was part of the company anymore .... Baker wants to accept the challenge, but Baszler turns her down because she doesn’t deserve it and couldn’t last 10 minutes in the ring with her .... Baker says she accepts, and she will prove that not only can she last, she can BEAT her .... Baker slaps her!  Baszler with a double leg takedown and then ground and pound, and we’ve got a match!


Non-title challenge:
(Champion) Shayna Baszler (UNITED STATES)
vs.
Britt Baker (UNITED STATES)

Match starts out with Baszler in total control, but she can’t put Baker away.  We have a clock at the bottom of the screen counting down the 10 minute challenge .... Baker takes more punishment, but she connects with a superkick that rocks Baszler .... Baker with a fisherman neckbreaker for a 2 and then a slingblade .... not only is Baker hanging with Baszler, she is in control!  Baker with a rocker dropper, then she pulls the knee pad down and hits the Last Shot!  Baszler kicks out at 2!  Baker transitions right into the Lockjaw submission and Baszler is trapped in the middle of the ring!  Baszler battles out, but Baker takes her to the top .... Baszler with headbutts and then counters with a super-plex for 2!  Baszler with the knee strike and penalty kick, but Baker kicks out!  Baszler catches her in the Kirafuda clutch and chokes her out, but Baker refuses to tap and the 10 minute timer expires!

WINNER: Britt Baker

Baszler chokes Baker out after the match and leaves her laying .... Baker beat the challenge, but doesn’t look like the winner after it’s all said and done ....


Singles match:
‘The Villain’ Marty Scurll (UNITED KINGDOM)
vs.
Edge (UNITED STATES)

Edge wants a shot at the Atlas title, while Scurll demands his rematch and wants to block anyone else from getting to Balor before he does .... Scurll attacked Edge from behind, and Edge returned the favor by spearing Scurll during a match that caused him to be pinned by Tyler Bate ....  these 2 go to war that is a mix of great chain wrestling and brawling .... Scurll goes for joint manipulation but Edge avoids it early .... the match breaks down, and Scurll resorts to his villainous tactics and goes for a chair .... the ref gets the chair from Scurll, but as he is putting it away Scurll grabs his umbrella!  Edge charges for the spear but runs right into the umbrella shot!  Scurll hits the Black Plague, but Edge kicks out at 2!  Scurll goes immediately into the Chickenwing!  Edge tries to reach the ropes but can’t get there and Scurll starts laying in the heel strikes while having Edge locked in the body scissors .... Edge starts to fade, but fires up and makes one last attempt to get to the ropes .... He doesn’t make it, and is forced to tap out ....

The show is interrupted as Charlotte Flairs music hits and we get a surprise appearance by the Queen ....






Charlotte comes out and wastes no time addressing the fact that Rousey is sitting ringside, and she tells her she doesn’t belong here, because this is HER world .... Charlotte goes out to the barrier and gets right in Rouseys face, and Rousey doesn’t back down .... Travis Browne tries to hold Rousey back and get cooler heads to prevail .... William Regal comes out with a bunch of security and gets between the two ladies, trying to get Charlotte to just go to the back .... Charlotte backs away, but grabs a drink from a fan and throws it in Rouseys face!!!! .... Rousey absolutely loses her shit and goes after Charlotte, but security is there to keep them apart .... Regal is pissed at Charlotte and orders her to the back, and Charlotte backs away smiling as she admires her handiwork .... She lets out a big ‘Wooooo!’ as the camera focuses on Rousey looking like she’s ready to kill a bitch ....[/i]




Atlas title match:
(Champion) Finn Balor (IRELAND)
vs.
‘Bruiserweight’ Pete Dunne (UNITED KINGDOM)

This is a great back and forth battle, and the fans are split on who they want to cheer for .... Balor hits a double stomp to the back of Dunne on the floor and they brawl, but Dunne resorts to the joint manipulation .... he slams Balors knee into the steps and then hits an X Plex from the floor to the apron .... Stretch Muffler by Dunne but Balor fights back with a Slingblade .... Balor to the top but the knee slows him down and Dunne runs up the ropes and scores with an enziguri!  Dunne hits a top rope butterfly suplex for 2.99999 .... Bitter End is countered and Balor hits 1916 for a 2 .... he charges for the shotgun dropkick but Dunne clips the knee .... BITTER END!  Balor kicks out at 2!  Dunne sits Balor on top, but Balor fights him off and hits the Coup De Grace!  Balor hurts his own knee in the process and can’t cover .... Dunne is able to recover, but Balor counters the Bitter End again and hits the Bloody Sunday out of nowhere for the 3 count!

WINNER: (and still champion) Finn Balor

Post Match, Marty Scurll hits the ring and attacks Balor .... He attacks the knee and grabs a chair from ringside and is going to Pillman-ize the knee of Balor but Dunne stops him .... Scurll bails out .... As he backs up the ramp Edge comes out and attacks Scurll!  They brawl in the crowd, and Edge Spears Scurll through part of the stage!  Trainers and EMT’s come out to check on both guys, while in the ring Dunne hands the Atlas title to Balor and they shake hands ....


The scene at ringside calms down a little bit, and now we get the entrances of the United Kingdom and United States champions for our main event ....


Genesis title match:
(United States Champion) ‘The Machine’ Brian Cage (UNITED STATES)
vs.
(United Kingdom Champion) Drew McIntyre (SCOTLAND)

This is a hard-hitting big boy battle as these two tear into each other .... It is a stalemate late in the match and Cage scoops Drew up on his shoulders for the F-5 but McIntyre elbows out of it and hits Future Shock!  1 ... 2 ... Cage kicks out!  Drew crouches for the Claymore, but as he charges Cage cuts him off with a lariat!  Buckle Bomb by Cage and as McIntyre stumbled out Cage hits him with the discus lariat!  He picks him up .... WEAPON X!  1 ... 2 ... 2.999999!!!!  Cage is shocked!  Cage goes for the Drillclaw but McIntyre counters and lands behind him .... Glasgow Kiss followed by another Future Shock!  Both men are down!!!!  They both slowly rise to their knees and McIntyre to his feet .... Cage is on his knees and looks up at McIntyre ....‘IM A MACHINE!!!!’ .... McIntyre KILLS Cage with the Claymore!!!!  Drew falls on top as the ref counts 1 ... 2 ... 3 ....

WINNER: (and Genesis Champion) Drew McIntyre

Show ends with McIntyre celebrating with the new title ....
