Subject: XWA Presents: Next Generation 9: Great American Bash 2016 Thu Jun 25, 2020 10:57 am
Before the show we get a mini concert featuring the Bay City Rollers which closed with them singing their hit SATURDAY NIGHT.
1. Juice Robinson vs RUSH
Gus Welcomes us to the show and tells us his pick for this tournament is Juice. Juice comes out with a strong striking offense. He has Rush on the ropes early. But a simple Eye gouge changes the course. Rush hits a Belly to Back Suplex. A running Leg Lariat gets him 2. He goes for a Death Valley Driver but Juice gets on the Juice Maker. But Rush hits a Mule kick low blow out the view of the referee. Then Rush nails the Rush Driver (Double underhook piledriver) 1.. 2.. 3! Gus Yells "PLANTED!"
Winner: Rush
2. Willie Mack vs Baron Corbin
Corbin holds up a fan's sign that says. "Get Well Soon, Richie". He and Willie shake hands and the match begins. While both being big men they wrestle on the mat fairly well. But of course they are what they are and eventually begin to go the route of high impact offense. Willie catches Baron with a running shoulder tackle which flips him over. Mack looks for the Chocolate Thunder Bomb but Baron powers out and nails a Sidewalk Slam. He covers for two. He pulls up Willie and lands an elbow. Mack counters with a headbutt. He hits the ropes for a Lariat but Corbin Ducks it and hits a jumping kick to the face of Mack. End of Days (Modified lifting reverse STO) connects and Corbin moves on.

3. Will Ospreay vs Daisuke Sekimoto
Gus Johnson tells fans this is the one he was waiting for. Ospreay is his usual cocky self but this time he ran into a Japanese machine named Sekimoto. Daisuke is literally tossing Will around the ring> Hanging suplex from Sekimoto. The he has him i a chinlock. But Ospreay is able to shove him off and hit a Leg Lariat. Will drags him halfway over the ring apron and legdrops him across the neck. Daisuke is holding his neck as Will executes a Swinging Neckbreaker. He covers for 2. Will goes for an OsCutter but Sekimoto counters and nails his Lariat! He covers 1.. 2.. NO! Ospreay gets his foot on the ropes. He looks for the Powerbomb but Will counters that into a Legdrop Bulldog! He flies up the ropes and hits the Corkscrew Shooting Star Press! 1.. 2.. 3!

4. Trevor Lee vs Dragon Lee
This is a fast high flying affair. Both men are incredibly agile. Matching move for move. the action spills to the floor where Trevor gains the advantage. He gets Dragon back in and is wearing him down. He whips him into the buckle but when he charges he gets a pendulum double boot to the face. Dragon hits a springboard dropkick and covers for 2. Dragon goes for a 450 Splash but Trevor rolls out the way. Dragon saw it though and lands on his feet but Trevor quickly grabbed him and delivered an Exploder Suplex into the turnbuckle. Trevor follows with a Hesitation corner basement dropkick. He pulls Dragon out the cover and covers for 2. Trevor hits a Bridging Deadlift German Suplex. 1.. 2.. NO! Dragon still kicks out. Trevor goes for the Orange Crush but knee strikes by Dragon stop the move. Inverted Suplex by Dragon. Then he hits Mother of Dragons 1.. 2.. 3! Gus says "Now that's no Game of Thrones! HA HA!".

5. EVIL Watanabe & Tetsuya Bushi vs David Finlay Jr & "Speedball" Mike Bailey
Grudge tag match starts off with Speedball & Finlay taking the fight to the Japanese Duo. Finlay gets EVIL in a Sigle Leg Crab. He looks like he may tap but Bushi makes the save. Watanabe drops David neck first across the top rope. Now he and his partner Bushi start to dismantle Finlay by using quick tags and lots of Double Teaming. The crowd is cheering for him to tag Bailey. After hitting a Double Clothesline he is able to do just that. Speedball is a house of fire. He dropkicks the leg of Bushi then does a running blockbuster on him. He covers and EVIL goes to drop an elbow on him but Mike moves and EVIL lands on Bushi. Running knee strike to Watanabe. David is back in and hits a corner Lariat. They set up for a Double Superplex but Bushi goes on the apron and spits green mist into the eyes of Finlay Jr. He falls to the mat. EVIL then hits a STO from the top rope! "BAM" shouts Gus Johnson. 1.. 2.. 3!

6. Rush vs Baron Corbin - Semi Finals
Rush attacks before the bell. Blasting Baron with continuous forearms to the back of the head. Suplex by Rush who seems focused. He clamps on a Front Facelock. Crowd is clapping and trying to light a fire under Corbin. You can see his leg shaking as he is trying to fire himself up. Finally he uses his power to pull himself up and turn the facelock into a Northern Lights Suplex! 1.. 2.. No! Corbin is up and hits a Running clothesline. Scoop Slam by Baron and a fist drop connects. He covers for another 2 count. He goes for End of Days but Rush counters into a Swinging DDT. He goes for the Rush Driver but Corbin counters... End of Days! 1.. 2.. 3!
Winner: Baron Corbin
7. Will Ospreay vs Dragon Lee - Semi Finals
These 2 men seem evenly matched as they go hold for hold, move for move. Neither can get any sustained advantage. That is until Will tries for the Essex Destroyer but Dragon counters into an Air Raid Crash! He gets a near fall. Runnig Shooting Star. 1.. 2.. NOOO! Dragon goes up top but Ospreay jumps up and hits a Top Rope Frankensteiner! 1.. 2.. NOOOOO!!! Will hits the ropes but misses a Cross Body and crashes thru the ropes. Lee hits a Suicide Dive. They both crash into the steel barrier. Fans are giving a standing ovation. Both me are dazed Will is up first. He takes Lee''s foot and squeezes it thru the bars of the guard railing. Then staggers back into the ring at 7. Dragon is up but his leg is caught. He's trying to free himself but the count is still going... 9... 10!

(The crowd is not happy and are chanting "Chicken Shit" ar Ospreay. But he just smiles and tells the camera "By any... means... necessary!" Gus says this guy has no class.)
8. Awesome Kong vs Taya Valkyrie - UWF World Women's Championship
Kong enters and Taya is already talking trash to her. Kong says nothing in return. The bell rings and Taya slaps Kong then rus to the ropes. Kong's eyes widen in anger and goes after her but Taya jumps to the floor. Kong is demanding the referee get her back in the ring. Taya steps in but then goes right back out. Kong is fuming mad. Taya again returns but before she can leave the Champ has her by the hair. But Taya is still in the ropes and the ref is calling for the break. Kong is angry and now starts barking at the ref. This gives Taya the opportunity for her to jab a thumb in Kong's eye. Taya hits 3 running Clotheslines but Kong doesn't go down. She goes to the 2nd buckle and hits a Flying Dropkick. And down goes Kong. Taya is all over her like a Wolverine. Punches & kicks are being landed at a furious pace. She drops a Leg and covers but Kong throws her off and thru the ropes at 1.
Kong is slowly getting up as Taya is going to the top. Cross Body Block... is caught by Kong! She gives Taya a Fallaway Slam. Running Body Smash by Kong. Scoop Slam then her own Legdrop. But Kong doesn't cover she pulls her up and sends her into the buckle where she starts landing hooks to the body. Kong sends her to the far corner and hits a corner Splash. Taya looks like she's done. Kong whips her again to the far corner and follows with a Splash but Taya ducks away. She rams Kong's head into the buckle. The gives her a Lungblower! Double Leg Cradle by Taya gets 2. Slingshot Legdrop by Taya. She goes up looking for a Moonsault but Kong rises and gives her a Back Superplex. Taya staggers up but Kong connects on a Spinning Back fist! Taya is out on her feet. Kong has her... Implant Buster! 1.. 2..
Kong lifts her head up and shakes her head no. She pulls her up... Awesome Bomb!!! 1.. 2.. 3! Gus calls Kong "Cold Blooded"

9. reDRagon vs BMX - UWF World Tag Team & XWA Tag Team Championship
No one was really giving BMX much of a shot tonight but don't tell that to Blake and Murphy. They were full of confidence here. Blake even snatched the belt from the referee and posed with it. As Bobby fish complained to the ref Murphy blasted him from behind and the bell rung. BMX are double teaming Fish right from the start. They utilize a lot of double team moves and continually make covers that Bobby has to kick out from. They do a Double team Slingshot Splash move but Fish gets his knees up into Blake's mid-section. He tries to make the tag but Murphy knocks Kyle off the apron and drags Bobby back to their corner.
More double teaming and Murphy connects on a Powerslam for 2. BMX are now looking for their finisher The X-clamation Point. But Bobby fights off the Superplex attempt. And hits a Super Gourdbuster instead. Blake wasn't paying attention and frog Splashes his own partner! Bobby crawls and tags in O'Reilly. Kyle Hits a double Pendulum Lariat on both challengers. Ax and Smash on Blake. Bobby comes back and they hit Double Dragon on Murphy. Then grab Blake again and deliver Chasing the Dragon! Gus exclaims "Count it!" They get the 3 count and retain.

Main Event: Baron Corbin vs Will Ospreay - Next Generation Championship
After the way Ospreay got here he has about zero support here. The crowd is chanting "Baron Corbin". Will seems unaffected by all of it. The bell rings and we are under way. Gus Johnson tells the fans this has a "Big Game Feel". Ospreay is trying to stick and move and not get overwhelmed by Corbin's power. But eventually Corbin does get him and hits an overhead Belly to Belly Suplex. A couple of clotheslines from Corbin. He then sends Will into the ropes for the big boot but Will ducks it and goes right into the OsCutter! He covers 1.. 2.. No.
Ospreay hits a side Backbreaker on Baron. he then goes for a Standing Moonsault and lands right into a straight right hand from Corbin. Baron looks for End of Days but Ospreay counters into a Codebreaker! He hits a running Shooting Star! 1.. 2.. NO! Will goes for another OsCutter but Baron catches him and hits a release German Suplex sending Ospreay sliding right out the ring.
Baron follows him out and sends him into the railing. Corbin rolls him back in. He climbs on the apron but is met with a Jumping Enzuguiri. Baron is stunned and Will executes a Flying Neckbreaker on the apron! Both men are down. The ref isn't even counting. This match must end in a finish. Gus has lost his voice after that move. Slowly both men return to the ring. ospreay wants the Essex Destroyer but Corbin backdrops him then goozles Will... Choke Slam! 1.. 2.. NO! He looks again for End of Days... He hits it! Baron slowly rolls on top of Ospreay. 1.. 2..
Ospreay grabs the bottom rope! Baron slams him in the center and goes to the 2nd rope. He jumps off but gets caught with a boot right to the jaw! Essex Destroyer! Ospreay scrambles up the ropes....
Imploding 450 Splash!!! 1.. 2.. 3!!!! Gus slips out a "HOLY SHIT" call.
Winner & 1st Ever Next Generation Champion: Will Ospreay
After the match the fans give both men a standing ovation. A hoarse Gus Johnson signs off.
